Thanks, responders, for explaining what this actually does.

All it gave me is what I get if I upgrade my phone to a new one. What's the point???

on your android phone you can just use the sprint zone app to check your upgrade eligibility.

it tells you when you are eligible for an upgrade on your phone. i.e $75 off w/new 2-yr contract after 1 year, etc. nice little thing to know

I still can't figure that out. I know my account is new with sprint. See ya big red (had to get that jab in there...lol). Anywho according to it by the plan I have I should b a gold member but there is nothing that says that on my account.

I have no idea what gold member means, but I know for me it says "upgrade eligibility info unavailable for this account type." I am assuming that is because I am part of the employee advantage club though. Gotta love yearly phone upgrades

you get certain discounts and offers after a year.

It says that I save $150 w/ 2 yr contract starting 08/01/11

I'm able to upgrade yearly, so in August I'll see what's out there. If nothing takes better pictures and video than the Epic, I'll keep the Epic.

I figured since there isn't a topic on this handset yet that I'd go ahead and start one. Android spin is reporting the phone will release on sprint by the end of July. Does anyone have any information on what will be different about the handset other than the radio. I don't see why sprint would give it a different moniker if its the same as the international version.

Whosdaman got an email from his source saying that it would be coming at that date. From what I see WiThin=WiMax+Thin. So, they're marketing two features of the phone(4G and size) with one name. So, that's my guess t the name change.

Hmm I never thought about that lol that makes sense then. I thought it was within like within my soul lol I can't wait for this phone. I got my brother in law to jump ship from his iphone and he says he has "digital explodgasms" over it lol great success!! (borat voice)

Nice. It'll have ben out 2-3 months before my upgrade is due, so I doubt I'll get it to turn around and a new phone come out.

it'd probably be cheaper to buy a brand new one from craigslist or ebay than to use your 75 discount and lose atleast a year of your contract agreement

I just upgraded to the epic a month ago lol, looks like I'll have to put a few bucks to the side till its offically released

I have been sitting on my upgrade since february, preordered the evo 3d, then heard about this phone a few weeks ago. If you look at the specs, this thing blows the evo 3d out of the water. Internal memory is huge and the bench marks are insane. So, it looks like I will be sticking with samsung.

Happy I got my epic brand new in box from a friend for 3bills. I refuse to lock a contract.

Best way to do it. Ill probably sell my epic on Craigslist and but the within on Craigslist or eBay. I hate signing contracts

been sitting on my upgrade since february as well, specifically for the sgs2. i had the moment, intercept, transform, and the epic so i might as well keep her goin samsung style.

So I got my Epic in December. I stupidly locked into a 2 yr contact. I definitely want this phone tho. Even if it means breaking my contract and starting a new one. What's the smartest route to take?

Those one year upgrades have got to cost them a bundle. That's the only perk I'll miss.

Well...at least we get 20 month upgrades. But the rest sucks.

Looks like ill have to go back to getting 1 year upgrades from assurion.

But really, what % of lines qualify for that? Sprint premier is something that helped them keep customers long term. Now people won't have an incentive to stay. Now the only thing Sprint will have to hold it's hat over T-mo is true unlimited data.

Wow!!! That really sucks big time :S BIG TIME....I really hate this.

coming next.... true unlimited data goes away. after that price increases to match the competition. i'm done with sprint. my service has been too shoddy recently in areas that other companies have been good (including ATT) if i'm going to end up paying the same amount as those companies i'm jumping ship.

Ugh, why Sprint? One of the things I liked about you was actually caring about us customers. Now with this, the iPhone, maybe eliminating our unlimited data it just seems they want to be like Verizon and AT&T and be "one of the big boys on the block."

That is totally GACHO ! This was one of the major benefits of staying with Sprint all these past 7 years ..... they better NOT change the unlimited data or they will lose customers because that is another main reason for choosing Sprint !

Well I've been a customer for 15 yrs. I still say they are better than the other carriers but i'm tired of getting dicked over. But that is the new company standard?

The first time someone sucsesfully pulls this, I garuantee there will be a massive thread. That's how I got a diamond (they were out of the vogue) and a tp2 (they were out of touch pro 1s)
It happens. Thbey usually will be out of stock for a few days while they are awaiting refurbs and will have to offer something from the authorized exchange list.
Its amazing how many phones take a bath that week.

My screen is messed up (static lines all across the bottom half of screen) and they are back ordering me a refurb one.. Should get it in a few days.
Also, my upgrade is September 1st.. I'm debating between the sgs3 and the htc evo.. Hmm

You should just etf for 100 and upgrade today. 100-42=58, so 58+199=257, which is probably worth it. Only 50 more and you upgrade today. Cancel the backorder.
That's just my opinion though. Not sure if you have to pay the deductible on the backordered epic. If so, definitely etf.

He doesn't have to etf. He can pay $50 for early upgrade with how close he is, like I did. So $50 - $42 + $ of device he upgrades to. All in all he pays $8 extra to upgrade now.

I thought I read that sprint got rid of the early upgrade program. From what I read, even if its a day before your upgrade, you have to etf.

Unfortunately since mobile odin is not available on our device yet, you need a computer.
And just to warn you about walmart, I have never bought from them, but Sprint may not support you if you buy from them rather than sprint. They may not fix your device if something happens to it, depending on how nice the associate is and what store you go to. Also, if you change your contract after 30 days and before 180 days (6 months), walmart will charge you 375 I think.

I think fully-working ones are $54, at least according to the associates at my store and the website.
Not sure about bestbuy.
Just make sure before you buy from a 3rd party retailer, read the terms and conditions to decide if the initial price difference is worth it, and read reviews from people to see if they got screwed or not.

You have to pay to reset your upgrade, but it's based on how far into your contract you are. At how close he is he would only pay $50 like I did. And the offer for a fully working Epic is $42. I just did all of this this month when I got my Nexus.

Best buy does price match so if you take a picture of the price on the gs3 and take it there you can get the gs3 for 150.00 that is what I am going to be doing.

Mine was done too...and due to the s3 being like A LOT right now, I think i'm just gonna wait because there are a lot of things that are supposed to hit the mobile market between now and the end of the year

Verizon is expensive!! We looked into it. Just saying... We decided to stay with Sprint cuz we use like 10-20gigs of data a month

Same reason I'm with Sprint. We use waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy to much Data to go with any other Carrier. Hellrison would cost me double plus.

Yeah I'm probably underestimating our data usage
