Just left the sprint store. phone has been flakey since I got a replacement. Rep claimed sprint is having network problems in Indiana for sure and 2 other states at least. Im pretty sure he said Kentucky was one of the other states. Anyway problems have supposedly been going on for 3 weeks. For real, or was he just trying to get rid of me?

I have had issues as well. The network has become oversaturated with users in a few areas bringing the network to a crawl. You could try someone else's phone to see if they also have that issue. If they don't then you can request a new phone.
I have really slow data in my area. I'm hoping it gets fixed soon.
Soon isn't in Sprints vocabulary. Our data has been unsable since July 2010...yes 2010. Estimated fix from Sprint? December 2011!

he is not lying. Ever since the national sms outage the networks had trouble catching up. In fact, we even went so far as posting a sign on our store's door stating the issue

As the network guy told me...don't expect much done to the network until network vision hits your area. Some areas could be waiting a couple of years.
Sprint was already behind from their last network update freeze. They did a few upgrades but all the new phones ate through it. Now they are further behind than before. Network vision needs to hurry.
No kidding. At home (suburb MN) I got decent 3G speed, but at work (downtown Minneapolis) 3G is basically unusable. I am just glad I am on SERO so I don't feel as ripped off by the slow speed..

Yes. Mine does that when the 3g becomes so unusable it falls back to 1X

Fluctuation in speed will happen. Try it again in a hour and see what you get. Did you run the speed tests in the same location.
I've been seeing more and more of these threads popup. Something is up.

My 3G speeds were bad all of Dec. now they're good.
Didn't mean to add another thread. Was going I wasn't alone on this. I've gone through 3 different roms and a slew of kernels thinking it was them. Bummer.

Wow! That's actually what I was seeing earlier. Don't know what's going on cause soon as I made my post that I was getting 1.2mbps, it dropped to nearly nothing. Smh..

Same thing is happening to me.
Like I said something is up. Sprint data used to be the best in NYC. Man, I also wish that they upgraded to Rev. B for the next flagship phone. I know, wishful thinking but Id prefer that over WiMax for everyday use

Check your mobile internet settings. I just flashed cm7 and it has a couple of new selections...like international roaming, which was preselected. Also, it was preselected to roam on national affiliate networks. Since a lot of these roms are from people "across the pond" as they say, it will default to their servers. So, de-select those options and it will find a server closer to where you live. It is pretty kewl as it does switch to another network, but it is only 1rt speed, not 3G, so it didn't make my connection any faster. There are several threads out there on this about slow 3G speeds. I can only hope that with the 4G coming online, maybe the spectrum will open up to allow faster 3G speeds.

Tho even swapped back to the closest server (Germantown WI) , my speed still sucked..So I called sprint when I got home and told him my results compared to an ATT and Verizon phones while they were right next to me, and they were 6-7x faster then mine.
The CSR told me that its possible with northern Ill. getting 4G its working its way north into Wisconsin,and that could be affecting towers here while they transition..
Frankly I dont buy it. 2-3 weeks ago it was great, since then, 360kb is common. Also in the phone call I told him that I have no issues paying the $10 premium data charge, but if my phone keeps chugging along as it is now, I will be calling back since there is no way in hell I can take advantage of this "premium data" when I cant even watch a video on YouTube without constant pauses and other downloads basically crawling along.

I chatted with a rep last night and they gave me the whole "there are no issues" song and dance. Clearly with so many people noticing this in so many different areas there is SOMETHING wrong with Sprints network. Either that or theyre throttling their speeds thinking people wont notice.
The csr i spoke to said he was going to push something thru to my phone and I should reboot it..which I did..
I see somewhat of an improvement at home (I THINK theres a relay on the watertower near my house but im not sure) and its now about 1.4mb down...Tho most of my issues are when im away from home and not near WiFi lol
I really hope Sprint isnt pulling a ninja throttle job on us to ease up the network for all the new subs
I just spoke to a Sprint rep, because my data connection/browsing was drastically slow or not working at all. They informed me that areas in Florida are experiencing a data outage. I'm located in the Central Florida. The rep said they hope to have the outage resolved by the end of today. Anyone in Florida, not just my area having any data issues?

Hmm, well I used odin to update to eb13 and I'm running ext4 TER v3. EB13 wouldn't be causing my phone to have these data issues would it? I mean I know eb13 has some data connectivity issues but not this severe.

My speeds fluctuate from molasses to dog poo to tolerable, but it still works. South central PA.
ETA: I'm using Stock EB13 with the Genocide Kernel .3a for what it's worth.

At this point in time, I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that they have some MAJOR PROBLEMS and they COULD CARE LESS ABOUT ACTUALLY FIXING THEM.
It's been going on for MONTHS.
Its 'unlimited data', but you're going to be hard pressed to actually use it because they sucked in a ton of new users with the EVO release, then cut just about every program, haven't fixed the obvious problems for months and no one has any proof that they've actually tried to fix it, let alone actually fixed it.
RIGHT NOW: Everybody with Sprint is getting AOL speeds and its 2011.
Yah Sprint's not exactly fast lately. On a good day I can get around 1200kbps. For the last few days it's been between 250 and 450kbps. Latency is still okay though.
We'll dchawk those low speeds of yours crush my top speeds atm. I'm getting like 3 - 10kps d/l and that's if I can even connect the speedtest app.

Yup; I get 60-70kbps usually... It sucks. If I am in certain hot spots I can get 300-600 but it is only in certain areas, lots of grey zones down here.

Oh I get those really low speeds too occasionally. I work from home though so the biggest variable is time of day rather than location.
Ironically, when I'm out and about it's for a reason that keeps me too busy to use the phone...especially the data.
Jacksonville up north, working at 100% efficiency.

For me occasionally means 99.999% of the time.
There are a few hotspots I can stand in where it get in the low hundreds, but 60k is 'normal' speed here. When there is a drop it is <10k or no data service.

Oh okay. I can even force roaming and get a consistent 130kbps (1G I guess) if desperate. 60kbps is definitely not normal.
Blame Ericcson. The network management vendor of Sprint.
Sprint doesn't actually manage their own towers.
Sprint has a major outage going on in Houston apparently, i called 3 days ago and they said 68 zip codes were affected. Considering Houston is the 4th largest city in the U.S, that's unacceptable.
Jacksonville is experiencing outages.. At least around the South Jax Beach/Ponte Vedra area.. Started around 10:00 this morning.. My phone won't make or recieve calls, or send or recieve text messages, BUT my internet works fine.. Sprint said it's a voice tower down..
Been almost a year and my 3g service is poor outside, and still no 4g in my area of south jersey. I really luv this evo, but my girl has thunderbolt from verizon and her service is amazing with no signal problems! Sorry had to vent, but sprint needs to get there 3 and 4 g up to speed or im making the jump to verizon! They should not advertise 4g when its not even available!

Huh... Clear map says you have coverage... take the 4g issue up with them. Call Sprint with your 3g issues, you might get a credit. ALso, if you jump ship remember SPrint own 3times as much spectrum then Verizon or Att. Eventually when their networks are congested, Sprint will have plenty more to play with.
i agree..3g here has been horrible since november of last year and verizons service here is awesome..on top of that verizon lte will be in my area in a few months...even more of a reason to jump ship..
Hey, 4g is in philly, not south jersey, we get the ****ty outcast signal , i want 4g all over south jersey! Were now in quarter 1 of 2011 when this phone has been out for almost a year! Yea and by the time Sprint actually implements that spectrum and puts it to use itll be years from now.
I just jumped...well tomorrow my tbolt will be here. Wanted to stay but couldnt take the data issues. They waved my etf cause ive been complaining once a wk since nov. It wasnt easy getting them to wave it. Others are jumping to.

I just jumped ship from TMO to Sprint because I couldn't get 3G anywhere near home here in Oklahoma but every single other carrier had it. I have had great experience with Sprints 3G. What are you guys speeds? I download at a consistent 1mbit or better.

Dude.....if that takes 30 mins, then you should switch RIGHT NOW. i love the EVO and all of its glory but you should at least get a phone that is enjoyable to have.
I guess I got it good in Houston. My 3G speeds are good, 4G is even better. If they were as you are describing I would have ditched sprint a long time ago!
I'm a long way from you guys, near Toronto, well, between Toronto and Detroit. I did a quick speed test tonight and my hsupa speeds were faster than when I'm home on wifi!? I'll post some #'s momentarily.

Seems, even by what is stated in the Orlando Sentinel article, that the network was put into place just to "fill gaps" in the coverage as it was pretty pathetic before. I was just there on April 1st, and I wasn't seeing any difference there than I do at my house over closer to downtown. However, it is nice that they decided to build it out to support the capability...when our phones can actually use it is another story altogether.
I've got an Atrix and I get around 3Mbs down and around 300k up both at home and at the airport.
From what I've read, it seems that a phone update will be required to turn it on anyway...but if ATT can be believed, we might get to see it this month sometime.

That unfortunately doesn't exist. We can only hope to get it soon. I had one of the att reps back in december tell me that my signal had gone from good to absolute crap because orlando was a test market for 4G so one can only hope that a simple flip of the imaginary switch will give us 4G aka 3G+

There's signal issues at disney I think there might be some issue with att putting up towers on property. Similar to how the airport used to be but att pays MCO a decent amount to have put up the towers up

I don't know about you, but is anyone else a little surprised by how many Central Floridians there are posting in this thread? That means.... using an Atrix and knowing a thing or two about making it better! Pretty cool, I guess none of you "feel safe enough" or "like Orlando" enough to list your location on the profile to display with each post though! haha
I have orlando listed in my info, have since day one of joining this sight.....
And in regards to a 4G coverage map they dont realy exist.... I work for AT&T and do customer service in the call center by UCF and there is no info in regards to when the update will be released for the Atrix/Inspire .... Or what the coverage looks like
All I know when I check are network coverage tool and look at the towers in the downtown orlando area none of time are listed as HSPA..... They are all still reporting UMTS only, and there is no info about the backhaul or updates to the towers that I have checked...
Sitting in MCO as I post this. Have worked here for the last 4 years and will say that they have made vast improvements on the tower infrastructure here. Used to be that you would get no reception out at the 1-60 gates end of the airport. That's all fixed. Of course still getting the typical 3mbs down .3 up here so will see when ATT lets the update go. I sure it is a simple update that won't require me to go though what I did with the last. Not that the last was hard, just a pain....
Well today i sold my epic for an evo3d and some cash. Im another victim of the bestbuy preorder fiasco but kept my commitment to my buddy to sell him my phone. Well wile we were swapping esns the phones were having a really hard time connecting to sprints towers once they were taken off the network. Everything went fine we could call out on the phones and text but the prls wouldnt update. He switched me to a tech who once he saw i was calling from baltimore told me "man its gona take a while to get your update im seeing here that there is major work going on with the baltimore towers right now" i said what kind of work not even thinkin bout lte but pissed bout no data connection on my phone. He thes said "well there not as far along as expected with the lte launch in baltimore so sprint pulled 100s of techs from the mid atlantic region and has them in baltimore working right now"
