Is the back cover supposed to flex? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

just got mine today thanks to a preorder from PCWorld, love the device and software is amazing... One small problem, i got the black version and theres this strange flex in the back cover, likes its not stuck to the insides of the device, when held it clicks and when you release it clicks again like its sticking and unsticking to the insides of the device!?!? Has anyone else noticed this? Othewise it feels perfectly solid and good quality.

What areas of the cover are you talking about? I dont notice any clicking except near the power/volume button area.

the whole of the back cover seems like its not stuck down to the device. It depresses when you touch it and makes a sticking sort of noise. Its not obvious at the edges but towards themiddle it just gets worse. I didnt think it seemed normal for 400 quid worth of hardware.

Well mine does not make a clicking noise on the back. The cover isnt supposed to be glued on so there is some play on mine when I press some areas but not much.

Yea, it isn't iPad feel. If you squeeze it around the edges enough it will creak...just the design I guess...

...stay tuned for Samsung's aftermarket interchangeable back covers...Only $59.00 each!!

I honestly have no flex or creaking anywhere on the case of my tab. I have really tried to find a place where I could feel or hear it too. My asus transformer has creaks and flexes all over the place and it is one of the reasons I am getting rid of it. My tab feels just as solid as my xoom, only at about half the thickness and weight.

Took it back to the store and the advisor agreed that something wasn't right. They changed it for a new one and when I got home the new one did the same thing but to a lesser extent. I guess its the payoff for slimmer devices and I will be keeping this one.

It may slightly flex, since it is plastic, but it shouldn't creek or click at all. If it does, I know in the US you could get a replacement.

That's the stuff I used in my bathroom to frost my windows... I got it wet and slid it on.. used a squeegee and flattened it all out and 3 years later is is still sticking there.
The difference is that this is
1.) Clear
2.) Cut into the proper shape (you could do this yourself with some measuring but it saves hassle)
3.) the squeegee is probably smaller.
My bathroom windows are in a VERY humid environment... I have never had ANY peeling.
However I don't keep my bathroom windows in my pocket... so I don't know if the corners will peel up.
My main point is that for $24 of this "film" to cover a TINY phone... you can buy the same thing for $18 that would cover 10 phones... if the product works fantastic... the profit margin for them is HUGE. If it doesn't work... it's the biggest rip off ever.
See if Gila makes a clear one... get $18 worth and tinker away.

Since you've had the Fuze already... Is the shape exactly the same as the TP? It looks like sprints version is a little more round along the corners. I'd Like to go ahead and purchase one of these for the Fuze but don't want to have to send it back.

The only difference I noticed when seeing the 2 up next to each other was the shape of the speaker hole on the back, that might be enough to throw the protection off. Ask Raspster about it more, he had both the European and the Fuze at the same time, so he could tell you better than I could.
I got one, just to try it out.
Exactly as described above. Its a bit fiddly getting on but once on, it sticks very well.
Its great at sticking to flat surfaces, not so good on curves. And they don't even try and cover the corners on the device, which I would think are the places I'd want protected if I was to drop it.
The texture makes the back look very different from normal; its much nicer without the cover on. On the front, you can't really see the cover at all; edges are perfectly aligned with the phones edges.
The back and the front of the phone are covered very well. Sides not so great. Corners not at all. Front looks good. Back looks crap.
My opinion, its no way worth $24
just got mine on Friday exactly as it's described, protects almost every part of the phone with their cut out plastic shield, however as mentioned in earlier post... doesn't really cover the edges, all in all... does really stick and so far looks pretty ok with the exception of little bubbles within the shield (poor application technique)

Is it easy to peel it off without tearing the phone's original casing? Especially the back cover. I just ordered mine, hope it arrives soon.

I have used the Zagg's products (formerly Invisible Shield) on my 6800, 6700, wifes Centro and even custom ordered for my Pioneer 6800DVD in my car. I really like the product, the service is second to none... That said, I think since I have used the product and know how it performs in pockets, and how to install correctly (installed dozens of shields for myself, family and friends), I may try this new product.
Screen protection has always been great and flat surfaces (side) great as well but the corners usually give way, slide and start to bubble after about 4 months of heavy in and out of the pocket use.
This is a $24 experiment begging to happen.... now if Sprint would just release the damn phone!
I would also like to know this. Can it be removed again without leaving marks on the phone?
How scratch proof is it really?
Because of the lack of info on the site (still no video's on how to apply the thing, their forum is just about empty and they don't reply to customer questions...) they really don't seem to thrustworthy ...

I would get the one released by Zagg. They offer a lifetime replacement on all products and they will replace it no questions I know. Their stuff is nearly impossible to scratch and I TRIED just about everything to scratch it. All phones full covers are $25. Never had any bubbling issues with Zagg's products.
yes it can easily be removed without any mark left at all....I found the cover started to collect dusk a lot (it must be slightly sticky) so I removed it.

Trust me, I know oh too well the replacement process and have replaced and installed many over the last 5 years.
The fact that I know the Zagg product so well, makes the experiment more interesting. I know the Zagg stuff so well that I will know if this Clear Coat stands a chance AND since it's only $25... It might turn out to be junk, the company could not stand behind the guarantee BUT we'll see.
*Update
Just got my phone yesterday and I just ordered the Clear Coat. I'll install and do a little initial write up. I'll order the Zagg shield when it becomes available and do a comparison.
It's only money and it IS a $700 device.... (but I only paid $250 for it)
Stay tuned guys.
**Update
Just ordered a Zagg full body shield at 40% off as they just got them and were doing a Halloween special I guess. I should have the Cleat Coat on Mon/Tues and the Zagg will probably be here the week after. I think I'll install the Clear Coat first, use it for a week or so and then install the Zagg and do the same.

Easy Wobbly Screen Fix

As many of you guys have noticed with your G1s, there are some issues with the screen! From it wobbling to creaking and god knows what else will come up. I got my G1 exactly 1 week ago, and I have noticed that the screen is wobbly when the phone is closed. It might just be me, but I keep noticing it and think its annoying. So I decided to make a quick easy fix for it. All you need is some clear plastic sheet maybe half a millimeter thick, Elmer's glue and scissors.
Cut the sheet maybe 1 to 2 millimeters wide and a centimeter or so long and place it in the bottom corner of the phone's chin, next to the small bump from the memory card slot. I dont have pictures right now, but the idea is pretty basic and you should be able to figure it out on your own.
After, the phone feels a lot more solid and the wobbling is gone!
I was actually just thinking of doing something similar the other day. Although, laziness got the best of me :-T
Haha nicee, well when you do get to it you should get quite a noticeable difference, and it really doesn't take that long to do, maybe 5 minutes or so at the most. Currently I am looking into actually custom designed cases for the phone with designs on it. I really like the design on the back of the battery cover of the Developer edition phone and am looking into making something like that.
I have resolved this problem with a silicon case from ebay. It comes with 2 parts, one on the main body and one on the screen body. Now when the phone slides, the silicone parts are touching each other so there is no wobbling.

i had extra strips of universal screen protectors and used those. not only did it help with the squeaks. but it lined the screen up again. it always bothered me how it felt uneven while it was closed.
as for custom cases, count me in. i go through cases a little too quickly.

Haha sounds good! Do you have any idea on a good tool to use to actually make the design? I would say sharpie, but it really isn't as permanent as I would want it, it will fade away too quickly.
haha sharpie. that's the reason i go through cases like there's no tomorrow. slow days at work drive creativity lol. i even went to a friend's shop that prints and cuts vinyl graphics for cars and had them cut the same dimentions of the shield skins
I tried this, and didnt like the way my phone felt when I opened/closed it. It was too stiff, and hung.
I did this http://androidcommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?p=151499#post151499

Creaky plastic

Anyone else noticing how bad the plastic battery cover is on this phone? Everytime i hold it creaks. Doesnt make it feel like a quality device. Anyone else in the same boat of do i have a crappy back cover?
Not creaky here...nice tight fit
Mine fits great as well. No issues.
Ive taken the back cover off at least 20 times since the 8th. My phone feels solid, no creaky feel what so ever.
Same as with everyone else, my phone feels and sounds solid. No creaks here.
only if I really try to make it creak.

maybe you cover is not snapped on all the way??
mine is also fine..
Yea i think that im going to get another battery cover. Mine is creaky towards the bottom left. Almost like its not snapping together correctly. The main reason i returned the HTC Surround was for the creaky battery cover. It gave me nightmares because i dealt with a G1 for 2 years with that problem.
never had a creak but i would suggest getting a tight fit cover for the phone. Mine is red and black and the brand is case mate...awesome cover to protect my sweet ass phone!
I've noticed I get some creak in the top left corner above the camera, nothing major though since I never hold the phone by that corner.
I would say it's a faulty cover (return/exchange the phone) or it hasn't seated or snapped into place properly even though it looks like it's in place.
It is plastic and makes the phone super light weight.
I returned mine and got one back in which the cover is perfect.
Also, the screen is a bit brighter (same settings) and the audio sounds a bit better. I also ordered a screen protector and case (smoke plastic) which works great.
The phone is very impressive now.

Back glass of the S8 feels like plastic?

Just like the title says. If I tap the back of my S8+ with my fingernail, it sure as hell doesn't feel like glass.
Anyone else agree?
Noup it's glass, your tap test is useless, since it has more to do with what's behind the glass and how it is placed in the case.
Here's a scratch test, that will tell you what it is actually made of (different materials scratch at different pick hardness. In simple words. You can't scratch glass with paper):
https://youtu.be/w_dTXKhFWtE
When I tap near the top or bottom edge, the sound is somehow firmer, than when I tap in the middle? There it's just plasticky, or hollow inside. Is it normal, or is it just mine? It's making me crazy, and for the life of me I can't find a video or anyone talking about it.
Thanks in advance,

Thanks for that. I bought it five days ago, and never paid much attention, until I heard that my broken Xiaomi Mi5 sounds firmer on the back glass than a 700€ Samsung. I'm taking it tomorrow back, and asking to show me another example of it. If it's the same, I'll be really disappointed at Samsung. Not because it really matters, but because at that price point things like that just shouldn't exist. Man I am annoyed....

I get your meaning and I appreciate it. And I would wholeheartedly agree with you, if not for the fact that a plastic J5 that I use for work sounds firmer and better/fuller than S8 on the back, and it's a floating piece of real plastic attached only at the edges as well. In fact, I'd rather expect J5 to survive submerging than this one. The screen feels like glass, the back does not. The problem is that I think it wasn't that pronounced when I first unboxed it. I can't be sure however.
On the other hand, I definitely want a 700€ feel on a 700€ phone. This is not being spoiled, it's that If I'm paying for the S8 for the next 6 months, i want an S8 and not Xiaomi. In other words, i want to feel happy that I spent 700€, I don't want to feel tricked.
So, here it is what i mean. The sound can't be heard very well because of the lousy J5 camera, but the wobbling is clearly seen.
Is it everyone's that wobbles this much in the middle or just mine?

I have the s8+ and i do not have this wobble you mention. tapping shows it seems hollow around the centre but i expect this as the back glass is secured around the edges where it is solid. It's the same with my s6.

Oh wow. I retract what I said. Mine is very sturdy compared to that. No wobble at all. Just seems "less solid than a solid ingot of glass". I can kinda hear a bit of hollow space behind the glass, but that's stretching it.
Yours seems defective. Very much so.
Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
yeah yours is definitely not right. there is no give in mine at all. it sounds hollow in the middle but that is all. return yours
Yeah, today's exactly 7th day since I got it. I'll have to do it tomorrow because of work, and it's gonna be a darn ordeal convincing Telenor that it's a defect.
The procedure is they'll send it to a certified repair service, I'll get some junk replacement and probably gonna get it back 2 weeks from now at best. I'll have to see if I'm able to pull some strings so that I at least get a new device afterwards and not the "here we repaired it" same one, as my company is one of their important (lol) clients.
"Certified service partners" are very protected here, as opposed to consumers.
I'd like to have with me an example of a proper one, though. Or a video...
A question. Our company's technician says that he saw all the tests about s8 as he wants to buy it, and that the back glass has to be bendable, so that in case of breaking it doesn't shatter to pieces, but remains composite. It sounds plausible enough, but why the screen is not as bendable as the back, it's the same G5 glass?
Could it be that you guys check on different lighting conditions if it bends a bit? In the video I made I barely pressed the back at all.
I don't want to go through the whole return procedure just to get it back with the same explanation. It would mean a lot to me.
Thanks in advance
I had the silver one and it was for sure glass but now I have the all black and im pretty sure it's plastic

There is no way I assure you if its a legit device it was glass That is part of the advertisement specs and all.Only option was sprint was selling clones or it was a refurb with a aftermarket back witch is highly unlikely as even Company's like Assurion use glass backs
Now the glass will have some flex to it not much I wouldn't suggest bending or such.
If its not real glass its either been replaced or said above

Sleek solid "New" Note 10+ Schnail case

First I like to thank Schnail for providing me with their Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ case to tryout and review. After unboxing the case which is very nicely boxed up I noticed a small card which tells the buyer that a portion of the proceeds goes to charities to fight cancer. As someone who has lost two family members to cancer that meant a lot to me. That same card provides simple instructions to put the case unto the phone. It also directs the buyer to activate the 1-year warranty on their website. Also in the package is a photocopy handwritten note to the buyer, a nice touch.
On to the case review. It is a two piece case. The back part of the case is clear, to showcase the back of the beautiful Note 10+ back. It has a harden rubber side with reinforced corners. It also has that same rubber imbedded in the back portion of the case in the form of a small thin bead and nameplate. This seems to be a well thought out design to keep the clear back from touching the surface it rests on, thereby avoiding scratches to the clear back. Very nice!
I was disappointed at first to see the bottom speaker cutout was missing from the back portion of the case. After putting the case together I noticed there was indeed a bottom speaker grill in the top portion of the case. The sound seems to be redirected out of the front of the case this way somewhat similar to the top speaker. I thought this might muffle the sound, but I really did not notice this, and in fact the sound may actually be better.
The top portion of the case is a rigid plastic that snaps over the phone. It has a raised top and bottom to keep the face of the screen from touching the surface when laying face down. The top portion when snapped onto the phone does not seem to interfere with the curved edges of the phone and while I still have the original Samsung installed screen saver on my Note 10+ I believe this case would not interfere with any screen protector.
The case feels great in my hands, and my phone just feels secure and well protected. This case is every bit as protective as some of the higher priced cases I’ve used on other devices. The power/Bixby button and the up and down volume buttons are rather small compared to my other case, but they seem to be raised enough for me to find them without looking. The power port and the S-pen dock are deep. This seems to make for issues getting the s-pen out of the phone with case on. This is not a show stopper, but is the one flaw that I see so far. I’ll use the case for a bit to determine if it is an issue. Wireless charging with the case on works as it should.
Overall I find this case to be one of the best I’ve ever used. The difficult s-pen aside, a lot of thought has gone into this case, with plenty of focus on protecting your valuable asset. I think they have done a great job with this case.
UPDATE:
Having had the case on the phone continuously for the last 10 days I have some additional information. My initial fear of the s-pen hole being too small to access the pen has proven not to be an issue for me. I can say that someone with bigger fingers probably would find this to be problematic. Also my question about the sound quality has also not been a problem for me. I’ve used the phone to play music and as a conference device and the quality of sound has been impressive. So no issue there either. As for protection the case has performed very well there to. I dropped my new getting out of my truck shortly after installing the case and picked up my phone in horror only to see not a scratch or crak on my phone. The case itself also had no signs of the fall. I did notice that the clear back that showcased my beautiful device is starting to scratch up from being in my pocket or sliding on the table. It is not surprising to me and certainly not something that would stop me from buying the case, but I do expect in time it will look pretty bad.
Overall I’m impressed with the quality of the case and how thin it is. I’ve decided to keep this case on the phone as my daily driver.
So hang on, you do a review of a phone case, but you don't post pictures of how it looks?

Window shopping doesn't clutter my desk I've have always bought way too many case for every phone I've had, and always end up with a bunch of cases I only used one time. Before I got this phone I said wasn't gonna do that. I've got 2 cases and the S-View Flip Cover for my 10+, so I don't need to buy anymore
