Who is upgrading? - Hero CDMA General

What a fun time I have had with my Hero. This was my first Android phone I had and over the last year and a half I have learned more about Android and Linux than I wanted or thought I would ever know. I even dumped Windows for Linux a year ago.
For those that have been around for a while, there were some exciting times we had.
-Getting 2.1 on our phones before it was released.
There were so many of us up all night waiting for damage to release it.
Finding out we had a new PRI and frantically searching for a fix
-Getting CyanogenMod on our phones
Thanks to darch for this
Before running CM6 and then CM7 I did not like AOSP roms
-Getting 2.3.3 with Sense 2.1
Which I am still running
Some people are still envious of my Hero with this ROM on it and they have
newer phones.
-Fixxer
Need I say more
Most of the early devs moved on to the Evo 4G. We had some that have stuck around and a few more than came on board. With out you, our "outdated from the start" Hero's wouldn't be where they are now.
I'm keeping my Hero, since I can't see only getting $30 for the phone worth it. I'll still be around the forums every once in a while, but even with the recent reviews of the Evo 3D, I will be picking one up on June 24th.
Thanks to all those that have created ROM's, Kernels, theme's and apps and helped me along the way.
Anyways, since I have only seen 1 or 2 threads on people upgrading their phones, I wanted to put one out there for everyone that is upgrading, not just to the Evo 3D, but even those that might be getting an Evo 4G or any other phone.

I'm upgrading! Good times and memories in the Hero Forums. A lot of dbags in the 3D forums, uggghhhh!

I might get Evo 3d, sense 3.0!

im going to end up getting nexus s or something without sense. since , sense is open source now almost all newer phones will probably have a sense rom or two on it. so of i feel the need to i can just put it on myself.

I'm sticking around for a while, but I too would like to take the opportunity to thank all of those in the Hero C forums who have not only advanced my knowledge of this particular phone but the Android operating system in general. A really great group of people here, willing to share what they've learned, so thanks all.

Launch day, 3vo, woot. Thanks for memory lane I didnt really join the party til fall, came from winmo, never gonna go back. Thanks for helping me learn.
And for real, I need an ETA on dual boot windows xp, lmfao.

I'll be right behing you! You have me intrigued with the Windows XP/7 on the phone. I know people say why, but if it did happen, you know how many people would jump on it. This is coming from someone who ditched Windows last year.

Can't wait till 3D day! I know I'm driving my wife nuts but she knew what she was getting into when she married me! LOL

I'm getting an iPhone 4 on AT&T.
Yeah, I just threw up in my mouth a little just saying that... actually, 3vo for me on the 24th.

Count me in. Evo3d asap. Gonna camp out in the store parking lot on the 22nd. My boss was even nice enough to give me that night off. He understands my obsession for tech. Can't wait to wrap my hands around that phone. And with a gig ddr and duals running at 1.2 oh sense should be fun to have. Any one check out the Motorola photon??? Dual cores 1.0 nvida- 1 gig ddr2 mem and 16gigs of ob storage. Man tough call lol

I wanted to wait until the next nexus came out, but after being forced to modify my build.prop file just to get google music, I decided something had to be done. A review of Craigslist, $150, and a little CDMA workshop wizardry, and I got a Droid2 flashed to my carrier. With an 8GB ROM, I don't think I'll need firerats again. It will hold me over until the next nexus comes out.
I'll still follow this thread, mostly because the people here are the best.

Extreme!! Did you mean the 23rd?
Motorola can shove it up their *$$
So can Samsung.
Moto_whatever_the_f_it_is and touch wiz suck.
I like the eye candy of Sense.
7 DAYS AND COUNTING.

I thought it gets released on the 23rd?? And I'm hoping to be the first in line and didn't know you had such bad feelings towards motorola "eek" the only thing that made it tempting was nvida.

Upgrading as well. Gonna make this bad boy a dedicated media device somehow.

Moto blows. Still encrypted boots. Also the photon cores run at the same clock (synchronous) which is in theory bad for batt life. Touchwiz? HTC all the way.

yea anyone who locks a bootloader should be shot ive said it before and ill say it again android is open source for a reason lmao. speaking of witch way of topic but did yall here about virgin mobles latest fiasco they put it in there t/c that rooting is not allowed how freakin lame is that lol.

i as well will be moving on to the 3vo (as duce calls it).. hopefully on launch day, but i will be on vacation and out of town, so i couldnt pre-order or anything.. hopefully where i will be on vacation will have a sprint store and i can just waltz in and pick it up.. we shall see.. as soon as i get there monday i am going to find the store and try to preorder it then..
good to see some good people moving on

il Duce...
Have you heard about Windows 8? It will support ARM processors and system-on-a-chip (SoC).

yea i cant wait for win8 they made it like wp7 and tiled it out

Best Buy is calling me to make an appt to pick up my 3VO. I kinda wanted to get in line early in the morning, join other idiots doing the same thing and maybe get on news LOL. I'm number 13 on the list and my local BB is getting 30. The reservation good throughout the weekend.

EVO 4g Already Rooted...LOL! :)

Yep, looks like some EVO's were given to anyone attending Googles I/O event and its already been rooted. Good news for 99% of people in this forum, I know you are all switching Just thought I would share!
<3 all the dev's out there!
"We're still a good dozen days away from its public release, but the Evo 4G has already been given a rooting makeover. Google dished out Evo handsets to all the lucky (so lucky!) attendees of its blowout I/O 2010 event, and a trio of those visitors rolled up their sleeves and decided to get down and intimate with the phone over the weekend. The product of their labor is at this stage just a few screenshots and a blurry video after the break, but fear not, we're sure details of the hack will be forthcoming promptly."

im not sure that EVERYONE will be going to the EVO ... yes its a nice phone and love the size of the screen , but looks like Sprint is going to use AT&T tacktics.. i am told you will need to pay for 4g service ( per month ) even if you dont want it! another words , you will need to purchase a plan that will allow the EVO to work and that service will cost more money per month ...
as for me i would rather have the NExus One but we shall see what happens ..
I really wish that Sprint didn't release such amazing phones within a year range that are near the same, besides hardware specs...
And on topic now, that's amazing! Hopefully like someone said, that can be used towards our rooting!
Pisses me off that this is coming so soon, I have until early october until I qualify for a $75 credit since that was when our heros were released. Hopefully there will be some equally impressive or better phones coming to sprint by the end of the year?

This was my first thought too... The EVO is running 2.1 correct? it has been rooted, which should open the door for the rooting of the Official version running on the Hero.
I hope the Dev's stick around and support the Hero for a while yet as the phone is awesome, especially with the Newest Rom's.
Happy Trails!
Sheesh WRONG SECTION!...

Thanks for posting this, I seem to forget that there are other sections.
This is good news but this should be moved the the general section tbh.

Its $10 additional to whatever ur paying now... not really a big change in anything... just like when people bought their hero's, it required a certain plan.. its the same thing.. u gotta pay for the 4G service..
(and would people stop wasting your time to post "wrong section".. let a mod see it or figure it out... no need in 20 people sayin the same ****)
Just because the Evo was able to be rooted doesn't mean that it should help with the Hero 2.1 Case in point.....even after the hero was initially rooted, how long did it take for the eris to follow suit even though it was running the same 1.5?
I'm not sure if I really want the EVO or if it's just wanting to be on the cutting edge... it's kinda useless to me where I live because there are 0 plans to bring 4g here anytime soon, but they're bringing it to town 60 miles away. Bad timing in my honest opinion for this phone, because only select markets get to benefit from it's main feature, 4g.

Its the same thing as when the G1 came to T-mobile. It was their first 3g phone, and they had almost no 3g coverage at the time. Sprint has been rolling out 4g for a while. It makes sense in the areas that have it or are slated to have it soon. Plus, the phone itself is amazing on 3g, so really, I don't see why it matters. The 10 dollars sucks if all you get is 3g, but whatever, still cheaper than anyone else, and you do no longer have a 5 GB limit.
Hopefully Sprint in its infinite wisdom doesn't delay the release to update these in a big effin hurry before they're in our hot little hands. Not that there's precedent for that, but ...
I know there were other devs with this ROM waiting to show they had root as well just for that reason. Oh well. crosses fingers!!!
EVO looks bad ass, but it breaks my heart to see that they don't even have any set plans of 4G where I live. Hopefully sprint puts out another snapdragon that can hold me over till 4g spreads a little more, I don't wanna pay 10 extra bucks a month for service I can't utilize.

one more week of development

How is everyone feeling about there being just over 1 week of big development on the Hero? ... ... ... Evo is coming out soon so I expect this board to die down a lot.

Well, I can have it both ways I guess. I've had the Hero since January and I love it. My dad will be getting the EVO next weekend. So I've been explaining to him the benefits of root and what not, and I think I have him convinced to root it. I have to admit that I am jealous, although it will be nice to have some hands on experience when I do root it for him.
I have my Hero rooted with Fresh 2.1.2 and with the Envy theme on it. I might start to learn to theme on my own since there are tutorials out there. It looks easy, but time consuming.
Ultimately, I'm satisfied and I thank the themers and the rom devs out there who made my phone a nice piece of work.
Listen.. Not everyone will be able to upgrade and not everyone here has 500 dollars to shell out for a phone in an economy like this. Progress will slow as far as hero goes but will not stop. come June 4th ill still be here and so will everyone else... Theres a strong reality in the real world and most people who say "ill get the phone" will not get it simply because life doesn't work that way. Theres stipulations and events that happen daily that impede peoples lives and plans.
Stop worrying about development for the hero.

Actually, Toast (arguably our best true code developer) has said he is getting the EVO. That in itself is a big big loss.
i wont be leaving, and i havent developed any roms lmfao ahahahahahahahahaah i will continue to see you guys around here, but i am getting some help from a mentor of mine who is teaching me how to compile my own kernels and i will soon make my own few roms for my hero, mwuahahahahaha(evil laugh)
I *was* going to get the Evo and actually considered purchasing it outright or adding a second line to my account to get it, but not sure if I can handle an additional $80/mo bill on top of my current load which is horrendous already.

Additional &80???
How's that? Do you have just one line right now?
I am pretty sure I am holding off on the EVO. Not that the specs don't give me a hard on, but ----- I really want a tegra or dual core snap dragon even more than I want this.
And I don't have 4g any my area, and it took years to even get 3G here...I can only imagine the roll out will be just the same. I really can't belive there are still parts of the U.S. that are dead-zones...let alone not having 3G.
I was absolutely pumped on the EVO and am eligible for an upgrade. However, after some recent disappointments with Sprint's service/customer service, I will be sticking with my Hero. I don't plan on ditching Sprint (yet) but I also have no desire to extend my contract with them, which is the whole reason they come out with the newest and fastest so quickly.
So, I've decided I'm not taking the bait. In a few months, I will be a contract free Hero owner and plan to enjoy the peace of mind of knowing I can tell Sprint to go **** themselves whenever I please.

March Upgrade...Evo or Not?

So I have my 1 year upgrade on March 1st, I bought a Optimus S to use so I could hang on to my upgrade, but with no good announcement on Feb 7th I think I will go ahead and get me a Evo. If a new dual core phone comes out in the summer by the time I upgrade again (premier gold, 10 years) that dual core will have some good development going on, like the Evo now. I have heard quite a few things about the launch Evo and another Evo they made, diff hardware or something. Some kernels work, some dont, a bit confusing. Can someone please give a quick break down of what a Evo purchased today can do development wise, kernels/clock speeds, roms, wimax hacks, cm7, all the good stuff! If todays Evo is highly limited maybe holding on to that upgrade would be the better choice. I dont care for the Evo Shift, looks odd to me. To much space on the bottom of the phone. I played with a Epic yesterday, nice screen, but phone felt "cheap".
Thanks

I think one could probably get a pretty clear indication of the what the EVO is capable of by reading just a little bit, so I am not going to recap BUT I will say this. I have always been one to anxiously await the latest and greatest phone until I purchased my Lauch Day EVO. It really is quite good.
If I were you, with a March 1 upgrade, I would wait a few weeks until CTIA to see what gets announced and then make my decision. At least you might have a clearer understanding of what might be coming around the corner.
I already have an upgrade that I am sitting on. Nothing out there that trips my trigger......yet.

As my friend said, "If you always wait until the latest and greatest comes out, you'll always be waiting. If you get upset that something new comes out just after you bought the latest and greatest, you'll always be upset. Just pick [a phone or computer] you're happy with and go with it."
I bought the Evo because I loved my Hero. I simply wanted a faster processor, larger screen and the kickstand. The Evo was perfect for me and I couldn't be happier. It does everything I wanted it to do and more. It's my phone, computer, clock, calendar, contact list, e-book reader, music player and so on. Tinkering with it is a blast too!
I would hold on a little bit more sprint has to dropping a flagship phone soon

I generally agree..... BUT CTIA is literally just a few weeks away. That is when they are expected to make significant announcements.
Of course, I have been salivating over the Echo....not.
Its easy to say hold off while you already have the best phone sprint has out (right now). What attracts me to the Evo right now is the development, it is already there. If I wait and get a new "insert name" I will be at stock until root comes, then be waiting for some kernels/roms. Even if a dual core hit the scene today wont fragmentation be a problem, apps wont even really use that second processor, or would android handle the CPU's? I had a Hero up until 2 months ago when I bought the Optimus S, the S is a good phone, its faster than the Hero and all though I like the Hero's screen better. The S will replacing my wifes Hero, its seen its better days, lol. I put aosp's 2.3 on it, makes me crave CM7 so being "stuck" with a Evo for a year until my next upgrade would not be a bad thing. By then what ever super charged dual core HTC phone becomes the new flagship for sprint ought to be rooted with awesome development already!
Thanks for the replies
Or you could take the route my girlfriend and I have gone towards: When one phone is ready to upgrade, I get it... she gets my old phone.

Yeah, that's my thought process right now. My wife loves everything about her old iPhone 3G . . . except for the part about it being a really lousy phone, lol.
I'm waiting to see when Sprint drops a new (hopefully dual core?) flagship and pick that one up for me and pass this Evo on to her. Going forward, then, we'd both be on Sprint and could play the leapfrog game, too.

I can see you thought it all out... and it makes sense.
I agree... although there are 2 things...
1. 3 months is enough of a lag for me to wait.. to see if the phone will be adopted by devs. This is nearly 9 months. Still a great phone though.
2. htc is announcing big in 3 days... wait till then to re-evaluate.

Why would HTC announce a CMDA device for Sprint at the GSM Association mobile conference?
all i see on there facebook page.. is a count down clock... nothing about gsm
Counting down until the Evo gets Gingerbread officially? (although since I switched to AOSP Gingerbread it isn't as much of an issue as it once was...)
I decided to get the Evo, unless something bad ass will be released within a couple months. I see adds on ebay that have the phone for as low as $100. Has anyone ever used one of the ebay adds/auctions? Sprint always wants big $, heck the Hero is still $250 with a $100 rebate. That's another thing, with the ebay auctions I think they are cheap because the rebates are instant. Any input?
Thanks

yep CM7 GX4 and love every min of it. EVO is still the way to go if I had an upgrade available now I would get another EVO!
id wait a few more months and see what sprint may offer by june. the optimus S is a decent phone compared to the hero. not saying the evo isn't a worthy upgrade but it is going on a year old soon. i wouldn't use my upgrade on it when you can pick one up on craigslist for $250 now.
If you do decide to get the Evo, grab a white one because, initially, white ones were a Best-Buy exclusive. They were only offered in Sprint stores recently. If you pick up a white one from a Sprint store, it'll probably be an 0004 (latest hardware revision, no defects). Also, the white one just feels nicer because it's glossy instead of rubbery matte, so it doesn't show smudges or anything.
This is from experience. I went through 2 defective replacements until they agreed to give me a brand new one after some haggling. I purposely asked for a white one because I knew.

One Last Stand

This is my first thread as an OP, and ironically probably my last in the HeroC forums.. I converted over to the 3vo yesterday (and yes the rumors are true, it is amazing), so this is somewhat of a farewell thread but also one last testament to how awesome this little hero is..
i was on vacation last week with my wife's family in the mountains of Tennessee, we get a cabin there every year.. but everybody in the family has a smart phones, there are 2 brand new windows phones on AT&T and the rest are sprint, 2 evos a nexus s, and a random asortment of other phones.. but they all have looked at the hero with disdain, because most had the hero stock (which we all know sucked balls), and only 2 of them actually let me root it, but wouldnt let me optimize it at all.. but they all looked at my little hero like it was a piece of trash, because they had all moved on to "better" phones.. but on to the point, up in this mountain there was hardly a cell signal, the AT&T phones had zero signal, and the others were hit and miss.. but, my hero had signal the whole time.. not only did it have signal, but i wireless tethered to the laptops so we could get on the internet.. so while their condescending "awesome" phones sat lifeless on their night stands, my hero reigned supreme and gave life to their devices..
i know that didnt really have a lot to do with anything, but thought i would throw it out there, this phone despite being left to die by sprint and HTC, continues to conquer where other phones fail.. my hero shall sit in a glass case as it watches over its android kingdom..
and many thanks to all of the people that have helped me around here, and hopefully i have returned the favor at some point.. i will still be floating around here especially until the 3vo forums settle down a bit.. but raise a glass to our hero, heres to the greatest of the phones that was never meant to be great..
Cheers!

Well said!!!....Not only did my Hero serve me well for 16 months in the face of all those who scoffed. It's now been put into service teaching my 11 year old the ways of Android.
It's amazing how many people revere their Heros. It's just like your first love. I went through the Palm Pilot thing, and this really reminds me of that. People posted about upgrading, but talked about the respect and admiration they had for their first device.
Good luck to you in 3vo land, sounds like that community is really getting going.

I've been browsing these boards tonight as I have been rooting and flashing my sister's Hero. This phone and its community is a spitting image of the Eris I had. I really am glad to see a diamond in the rough across all carriers to spread the Android love. Sorry to stray off topic, but I know all about having a great community driven phone, and I will never forget my Eris.

I enjoyd mine. I rooted almost immediately when I got it last year and learned the Android trades of hack and mod. It was a great introduction to Android OS and a solid little phone. Now that I have the 3VO, I somewhat miss it for things like the jogball, root, custom ROMs. I sold it to a coworker so I still have visitation, lol.

my wife and i both had heros and she moved on to an evo a while back, and wanted nothing to do with her hero, so i traded it in, and kept mine so it can have a nice retirement.. if i get bored with the 3d or aosp posts something amazing, i will take him down and give him a fresh flash to keep him up to date.. it is most deff one of the best devices to learn stuff on, there wasnt anything that i couldnt do to that phone.. times that i swore it was bricked and then 15 minutes later he was pumping again.. :tear:
I've had mine for about a year, and I plan to have him for maybe another year... or maybe more, depends I really love this little thing.

Nicely put man... Cheers to our little phone that was Never Meant/Suppose to be Great!!

New User of the HTC Droid Incredible? Enter here to introduce yourself!

Hi guys, I started this thread with the intent that the new users of our forum could first stop in and introduce their selves. They are the new blood around here and may very well have something useful to share with us! Use this thread as you see fit as long as you keep it clean and follow all the XDA rules
Enjoy!!!
Here I'll start us off:
Hi my name is Josh. I'm 27, married to the best woman in the world. We have a beautiful 5yo daughter who is now in school. I have one dog, one wolf mix, a cat, a hamster and a tank full of minnows(my daughter said we are not allowed to use them as bait, lol) I am U.S. Army Medically Retired. I was a 91B(mechanic)(originally a 63W for you old heads) in the Army until I hurt my back. I've been to Iraq twice, Egypt once, and did maint support operations on the Port of Beaumont, Texas and the Port of Olympia in Washington. I was there while the riots where going on. I did enjoy serving my country and am very proud to have been given this special opportunity. Now that I am out of the mil I can focus more on my family, living life and of course my geeky addiction.
Its been a fun road to now. I started out with my first Android phone the HTC Droid Eris. I enjoyed the works of many great devs and learned so much while using there Rom's. workshed, Tazzpatriot, condemned soul, conap, gnarlic man the list goes on... These guys are really who got me interested in developing and everything else. With there help a did a little theming for the Eris. It was mostly just minor stuff for Cm. As time past I eventually moved on to the HTC Droid Incredible. I've been here since March. I started out again doing some theming then I moved up to my DTR's (BUNKER BUSTER DTR and yes since I'm retired U.S Army thats why it is named something militaryish). Its a fun little project and its also my way of sticking it to the man, lol. Now most of my focus goes to my Roms. I have Pure Speed which is my first and my baby. I'm so proud of that rom. I also have Hybrid Speed, Sub Sonic and my latest my first ever 3.0 rom Pure Shooter.
All in all this Inc community has taught me so much and showed me a whole new world I never knew existed. We have good support, good people and great devs here. My time spent here is now just keeping my work updated and trying to help out as much as I can.
Anyways, enough with me blabbering on... Lets hear about you!
You know the phone is awesome when the introduce yourself thread is created a year and a half after release.

Well its just that here recently we've had a mass of new users show for whatever reason so guess now is better than never.
Seriously, I got mine in march of this year with phones surrounding the dinc that supposedly had better tech and have not looked back since. When my contract is up in two years, there will be some serious advancements in phone tech.

Yea that's me too. I got mine in March as well so I'm still in for the long haul. Just trying to help mold our forums into something fun and enjoyable for all of us alike.
Well i actually just recently got my incredible last month because i smashed my iphone 4(walls and apples don't mix). In the last 2 months I've done more on my phone than development wise than ever thought possible now I'm hooked.

Hi Don me too, lol. BTW what are you doing in here old timer? Just kidding.
New Guy
Retired Navy with 30 years in Subs. (Missile Technician)
I used this forum to root the other day.
This site seems to be used as a reference for others so I went to the source.
I rooted to the CM7 and the new radio that came out with gingerbread.
After going through the rooting process I am ready not to go through the setup again. TB kept force closing after each app install(took a long time) I'll wait for awhile and let the guru's play with the new GB and see what develops.
I am Ryan, been here since day 1. The root process was crazy involved then... Memories! But I got it, after three days of trying after work! I try to help here from my experiences I've had with my Inc. I've rooted my girl's Desire, my Xoom, and this week my buddy's Inc is getting the business!
I've done some minor tweaking of existing code, but haven't done any ROM creating/modding. I've made themes for myself, so I understand how to replace/edit/create draw 9 PNG's and replacing other files in APKs. I've become pretty good with GIMP, but have never created images from scratch.
Other than that, I'm a smart ass, like to golf, and am currently moving in with my girl. I've met really cool people in these forums, who I continue to talk with via Twitter or Gtalk.
Looking forward to helping anyone out, and meeting new/existing DInc owners.

This sounds like an android support group ha
anyway..
Hi!
My name is Paul I've had my phone since November of last year, but only later decided I wanted to try this rooting shenanigans in January. I was again slow to switch from sense over to AOSP, but now since I've done all that I really love my phone and even now I just figured out there's a whole mess more you can do with widgetlocker and other theming apps.

I've recently found a really cool site for android theming:
http://mycolorscreen.com/category/android/
Some of the stuff on there I had no idea you could even do, it's amazing.
I think there'll probably be more user who've had their Dinc for a while rather than newer users BUT ANYWAYS.... Well my name's Antonio and I'm 17. I'm hoping to go to either Princeton or Boston University and become an Anesthesiologist. The Dinc is my first smartphone and I got it in September 2010, but didn't root until sometime around December. I had no idea what root was, I found out more about it when Gingerbread first came out and builds started coming out for the Dinc. I began to do some research and I found Xda, but I didn't become a member until March of this year. I have since then become a flashaholic and the longest continous time I've had a ROM has been Pure Shooter for two weeks so far.... Do we get a gold star for this? Lol

Well I'm not new, but I figured I'd chime in a bit!
Hi all! I'm Bob and I'm a college student with a major in Computer Science and minor in Information Systems. The HTC Incredible is my first smartphone, and since I got it on launch week, I've been hooked! I was pretty active on Android Forums, helping people out and whatnot but I finally decided to make XDA my permanent home.
I've recently begun developing apps for Android just as a fun side project. I have not made a ROM yet, but I have been heavily debating it. I think I'll give it a try when the real Gingerbread OTA comes out, but we'll see since I'll be busy with school starting back up AND work in a few days...
I try to help people out because this is a community. I try to give feedback as much as possible and like to point people in the right direction if ever needed. I am a bit of a ROM flashing addict and even the ROMs that I don't try, I at least read about and get familiarized with! The Inc community is seriously awesome, and we've only gotten better as a whole. Thanks to the devs and to all the members for making my hobby even more enjoyable!
cool idea; you know, i've always wondered about a lot of us here..we always talk phones and whatnot, but we dunno anything about eachother lol
well i'm jay (clearly lol) and i'm from the shore of NJ, born and raised (not to be affiliated with that dirtbag trash on that bull**** TV show, sigh.) i'm 24, i've got my bachelors from rutgers university and my masters from monmouth..unfortunately, since our wonderful government is utter **** right now, the fact that my degrees deal with getting a job in the state/federal government realm isn't helping whatsoever, as I can't land a gov job for the life of me...so i currently work for a small family-owned Verizon store that sells vzw phones, accessories and FiOS. besides that, i'm a musician of 11 years (bass, guitar, drums) and i play bass in a band.
as for my wonderful android journey, it only began in may of 2010 when my buddy sold me his htc eris for 20 bucks when he got his dinc on release day in the mail in april. he told me it'd be fine for me since it was my first smartphone, but he was sick of it already (had it for like 4 months lol) and that it was super laggy to him, so he got the dinc. well, the eris lasted me barely 3 months..even after rooting it and upping my processor speed with setcpu, the thing was still super laggy and the typing lag was atrocious..
so i was one of the people who ordered the Dinc during the Great Amoled Shortage of '10 hahah...ordered it early July, and got it on July 29th...kept it stock for a while, thought the phone was AMAZXING bc there was no typing lag etc...and then that damn Froyo OTA hit, and my phone just started crapping out. typing lag was about as bad as it was on the eris after that OTA, and i almost threw this phone so many times. so finally, in january of '11 i rooted...put on lou's redemptive revolution, still had keyboard lag, and was just super angry.
then i saw Z roms come about, and my lag was finally gone, and i've been playing with new roms ever since. so yeah, safe to say i've easily had this phone for a year and have no intentions on upgrading anytime soon! haha
whoa, that was a book! but whatever. i love my inc, and after just installing synergy again and the Warm theme for the first time, it's bringing me back to my early days of rooting when my first Z rom was warm z two.point.two!! ahh nostalgia.
I'm somewhat new here, due to my recent activity. But I recently got hold of an Incredible after my Droid A855 had growing digitizer issues. I haven't looked back because I really grew to like the device because it's extremely light (sometimes a little too light for comfort), and it's been smooth as melted butter. I'm currently running gingerbread inc deck 1.2b beta on my rooted Incredible. For what I consider(ed) a stop gap device, I'll be hard pressed to find a 4G phone I'll like enough to use my upgrade from VZW..
Another march guy. My name is cameron. I'm 17, currently jobless, have way too much on my plate for a 17 year old, and have the best girlfriend and family I could ask for.
The job field I want to get into its automotive. I've been tearing apart 350 small blocks, 429 big blocks, honda engines, and everything in between since I could walk.
I'm an admitted crackflasher (flashed every rom in the dev section at least once) I was introduced to android when I got a motorola defy for christmas (it blew)
One day I eventually wanna have a family of my own with this girl right here.
