sgs 2 tmobile pics. looks almost like the vibrant. - Vibrant General

http://www.tmonews.com/2011/08/samsung-and-t-mobile-announce-the-galaxy-s-ii-coming-this-fall/

800x480 on 4.52 inch display is a no go... . Nexus 3/Prime should worth the wait.

Agreed, too big of a screen for that resolution imho. Waiting for the Prime... but I heard that is coming to Verizon So I will have to wait the the Nexus 3 if that is the case.

I thought it has a 4.3 screen and the Sprint version has a 4.5 screen?
Either way, I want it.

I'm not worry about the screen resolution. Super AMOLED Plus technology can increase subpixels up to 50% to display sharper images, richer videos, and crisper text. I read many reviews and such as Cnet, they prefer Super AMOLED Plus screen. Larger screen size is better to my eyes. I still would go with T-mobile SGS II. Just my opinion. Great news anyway.

Why is it sprint has a date and tmo lags behind again. Vibrant has been and still is a great phone .....but I'm now getting bored!

Also, because of T-mobile's desire to support 42mbps they will likely be using a Qualcomm processor. This is sort of annoying considering Gingerbread (and likely ICS) will be developed for Samsung chips first. With the purchase of Motorolla there may be more equal support than we saw with Froyo, but still, I'd prefer the Samsung chip.

Is this the so call Hercules????

Yes. Sadly, being this fat, its Hercules after back surgery and a long bout of depression...
Sent from my rough sketch of a Vibrant on a brick.

Eww, why couldn't they keep the original design like the att version did. Ugh, definitely not getting another Galaxy s.

Why does it look......FAT? Looks like my phone with a trident case on it.......

also, besides a few rumors, i dont see why people are assuming this will come with the snapdragon processor....

becuase the screen is muc bigger but resolution is still the same as the vibrant 800x480.... and a screen is .5 bigger! thats a big difference.... that sucks how a small tiny iphone has a really sharp resolution... you would think samsung would at least try to compete a lil bit or improve on resolution since 800x 480 is pretty old already

Ok guys, T mobile version does not have exynos processor. Sheesh! I am not upgrading to this. Gonna wait.

Very nice indeed. However, I think overall, I'd still prefer the Atrix 4G: timelier updates (save for the cliq debacle, which seems to have been an isolated incident, all other headsets that got FroYo rather quickly considered), a more manageable screen size (4" screen is the sweet spot for me), and a higher resolution screen, despite the smaller size (higher pixel density FTW).
We still don't know how much RAM it'll have, as the Atrix 4G will have 1GB and the only other dual core phone out now has only 512MB, and how big a battery it'll have (The Atrix 4G packing a 1930mAH), and whether it'll have fingerprint reader for unlocking the phone (highly doubtful though).
Unless the Galaxy S II has another trick up its sleeve, it'll lose my business. Samsung's "whatever" attitude helps no one. While Motorola is infinitely less developer friendly, with the Tegra 2 at the core, I doubt anyone will be hurting for speed, and there's still a certain degree of customization that can take place in stock phones, so those who hate Motoblur can go with a different launcher to change things up, among other things.

I'm pretty sure they're both 2core, the s2 and hd7desire2, but as for s2 I've heard 1.2 gig and now hearing 1.0 gig. Nice to have a choice between two 4.3 Android handsets for Tmo.

I would be entirely happy if Google does what it did with the Nexus S, take the latest generation Samsung super phone (in this case SGS2), optimize a little and put it in the sleekest and sexiest chassis you've ever seen. I'm not jumping on the quadcore train like we all did last year waiting for the Nexus S to come out and expecting dual core. The Nexus S single core is still the best phone (for me) on the market. Sorry if its a repost. So whos going to upgrade!
http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/21/...akes-its-atandt-debut-october-2nd-for-199-on/
Im not biased to any phone. I like anything new and high powered. Cant get me wrong I love my Atrix but the Galaxy S II is tempting.
i'm pretty happy with my Atrix, i think i'm gonna hold off on upgrading until a decent quad core phone comes out on the market.
Not enough of an upgrade to think about it.
The Devs have really just started to take this phone to its capabilities so worth hanging in for a while longer.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
When the SGSII came out back in... May(ish), it seems liked I should have not gotten an Atrix and waited for the SGSII to come to AT&T. the SGSII had a bigger screen, faster CPU, no Blur, no locked bootloader, and already had a pre-beta of Cyanogen out within two weeks of the phone hitting the international market.
Fast Foward to today. The Atrix has an unlocked bootloader, a *solid* beta of CM7, MIUI in the works, a bigger battery, and the performance is close to that of the SGS (in CM7 while OC'd) - in some tests it is noticeabley faster.
The SGSII also seems to have some hardware issues that have been reported. Yellowing of the screen on the left side is the most reported issue.
Now look to the future because the SGSII isn't going to come out for another two weeks. Should we have all waited to get an SGSII? No way, not IMHO. I was sitting on an iPhone 3GS for months and months after I was eligible for an upgrade, I was just waiting until something big came out or the phone died. I'll be honest, at first I did regret my Atrix purchase at times. Software versus 4.1.26 had a TON of bugs in it, 4.1.57 did too. 4.1.83 was solid, and when we got GB the phone was pretty solid. Now with CM7 I have no complaints over the phone at all, and I'm glad I didn't suffer with my iPhone 3GS for the last 7 months (I bougt the Atrix on release day) waiting for the SGSII after returning the Atrix to wait for the SGSII.
If I had waited this long for the SGSII with my iPhone 3GS, I would likely pass up the SGSII and wait for more info on the Nexus Prime.
DK
One thing I don't miss going from my captivate to atrix is in the power usage menu "display" being like 95%. I don't know why they say SAMOLED use less power. I know the screen on the sgs and sgs2 is different but they're close enough IMO. Also after all the BS with GPS and poor update from Samsung I don't know if I could buy another. As far as specs....IMO I don't think it's worth the upgrade the specs are really similar. The only reason I might be tempted is for the dev support.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
as someone who has had both i can assure you the atrix is a much more all-around solid piece of hardware.
like reported above the screen on the SGSii may be bigger but it has its issues (yellow left on most handsets and battery consumption).
the battery is simply way worse then atrix.
and what got to me the most about going back to the atrix was the sound quality, it was simply horrendous, especially for a high-end phone like that.
the sound chip on it is sub-par compared to the original SGS even, with high end headphones i was getting distortions, low volume, and very un-even sound, to anyone who wants to listen to music on his phone this one simply kills the deal.
atrix has a very very good audio experience compared.
same goes for call quality.
and the phone doesnt even have a led for notifications.
also doesnt have an hdmi-out without you buying some special cable adapter.
what does seem to be on its side is a huge dev base working on it and realeasing things daily but the atrix is starting to catch up... just give it some time.
either way upgrading from a atrix to a galaxy 2 is pretty stupid, except for a bit larger screen you really dont get anything in return for all that cash.
i'd wait atleast another year before ditching the atrix. theres simply nothing today that it cant handle so why buy another "future proof" phone when your current one is still "future proof"
Definitely sticking with my atrix <3

iphone5 too if its nice.
i just upgraded this july so no sgsII for me. the galaxy was going to be my upgrade, but it just took too long to come out. also, it's not gonna be the latest and greatest anymore like it would've been when it came out internationally, the sgsIII will probably be out internationally in 6 months since most phone lines get upgraded yearly.
my friend mentioned the PS Vita yesterday and i'm doing research on that to see if it has enough functions to become a phone for me.

I'd rather have an atrix with an average screen than have a SAMOLED that destroys my battery. I have an upgrade available and being 100% honest I'm waiting for a new BB QNX mobile phone to drop next year. The new 9810 with os7 was actually a pretty big step forward in speed and functionality and supposedly QNX will be able to run Android apps as well. Not saying it's gonna be the king of phones but it looks pretty cool.

I have the infuse plus an atrix, while the screen on the infuse is so sexy,, the atrix for me has the total package,, the sgs2 for me is not that much of a upgrade from my atrix, even the infuse for that matter, sure it has godly specs, but in real world usage, even my old ass dinc still get the job done,,

The newer Super AMOLED Plus displays have more sub-pixels and they do not use pentile anymore which also helps eliminate the "grainy" look. I would still like to see qHD but I don't think there is going to be much to complain about on these screens.

Leak: Droid Incredible 3 Pictures

Pictures of a new HTC device running Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 4.0 were leaked. The device is heading for Verizon and it will have LTE capabilities!
Check out the source for pics of the new device running sense 4.0.
Source
This might be a true successor to the original Droid Incredible. Some sites are saying AMOLED, so that would be nice. I'm not a fan of SLCD. Now, if only they can do something about battery life. That's the reason I didn't go to Rezound (oh, and the fact that the phone was way too thick in the first place).
I'm really torn. I like HTC Sense (Yeah, I guess I'm in the minority) but the battery on the Razr Maxx makes me want to overlook that I am not a fan of Moto's UI as much and their screen issues. If by some miracle HTC has addressed battery size/life, I think this will be my next phone.
Looks nice and all, but I'm pretty reluctant to purchase another snapdragon phone. Sense can be cool but future-proofing is cooler. As we all know from our Adreno 200 woes, snapdragon products are not future-proof and qualcomm has made no effort to collaborate with the community to bring us updated video drivers or open source userspace drivers. I'm voting with my wallet on this one.

Here's what this phone's gotta have for me to get one: a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset, an HD screen that is NOT pentile, and a battery that approaches 2000 mAh.
I would also like to be able to turn Sense off and go plain vanilla, or I'd like to use a launcher of my choice.
I've been eligible for an upgrade since January 4th. It's hard holding off until MWC and CTIA... If I don't see anything I like, it will be an LG Spectrum for me.

I only did a 1 year (remember those) upgrade when I got my Incredible.. and I got it day 1...
There has been nothing yet to want me to change to a new phone...
What I want: CDMA / GSM / LTE on 1 chip (which should be in phones by end of year - will definitely help battery life if everything was on one)... Super Amoled.... 4 inch Screen (slightly bigger than the Incredible.. but not huge like the others. I have big hands.. really big.. but its a phone.. not a tablet I want)... GREAT camera... And long battery life (hopefully fixed with my first wish)...
I'm not an Android fanboy.. or an iOS fanboy.. I just want a phone to match what I want.
Hmmm... I'll probably miss my optical track "ball". I rarely use it but comes in handy for editing.

Looks huge. Why have all the companies gotten caught up in a screen size pissing contest? We need another RAZR that is thin AND small. Not like the current one, which is closer to a machete than a razor.

I came form one x,galaxy sky rocket. This literally is the 1st phone that everything worked perfect. S voice....not so much lol but its nice to have. A lot of the features seem gimmicky but honestly a lot of the feature are useful. I don't even have the blotched ink spots on my screen!!!! I can't wait for some asop and aokp and miui roms appear..... I'm in love!!!!

The one thing that I LOVE about it is the true multitasking....I literally had 65+ apps running in background most were games(gta3,shadow runner, battlefield bad company, real racing, etc) this thing WOULDNT!!! Slow down and bearly got warm. And still managed to get a 6000+ antutu score. This phone is a beast!!!! Oh yeah and I was watching our little mini movie player all the while. :-D

I concur sort of
It would be only more perfect if it were the 4x Exynos but I'll take what I can get. It's a fantastic device all around. I haven't played with the One X so I can't say that it's the best ever, but it's certainly the best I've ever used which almost covers all of them. One of these days these devices aren't going to be loaded with any bloatware and I'll be tempted to not root it. They'll also all be updated all at the same time, and we'll all travel by way of unicorn.
Meh its ok nothing to write home about I see no big difference I actually like Nexus better. I had a note, nexus, one x, and now gs3. Resolution is nice but build quality is crap on it.

Build quality is a preference to me for any phone I own. The build on s3 is nice to me, but I did grab a few cases for protection.
Edit: this isn't a perfect phone we'll probly never see one, but to date, the s3 is the best android around overall aside from build quality to some

I love this phone. Came from a DROID x then rezound and this is by far better. I don't know what people are complaining about build quality. What do you even want a metal phone that blocks reception? Or an iphone mDe of all glass that is that much more fragile? I love the build of it.

Agreed. I had a GS1, and I have used a GS2, Gnote, and Gnex and they all feel the same. Like solid plastic. Maybe not tank like compared to HTC but they still feel good. This one does feel softer yes but that's due to the round corners, smooth back, and tapered screen. The back might seem a little more prone to scratches as it's smooth like the GS1 back covers whereas the GS2 and GNEX have textured rear covers. The good news is that replacements are cheap. It does feel light, but I think that's a good thing. My Bionic feels like a brick, but that doesn't trick my brain into thinking it's built better.
not a fan of the phone anymore. Ill probably sell it when the next big thing will be out.
Samsung messed up big time with the NA version:
No quad core
No Sony Cmos sensor
No Wolfson audio chip
Add to this, terrible build quality, the phone is extremely fragile and the Super amoled screen is not that great.

Has it been absolutely determined that the GS3 doesn't have the Wolfson DAC? I'm still coming across posts that say it does have it? One even referred to a very professional sounding news article stating all US version GS3's had the Wofson DAC?
Either way I really like this phone. I started my smartphones with a HTC TouchPro2 and ran MightyRom on it for a year. It was good, heck at the time I thought it was really good! Then jumped to the OG Epic4G. That jump in quality was amazing! Night and day the Epic was such a nice phone, I think it's what sold me on Sammy phones. The step up to the Epic Touch wasn't nearly as drastic, but still a nice improvement. Similar to the step to the GS3, not drastic, but a nice improvement in a few ways.
