Motorola Triumph! - EVO 4G General

Any one getting this phone when it comes out around July 19, for probably 300 dollars. What're your opinions on it? I'm definitely excited for it.

Lol, I have been looking at that Photon pretty hard though.

I might, $25 a month for unlimited text and data? Alright! Only 300 minutes though? Eh, I would see how I would do with that and then go from there. The Triumph is actually faster than what the Evo is, and is pure AOSP. Only thing missing is gingerbread, but as long as there's froyo for flash and netflix, well I'm okay with sticking with Froyo. Wouldn't be surprised to see a small development community for this device either.

Ehh my thoughts on moto might just deter me enough to stay away.

I thought about that at first, but then I looked at a software point instead of a hardware point, I'm not a fan of Motorola at all. If I get this thing, it'll be my first Motorola phone that I won't want to throw at a wall and that's because Android is pure AOSP on this baby.

Motorola=FAIL

What's the point of staying a loyal customer to sprint?
I saw that on android central, and al I can say is le boo.
Well, at least they are moving the new customer pricing up to 20 months for upgrades, that's cool.

Those one year upgrades have got to cost them a bundle. That's the only perk I'll miss.
Well...at least we get 20 month upgrades. But the rest sucks.
Looks like ill have to go back to getting 1 year upgrades from assurion.

But really, what % of lines qualify for that? Sprint premier is something that helped them keep customers long term. Now people won't have an incentive to stay. Now the only thing Sprint will have to hold it's hat over T-mo is true unlimited data.

How often do they not have replacement phone at assurion?
coming next.... true unlimited data goes away. after that price increases to match the competition. i'm done with sprint. my service has been too shoddy recently in areas that other companies have been good (including ATT) if i'm going to end up paying the same amount as those companies i'm jumping ship.

Are you talking about at Sprint or Best Buy? Also since they are doing away with the Premiere program you will be with that phone for 20 months. It seems like a good phone but just seen a glimpse of the Galaxy III for 2012 and may just wait. Anxious to see what the Devs will do with Gingerbread source code.
Are you going for it?

No I'm not getting it but was curious how they would handle the 75 upgrade as sprint no longer let's you get gold status as of 10-1 as of my talk with them earlier.. I had my eyes on the nexus prime or new quad core phones in 1st 1/4 next year. My 150 upgrade isn't till 8/1/12 btw

That's right. I would venture 90+% of people have NO CLUE what Gingerbread is, nor what version of Android they're currently running. They see an update come through, install it, and go about their business. A select few of them may notice something different with the looks, but that's about it. They may notice something looks different, but only because one of their apps (I'm thinking Eclair vs. Froyo messaging) looks a bit different. If that's the case, they probably assume the update was just for that app...
If Samsung is throwing around Gingerbread all over the Epic (as well as most of the US galaxy s series) have not gotten, maybe it is the carriers holding everything up. All of the updated GBs have been through Kies and for some reasn Sprint don't want the Epic on Kies.

At this point i'm stuck with my epic for another year min. While i'm fine with that it would really easy to live with if I had an official release. at this point I wish they would just release what they have good or bad and our awesome developers here will fix it. Heck what ever they release wouldn't be as good as what our developers do anyway. So close enough I say, release EH17 source and get out of our way!!!!

Want a new phone early? Here's how!

http://www.sprintfeed.com/2012/02/sprint-to-offer-early-upgrade-buyout-program/
The article basically explains that if you have had your phone for longer than 9 months, you can "upgrade now" for a slightly higher price. For example, I will have had my Epic for 18 months as of March, meaning I will only have to pay $19 more than the original upgrade fee, and can get a new phone 4 months earlier than what I originally intended to do.
The deal only lasts until April 14 of this year, so if you're willing to spend an extra $20, you can get a new phone today (or next month, assuming you had your phone in September)!
I'm guessing they're trying to empty inventory of epic touch, photon, etc before the summer's new phones hit.

Picking up a GS3 from Verizon tomorrow. Sad to leave this awesome Sprint community and my first smartphone that actually lasted me the entire length of the contract. Also kinda sad that I'm gonna have to keep track of data and hope for workarounds with the Verizon version of the device. But I'll be saving money by jumping back onto my family plan (now that they all have data too, only gonna cost me $40 instead of $75 by myself on Sprint) and the improved signal and service should be nice as well. Thanks to all the developers and members here for doing some AWESOME stuff with the Epic 4G for sure!
I have a fun fact for you "upgraders". Your S3 is going to be new, shiny, and exciting. For us late bloomers who got the epic a year after you did, well, let's just say the LTE quad cores with unreleased swag and EPIC upgrades will make you butthurt. So there!!!!! Yes, I might be an idiot.

They won't do it unless it is blue to blue. The model number has to match exactly. I had to swap my white for a blue to get the $50 back.

LMAO!!! thanks for your honesty dude
I got my white price matched with absolutely no issues, try it out... also I am returning the s III and waiting out for the Photon Q ... I thought I could do without the keyboard, but I miss it too much. I am not as productive with the virtual keyboard as I am with a regular keyboard. It's not even that the VK is soo bad, but I am more likely to put off things like enter calendar dates and take notes and reminders because it is more of a hassle than with a physical keyboard. It was also a bit too big for me to comfortably use with one hand.
Bottom line is if you are thinking about switching but are attached to the keyboard, you may want to wait for a little longer to see if another slider comes out. I think a 4.3" slider with a 720p screen would be absolutely perfect.
I just played with the GS3 and I have to say it doesn't feel as solid in hand as the gnex, gs2, and especially the evo lte. However, it seemed the most fluid of them all.

Depends on the BBY. I walked in, asked some questions about the buyback and protection plans, then said, hey, do you price match Radioshack's deal; the associate called Radioshack, they said $150, he said okay. Color wasn't even a thing.
