Not sure about a Galaxy S but i can definitely recommend a Galaxy S2, best phone on the market (im an old HD2 user) lots of ROM's/Themes,etc,etc too

My suggest to you is to ask the people at Galaxy S 4G forums themselves regarding Rom Development and Customization, while checking their Rom Development section for information such as if they managed to port Gingerbread/Sense Roms to their hardware...

Development progress of samsung galaxy s

Hi all, i am planning to sell mt my galaxy and get a htc android phone. Reason is the development is reall its slow for the galaxy s i9000. The vibrant has a lot of progress compared to the international version. Do you think galaxy s has a broght development future?

I wouldn't say the development really differs much.. The only real development I know that's being prioritised on the Vibrant is Cyanogenmod, and we'll get that soon after. There's also plenty of stuff that was developed for the i9000 first..
I can't find a froyo release for vibrant....
And for htc they are not any faster http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&...=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&pbx=1&fp=72d3e32b142a26fd

CyanogenMod 6.1RC1 is out

It appears CM6.1 RC1 is out. I don't know whether it's available for Galaxy S I9000 though. I am seeing reports that it's available on the Vibrant. Anyone else know of this?
hmm... nice
looking forward to try it out once it is confirmed to work on I9000 series
i always noticed there are lot of developments and cool stuff going on with US Captivate and US Vibrant models
it feels like the International I9000 series is neglected by the Modding community
Cyanogenmod forums are sluggish Hordes of users are trying to get their CM6.1 goodness
Anyone tried them on the I9000?
Damn it sometimes I wish I had the US version so I would have more development
It is NOT available for the US Galaxy S variants yet either...
Cyanogen tweeted last night:
Builds for each device are slowly hitting the mirrors. ..and before you ask, there's no Vibrant or apps2ext support.

Wiil the SGS II have lots of ROMS & development?

I wil have a SGS II soon, and I was wondering because it's not a HTC phone, will it have the same level of hacking/development as other popular HTc phones eg Sensation or Desire HD?
Essentially, will lots of developers put time & effort into a non-HTC platform? I ask because there does not seem to be that many custom ROMs for the SGS compared to other platforms, i would hate to see such an awesome piece hardware not being exploited to it's full potential.
Have a look in the dev and apps/themes forums, they're full of high caliber dev projects. It can only get better when more countries and more devs get their hands on the S2.
I think soon you'll be asking if htc phones receive the kind of dev support that galaxy s phones do.

Cool story bro...
Take a look in dev forum. Remember it's quality, not quantity... A themed "rom" isn't development. It is a nice theme. You tend to get more and better development when there are less "unzip, theme, zip, release" roms.
But to answer, yes there is plenty going on...
+10 we dont wont new builds every day .
Stable is the word with add on themes etc that the user can choose .
Plus FAQs in Braille .

As has been stated, there are already great Roms available in the dev section. That being said, this phone is that good on stock that Roms enhance the user experience instead of fixing the holes created by the manufacturer.
Ha, I can't believe I was so scared to get the SGS2 vs a HTC. It takes a large dump from a great height on any HTC handset to date. Our sub-forum is literally heaving with development, while the HTC guys struggle with locked bootloaders Long live the Galaxy S II.
If you think there are few custom ROM's for the SGS2 you should look at the Xperia forums. I am moving from the X10 to SGS2 and even after lurking around in here for a couple of weeks I haven't seen all the devs have to offer.
The only thing I/We need is a good and stable release of MIUI and CM7 And ICS ofc
Yeah i remember the early days of development for the SGSII i could only see 2/3 ROM's the only ones i remember are Villian and Lite'ning ROM's both of which are still going strong although IMO they have been superseded by other ROM's but there are so many to choose from.
I think SGS II is currently the ONLY phone that has TWO (one Original and one is not) Android development sub-forums in order to handles the loads of development threads. Isn't that ironically tell you something?
If you want some numbers to compare (notes that's the GS2 International alone) :

Any devs/porters interested in porting sense?

Hi. I am a rom porter/dev (depending on the definition you use) who just got a galaxy tab 10.1. Considering that our hardware is similar, I think it'd be in the best interests for galaxy tab 10.1 owners along with other tegra2 tablet owners could work together to port sense. I hope this is not against forum rules posting here, but I posted this so we can all help each other out to get sense ported.
Thank you

S4 ROMs

So I was the owner of a Galaxy S3, then a Galaxy Note 2. I'm currently using an HTC One with the Google Edition ROM. However, I find myself missing the expandable storage and removable battery more than I thought I would.
I found someone who is going to trade me his AT&T S4 for my HTC One tomorrow.
Since I haven't owned an S4 I haven't really been watching it's progress with ROMs. I know the HTC One's GE ROM is very stable and useable as is CM10 (Althought CM10 has a few issues).
So my question is, are CM10/GE ROMs out right now for the S4 pretty stable? Any notable issues such as Hotspot not working, Bluetooth, etc?
Thanks for your help.
AT&T S4 is compatible with most i9505 ROMs without any mod/kernel flashing. CM10 is stable so as 4.2.2 GE ROMs. 4.3 GE leak has a battery drain issue for some, not me though.
Not much variety as we have seen on Other GS/Nexus series but all of them is very solid, stable, lag free.

Awesome! Great to know. I'm buying it tomorrow and late tomorrow night I'm going out of town for a week so I'd like to get a useable ROM since I won't be at home to play around with different ones.
I'm not too worried about the 4.3 leak, I'd be ok with either CM10 or the 4.2.2 ROM that is shipping on the GE devices.
