Port Calendar from Galaxy ROM Please! - Acer Iconia A500

I have tried all i know (which isn't a ton but im fairly well acquainted with android) to get it to work on other roms but it just wont, i mentioned something to thor about it and he mentioned api changes or something, but vache was able to port over the photo editor, i just really love the calendar on this rom because it also syncs with facebook which i have been unable to do with any other rom/calendar, please can someone help, please and thanks in advance

friendly advice
Asking for apps to be posted in forums is considered warez.
and nope im not trying to police the forum.
Good luck

By that logic, isn't every rom with a Samsung, Asus, or Motorola app warez too?
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium

yes
Im just saying asking is what breaks the rules of xda.
anyway I was trying to be nice not criticize you.sorry

Electrodeath is correct.
If asking for the same app that is readily available via a rom is warez, then the entire ported rom is warez.
Period.
Sent from my unknown using Tapatalk

Dont think the OP asking any one to post APP. I think he/she simply asking if there is a way to do what he is trying to do. Or if someone can point in the direction that can lead to some answers.

Apparently, that is the case.
Yeah, I believe it had to do with him not sharing it. I think it all started when CM started to announce and work on the official build and were wanting to use his kernel as a base/starting point but he wouldn't give it out? I don't know, I just remember something similar to that happening in the Offical CM topic.

do you have a link?
that doesn't make any sense, if CM actually wanted to do an official HD2 build everyone would benefit, doesn't make sense for him not to release his kernel source.

There has to be a reason why he refuses to share his code, if this is true, i would be really careful with those roms he created. think about it, everybody else shares their code (its a requirement) but when they asked him to share his, he disappears? I hope I am wrong...
It sucks that he's not around right now before this stuff went down he promised an update and i'm jonesing for one!
I've moved to another build, but don't like it as much.

What happened to trip's threads?

anyway, not fare to ppl who want to use his ROM
I agree, don't delete his thread...just delete posters who start issues...TRIP and on a roll until some TROLLs kept coming in and starting FLAME wars. Of course TRIP has to stand up and not take that crap.
I can not stand how people keep calling ANDROID open and FREE...it is not!!! Do you think ROVIO would allow us to copy code from their ANDROID software and use it for our own benefit...hell no, neither would any ANDROID software developer even if we THANKED them...they would laugh us out of the room if we said, HEY i can't figure how to do this can i use that part of your code in my app.
Just open up his threads and LEAVE the mad scientist alone for god sake. He does not want to be interfered with again. DO what MODS should do and just delete the posts you think offensive or in TRIPS case lock the thread and only allow paid users of your software to have access to post.
LET HIM CODE and LET HIM SPEAK his mind but don't shut down his threads unless he physically threatens to kill or dismember someone.

Ultimate Rom Requirement specification thread

Hello Guys,
This is my first post on XDA forum because I'm new here. I didn't post any threads till now because I didn't want to spam the forum with any unwanted thread or duplicate ones, but I have tried many Roms and I already knew some really cool and helpful guys like Jader, Mechmetal and Bestttt :fingers-crossed:
I used to work as a software engineer, but currently i'm working as a software quality control engineer.
and as I said earlier I have tried many Roms and I also have found lots of bugs and enhancements required.
I wanted to post comments but sadly I'm not allowed to because terms and conditions stated that I can't comment unless I post at least 10 threads :crying:
Anyway, I just wanted to suggest something,
I suggest organizing a thread for something like a requirement sheet for each Rom, speaking about myself I installed lots of roms but I removed it again because it has less customizations , or it doesn't have a built in application that I really want or it has another one I don't like (ex: toggles) while it had been a fast and stable one.
so why don't we find a way to collect the requirements of the users installing JB Roms, and ICS roms so the developers can put their effort in two really cool and helpful roms to have most of our needs:good:
It was just a suggestion
I'm have Xperia Arc [lt15i] with AOKP M1 - Fusion Kernel 3.9
Given how many ROMs there are, along with the fact that everyone's different this is a fruitless task, and why I learned to mod myself. You also can't expect Devs/Themers to cater for every last persons requirements.

Which are always good, but like I've said we're all different and what you may like in a ROM I might not so what you might call a "requirement" I might call a gimmick.
Also, you don't need to start 10 threads to post in Development, you just need to make 10, preferably helpful posts elsewhere.

I didn't start 10 threads to post in the Development section, I downloaded and tried most of the Roms in the development section,
The number of posts near my name are just replies
plus, my posts in the development sections are not requests , so I could still use it normally since I registered on XDA without the need to comment
Thanks anyway it was just an Idea that I thought about and I just wanted to share.
I have tested many JB Based Roms/ Kernels if you have created modded one where WiFi / WiFi Tethering is Stable and working I would be much obliged of having and Using it on my phone ... The best Rom / Kernel I have tried so far has been LuPus V4 Kernel with CAMPS Rom but unfortunately like all the rest WiFi Tethering has been insignificant and unusable Where as I have to constantly downgrade back to JellySandwich / Ark Knight Combo (ICS) Untill there's been a fix ... So There's are my 2 needs hope that helps with your conquest in making a Universal Rom

[ROOT] Xperia SP {THREAD CLOSED}

hey guys since the Xperia SP doesnt have a dedicated forum yet i am posting this here...
so i have got hold of the files necessary to root this device...
if anyone has this device and is willing to unlock bootloader contact me via p.m.
P.S.: if root works we can try recovery too
I appreciate the sentiment - but please stop posting threads for different devices that you do not own in forums that are not for that device just because it doesn't exist. I am moving this thread to Android Software and Hacking.

You don't have the device and you can't test whether or not it works - instead you're posting these things in development sections FOR ANOTHER DEVICE asking those who might have the device to go and test - putting THEIR device at risk.
Also - there is no community for these devices yet on XDA. So therefore you need to stop spamming the forums with "development" guesswork. Instead - post where they belong UNTIL there is a section. Or, just wait until you have the device and can actually test BEFORE asking others to do so. Pretty simple really.

I thought that what ever knowledge I had would come to the use of that user community...
Additionally no files are directly sent to any users... I personally test out on the devices of users using remote desktop tools taking all necessary precautions (like first grabbing the stock firmware for easily reverting to factory state)... also before any "risky" business the users are warned multiple times giving full information & disclaimer of the actions which are going to be performed...
As an example just a few hours back I successfully tested with a users in Australia on rooting the Xperia Tablet Z...
Just because you don see any "active" users on XDA doesnt mean that there is no user community for that devices...
additionally if you think that such kind of threads are "spamming the forums with 'development' guesswork" then i think we are going down a sad road where in willing users who wish to help others using their knowledge and experience are discouraged from posting just because "they-dont-have-device-to-test"...
if such is going to be the attitude of a "Developer Committee" member then i guess i should not bother myself with wanting to help out the users...

The main point here is you're spamming a section of one device with posts for a different device (or two in this case). The Z section is not a miscellaneous catch-all section for all the different devices that don't have a home yet.
Also there's a difference. You're someone who is a developer who is asking that if someone likes what you do, then they can send you donations. By putting together things that you have not personally tried, on devices you do not personally own, you're setting a bad precedent and putting various users in jeopardy. Again, it's their choice to do this - but it's borderline negligent to put stuff out there that you personally haven't tested.
You're not being discouraged from posting - you're being discouraged from putting things out that you haven't tested as well as posting in sections that aren't for what you're posting. That's against XDA rules. Period.

Devs dropping like flies?

Hey guys,
The rules are rules and indeed, they have been getting heavily enforced in here of late, in regards to the whole 'pay for a pre-release full feature Rom' of Monx and iHackers.
Alright, so you need to donate to get the latest version of the ROM? I'll hold my hand up and say I've never done that, nor do I care, once xposed is on top of a stock rom with a few preinstalled performance mods, I'm happy. I find most 'contributor' versions to have trivial features I am personally happy to live without until they are fully tested anyway.
As it stands at the moment, at least with my 2 LB roms of choice, one has stopped developing his ROM and the other has the thread locked.
This post will possibly get locked, deleted, I'll be warned or banned, but frankly. Heavy handed tactics from some of the mods are KILLING the development of the Z1.

I thought XDA mods did pretty well. Why would you donate to receive a beta version of the rom? Put it this way, you PAID to TEST beta work from the developer. Be it whatever amount of the donation is. Infact, frankly speaking, at this point the meaning "donate" and "purchasing" does not make any difference at all. That goes without saying that the rom isn't own by them, they just tweaked and add little features over the roms, however the source is ultimately belongs to sony.
When you donate to get a rom/features (or whatsoever you called it) is like defeating the purpose of open-source. As we all know, Android is open-source, if you have tweak or something better than the original source, its a given that you should share to benefit everyone. Again, donate should come from the will of the donator, if you get what I mean.
Trust me, if you donate to "some" developer, when a new flagship comes out, with your money they will purchase the product and as a result, you will still lose a developer. Of course, I'm not discouraging donation, some developer truly deserve a drink or more. Ultimately, the money is yours, decide whatever you decide to do with it.
Handle with grace? As far as I remember, the mod did hit a warning note to the developer. Isn't that sufficient?
No offense, had to let it out.
Summon @eagleeyetom for your concern.
Exactly guys...
I'm very sorry to hear they are stopping developing and if I started that avalanche - I'm fine with that.
I'm here for a quite long time, I'm working for community but there's many guys who worked and are working ten times better, faster and more than me and they never asked for a cent.
Whole purpose of open source is to share.
It's ridiculous to charge money for something that's free or just tweaked.
I mean we built PAC for XS and never asked for a money and that was compiled from a CM source, it wasn't stock ROM with a MODs...
Don't get me wrong, I found ihackers to be very good ROM but this is XDA, not playstore or any store...
If they don't want to develop and work without money, then we don't need them.
We have plenty developer who are willing to work without price tag on their ROMs or MODs...
NUT is here, krab is here, niaboc will soon be here...
We have great THEMErs and MODers here and we will survive
I just don't give a damm for that one who only came here to get our money...

Lets say it was allowed to happen all over XDA.
It won't be long before the best features are reserved for those that pay.
Plus you'd get less quality and more crap because you'll get these little twats dishing out crap so that they can collect.
Now pretend that you had to pay $20 for xposed and $10 for every module that you use for it.
Would you be more or less happy than you are now?
And I don't know what you've been smoking, but the real development is only just beginning now that:
1. the broken camera is fixed after unlocking the bootloader and
2. full rw access to system works on 4.3 - thanks to @[NUT] , somebody who did alot of the epic development which paved the way for those roms you like so much.
It's not like that. Our purpose is not exiling or banning or whatever you call it the developers. Our decision wasn't taken lightly as without developers XDA would become yet another forum to talk about cats and ponies and we don't like it. Developers are the heart and soul of this site, but they have been given rules to follow and code of conduct, so it's more like bending them to get money. XDA gives a lot of options to show the appreciation (PayPal, BitCoin etc.) but paying to get early access is a no go and that was a main reason of closing these threads as you could all read in the closing message.
My Opinion is Dev's should not ask Money for ROMs.. donation is not a problem, but I saw some devs releasing a firmware for Money. If somebody pay him, he will give the link to user to download. So i say a forum like xda-developers must ban those f****** devs. i agree with Mods, they doing is rite.
Don't want to spam dev thread so I'll answer here...

Mate, when you talking about someone or mentioning someone, tag him so he could reply to you.
I won't repeat same things over and over again - ask moderators who reported ihackers for not playing by the rules.
Ask those guys how many XDA users reported monx for same thing.
Nobody force them to stop developing, they decided they don't want to do that if they can't charge money for beta or what they called that - contributors version.
It's not mine rules, it's XDA rules.
@Nut never did such a stupid thing and he get enough donations to buy Z1 and be able to continue his work.
So please, don't blame me because someone else behaves like a little child...
As I said million times before - I found ihackers ROM great piece of software, same like monx ROM but when bunch of users report rules violation - something, obviously, isn't right
Some of us are a bit longer here and we are trying to help, not to force devs to quit.
But rules are rules and we must play by them.
If Doomlord, Niaboc, NUT, Vertigo, Krab and all other great developers can follow thise rules - then we should too.

Some of us are a bit longer here and we are trying to help, not to force devs to quit.
But rules are rules and we must play by them.
If Doomlord, Niaboc, NUT, Vertigo, Krab and all other great developers can follow thise rules - then we should too.

Yes sir! That is so. Also to name other devs like Kali- from fxp RaymanFX (ok, he's on xperia S, but he did a very good job and he says many times, that he don't want donations). And when a dev do a good job, he will get donations from users who really appreciate their work.
Okay I think that what had to be said has been said. If you have any further questions, PM me.
