[Q] USB Digital TV Tuner for Thrive? - Thrive General

Yes, I know this has been asked on the Xoom and Transformer forums.
And on the Archos Gen 8 they have a working setup: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=871391
Question is, Will a USB TV tuner setup like the one for the Archos work under Honeycomb on the Thrive? If not, what will need to be done?
Comments / Suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks.

USB Digital TV tuner?
Well, guess that after almost 3 and a half months and 412 views there is no interest for this feature for the Thrive.
Thanks.

If there is an app that will control the device and droivers for HC for the device, then yes. Otherwise, no.

Pretty disappointed with 3.1 so far....

Can we have an I/O thread to talk about all the particular things being announced? A major thing the emulator folks will love is the usb host capabilities with the Xbox360 controller.
Cant believe still no bluetooth mouse...
I have tried to update mine over wireless with no luck. Does it have to be connected to the verizon network?

What bluetooth keyboard should i get? Please help

I have both a kindle fire and an ipad 2. Is there a wireless keyboard i can get that will work with both devices (once fire gets bluetooth).
I'm thinking this....
logitech.com/en-us/1200/8214
or this...
logitech.com/en-us/1222/8232
Does it matter? Will one only work with android and the other only with Ipad or are they universal? because I am 99% sure they are actually the same keyboard. If they are not universal is there a wireless bluetooth keyboard i can get that will work with both. (links would be great)
Thanks!
You get that bluetooth doesn't work for the Fire but are asking for a bluetooth keyboard that works for the Fire?
Huh? I am asking for one that will work for both the fire and the Ipad 2.

I'm setting a reminder. When there is a ROM with Bluetooth support, I will let you know which keyboard will work with the Kfire.
If you purchase a Bluetooth keyboard specifically with the intention of using it with your Kindle Fire, prepare to be disappointed....forever.

Kinda like the SGS Vibrant can pick up FM radio? Or the Sprint HTC Hero can be used on GSM networks?
(hint: I'm being facetious - neither of those are true)
You'd think that after all these years people would stop looking at just the CPU Spec-sheet before they proclaim so loudly that a device has the ability to do something out of the box. And that just a simple tweak in a custom ROM will add what the manufacturer was too stupid to figure out...

No, they are not deluded in having hope given how much this parallels the Nook Color's example of getting BT enabled in software that was included in the wifi chip (just like the Fire). Saying it's guaranteed to work is definitely not true though, since it could possibly rely on additional power or data pins on that chip that may or may not be connected. Back on the hopeful side, given that the Fire is based on the BB Playbook hardware (which has working Bluetooth) I doubt Quanta went out of their way to modify the system board just to physically disable BT
I use the Apple bluetooth keyboard. Nice size. Can be gotten for less than $40 by buying bulk version. Even cheaper if you get a clone.

How?? It takes more than a software change to make bluetooth work. If bluetooth is possible on the Kindle Fire, I think it would already be working and featured. Is there a dormant bluetooth radio inside the Kindle Fire?

What is the newest P7510 rom if I want to go back (and not have to reroot) and what are the best 1 or 2 custom roms?
Too many in development section to know what I am looking at.
Links would be helpful.
Thanks
Also when is the official ics coming out.

You're going to get an answer that says every custom ROM is the best. because it its all opinion, personal preference, and device specific.
Task14 is the best IMHO. I'm using a USA wifi only GT-P7510
As far as newest, I don't remember.
Official ICS? Some may have estimated guesses, but there isn't an officially confirmed date I've seen.
If you can read this it was sent using my GT-P7510.
If you want stable and fast then Task 14 is the best..
CleanROM, Overcome and BinDroid are also nice..
If you want bleeding edge with bugs then try AOKP..
Thanks. I'll try it. Is there a way to back up the current rom I have to restore it if I want and can't find the official one?
Yup.. While in CWM select backup and let it complete before wipe and new rom install

The gtab has virtually no roms compared to the s2. Its impossible trying to distinguish one from another in the dev section. :L

Got task 14 on here now. Doesn't seem too different.
HDMI Mirroring
Does Task14 support HDMI mirroring through the adapter. I already bought the adapter thinking that mirroring works automatically.

i have no idea
Thanks. I did stumble upon this page. It doesn't say anything about HDMI mirroring.
Anyways, ill just try and will then update the thread.
it works but ..
HDMI mirroring works. I would rather say it doesn't work. When I checked the forum, I see that the screen flickers every few seconds. Mine flickers a few times every second. It's a software bug which can be solved by flashing Pershoot kernel in recovery mode.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138167
Will try it tomorrow.

ok thanks. i do have pershoot, but i dont use hdmi mirroring. i dont see the need for it. i am usually watching tv or shows on the dvr with my tablet in my hand.
what do u use it for?
recording
This is my office tablet and we need it for HD recording.
My boss bought a Asus EEE Pad Transformer TF101 (not Prime) tablet which does HDMI mirroring out of the box. So, I am not be dealing with kernel flashing for now. Hopefully, in the future.

Have any of y'all found a way for the Nexus 7 to work with an MHL Adapter? I don't wanna have to buy a new adapter just to get this thing on the tele. Lol

Is it possible to emulate or virtualize such hardware?
For an example, my Realtek HD audio chip on my motherboard doesn't support Dolby Digital Live traditionally (lacks the hardware chip). But it can instead use the CPU for this task with proper drivers.

Using rooted device as an Android TV

Hi all. I have been researching the possibility of using my S3 as an add-on for my Smart TV. It's an LG with webOS. Is there anyway to get a similar experience as with the Amazon fire TV but using the rooted phone? I have looked at the post using a launcher but this is more like just mirroring with a different UI. Any suggestions or pointers to some development. I apologise if this is the wrong forum (sorry moderators) but couldn't decide where to post

If your device supports HDMI output then you could just buy the cable and a bluetooth remote. You'd then basically have what you're describing.
