Too many dumbasses on amazon - Acer Iconia A500

I've been keeping track of fake 32gb micro sdhc from china. Months ago, they came as no name cards. Then a couple months ago they started arriving with brand names like kingston and sandisk.
These are actually 4 or 8 gb cards that they had modified to be read as 32gb.
If you do a search on amazon, you will find many of these cheap cards being sold as sandisk, kingston, etc. And guess what, dumbasses have been putting lots of 5 star reviews because all they did was put the card in their phone and the phone read it as 32 gb. These dumbasses never even bothered to test out their cards first before doing a review.
The easiest way to test out if you got a genuine 32 gb card or not is try to fill it all the way up with large media files and then try to play the files from the card.
As you can tell, I am very disturbed by the fake products that China is producing and flooding our damn economy with.

I guess this is the 21st century version of "me chinese, me play joke, me put pee pee in your coke".
I only buy from Amazon, none of the third party vendors. Not 100% safe, but easier to deal with for returns. I suppose always using a credit card with a good "buyer protection" policy would help too.

What really pisses me even more is the fact that the chinese government almost never do anything to stop these activities until the international community at large say something. Look at the plastic rice fiasco, for example. The damn chinese gov didn't do poop until the taiwanese news reported on the finding. Plastic eggs, foods made from cardboards, etc. Fake apple stores.
Please understand I'm not dissing everything that is made in china. I am dissing the chinese gov for not stopping these downright immoral practices.

And?
I'm not saying all 32gb cards out there are fake. But because the online market is currently being flooded with these fake cards, people need to test out their cards first before they do a review. My complaint in the OP is that if you go through and read people's reviews, they gave 5 stars simply because they put it in their phone and the phone says 32 gb. If you then look at the 1 star reviews, there are a bunch of people reporting they couldn't put more than 4gig or so of data. And the transfer rate is extremely slow.
The point is test out your cards first before you do a review.

I've never bought anything bad from Amazon or any of their vendors. Also, Prime is the best!

Not to point out the obvious, but there is a reason goods are cheaper from China.
No offense meant, but you want cheap goods with industrialized quality control.
When China reaches the level of regulation of the industrialized nations with their products, they will no longer be cheap.
The solution is pretty simple, quit buying from a country known for their low quality, if quality is truly a concern.

I think you mean, people who try and save a couple bucks buying from China should test them to make sure they aren't getting ripped off.

Alot of the reviews are pulled together from just being a micro sd, Hopefully anyone on the fence will checkout newegg I'm not advertising but like you reading those amazon reviews it felt like a gamble hitting that buy button.

I've reported to amazon several instances where sellers were trying to sell fake products with no brand name. Amazon actually took those down, so kudos to them. That was months ago. Nowadays, they have gotten smarter and actually put reputable brand names on their microsd cards.

Yea, the most anyone can do is test their cards and report the seller if they're bad. Unfortunately, as an earlier poster mentioned, China won't do anything to them unless a major corporation(Apple) or a government threatens them. Not to mention they rack in god knows how much, fifty thousand or so maybe, in sales, shut down and make a new business. I live in Mexico for the time being and it's interesting how easy it is to drop off the governments radar here, I imagine China is worse.

A few months ago I bought a 32Gb SDHC card from this Finnish eBay-like site. The seller had good reputation and the cards weren't noname-brand ones so I had no reason to suspect anything. But when I received the package something on the package seemed off, it wasn't how the real manufacturer packages their cards. I obviously checked the card out and turns out it was actually a 1Gb one, the firmware on it had just been modified to report 32Gb instead and to silently drop all data written past 1Gb, just reporting success to the OS.
I got my money back as the rules on the site state, and when as it turns out, the seller didn't either know that these cards were fakes. He had bought them from some Chinese entity and had apparently been lied to. The sad thing is that he had sold already a few hundred of them and now had to get back in touch with all those customers, re-pay them, and well, who knows how many customers actually lost their data because of these fakes?
Humans are greedy and willing to screw over anyone just to gain something themselves :/

Could this be happening to those lost files
This is just a thought. Several threads in both this "General" and the "Themes" forums have over the past weeks been complaining about losing files from their sd cards. Various explanations have been put forward and some no doubt have been valid but is it not possible that people are unknowingly buying these chinese fake sd cards and like poster "WereCatf" were having data apparently written to the card but this in fact was not happening after say 1Gb, but were silently dropping files and data but falsely reporting "good" transfers to the card?
I appreciate this doesn't solve the problem but it may give some understanding to those who are losing files?

best practices.
"If it looks like it's too good to be true, then usually it is" That's how I go about my purchases online. I can understand finding a good deal. I always find them, but if it is an unheard of deal, then BUYER BEWARE. The reason it would be an unheard of deal because it likely still will be after you discover you have been scammed. Common sense is what you really need to use when purchasing online.

I feel so damn stupid. I'll be honest, that never crossed my mind. I'll be a heck of a lot more wary now. Thank you for putting this post up.

Heya guys,
Have a check here, i know this isnt for micro sd cards, but im sure it still applies...

My Sandisk 32 gig that I got at a great price is a fake.
The paint on it rubbed off with my finger.
It does not work.

Is there a reliable, fast 16GB sd card?

My Patriot 16GB class 10 died with no warning after <1 month, taking all my data, ext3 apps with it. Its after the Fry's 15 day return policy so I lost my money
I was using it for dta2sd, and also moved dalvik cache to the card, and so class 2 won't do.
Reading reviews, I can't find amything with decent reviews and speed. Kingston seems to be too slow, Patriot is unreliable, Adata also has failure.
I can't throw more money at this if the card will just fail again. Should I just give up the whole idea and go back to a 16gb class2 - I really don't want to give up the speed.
I hope it's okay that I post in the Evo section as a XPERIA X10 user.
I can recommend the Kingmax 16GB class10 microSD card. Mine can write with up to 15MB/s, so it should be fast enough. I bought it new from ebay for around 30€, that should be around 40$. Good price I'd say

I've now had 4 Wintec SD cards. All of them burnt out. They just stopped working.
I got a class 10 patriot so far so good, I guess those are pretty iffy). I got it from Fry's (BTW, Fry's WILL price match with Newegg).
The most reliable SD card I have believe it or not is my 16gb PNY class 4. Not as fast, but I've had it for 8+ months and no issues.
Also, I know you're passed the 15 days, but still go in to Fry's and demand an exchange. I went in and exchanged all of those Wintec SD cards, Here's how it went down almost every time:
Me: I want to exchange this SD card. It stopped working.
Sales Associate: It's passed the 15 day return policy for SD cards, I'm sorry.
Me: Yeah, you said return policy, that's not what I want to do. I don't want my money back, I want an SD card that works.
Sales: Nope, sorry.
Me: If you can't help me, get me someone who can.
Manager comes in*
Manager: How can I help you?
Me: I want to exchange my SD card for one that works. This one simply stopped working. I don't want a refund, I just want a new one. Why should I have to suffer for buying a defective item? It's advertised to work and it won't. Just take it back, mark it out and the company gives you the money back. I've worked in retail and I've damaged things out. It happens and it's not the customers fault.
Manager: Well, you see, you're passed the return/exchange policy. I'm very sorry.
Me: That's it? No, I'm a paying customer and this is how I get treated? If you can't help me, THEN GET ME THE NUMBER OF SOMEBODY WHO CAN.
*From then on, it goes to their district manager who simply gets exhausted and doesn't really care so they give me the okay and I get the exchange. Now, they don't argue and they just exchange it.
I'm not talking about abusing a return policy at all. If something simply does NOT work, then yes you should get your way. I don't care if it's a little passed 15-30 day return policy. Now mind you, I'm not talking a year after the return date, that's just messed up, hahahaha.
If you break something, then you break it. Don't go looking for an exchange, that's just ugly.
I just ordered a sandisk 16gig class 4 for $24 shipped. I hope it works good.

16GB class 10, buy online or in store for 34.99. They are in the camera section, not the phone section. Comes with the adapter.
I went and got them in store as I wanted them without waiting and if there are issues it is much easier to take it back and *****, second one is a backup and for if I do get a tablet.
So far the speeds are AWESOME, tested out great with the app. Transferring everything over now from my 8gb class 4 card.
Partitioned out 1GB for A2SD and the larger roms that are coming out.

Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 with 4g up for preorder at $550. Motorola let us down big...

Title says it all. Motorola went the way of exploitation and took the cheap route of superficial marketing to rush a half baked device to market at the expense of it's customers. Trying to put the final touchs on their Frankenstein creation people received their xooms unsealed and in essence unguarded. People have reported sending in their malfunctioning devices only to met with refusal because of "water damage" even though the seal on the purchase was already removed when they received it. Motorola reps at CES repeatedly said that the xoom would be upgradable to 4g soon after release, some saying 40 days, some saying 2 months, some saying whatever - all being false. SD card support has never been honored even though other tablets like the transformer with fundamentally identical specs have delivered since day one. Now Samsung is offering the same thing in thinner form factor for almost 300 dollars less - and we can only assume it will actually be WORKING also.
And if all this isn't bad enough we see that while Motorola had no problem taking large sums of money on false pretenses they simultaneously had no shame about neglecting original xoom owners and developing a second xoom in the meantime that is nothing more than a working version of what they promised the first would be. Pathetic.
They are striving hard for recognition as the biggest piece of **** company in the android game and judging by the recent reports of their stock value, it seems they are successful at something. Seriously it is not rocket science. False advertising, ****ty support (or none at all), zero accountability, no remorse or attempt for compensation or consumer confidence, equals a ****ty company that loses value in a competative market. Someone over there needs to take their heads out of their ass. A child can understand this.

Not yet, Motorola posted at Facebook that they will roll out the 3.1 Update with SD soon for EU... But what is soon? 2 weeks? 2 months?
Nobody received a update yet...
They shafted a lot of people. I have the WiFi only model so I don't apply. That sucks for everyone else though.
Does it suck? Yes. Motorola sold the Xoom on promises. But nowhere on the Box or on any advertisements did they say when LTE would be given out and nowhere in the advertisements was the SD card slot mentioned. So although you feel like you have been taken advantage of, you need to take some personal responsibility. You purchased an unfinished product willingly.
My response is that I will no longer buy Motorola products.
First this is not a personal attack on anyone, but I have to say that ALL of us bought this device well knowing that some of the features were still in developement. I have not seen anyone present actual evidence of Motorola committing to any specific dates as to when these features would be added. If you have evidence please share as I am sure there are many people who would like to see it.
Moto was first out of the gate with a HC tablet, if they had waited until everything was done it still would not have shipped and the same people who are blasting Motorola now for unsupported features would be the same people screaming that they were late to market. The US Xoom is a GED device, so the SD support is fully in Google's hands. As for the LTE upgrade, I have a WiFi Xoom so I really can not comment any more than what I have already said. In this type of market there really are not too many options.
1) Ship something with less features to be first or earlier to the market
2) Wait for the features to be fully supported and be late to the market
3) Ship the unit with full hardware support but lacking full software support so that features can be enabled in future SW updates.
It comes down to which one of these options satisfies the most people. I personally think they made the right choice, but everyone is entitled to thier own opinion. Now do I believe Moto needs to reduce the pricing to compete, of course. But I am sure that as soon as they reduce prices, people will be *****ing about that too. There is ALWAYS a premium for buying the first of anything, especially in the technology market.
Me personally, I like my Xoom and after reading reviews of the Samsung given the option to choose I would stick with the Xoom. Is it heavier - absolutely, is it more robust/durable - absolutely, is it going to get Adroid updates faster and for a longer period of time - most likely.
Regarding the point of them already designing a next generation Xoom, that is what companies have to do to stay competitive. There will ALWAYS be something newer/better/cheaper on the horizon and I would be more pissed off if they were not working on the next best thing.
Does it suck that something we all just spent good $$$ on a few months ago is not the "best" thing anymore, sure but that is how it goes.
I dont feel bad about my purchase...the cost of being an early adopter...also i dont care what anyone says...that Tab feels cheap as hell. My xoom feels bullet proof. Apple was able to make a thin device feel solid but like their phones, cameras, and big screen TV...the tab feels very plasticy and cheap. Just my opinion. I still love my xoom despite all this other stuff that comes out.

I am aware that they didn't commit to a "specific" date. Although if you followed CES where the xoom was debuted you will have heard Motorola reps offering all sorts of unofficial etas (all of which have come and gone). Regardless, misleading and dishonest advertising doesn't depend on them specifying a date. While they have said things like "by the end of Q2" (which was yesterday for anyone following) the practical truth is that when you offer a service in a fast moving market where a devices life cycle of relevance can be as little as 6 to 8 months (hence the new xoom 4g already on the horizon and quadcore chips becoming standard before the end of the year) you only have a certain window of oppertunity to deliver in a manner that represents the market you are trying to succeed in. To turn around and crawl under technicalities like, "we never promised you a certain date" becomes just a bold affirmation of ones own incompetence and utter lack of comprehension of the role that consumer trust plays in the role of your business. Look at apple. They have the most loyal fanbase, so much so that people buy their **** on principle without thinking, and while they shaft them on price, specs, and basic functionalities - they don't leave them out to dry when it comes to support.
As far as the SD card goes, go to Motorola's site. It is one of the specs advertised.
Someone can try to portray this as my own personal unjustified gripe but objectivity speaking these are business practices that will tarnish anyone's reputation and make people hesitant to buy their ****. I don't control that, it stems from common sense.

The SD card issue on the US GED is a Google issue, everyone else is adding it aside from Google, so they need to answer this question. I don't think it's a huge issue though, it has 32GB of storage and I'm happy with that.
As for all the other complaints, yes, Moto are lying ****s, this isn't even a matter of debate anymore. But I still like my Xoom and I'm glad I bought it.

1saleaday - Scammers

I ordered a Galaxy Note GT-N7000 (i9220) from 1saleaday.com on 03/15/12, and finally received the shipment yesterday (03/28/12). When I opened the shipping container, I discovered an unsealed Galaxy Note box (These were sold as BNIB) that contained all of the accessories, but no Galaxy Note. I have been in constant contact with them the last two days, at which point they tried to persuade me into purchasing today's deal on the Note, at which point they would refund my money and cancel my previous order. Unwilling to do this, because I am already out $584, and was not prepared to throw good money after bad to a company that does not even have a customer service phone number, I was finally informed at the end of their business day today (4:30 PM EDT) that I would NOT be receiving a refund, after all. You see, apparently I am not alone in this, and rather than them take care of the customers who have already tied money up in their shady venture, they now want to do an "investigation" into how widespread this may be. I signed a sworn affidavit attesting to the fact that I did not receive the phone, just the box and accessories, yet they still refuse to refund my money or send me the phone. I do not believe they do this to everyone, but I think they selectively choose random customers here and there when they think they can get away with committing fraud. So, consider this a heads up that doing business with these losers can leave you without the item you paid for or the money you used to pay for it.
I have bought quite a number of items from 1Saleaday and received everything in order including a BNIB HTC View 4G. Just file a dispute or charge back from your Credit Card. Hope you get your money/phone asap.
I have gotten a tentative refund from my credit card company, but this could easily devolve into a "he said, she said" mess, which I want to avoid. What I do not want to avoid is publicly defecating on their business name, which I am in the process of doing across the internet.
I bought a motorola Atrix lapdock from them a couple of week ago. Finally got it 3 and1/2 Weeks later. It was a b#$&h trying to communicate with them. It was only $55 but I was that close to calling my credit card company and filling a claim to get my money back. that's the first and last time I'm buying anything from 1 sale. Might be a good idea to call your credit card up and see what your options are.

Exactly. I'm no fan of 1Sale either, but they can't just issue such a large refund immediately. If I were in charge, I'd want to investigate this claim as well.
Their internal investigation is of no consequence to me. They asked me to just sign an affidavit so they could issue the refund, I did so, and the minute I told them I was not interested in buying today's special, they changed their tune. Either state that I am getting it, dependent on some conditions, or tell me they need to look into the matter further.

Since Last year i heard a lot of complains like this
about websites like
1saleaday.com
dailysteals.com

And you are very true about it.
They choose some random people to screw.
So far i had no problems of any kind. Even with high $$ or cheap stuff.
BUT
Always Pay with PAYPAL.
And like me always take a VIDEO when you open the package.
Tomorrow I am gonna get my GNEX from dailysteals.com
cross fingures nothing goes worng

+1 for sure, I always set up my tripod and camera before I open the package, even if I'm super excited to get it. I've gotten a box of CD's and a few rocks instead of an XBOX on Ebay. I'll never make that mistake again.
I had an interesting experience with them as well when I was in the market for a 2nd computer to do some dev work on. Received the computer that I purchased from them and it had a bad power supply. Argued with them and it took 3 weeks after receiving the computer for them to issue me an RA and return shipping label, then another 3 weeks to get my refund.
I ordered 3 htc Evo views from them all came flawless. Also ordered 32gb cards a bunch of other things from then with no issues. Hope everything works out in your favor...

Thank God !
Well I got my GNEX today !
And its all good.
but while packing the rest of the stuff back in the box, i thought of
something. I think its not THOSE websites they are screwing people.
But their packaging department people probably trying to get away

Any way, I thank God that so far I have bought a lot of stuff from
these websites and never had any problem.

64GB Model Production Pushed Up, 16GB Pushed Back

If anyone is paying attention to the main production thread, the post has been edited.
What we've done is dramatically increase the amount of 64GB Sandstone Black models in our production plans, while producing 16GB Silk White as long as they don't delay the time to market for Sandstone Black.
Our production schedule is as follows:
Ready now - 100 for phone smashers
Mid to late May - Larger batch 16GB Silk White for the first batch of invites
Late May to early June - Larger batch 64GB Sandstone Black
Later in June - Increased general availability, people who want it should be able to get an invite without much trouble in June
Update May 6: After seeing how popular the 64GB version was compared to the 16GB, we have pushed back the production of the 16GB Silk White in favor of getting the 64GB Sandstone Black out quicker.

So, good news for those of you who want to get your hands on the 64.
Great news!! :good: :good: :good:
Quite honestly, I'm angry about the delay of the 16 GB model. However, OnePlus is appealing to the majority of their customers, who want their 64 GB model. But in all honesty, this doesn't make a bit of difference. Chances are incredibly slim that any of us will get one of the early invites in late May/early June. We're all most likely going to get the phone in late June when it is finally given "general availability". And by that time, they should have 16 GB and 64 GB to sell to us. In all likelihood, this is just a marketing tactic to make the company seem more consumer-oriented (which isn't to say they aren't; they're still great in my eyes.) Just my two cents on the situation. The people on the OnePlus forums are practically going to war over which version should be released first. Just keep a level head, and we should all be happy and satisfied by late June

I agree with you 100% all this is just a strategy from Oneplus and I have my hopes for late June. The early invites will be very difficult to get unless something very odd happens like Oneplus delivering high availability. But I understand that it's a new company with a different marketing approach to what we are used to here in the west.

They should've had one version with 32 GB internal storage and a micro SD card slot to avoid these kind of problems.
no they shouldnt have. the production cost between 16gb and 64gb is about $50. if they did a 32gb model, there would be even less of a reason to get that as the price would be closer to the 64gb. since their goal was to get a model phone below $300, having 16gb model alongside the 64gb makes sense. the nexus 5 doesnt have an sd card card reader, and you shouldnt expect a less expensive phone to have it. if you want that functionality, buy an otg adapter. otg exists on phones for a reason.

I believe what Invalid-GR is saying is that instead of having 2 models (16 and 64GB) they should have just produced one (32GB with uSD slot.) I would agree. 64GB is good enough for me at this point, but the option of expanding is great to have. Reason I haven't updated to the Moto X, or the G2, or the M7, is the fixed storage mostly. I'm not interested in storing my media files in the cloud and streaming it on demand since I don't always have good cellular access. But this dang SGS2 is on its deathbed!
Personally I feel people need to quit with the complaining, you're getting 64GB for only $50 more. That's still a far better deal than even a Nexus 5 with just 32GB in it. They are a SMALL company, so going with what is more popular and more in demand is the best thing they can do. Why produce a mountain of 16GB when the majority wants the 64GB? I'd understand your complaints if it were against Samsung for not putting out a 32GB S5 for the US ( Which they haven't ). For me I'm going 64GB because it's a better deal all the way around. I wouldn't touch ANY phone with 16GB and no microSD, because that's just too little storage overall anymore. Far as I'm concerned they really should start making the low end storage start at 32GB instead of 16GB.
theyre not going to make a 32gb version cause then it would be about $325-$330 and there would be even less of a reason to buy one. and they are not going to add an sdcard reader for the same reason the nexus's and iphones dont have one.

Everything you told is correct. But since one of their major investors is OPPO, they are not small let alone "SMALL". They should ramp up their production and make it available worldwide.

Investors mean they are backing them financially, doesn't mean we know how much and to what extent. Investors put their money behind you to do what you can with how much they give. They don't do your work, production, shipping, orders, etc. That's all on you, it's a sink or swim deal there. So if they don't wish to drive the cost of the device up, which it would if everyone here got their way and they did everything a lot of you think they should. Instead of $349 it would be more like $549 or even higher. They're doing everything they can to keep out third party companies, distributors and the like. This keeps the device's cost down considerably. So what they need to do, is continue with what they're doing.
They've already stated that in late June ( Which is just around the corner here ) they will begin to roll out invites much faster as they ramp up production based on demand. Remember, Google had a major disaster on their hands with the Nexus 4. Look how much money that company has, how big they are and yet they still had one of the biggest pre-order muck ups in recent history. So I can understand OnePlus wanting to tread lightly. Problem is, so many people have this me me me disorder. Everything has to be right now, right then or I wont do business with you. You'd think after all this time, we'd learned to have at least a little patience and give others a chance to see if this works or not. Just because a few people get their panties in a bunch, doesn't mean their system doesn't work.

Maybe you got offended. First thing I am happy the way they are working because at least they came up with an idea of a cheap phone with great hardware. They are doing a fair job. Secondly Oneplus is more of a subsidiary company to oppo, that is how much they own it. And I am just a little disappointed that my country did not make it to the first list in spite of it being such a huge market. And people who are complaining have no right to complain since it's all the company's decision to whether launch a phone in a particular market or not or at what price and in what way. I am just hopeful of it's earliest availability to everyone in the future and not just the already listed countries.
No offence bro if I again wrote something offensive.

Between mobile carriers, manufacturers and whoever/whatever marketing strategies; I"m sick of all of them...I could not find any specifications in regards to a microSD expansion slot but at first glance it looks to be pretty good at the $349 price mark for the 64GB device, a solid $300 cheaper than any other 64GB device out there. I'm beginning to believe there is no such thing as a perfect device; too many hands in the cookie jar.

If this phone had a replaceable battery and microSD it'd be perfect to me, even if it cost $100 or 200 more. But these days, it's like most things - there's trade-offs, so nothing's perfect. I'll be looking to get this one and hand down my Nexus 5 to the better-half.
I had hoped to break the root/ROM cycle with the Nexus 5, but alas, it didn't have OTG capability unless it was rooted. I figured, if I've rooted it, might as well go all the way. With the OnePlus One, it should have all I want/need without all the trouble to root and find a good ROM for it.
And those specs for the price is makes it a better value than the Nexus 5! I think a lot of crying about the 16/64GB versions would disappear if they had a white 64GB version for the same price at the black one! I prefer black myself, but some want the white one. Also, the backs are replaceable so there will be some customization there as well. I just hope there's one with a kick-stand!
That's my 2¢!

It's too bad the Oppo Find 7a or 7 won't play nice with T-Mobile or AT&T USA networks.

No micro SD slot - considerations.

I will just say that I was disappointed to hear that the micro SD slot is excluded in the S6. At first, this was a huge detractor if not game over in my mind. Then I got to considering. One reason (not the only reason mind you) that I can't stand Apple (yes I owned and used an iPhone for 2 years), is that you are stuck with 16gb of storage, and it costs literally 100 bucks to upgrade higher in exponential increments.
When I first heard no micro SD in s6, my mind immediately assumed Samsung would follow this model, which is borderline extortion. Then it occurred to me. The price on the S6 is not yet known. There is no reason to assume Samsung will opt to gouge us for a $100 just to get a lousy 32 extra gb, or worse, $200 to get up to 128. They may not choose to follow such a brutal course. The extra gb may only cost an extra 25-50 bucks, which is priced similar to what it might cost to get an SD card. If so, no micro SD really becomes no big deal at all... I could not find any pricing figures online though.
Anyone have any idea what this device is going to cost relative to storage capacity?

Well.. what would you call it?
There is certainly no extortion going on between the Samsung camp and you, the consumer. There are no threats being made, and no one is forcing anyone to do anything, since the HTC, LG, Sony, and Motorola are offering devices that have expandable storage. You can just choose to pass on the S6, and go with a competitor. I have zero brand loyalty, because I want to go with what suits my needs the best. But, I digress...
I hope Samsung uses the Google strategy when pricing out their storage capacities. There is usually a $50 gap between each bump in storage. With carrier subsidies, I could easily see this going for $200-300 on contract, depending on capacity. What we will find, as was the case with the unlocked versions, is the US branded models will retail for a lower price than the unlocked versions that will be available soon.
It's business man. That's what it boils down to. Am I bummed about the no sd card? Yeah I am. But in my s5 I only have an old ass 16 gb sd card. The only time I use any vast amount of storage is when I'm backing up and downloading roms. I get the a lot of android and Samsung enthusiasts are pretty hurt right now. But to be honest they don't care, they have made their decisions. It's irreversible until they decide to change their mind. All this *****ing and moaning is not accomplishing anything but clogging the forum up with displeased with would be purchasers.

I was not calling it extortion on Samsung's part, more so on Apples, but yeah, extortion is too big of a word. Price gouging is better. Bottom line, charging 100 bucks for something that should cost 15, just because you can, is a bit bully-ish and as a consumer I can say it is a huge turn off. Put another way, when I'm standing in Disneyland eating a 7 dollar corn dog, I don't tip my hat touché to Disney as a company for their brilliant business model. Yes, I chose to enter into their magic kingdom, no one forced me. It still pisses me off though, gives the corn dog a bad after taste, and well.. #[email protected] you know what I am saying.
If you read my OP correctly, what I was basically saying is that it is not necessarily the end just yet. We still do not know how much these things are going to cost. Samsung could still surprise us and elect to only charge a fair margin for the extra storage. Yes, that does not fix everything. You still don't have separate storage for loading ROMS, etc., but as Sunny pointed out, there are some ways around that via external usb storage. If Samsung prices their models fairly, based on current market prices, then I'm saying that I am still in the game with this device. If they follow Apple's practice of charging 100 bucks extra for a lousy 16gb, then I'll be looking for greener pastures...
For instance.. If Samsung comes out with the 32gb S6 for 200 bucks like other companies, but... they elect to only charge 250 for the 64gb model, and maybe 299 for the 128, then I believe they will win over the masses.
Agreed

Actually, there is. There are a few elements called history, capitalism, and big business.
Now what we actually don't have is any reason to assume they WON'T milk every dollar out of this. That would be the abnormal path.
So while they may not, the reality is that they probably will.
I agree!

We should start a petition on Change.org and see how many people really want these features back. From all the forums, it appears people really miss those features, but the feedback is really scattered. Consolidating them to one spot would be interesting.

I use a lot of gig on my device 64 gigs already used up. If you have a little kid and a parent we tend to take pictures of everything so not everyone use a lot of storage but most parents do and having a SD card does give you options. The only way I could get this device is if sprint offer the 128 gig model which I'm not sure if they will . worse case I'll just grab the g4, of gflex 2 until the note 5 comes out. My nexus6 64 gig can't keep storage for nothing fills up fast .
24 Hours usage review with the HTC One M9.

The most viable option at the moment. Imagine that 128 GB + of storage potential plus whichever size you buy at the start.

New device means insane prices, hopefully the price wars between the different places that are offering them will give the people that are still getting the S6 a good deal.

When I had a Nexus 5 as my daily driver, I purchased an USB OTG cable as a way of adding expandable storage (I purchased the necessary app to allow the usage of OTG cables....I was not rooted). I never ended up using it. Not because I didn't want to, but because I didn't have a need to. I know my usage patterns are different than others, but I know if I were worried about running out of space, and I absolutely had to have a galaxy s device, I'd go with USB OTG.
I still don't understand brand loyalty, though. If the M9 takes great pictures with the final release software, I'll probably get that (the LG G series excites me as well). Plus, I prefer on screen buttons, with the exception of the home button on the samsung devices. I use that to wake the phone almost exclusively. But if the camera on the S6 is really as amazing as Samsung is touting it to be, I'll get that and make due with the shortcomings.
It's a big difference
Big big problem.... i think the note edge is the way to go instead.... bigger screen and and an SD card.
