[Q] What bloatware apks are ok to remove from a stock ROM on the Bravo? - Bravo General

Just got a Bravo a couple of days ago. I have already rooted, and deleted some of the obvious bloatware apks. But I don't want to go any further until I know that other not so obvious apks are ok to delete. And I am not interested in flash custom ROMS. Thanks!

As far as I know the only AT&T app you need is the AT&T music player if you wish to listen to the fm radio. Otherwise all the att app's + vlingo can be deleted.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=972459 This is a pretty comprehensive list developed for the Atrix (another Motorola/AT&T phone). I haven't had any issues freezing all of the mentioned apps. (You might want to try freezing them before you delete, just in case)

Updating Stock (Vibrant) Apps

Do the apps that were installed stock, (ie slacker) on the phone, ever get updated through the market, or do you have to wait for a firmware update like froyo.
Or do you install the app form the market, overwrite stock, so you cna receive updates? Just curious.
Thanks.
I'm not sure. I don't use many of the stock apps. But several people have recommended dumping the stock apps and installing the market versions.
See the stickie for how to root then get rid of bloatware.
Ive done that already, this was just a general question.
Im actually having an issue removing the stock visual voicemail app. it will not be moved or deleted. and when installing from the market, it tells me that it is not properly signed.

Some of the preinstalled apps are just ordinary Market apps installed as part of some unholy marketing alliance among the carrier and the app providers. Examples of these include Slacker, Amazon MP3, etc. (Why did T-Mobile disable FM Radio? Because that helps drive users who want to hear any kind of music into these marketing partners' hands. But I digress.)
To answer your specific question, Slacker updates will download OTA just like any other Market app updates. IIRC, mine already did.
Other preinstalled utility apps, such as Samsung's TouchWiz interface or its brain-dead replacement for the stock Google Contacts app, are probably handled differently. I think they would have to be pushed out in on OTA firmware update.
And features embedded in the actual Android operating system will need a Google update such as Froyo.
You cannot remove pre-installed apps, but you can "overwrite" them per say by downloading it via the market.

List of stock apps to remove safely after rooting

Hello,
Now that I rooted Bell’s Atrix (A big thank you for gladroot), I am dying to remove Motoblur related apps and social network apps. However, I read a posting that removing stock apps would cause problems later on with o/s updates.
I was wondering if somebody could guide me which apps I could remove without problems.
Thank you very much in advance!
there is a thread in the development forums that list all the bloatware that can be safely removed
Freeze them don't remove
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App

Hi janggu,
As rjayflo mentioned, DON'T remove them but just "freeze" them by "rename" those unwanted ".apk" file to ".bak" file extension. Since you have rooted your Atrix 4G, you may achieve this by download the "Root Explorer" from the market and "rename" those unwanted stock apps as accordingly.
Make sure you rename both the ".apk" and ".odex" for the targeted apps name. Enjoy!
for the Bell Atrix, I used this list as a starting point and also considered items from this list

[Q] Safe Bloatware to delete?

Trying this again....
(the other threads, a couple weeks old now, did not contain much information)
Rooted users, what software/apps have you removed (and noticed no unsatisfying results)?
Also, what did you use to delete/remove/freeze/disable?
What device do you have, easiest way is to use clean tool from Scott in the developers section, or simply flash Clean ROM
CleanRom
LG G2.
Not looking for a ROM. Looking to delete apps.

...Alright lets try once more. Who is you carrier? Clean tool is not a rom, it is a utility that removes bloat, it can be found in the AT&T dev section. IF you so wish to manually do something that someone with YEARS of experience has done for you automagically with the clean tool, there is a list in said post, with an entire list of all apps that were removed.
Most people use either root explorer, solid explore, rom toolbox pro, or titanium back up. Have a good one.
Verizon.
... I'm done
CleanRom

Any actual answers?

If you mean whether like on the Optimus G LG has locked down the apps so that if you uninstall them the ROM will refuse to boot, then that's a no. It's been confirmed that you can use Titanium to freeze and uninstall (or you could just flash cleanrom and it does the work for you).
thanks fr4nk1yn and droid_<3er, for the list and also the info. Just what I was looking for!

Need some advice regarding my new S4

I bought my S4 in Korea. It is a SHV 300S LTE device. Octa core sold through SKT.
I would like to remove all the bloatware, maximize battery life, and use nova launcher with the click UI icons.
Should I root my device? If so why? What are the top 5 ROMs?
Also what is the best / easiest method for backing up my device? (apps, info, ect)
Also, is there an app or software to which I manage my music preferably similar to itunes and iphone? Would like for the phone to be able to automatically add new music to my device and keep it up to date.
Sorry for all the questions. Any and all advice will be much appreciated. Thanks
Idk if your variant has any roms but the best roms on i9500 are Omega, Wanam and Crash ROMs. Theres Cyanogenmod too but thats in alpha I think.
You can remove bloatware with Titanium Backup after root and you can backupw ith it too. And CWM backups are good too.

How can I find out my variant? All I am seeing is SHV-300S.
Also I have not updated to 4.3. Should I do that first or after a root?

Removing bloatware is possible only after rooting your phone.
If you want to backup your device after rooting, you can do it if you will flash custom recovery (CWM or TWRP)
For backup without the root you can try Helium app from PlayStore.
I don't know if there is any custom ROM for your variant of S4, i'm sure if there is, you will find it here on xda.
I also don't know any app to sync music automaticly, simply i never needed one.
Hope that helps a little bit.

try cf-root

Debloat script for Lollipop stock rom?

Hey note 3 forum
i just rooted my wifes note 3 (n9005) and was searching for a debloat script that i could run to remove all that samsung bloatware.
unfortunately i wasnt able to find a up to date script for lollipop
the best i could find was that list of apps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470862
i wanted to avoid intalling a new rom or going through titanium backup to freeze apps one by one
so is there anything i havent found?
thanks in advance!
You'd be better off using Titanium to manually remove anything you don't want. One person's bloat is another person's essential app. Besides, it only takes a few minutes.
Wise words. However, is there a safe list of apps we can freeze/uninstall with TB?
