3.1 about to go live on non-US Xooms... WITH SD SUPPORT! - Xoom General

http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/22/motorola-xooms-in-android-3-1-update-that-activates-microsd-card/
You know that microSD card slot that's been laying dormant in your Motorola Xoom? Provided you don't reside in the US, that'll be getting activated soon as part of the tablet's Android 3.1 update, which is starting to roll out now and should have all of Europe covered within the next few weeks. Motorola explicitly identifies this as a firmware update for "non-US" Xooms, so Canadians would be well advised to check their software update utility, though the big question is why didn't the American 3.1 update include microSD support as well? What tangled web of intrigue lies behind this selective activation?

another thread for this?

Whoops a daisy.

It could very well be worse... It doesn't seem to be that uncommon to see 5 or so threads for the same subject especially at times of 'UPDATE'

Already being discussed here. Thread closed.

[SHW-m110s] Korean Anycall Galaxy S, Thread/FAQ/ReadMe/Discussion/Questions

Hi All,
I'm going to put this upfront, because it's more important than the FAQ. Though there names get repeated a bit in this post, a major credit goes to Koe & Appagom for providing a lot of know-how, testing, information sharing and answers to questions users have posted here. This thread wouldn't be half as valuable without them. They should probably consider getting donate links, as it's the popular thing to do around here anyways, and I'd surely give them a few 원 for some soju or their beverage/food of choice for enhancing my phone experience. If they do decide to do something like that, I'd encourage you to do the same if you've used their methods or have even delayed taking action until you saw and read about their successes, trials & tribulations before proceeding with anything risky.
Next important thing, please don't try to flash i9000 or any other SGS variant's firmware unless you are really prepared to experiment and fix your own problems.
I'm writing this because perhaps it will help us SHW-m110s users spread information and have a point of reference, perhaps even bookmark, to spread information specific to our phone. Many of our questions just get posted in the most recently replied to thread with the word "Korean" in it. Part of my goal will also be to provide an area that Korean users who speak little English will be able to post and have a discussion. I will start that process on my own and enlist help from others I know. Please feel free to contribute in any way you can in any of these areas.
With the Froyo update, I'd like to link to one of the more newsworthy and relevant development's due to increased system functionality we have at our disposal. Koe's guide on HowTo OpenVPN on the SHW-M110S (via StrongVPN and maybe others) can be found here Thanks KOE

By request, other links to other guides or important topics available on XDA (or elsewhere) for the Galaxy S series if you haven't already come across them or just need a point in the right direction will be posted here. So, please let me know if you feel there is some other required reading before the test :
[REF] BIG FAQ! {Flash/Root HOWTO} {ADB&Tutorials} {T&T} {FW-Guide} [MUST READ!]
So, on with the FAQ/guide:
*please note, this is a highly work-in-progress thread and is meant to be supplemental to, not in place of, better, more refined guides featured in the I9000 board. I started to plan this about 24 hours ago but there continue to be questions asked out of place so I'm rushing this a bit
Where can I find ROM "(insert name)"?
How do I update my phone?
Can I put a ROM from the i9000 or another SGS family on this device?
What frequencies does the cellular radio operate on?
Does that make this a world phone?
What limited functionality have users experienced overseas?
How do I use Voice search in Korean?
What else is different from the I9000 and other versions of the SGS?
How do I root my phone?
Where is Samsung Apps/Samsung Apps store?
Are there any other ways to download games in Korea?
Does SK Telecom support OTA updates?
How do I work the DMB tuner?
Why aren't the Secret Codes aren't working?
Can I change the SMS character limit from 80 to 160 characters?
Can we get Social Hub on the phone?
I want the boot animation, do you have it?
This FAQ is terrible, but I have a question...
Where can I find ROM "(insert name)"?
Koe seems to have kept a good list, here.
How do I update my phone?
Download Kies 2.0 here > click on the magnifying glass to the right of "Kies" > click on the white button "Kies 다운로드" > run the file > install > important set your location (left box) to Korea (I assume this to be the default) and your language (right box) can be the language of your choosing.
Can I put a ROM from the i9000 or another SGS family on this device?
This is one of those, 'if you have to ask...stay far far away questions'. Essentially you can come in here if you want a suggestion on what ROMs we might be using at the time, but no, for the love of God don't ask about i9000 or other device ROMs. If you know how to get yourself out of a pickle you wouldn't even need to ask, and if you try and fail you'll be asking us to get you out.
Right now most users are content with z4mod, though there are some Korean ROMs that will be brought up from time to time.
What frequencies does the cellular radio operate on?
*To be updated*
Does that make this a world phone?
XDA users have reported some phone functionality in Russia and the Philippines. And know specific carriers in the US that the phone may/may not be compatible with, and if this will work for users in the EU. It seems that most people, if they have the right APN information, have gotten working this in a variety of countries though there will be at least some U.S. carriers that aren't available and potentially other non-standard frequency users. Still, if I were living in another country I'd probably only get this from a distributor who I'd be able to get a refund from if I couldn't get it working - anything else and you're doing so at your own risk.
What limited functionality have users experienced overseas?
User ulrauko has reported no data functionality on his device in Russia.
It is recommended to work with a local carrier to get APN information to enter into your settings in order to maximize phone functionality. Some users may continue to have 3G problems after this, it might be possible to check setting "data roaming" in wireless & network > Mobile networks, but it'd be wise to check with your carrier to see what happens if you end up roaming onto another carriers towers.
Users precious_mew has reported that he can't use MMS due to his carrier while chester_go has reported an inability for his phone to see his phone number requiring him to edit his phone number (to any number, not necessarily his actual number) to send SMS without any problems receiving SMS. Since then, Chester has been able to "program" his SIM by using the following method:
-Removing the SIM card
-Placing it in another phone that has the "My Number" option (I used an iPhone, heard that older Sony Ericssons work too.)
-Entering my own number in international format (+63917~) (Prior to this, "Unknown" was also shown in the iPhone.)
-Inserting the SIM back to the M110s.

How do I use Voice search in Korean?
Voice Search can be changed in settings>voice & input>voice recognition settings>lanugage...
What else is different from the I9000 and other versions of the SGS?
For now, I assume that we have different cellular radios. Also, we have a T-DMB tuner. We were given different stock software, originally missing Swype and a few other things, since then we have received Swpye through a firmware upgrade. We do utilize different firmware for our SHW-m110s than the typical international versions.
How do I root my phone?
Appagom's Evolving, and well well-supported, Post.
Where is Samsung Apps/Samsung Apps store?
The Samsung Apps store in Korea is a subset of SK Telecom's store, I highly doubt this would be accessible overseas as I think it's SIM card dependent. There you will find a full version of Asphalt for a free download. Please note, some games, even western games such as Farm Frenzy only have Korean language menu, while Asphalt has both English and Korean. I'd also guess there is no 24 hour return policy, but any confirmation would be great, and I have to presume that charges will be added to your monthly phone bill. *As of Froyo SK has partially, and poorly, integrated part of their(?) app store into the marketplace in a separate tab called "SKT"
Are there any other ways to download games in Korea?
Being rooted will allow you to run MarketEnabler and fake a SIM code to be in one of a few countries. I don't think anyone on this thread knows the legality of such actions, so do so at your own risk.
*Note, as of Nov 15th, the Froyo update fast web installer is not functional. Will update if there is a change and I remember. Also, see Koe's guide to getting VPN working which can give you access to location restricted apps.
I hold out hope that fast web installer for AppBrain will be updated to work on the SGS, there are reports that some items such as GoogleEarth can be installed in this manner where users can't find the app in the marketplace.
There are also always "other ways" amongst them there are 3rd party sites such as slideme.org where you can find both paid and free games (some of which might not be available in the marketplace due to developer preference and/or marketplace restrictions). Slideme will work direct on the phone and you can also use it on your PC to download and sideload apps. As a matter of fact, games can be found by developers here at XDA which can be sideloaded. If you root your phone you will, hopefully, be able to use market enabler to sign as though you aren't in Korea (use wifi + airplane mode) and be able to download games directly from the marketplace. Additionally there are always the less legitimate ways.
Does SK Telecom support OTA updates?
User akbk84 reported to me in August that he did receive an OTA udpate. However, this was weeks after I had received my first, and I was perhaps on my 3rd or 4th update by then. He She (my apologies ) did, however, receive the most current update. I do not know what SK/Samsung plan going forward, perhaps just critical updates will be OTA. I personally have, and I kind of recall reading someone else might've, received an OTA camera update.
Update: In the t-store there is an app called T-Upgrade, we believe it is supposed to give OTA updates to the phone. After downloading it didn't help me get the newest FW, so I'll post further information when I hear of a success story.
How do I work the DMB tuner? The DMB tuner works best with the DMB antenna extended. Extend the DMB tuner, located on the top right of the phone above the power button.
The secret codes were changed, or removed from, or broken during, an August firmware update. For now, we will keep a running list of working secrete codes here:

Can I change the SMS character limit from 80 to 160 characters?
This seems to be a common question posed from people living outside of Korea. Handcent defaults to 160 characters before changing the message to an MMS, how this will affect your message setting and carrier costs have never been verified so please do some sort of conclusive test and update us. Within Korea, MMS/SMS have the same pricing and free allotment, so it doesn't seem to be necessary to have the 160 character difference, also I haven't heard anything about how this might affect the messages and how SKT would deal with and treat extra long SMS messages.
Can we get Social Hub on the phone?
As far as I know, no one has successfully extracted and loaded Social Hub onto our phones.
I want the boot animation, do you have it?
Yes, please go to this post for more information.
This FAQ is terrible, but I have a question...
Please ask, provide better answers, do whatever to help us improve our SHW-m110s experience.
Thanks all!

or instead of that, they should combine all the forums into one
no idea what their plans are, but it's really messy as it's right now
Agreed, if I wasn't busy writing this I might've actually posted a link in the Galaxy Tab forum regarding your proposal when I saw it pop up on my Google reader.

You are correct, this thread has paid for itself already!
i'm so envious.... USA and Korea, and many other countries already have unlimited data
but we in Canada still stuck with limited data
Ha, if I were still in the US I'd still be a bit jealous of the Korean system. U.S. buy a Galaxy S, get a gimped phone and be forced into a data plan (no FF camera, no tethering with the exception of Sprint in 4G areas). These days new contracts at the big two, AT&T and Verizon don't even get unlimited data IIRC (Verizon is implementing capped data, not sure on the timeframe)
In Korea you can buy a phone without a data plan, or a plan without a voice plan. Unlimited data plan with 200 texts and 300 minutes (I might've reversed those) is essentially less than half the price of the cheapest AT&T and Verizon plan with more than 1GB.
In summary, you can have:
contract free
no voice plan
no data plan
unlimited data on the super cheap
free tethering (not available on any carrier in the U.S. in the near future with the exception of Sprint but only on the 4G network)
Free wifi access points
Compared to Canada I pay less than 50CAD for my plan.
Also, not available on SKT, the carrier that has the SGS, but one more reason to be jealous of possibilities here...KT expands Wi-Fi coverage to all subways
I found these at an korean site.
It's used with odin to root the phone.

Your link is more recent than mine, I think there is some merits to using both, I think the method I have is safer and doesn't use ODIN but it'll take some research. I'll see if I can look into it tomorrow 3 am right now. In any case, I appreciate the search and the links.
*Edit* As I said before, I think the way I have posted is preferred by the Korean community, the most recent, popular hack going on there links to mine. According to the discussion at matp, I think there's a smaller chance of bricking with the method I posted. However, also like I said before, I think thought there might be merits to both, so I'll put your link on the front page as an option to those who want to use Odin. Either way, thanks again.

I definitely contemplated it, especially the most recently active thread. You have more experience here so I'll defer to your wisdom, so there wouldn't be much hard in essentially "bumping" those other threads by posting a link to here? Or is there another method that's preferable? The one thing about the most recently active thread was two people were having the same issue and I wasn't sure if they'd be in contact there. I definitely want them to be in contact in one place or the other, so bumping that might actually do them some good. I'll post the link there now.
One more question. I plan, or at least planned, on posting when we receive Froyo in a new thread (I think it'll at least give the community the "update is around the corner" feeling that they desperately crave) and they won't be going out of there way to be looking here. Also, it seems to be the general community practice, even posting rumors they here from some guy in a kiosk . Do you advise against me starting a new thread when that occurs? I could always still link here even though I think it'd be expected that a lot of the initial discussion would occur there.
thanks for the update sirphunkee , it's good to know the idea hasn't been dropped.
alovell83, feel free to create new topics for worthy information, as most likely people would like to add feedback, etc
you don't want everything in this topic, else it will become a big mess, so instead we'll use this stickied topic as an index for all new Korea SGS related topic discussions, and important announcements.
until we learn the fate of the Admin decision on how to improve the SGS family forums
Good to hear on both the integration and the sticky, sirphunkee, thanks! We're feeling more welcome here already! But now you make me wish I wrote a better thread, well, it's already Saturday here so I guess I can get to my planned improvements when I wake up. Hopefully work on getting a 3-button equipped SGS as well so I can get some better rooting info available. More importantly, I'll probably, finally, register at matpclub and tell them we have a special section over here and looking to share best practices with there community.
you might want to write up something for your fellow Koreans, about the trick to warm up the phone to enable the 3 button download mode.
I still can not believe it myself, but there have been mixed reports from people saying yes it works (3 buttons did not work before the heat), and no it doesn't work
so i'm really confused, but it's worth a try for a few guys that got the Korea SGS and got stuck because the ROM Flash failed

No prob I too would love to see a better organization of all the Galaxy sections...and I think the odds are very good that the final structure will be at least very similar to what's been proposed in AllGamer's poll (which is what we're using as the reference in the mod discussions).
Anyway, thanks for both of your efforts on all this, it is very much appreciated by both myself and the other users around here!

For people using the device outside of Korea, please fix for yourself. For domestic users who text alot, I wouldn't look for a fix, I'm under the impression you'll be charged for 4 texts if you use 241 bytes. While if you use MMS instead (the default when you go 81+ bytes) is counted as 1 message.
You need to have 3G on to send the MMS, which used to be annoying for me because I used to leave 3G off bc of 500mb limit, but they just started their unlimited data program so I now use 3G on 90% of the day.
In any case, do what is convenient for you.
Thanks for creating this thread alovell83.
Just to clear things out for FAQ #3, I was able to solve the issue PERMANENTLY by:
-Removing the SIM card
-Placing it in another phone that has the "My Number" option (I used an iPhone, heard that older Sony Ericssons work too.)
-Entering my own number in international format (+63917~) (Prior to this, "Unknown" was also shown in the iPhone.)
-Inserting the SIM back to the M110s.
There
PS I wasn't able to reply to you in the other thread, but 3G works now. I just had to enable data roaming on startup and use apndroid (avail. in market) to switch data on/off.

UPDATE coming this weekend - eLocity A7

Just got word we should have another update this weekend, possibly by today.
Main issues to be addressed in this current update are the SD Card available space issue, WIFI issues, and MAC address format issue.
This will be followed by another update in just a short time, they wanted to get those crucial updates out first. They are trying to walk the fine line of publishing too many updates and waiting too long in between them.
Stream TV Networks does remain committed to the eLocity A7 and is working to improve their customer service.

cpg716,
Since you have an ear, try to talk them into adding CIFs to the kernel and 3g USB support. That would make this tablet a strong competitor. Thanks for the update.

Official update for XOOM WiFi

I've just spoken with Motorola Product Support Specialist Level 3 to solve on of my problem and during conversation I learn how Motorola will make update for XOOM WiFi tablet after it will become available. According to information from Motorola specialist all WiFi user will need to mail their devices to Motorola Depo and they will update you tablet and after send it back to you. So right now don't have information that update will be available over the air. Support engineers confirmed that 3G version will be updated over the air and WiFi version should be mail to Motorola Depo
I try to clarify the reason of that and got answer that size of the update it to big and becuase of WiFi version doesn't have Cell provider it's no possible to push update on the device. He doesn't sure that correct on 100%, but Motorola Product support database shows only that information.
I make request to double check that information and will post his reply here.
I'm planing to return my XOOM WiFi tablet back, because I will leave US soon and I don't need device that could be updated only via mail it somewhere and doesn't have Update over the Air.
You could check that info with Motorola support and if somebody will have another information, please share it with me. I really love my XOOM tablet and don't want to return it back, but.....
the phone reps have been giving bad info since the beginning. This isnt true.

I trusty would like to believe in that, but specialist told me that it was published in their database, so it's not his dreams or ideas. I understand it's stupid because Recovery menu has option to apply update and even XOOM WiFi version has special option in Settings Menu to check updates, but I also trust internal information that use Motorola Level 3 Product Support Specialist to solve customers problems.
I hope that soon they will have another information, but right now it's ugly(((
I dont understand how this would ever be the case...
Any android phone even non-activated gets OTA updates over WiFi if they're connected to a google account and a network connection. I don't know why a stock honeycomb tablet would be any different.
We'll see when it comes but I highly doubt this. I never trust a CS rep to tell me how it works.

Yes let's see, I also misunderstand why it, but CS rep told that non-activated tablet and WiFi version tablet should be send back to Motorola Depo. I don't want to create mess, I just trying to find the truth.
Even when it has been decided in the past not to provide the update OTA, those companies have still offered the update for downloading from their website so it can used to update manually through a computer. I see no reason why this would not be the case, at the least. I'm definitely calling BS on this one.
Worse case, the update gets leaked here with instructions and I still don't have to send it back. Would prefer not to have to go that route but whatever.
I have a non-activated 3g model and I got the last update just fine. No manufacturer is going to make a device that every time there is a software or firmware update you have to send in your device.

Call them and check it. I got information the right now only 2 option to update 3G over the air and WiFi and Non-activated via Motorola Depo (((
there's nothing to verify, the guy you talked to just wanted you off the phone so he could get back to getting paid for doing nothing.
no matter what the rep said its impossible that you will have to mail it in. it would be a financial disaster for moto. All updates will be OTA except 4g upgrade.

There seems to be no validity to this claim. The fact of the matter is, if you had to send your device in everytime an update was pushed then you would be sending it in almost every 2 months or so at the expense of Motorola.
Chances are that you got a rep that has no clue what he was talking about. They will find your device, they still have that ability due to the fact that sniffing it out with a unique number should still work. It will update from their servers and your device will boot into recovery just like wiping the device fully does.
Ignore th antics of your rep you spoke with, because even if you HAVE to send it is.... someone will post it online no matter what.
Yea right ... in this world where you can buy gigabyte games online and download them and watch HD movies streamed, Motorola will ask all for the wifi tablet to be returned every time it has a major update. It sounds like it was crafted to give it as much credibility as possible.
The old adage applies:
"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence"
A post on a blog does not "extraordinary evidence" make
That's such a ridiculous idea.

no matter what the rep said its impossible that you will have to mail it in. it would be a financial disaster for moto. All updates will be OTA except 4g upgrade.
source: Level 5 common sense.

I agree this can't be true...and if somehow wifi version isn't upgradeable via OTA(which I find next to impossible. I am sure that they would rather post it on their site rather then have people send it in...
Also is it the device that doesn't support sd cards or honeycomb? because I thought Google pushed all honeycomb updates.
This is not true at all, ALL 3G NON ACTIVATED xooms got the 3.01 update Via wifi meaning all wifi models will get the update just the same.
total BS. A Rep told me that you would get an update when connected. And she also mentioned that she was an alien from outerspace.
man can u imagine if everyone did have to send there xoom in to get it updated? They would have to have a hole frign factory the size of 4 football fields designated just to updating these xooms. Itd have to be easyer just to ota it. I may be exaggerating a lil about the football field but you know what I meen. Sounds like a big fluster cluck to me hard telling when or if you would get it back.
I agree that this idea completely stupid and ridicules. I also try to argue with CS rep, but he stay on his point. That coming update will be like i describe in OP based on the information that he could see in Moto data base.
Again I hope that my CS rep was stupid and wrong.

[Q] Update Questions

So, does anybody know if:
1. The update (Acer_A500_1.139.04_COM_GEN1) actually does anything to improve our Iconia's
2. Is the update for US WiFi Iconias?
From what i read the update in another thread is it will not come to the US but we are receiving the 3.1 update first week of June...How true that is i dont know.
I do hope we get some updates here tho...The transformer has already had multiple updates and so has the xoom. The iconia is a great tablet but like everyother product it does have its issues. I wish we had more support or atleast communication from acer.
See here: REQUEST: Acer_A500_1.139.05_COM_GEN1 - a few posts down.
I don't know which countries "COM" translates to, but EMEA is "Europe, Middle East, Africa", which already covers quite a bit of the blue ball, leaving the Americas, Australia, Asia, etc. So yes, it is a good guess that "COM" covers the US, or you could read through My device just OTA updated looking which countries posters reporting COM-fiirmwares come from.
well i was bored and so i went to acer and talked to their online support chat...
The summary of the conversation was..he said the honeycomb update 3.1 will be released "approximately second week of june" and the 139.02 firmware update said would be in a couple days for the US.
So i guess we'll see...

Thanks for answering and yes, I wish there was more communication. From my own experience, companies that do not talk to their customers are doomed - Acer is not setting a good precedent (I noticed in another thread that some clown in their tech service claims that they do not support 3rd party apps - so why do they include the app market in their buils and why do they allow installation of 3rd party apps).
I trust that they will get their act together otherwise they will just be a footnote on the Android tablet scene.
Did they happen to mention what the firmware update changes? Wifi issues, gps, sleep issue?
I have noticed ever since I downloaded market apps, the sleep issue has shown up.
update from acer support (not really an update)
Akhil Retnan: Hi, my name is Akhil Retnan. How may I help you?
xxxxxxx: Hi, good afternoon.
Akhil Retnan: Good afternoon xxxxxxx.
Akhil Retnan: xxxxxxx, may I know the serial number or SNID of your Acer product?
xxxxxxx: I am at work, Currently do not have my tablet here with me.
xxxxxxx: My question is will the next firmware update fix gps issues, sleep/wake issues, video issues? If so, when is this firmware update suppose to be issued?
Akhil Retnan: I understand that you would like to know whether any firmware update will get released soon for the Acer Iconia A500.
xxxxxxxx: Yes
xxxxxxxx: And what will the firmware update change?
xxxxxxxx: There is a lack of communication from Acer in regards to your updates. Every other tablet on the market that runs honeycomb has updates out already.
Akhil Retnan: xxxxxxx, as of we do not have information about firmware update.
Akhil Retnan: Once a firmware update is released it will be available in the website.
xxxxxxxx: So there is no timeline for updates from Acer?
Akhil Retnan: Unfortunately, we do not have any information about the firmware update available now.

I'm sure he probably meant they don't provide support for 3rd party apps.

Motorola E3 problem.

I have a problem that I'm asking for help and support, as this is a question and answer forum.
I made a post a few days ago that the moderator decided to delete because people questioned the legitimacy of my problem.
Unfortunately, I have now had the same problem a second time.
I ask that someone please give me some advice and support rather than try to say my problem is a fabrication, made up or a lie.
13/01/2017
I received notification from Motorola that a 22mb OTA security update was available.
At the time, my device, a Motorola E3 XT1700 which was running system version S124 android 6.0, was ROOTED with TWRP, and was running various modifications such as Android N-ify and Pixel style nav bars.
I was puzzled I had an OTA update, I assumed being rooted removed that event happening, but I duly downloaded this update but as I had TWRP I could not flash the downloaded update.
I used "flash fire" from Google play to install the Update.
Installation went quite slowly with my device rebooting around 6 times.
I saw a new materialistic style boot animation and my device rebooted into android.
It quickly ran into serious issues with messages of every single Google app force closing, including Google now launcher and Gboard.
I had to skip the initial set up which I noticed was no different to normal.
I managed to get into settings and my build number and kernel versions were all the same as before.
The only difference I saw was my system version had gone from S124 to S131 and the android version was 7.0, but 7.0 is not available for this device.
The device kept force closing and rebooting every 2 minutes.
I had to contact a Motorola representative here in UK and they agreed to collect my device for examination and repair, but warned I would be liable for the cost.
We did argue over this, and eventually two days later, Motorola agreed to pay for the repairs as they said I had suffered "An exploitation" due to being rooted.
My device had been "reflashed" but I would no longer be able to receive any OTA updates.
They also told me there would be no android 7 for this device, but if I wanted to flash a custom ROM when one becomes available, that was up to me.
I also asked if I could flash a back up from an E3 power to my E3 if it went wrong again, they replied I could not because the E3 and E3 power are different devices and the firmware wasn't compatible with each other.
I do not know what any of that means.
Please help me to understand it.
21/01/2017
My device was returned two days ago, but the same thing has happened today.
Another 22mb update, but this time, my system version is going from S131 to S135 and my device has gone from an E3 XT1700 to E3 power XT1706.
The E3 is a European / American version where as the E3 power is exclusive to India and Asia.
The power is not available here in UK.
I have no reason to lie about this, and have provided screenshots from my device.
Please help me understand why this keeps happening?
That's all I want to know, how has my device became something else, a totally different model number?
How can I get another OTA update if Motorola have switched the function off and told me my new reflashed firmware has all the available updates?
Please will you help me understand this rather than accuse me of making things up or not abiding to the spirit of XDA by telling lies?
I have a genuine problem and fault with my device and want answers, not people calling me a liar.
I have already posted this on the Motorola Google plus community, where I explained I'm 16 years old, and when asking for support in my previous post here about this problem, it was deleted by the moderator for questioning its validity.......
I have since found out on Motorola's own forums this is a dodgy update that if installed can cause severe problems.
Many uses are advising not to flash this update.
I sorta already knew that.
Several users on Google plus pointed out to me they use XDA and have seen this problem talked about in the forums.
Someone directed me to Motorola's OWN forum where users are telling others to not download or flash this 22mb update because it breaks things!!!!
Finally, I want to share proof of my problem by showing the forum some photos and screenshots from my device.
For information purposes, let me list the difference between the 2 E3 models.
XT1700-E3 for Europe and continental USA
Single SIM
1GB ram
8 GB internal storage
XT1706-E3 POWER exclusive to India and Asia
Dual SIM dual stand by
2GB ram
16 GB internal storage
Now Look at the photos of my own devices box and packaging.
My device is a Motorola Moto E3 XT1700.
It has one SIM slot.
It has 1gb of ram
It has an 8gb internal storage.
After applying the update in question, in my about phone settings, my device is listed as a Motorola Moto E3 power XT1706.
I now have some blanked out settings for 2simcards that were not there before this happened.
Proof that something very strange has happened, and most of you think I'm lying.
I have several explanations from Motorola now and from users of Google plus as to what and why this has happened, and Motorola have admitted to being at fault in my case.
I'm happy with the reply I got from Steve who works at the repair centre who handled my case last week.
Let's see what explanations you experts come up with.
I know the answer now, this problem was down to three factors, one being human error in the way I applied the update.......But do you know the other 2 reasons?
I just wondered if anyone will enlighten me.

No one here is obligated to help you, despite this being a Q&A section. I'm glad you had a positive response from Moto support. Posting here in a demanding manner is not an acceptable way of asking for help. Again, the name of the site is xda-developers not xda-helpdesk.
Please be respectful at all times in the future and follow forum rules.
