Music cutting in randomly - Vibrant General

When I'm playing music, other music will suddenly cut in. I thought the problem was WinAmp, so I uninstalled / changed players, but the problem persists (now using UberMusic) .... any ideas???
I've checked currently running tasks and couldn't spot any suspects....
Vibrant KA6
thanks in advance.

Its probably your headphones. If there is a short in the wire your phone thinks you hit play/pause, and your samsung music player starts up. That's my guess.

thanks, but no; happens regardless of cord. I regularly use three seperate ones (connecting car, stereo and headphones). Just to be clear - one song is playing, then half way through another song cuts in and plays over the top - no pause at all.

I had a similar issue, but my music would just start randomly playing at any time. Sometimes just randomly, while locked and in my pocket, and it happened a few times for some reason when I opened up facebook. It's always one of the mp3's I have saved on my phone, and always the first in the playlist, like it was actually selected. I also couldnt get it to stop. It would either randomly stop on it's own or I'd have to turn the phone off. Opening up the media player didnt do anything at all. Hasn't happened in a couple months and I didn't do anything to fix it. Hope someone has an answer.

I get the same issue with mine. For me it happens most of the time with Google Music. If I press the play button from the lock screen, sometimes just clicking next on the music controls in the notification tray, and sometimes just randomly.
When I pull up Google Music, it will usually have whatever song is playing, but it will be shown as not playing. Sometimes pressing play, then pause will stop it. Other times, the only way to stop it is to let it play the song through or reboot my phone. Even ending the Google Music app from the Task Manager doesn't stop it.
Hopefully someone knows some more information on a fix for this.
P.S. This happens despite what headphones/cord I plug into the phone.

Try Headset Blocker in the app market...it's free and solved the problem for me...there are a few others but I don't remember the names

Now that I think about it, you're absolutely correct - this only happens with mp3's that I've downloaded and are stored on the phone mem ... perhaps it's one of the download programs. I often use GTunes, which has an inbuilt player ... I reckon it's possible that it's stuffing me around.
@chronos7 nothing to do with headset controls... as mentioned, happens even with a cord going straight into an amplifier.

just updated to the new version of gtunes, called gpod. Will report back after some listening

I had that problem with either WinAmp or DoubleTwist. Both are uninstalled now and I haven't seen the problem in a while.
It was quite annoying.. whenever I would disconnect the car bluetooth it would start playing.

didn't help ... sigh.
Extra info: it switches back to the original song sometimes. So, playing song a, song b cuts in for about 20 seconds, then switches back to song a. No pauses.

Try the headset blocker and see if that fixes the problem...I had the exact same issues and this solved the problem about 6 months ago and I haven't had the problem since...just try it and if it doesn't work then it's was free anyway but trust me it will work...

thanks Chronos, tried it, but no, didn't help.
Here's the fu**ing weird thing: i just copied all my music from my sd card to my pc. I then played some music with windows media player......... THE SAME THING HAPPENED! In the middle of a song another song jumped in for 15 seconds and then buggered off. Note that WMP never acknowledged any change, i.e. kept showing song a even when song b had cut in.
WTF? Corrupted files??

If it does the same thing on your PC it's not the phone, it's the MP3 file. Download from a different source. Some people still have trouble ripping/converting music so you get garbage/incomplete MP3 files sometimes.

I agree after some experimentation, but the problem originated on the phone itself. I can see this is the case because song a is polluted with song b and c, where both b and c are present on my phone and are completely unrelated to song a. I just encountered a Joy Division song with chunks of Prince and something else completely alien, but still all are my songs, not just ones that would have been inserted during the encoding process .... I wonder what program did this. I still think gtunes is a candidate, but have no evidence at all, except that in the aforementioned case all three songs were downloaded via gtunes.

Music playing problem, all Players

Hello,
I have read some posts about that, but I cannot find them right now...
I have problems sometime when playing music (with headset). As long as the screen is on, no problem. When the phone is in sleep mode (screen off), I have some short break... Or the player just stop. It seems the issues is just like if I remove the headset cable.
I have tried Soft and Hard Reset, I have tried two different Headset, I have tried with TouchFlo player Tab, Windows Media Player and Core Player... Some time it works for one hour with no problem, sometime it just play ugly one song and just stop.
Did any one has the same issue? Find a way to suppress this? Maybe just a registry tweak to disable the "Pause on cable off" ?
I have same issue and make ticket to HTC - but they answer is to perform Soft Reset. They can't reproduce this problem.
I'm having the same problem; short random breaks in the music. Did eith er of you install SRSwow by any chance? I may try uninstalling that and see if the issue continues.
Having exactly the same problem, short breaks in the music, and if i lock the screen, the music stops at the end of the song and doesnt go onto the next track

I don't installed SRSwow. My last try was a Hard-Reset, and just after first start, I played music... And get the problem. My next try will be to use the #### headset I got with my Leo. But I have to go back home for this.
I had the problem using the Leo headset
All of you have a lock screen with "password"? (I have one due to my exchange policies). I tested a trick yesterday: I manually lock the phone before putting it into sleepmode... and no problem (two times).
My problem hasn't re-occurred since i did a soft reset
Maybe the short breaks have something to do with the update function of the music player? Once in a while, don't know when, but definitely when you use the music player the first couple of times, the player does some heavy working in the background. (indicated by the little merry-go-round in the left upper corner).
Anyway the player isn't any good when you have 100+ albums. Browsing through that many albums is a disaster (no scroll bar, no search function). Also the artist are grouped by "performing artist" and not by "album artist", a tear-breaker when you have many compilation albums. Also, and every player for the WM platform (in contrast to the ipod players) have this weird functionality, albums are sorted by album tiltle and not by artist. Who in heavens name knows all his/her album titles by heart? When a album pops in mind you want to play, you think in terms of .... (that wonderfull) album by Fleetwood Mac for example and /not/ in terms of that album, called "Rumours", by ...... (that crazy rockgroup... what's its name).
But that's "appelflap" talking.
I believe this is a very old problem witch occurs on allot of HTC phones.
I've had this problem on one of my 3 previous HTC phones, cant remember witch one, because I bought a decent mp3 player a long time ago
It's a damn shame really that HTC can't fix this thing.
I have this problem too, but also with the audio cable running to my car stereo. As long as the screen is on, there is no problem. If I turn it off, the music starts breaking up once in a while.
use Nitrogen people! been using that on my HD2 and have had zero music playing pauses / breaks / etc, even with screen off, regardless of whether headset is on or not.
Have a similar problem with another winmo phone. The problem was with listening music on microsdhc (i.e. larger than 2gb microsd card) card.
It seems the device just shut down card reader on standby (Screen Off), so when your buffer is empty (end of the song, as a rule) there is no music to play and it just stops.
And no, I dunno the reason for such behavior. And there was no problem with 2gb or less microsd cards.
P.S. I'll test my leo with 16gb card tonight (just bout it), to see, if there a similar problem.
I have the problem problem with my 8Gb card. I could try with the 2Gb too. This should be the reason for the "stop playing at the end of the track".
But for the playing "short break", I have another thinking: Nitrogen don't have the problem. The most important differences between Nitrogen and WMP/TF3D player is the rule that make the music to pause when removing the headset. And this really "sounds" like a problem of headset, as if the phone "loose" the headset connection. Try to remove and quickly re-plug your phone; you'll se the same issue.
Back to my first question: is there a way to disable the pause on unplug head-set? Maybe in the registry?
I still don't have HD2, but I have these problems on X1.
Nitrogen did not help, in fact it can't play some MP3 at all. It either skips it or crashes completely. But otherwise it is the best player I know.
What does work however, is to use Core player and set 'higher priority during music playback'. Also I tried to change priority to higher using task manager for Nitrogen and it seemed to help, but I did not test it that much to be sure.
I sent this to nitrogen bug tracker (suggestion that it should allow higher priority) but after month there is no reaction.
I fixed my issues by just cleaning up my music and making sure I didn't have more than 30 songs per folder(had ~1000 in one and it made the music player lag like crazy).
i've the problem, but only when receiving or doing a call. after that the lags start ... this is annoying -.-
Having issues as well with HTC music player, it stutters, there are sound artifacts where the song skips, and sometimes a song will stop playing after 2 seconds.
This is so annoying im prepared to send it back. I reformated my 8gb class 6 card, but it´s still the same.
Using another player is fine, no issues. This is classical HTC issues, they need to get the crap together and fix issues like this before the release. Had the same issues with my diamond until they fixed it.
hi everybody! I had the same problem but not in the sleep mode. My htc music will have little break when my Opera loading something.
It is had any way to fix it? thank you
In the settings for the display light there is also an option for "turn off my device if inactive in:" - I disabled that option and my music player (Pocket Player) is now running without problems.

Music Problem => The solution

If, like me, you have problems while using your HD2 like a music player... Here is the solution: don't stop the phone...
What I'm telling here is simple: It seems that, when using the poweroff/sleep/red button, the phone goes into sleep a little to deeply to be able to play music. You'll have music break or just stopping at the end of the track.
My solution is to "just" lock the phone (Start => Lock) and then, in the pocket... It will sleep by it-self soon.
Another key feature I was unable to use if I "force sleep" my phone is to change the playing volume... Try by your self and tell me if it helps you too
no problem here playing music after pressing the red button to send to phone to sleep. music plays fine for hours.

Mine works also fine
Sorry for the bump but im having a different issue with the music tab, some1 might know a solution and i didnt feel like adding a new thread for something this 'small'
Well, i just today got my phone, and ive (obviouslly) been playing with it a bit, but something akward has happend, at first, when in the music tab, the side button controled the volume of the music, but now (hell idk what i did) it suddenlly changes the tracks when i press volume up/down.
(btw, did you guys get manuals? i just got a quick start wich doesnt cover half the tabs, including music tab)
I must have pushed something somewhere, but im clueless, anyone know what it could be?
I've never normally noticed any problems playing music with the phone on or in stand-by. Although when its plugged in and charging, FM radio does tend to freeze a few miliseconds every 30 seconds. But on battery power everything is just fine
don't have this problem :S
Actually, about my issue, i solved it, in a way you could say its a audio-plug-bug (like seen before in htc devices) i plugged in the headset and now its volume again, ive tried some stuff like unplugging while playing, on music or other tab, but wasnt able to reproduce yet, strange.

I've got no problems playing music and locking device. However, I have the volume key issue and the only thing that fixes it is a soft reset. I haven't been able to work out why it starts changing tracks instead of volume to start with. Anyone got any suggestions?

I had this issue just today, on top of the numerous other issues ive had. I did a soft reset and the volume buttons started behaving again.
However i noticed a different bug with the headphones. When i was listening to music on them and the phone locked, when i tried to unlock it by sliding the lock slider, i found the screen completely unresponsive. Unplug the phones and the screen responded. plug them back in, unresponsive. Maybe unplugging the phones would have solved the volume keys misbehaving as well, as it did for you. i dont think i tried that at the time.
This unit is so full of bugs, i have resigned myself to returning it overseas. A total pain at Xmas.
Man this is getting frustrating! My music player won't play any music from my microSDHC card now. It finds all of my songs, but I can only listen to about 10seconds before it locks up. I see the little circle-thingie in the left corner spinning and as soon as it stops the music player crashes.
same as above
I have the exact same problem as Toss3 above, couldn't describe it better.
It was working fine though, until i added some new folders. It always happens quite early in the song, so i tend to think that it's scanning the library in the background (the circle 'busy' animation) and it's encountering a corrupt file and is crashing (or at least a file the player considers as corrupt, because all those files work fine on my computer or iPod Classic).
So i'm really bothered, any help from you Toss3, if you find the solution, or from anybody else would be very appreciated.

[Q] No audio through Zune Player

Hey guys, first off I will say I am very impressed with wp7 so far. I have one complaint/issue with my Focus and was wondering if anyone else has run into it. Now, I could just be an idiot, but I have no sound when playing music through the zune interface on my phone. I used the 14 day free trial to download some music from zune to test it out on my phone, would that make a difference? It shows that all the music is on my device, and when I hit play the song progress bar is moving as if it's playing, there's just no sound. Am I doing something wrong here?
Thanks in advance for the help.
I don’t mean to be mean but did you turn the volume up from the left side vol button?
Tried It!
Haha yes, I tried the volume. Both through the headphones when plugged in as well as through the device itself with no headphones plugged in. No Sound!
You may want to try using it on a different set of headphones or other line-in. It could be faulty headphones, but if it's not, you at least ruled that out and can start looking towards software settings or possibly faulty hardware.
That said, has anyone had any luck using their zune pass on their phone? I'm not sure if there's a certain place to use the streaming feature, but every song I've searched for and tried to stream is only a 30 second preview.
Earphones
The earphones are definitely good. Used them on other devices ok and they work with everything else on the phone (slacker, web, fm radio, sounds, etc.). The phone audio works for everything else as well, it's just in the Zune hub itself that no sound plays. Like I said, it gives me the track time, title, and other info, every indication it's playing, but it just doesnt make a noise haha. Zune works on my computer fine with all the downloaded audio as well. does everyone else's device have loudspeaker sound if they just hit play on a song in the zune hub?
Does the phone work for taking / making voice calls or in apps that can produce sound?
Yeah, the sound works perfect everywhere else. In call, in call with headphones, games/apps from marketplace, etc. It's literally just the zune hub. That's why I'm wondering if it's something stupid like a setting im missing, or a could it have anything to do with the fact that I have a trial zune membership?
Frustrating to say the least.
You could try factory resetting your phone. Settings -> About -> Reset. It will wipe you phone clean though.

Or hit the 'play symbol' (circle with sideways triangle) next to an album or playlist or song and it will stream with out downloading to phone.
I'm having sounds problems too, but I can hear the music. I have to turn the volume up to at least 14 to barely hear it. I've tried multiple headsets, same problem. My normal listening level is 20-23, and I can still hear people talking around me, so I know it's not that I'm trying to blast it...I stopped blasting my music 20 years ago - trying have some hearing left for the future ;-)
Stuttering!
Somtimes I hear stuttering at the end of songs, especially Zune pass songs. Does this happen anybody else?
I get this audio problem too intermittently. A reboot of the phone fixes it. Do a long hold of the power button, and then another long hold when its powered down. So I assume its a software issue. Anyone figure out whats causing it?

Yes, I've had it too.
Try this to test your audio:
Dial ##634# and press Call
Dial *#0289#
You should now be able to run through a few audio tests that will at least let you figure out if the hardware is functioning properly.
same problem here. happen to me alot, today it did it at least 2 times, i have to turn off the phone to make it work again...

[Q] Google Music prematurely skipping to next song

When playing music via Google Music, sometimes the app skips to next song before the current one is done. Any idea why this is happening, and how to solve it?
My observations:
This happens during good internet connection (both on WiFi and 3G)
It happens to both "pinned" songs (cached) and the ones that are streamed. This happens even when the whole play queue is pinned (so there isn't a problem switching from cached song to streamed song)
All my music is via All Access subscription, so no songs are uploaded by myself (this eliminates the possibility of having a corrupt mp3 file)
After the music skips to next song, if I go back to the "problematic" song it plays fine to the end
This happens randomly to any song, and if a song skips once it doesn't mean it will skip again (this I find the most confusing)
Any help would be appreciated, this random skipping is frustrating!
P.S.: I have stock, rooted Nexus 4 running 4.3.

You could try to uninstall app or wipe the app data.
Are you using earphones or headphones?
Because it might matter.
I'm using Audeo PFE 112, so ones without any controls.
I've reinstalled Google Music, let's see if it helped..
Did you manage to get a solution to this? I've had the same problem on my N4 and previously my S3. I have noticed that it seems to happen when connected via Bluetooth. It seems to also be worse if I receive a notification, even if the notification sound is muted. if I use PowerAmp it's fine. In PowerAmp there are more options available to set the audio priority and buffer size. Could be down to that but obviously we don't have those options in the Play Music app.
I've got some more info that may be of use. It happens when I have an unread notification. It may not just be on Bluetooth as I don't read the notifications whilst driving obviously. This used to happen in PowerAmp when updating to Jellybean, however they fixed it. Makes no difference if notifications are on silent or if you swipe it from the notification bar, it has to be marked read.

I still have the problem. I will try to find out if it happens more when i get notifications and will report here..
This issue has been annoying the hell out of me for a few months now on my GNex on 4.3 (running AOSPA 3.99). Every time they push an update to the Play Music app I think "Finally!" assuming it will fix this issue, but no dice.
Mine is always on Bluetooth, and happens with streamed or pinned music. It will play whatever song I left it on when I last exited the player, completely, then the next song that comes up in the queue is the one that will skip after partially playing. I haven't timed it, but it's something like 20s or so. If I manually go back to the beginning of the track it skipped, it will play it completely to the end with no issues. I have found, from messing around with it, that if I proactively skip back/forward to another track manually before hitting "Play" it doesn't seem to happen. It's acting like when the player starts up, it "thinks" it received a "Next" button press via AVRCP and advances to the next song on its own.
Is that description consistent with what you guys are experiencing?

Did anyone else have this fixed? As of today, the songs still skip for no apparent reason. Its happened on my GS3 and Nexus 7 2013. Both rooted and unrooted.
Same Issue
I'm still having this problem using my nexus 5 and Nexus 10. Both are running Android 4.4.2 and app version 5.4.1413N.1048534.
I'm having the issue too. I was originally using power amp and thought it was that. But i went back to Google play and it's more prevelent there. I not only get songs that skip, i get songs that play with the wrong name( songs father down the playlist play ontop of another song name) or it adds sounds that arent supposed to be there. Ive even had a song playing in slowmotion. I used to never have this happen. Last time i did a transfer of music ( pc to phone) was almost a year ago.
I'm using the LG L90-4.4.2
I have the same problem on my head unit 4.2.2. Is it possible to force the PRIORITY for google music app?
Same skipping problem
I am having the issue quite a bit on my home wifi with sonos system playing through sonos app. Every 30 minutes or so, 2 or 3 songs in a row will play about 5 seconds and skip to the next. Really annoying when you actually like the song it is skipping. I'm using iPhones, iPads and windows computer with the sonos and it does it will all computer types. I am not hitting buttons inadvertently. Did anyone figure this one out?
I have the same problem on my ZTE Z820 Obsidian.
I have this problem, but not with this phone. I think it is related to some aspect of Google music. I am using BubbleUPnP to stream to a Raspberry Pi 3 running RuneAudio which has the Debian standard MPD player embedded in it. BubbleUPnP runs on 2 Android phones - Samsung Galaxy S3 mini (4.4.2) and Moto G5 (7.0).
When I stream from my own UPnP server, fine. When the streaming source is Google Play Music, I get these symptoms. No internet issues, no mobile data, just domestic broadband and ethernet/wifi LAN. Every 3 or 4 songs it just skips to the next track half way through a song. Maddening.
Hi guys, I have the same issue with my One Plus 5T. Did you find a solution?
thanks in advance
The problem went away, but I can't remember why. I think it may have been to do with the buffer in RuneAudio which was too small/big. Or maybe a new version of Play Music came along. Sorry.

I don't the solution for this. As I have never heard of such issues.
But you can try this.
Clear the Music player data from Application Manager.
Go to: Setting--> General--> Application Manager--> All
Look for Music, MusicFX and clear it's data.
Even after trying this it didn't work. Then hard reset might be required.
Thanks.
okay....did that. i'll see if that worked. it happens just occasionally...just every once in a while. very. weird. :-\
thanks!
well....it just did it again! i'm trying to figure out if it's related to any other apps. i have a call blocking app that just "contained" a spam call at the same time; however, it didn't do that yesterday, when the music player went off....
i guess i'll have to watch to see what other apps are active when this happens.....

i did an online chat with samsung, and "force stopped" my music player (which he said is like disabling it). then i made another app my default music player, so hopefuly that will take care of it.
if not, "i'll be bock..." (<---arnold)
@Ms.O
Okay.
Even if you force stop it but once you click on Music player then it will start.
Since Music player can never be disabled. (Unless you are rooted)
I guess any third party app is causing that issue.
You can use Built in blocking mode provided by Samsung.
Thanks.

yes, i noticed that! but i've now made another music app the default for music files, so i'm hoping (fingers crossed) that does the trick. since it's so random, i won't know for sure unless it happens again!

blocking mode on my phone only blocks selectively for notifications, calls, alarms, timer and the LED indicator. there is no option to block only music. and i want to be able to listen to music when i want, just not at random times when the phone decides to play it!
thanks tho....
Maybe you have some audio bluetooth device that connects? When I get into my car and my phone connects with bluetooth audio, the music player also launches and starts to play. You could check your bluetooth pairings to see if it has an audio device. If it does, umpair it and see if it still happens!
Just a thought..
