hi, not 3G user, wifi is my only choice. but there is something,
if we put the phone to sleep with the wifi is connected, the wifi will just automatically turn off after a certain time. is there any modification that could have the wifi on all the time?

i think i figured it out, it just under the advance setting in the wifi seeting page (press the menu button)
i just set it, and will see how fast it drain my battery.

Not sure why you want to have WiFi on all the time. It will deplete your battery very quickly on standby. Like you, I did not subscribe to a data plan. So I chose a NAND ROM that quickly turns WiFi on and off automatically with the phone. I am using Tytung's Nexus HD2 v3.0 ROM. WiFi quickly turns on when I turn the phone on and off when I put the phone in standby. I would suggest trying a ROM you like that has the same functionality for controlling WiFi. I think most of the ROMs are this way to save battery power rather than having WiFi or worse, GPS on all the time.

i am using textfree, it won't receive any message while the wifi is off, so i need it on all the time
goto settings/ wireless & networks/ wifi settings/ push menu button and select advanced/ wifi sleep policy/ and select your choice,,

I also have TextFree and have my WiFi sleep policy at When screen turns off. I just had my wife text me with my phone in standby and it received and notified me of the text's arrival. I never had my WiFi on all the time in order for TextFree to still work. So I am wondering could it be due to us using different ROMs and their capabilities? Looks like you don't have a large battery drain even with the WiFi on.

This morning I went to turn on WiFi tethering (unlocked/TMO model) and it wouldn't turn on, just saying, "error" in the settings area. I rebooted - same finding. Then I noticed I can no longer turn WiFi on. Attempting to turn WiFi on does nothing. I've rebooted several times and checked recent app updates, but only Google Keep, CapOne, and Zedge have updated recently, and none control WiFi state. Has anyone seen anything like this?

Not a fix per-say, but could you use USB tethering instead in those circumstances until it's sorted out?

So after poking around, I found that the config info (SSID, security type, etc) for my wireless tethering was gone. No idea why, but it was. I re-entered it, and for a day, everything was fine. I thought it was a 'one off' thing and didn't worry about it too much. This morning however it was gone again. No clue why. It *might* coincide w/ my installation of Cerberus now that I think about it. Can a user of both Cerberus and WiFi tethering test?

I've had cerberus installed since I got my X. I tether on a regular basis without the settings going away...
So I'm aware of the haptic-like vibration when a phone is rebooted/booting up/shutting down which I know is normal.
However after it has loaded into the main screen, my phone vibrates (sorta a haptic-feedback vibration).
I have no clue what is calling this vibration. Initially I thought it was caused by my phone being on silent and it's notifying me that the phone is on vibration mode but I turned up the volume and I'm still getting it.
I noticed it was vibrating at around the same time my wifi toggle is enabled through the quick settings in the notification drop down. However, again I troubleshooted by switching off my wifi, reboot phone but I still get the vibrate.
I used logcat to see whether I could find out whether an app is calling a vibration but I can't really make any sense from it. I notice around 20 seconds into boot up there's a vibrator service showing up.

Sorry for the noobish reply, but what does this do?
I don't think it's a phone error but more so an app I installed (ever since towelroot was released) lol.
Then again, its not bothering me too much but at the same time I kinda want to know where it's originating from.
Tick that option to notify you whenever application not responding occur to trouble shoot it

yes ive noticed this too, ive used towelroot too but not sure if it was there before. i thought it was just related to the wifi switching on like you said. be interesting to find out what causes it.

So I've noticed two things since upgrading to 5.1.1:<br />

Problem 2 is likely the mobile data always active bug. It's apparently fixed in marshmallow. However, if you have xposed there is a module to prevent this now. It's called MobileActiveRadioFix.
I have an issue with the wifi, sometimes it is kept enabled in battery usage even though it is really disabled in settings.
I know it is because of the 5GHz bug from Lollipop so i forget routers with WMM enabled but still it annoys me sometime. "Scanning Always Available" is disabled in advanced setting I even have Llama to schedule Airplane mode on, then off for a minute then on again starting midnight until 6am

Same on my Nexus 5, try to turn off WIFI when you are still connected to a network. If you leave home and your WIFI is ON, and then you turn it off, it will shown on battery stats.

Try to disable all the toggles inside the Wifi Advanced Settings .. hope it helps

Hi there, I'm writing from my Zuk now and I have a WiFi issue.
As from this screen of battery drain, my WiFi results always on, but it isn't.
I thought it was the "always scanning" feature, but it turned out it was disabled too.
I also tried to turn it on and off again, and it didn't work.
It's 6 pm and my battery is only at 43% whith non a deep use...any clue with that?
Others have this issue? Tried to Google on this forum but I didn't find anything.

After yesterday post, I tried to reboot the phone with WIFI turned OFF.
At the reboot, the WiFi was not in use and the indicator in battery stats was right.
Then i tried to TURN ON the WIFI, was connected several minutes, then i disconnected it, but the indicator in battery stats was still counting it as "WiFi on".
After a sencond reboot, the indication goes on normally as WiFi OFF".
So, my conclusion is: when i turn the WIFI ON, it's start to count as IN USE; then when i TURN IT OFF, it's still counted as IN USE, untill i apply a reboot.
I'm not sure if it's just a bug of indication, or if the WiFi really remain ON, despite of the indicator.
Curious to see if anyone else have this problem.
More, i would like to submit this bug, there is any way to do it?

I suppose it's a google/lollipop bug because I had it on my note 4 and on any version of lollipop on it! Nothing I could do to make it go away!
However, to see this bug on a zuk is kind of a surprise to me because cyanogen usually fixes those nasty bugs!

Man that's what I told you! I have the same bug on my note 4! Exact same behavior! After reboot it goes well until I turn wifi ON again!
But rest assured that's a graphical bug only as far as my investigation revealed! Wifi is turned off and it's not ON!

Well, from your previous message I didn't understand you meant all you wrote here, because you wrote only that you had the same bug on note 4, nothing more ?

How would I go about disabling location scanning?
I have disabled same bro.. But issue still exists..i am on nuclea Rom....
I did some testing myself and found out the issue. Even if you disabled some of those general wifi scanning features some apps have permission to scan for wifi and so you will see wifi is always on in the battery menu. The only way to truly fix that is if you go to privacy guard, if your ROM has it, go to advanced and then go through every single application and disable wifi scan. After doing this whenever i turned wifi on or off it showed in the battery stats. :highfive:

I believe that there is a known bug causing wakelocks with 5GHz WiFi. For the sake of the battery, it is best to turn off the 5GHz option.

I've done this and it doesn't work. What's strange is my first 6p's wifi was off after I turned the scanning off. This current replacement 6p is always reporting wifi on no matter what I try. Both were running the exact same firmware.

have fixed 5 nexus devices, first hand, w this method. strange
Yes, I saw your post last week and tried restart multiple times to no avail. I wiped the cache and nothing. It's a bit annoying but hasn't affected my battery. Still getting close to 6hrs SOT on average.

Odd, never saw this problem when using 5GHz Wifi. Went on vacation with a 2.4ghz router and started seeing this.
WiFi is showing constantly on in my battery stats. I've done everything (Disabled scanning, disabled connectivity services, set to 2.4, wiped cache, etc.)
I've encountered this issue too. So I just leave WiFi scanning on.

I am having an issue since flashing the newest security update with wifi causing massive battery drain.
When I turn wifi off, it turns off and shows as such in battery stats, and does not drain any battery.
But I had wifi on for 3 hours at home today, and it is at the top of my battery usage. This was not the case before the newest update, and I could leave wifi on all day, even when not connected, with negligible battery drain. Now if I leave it on, even when not connected, it is a constant drain.
