My Xperia play won't start - Xperia Play General

Hello,
I've rooted my xperia play a few weeks ago, no problem.
But this morning a system update poped up, and I started it, and my xperia play went off, en doesn't start anymore
I've tried flasher, it works, till it has been flashed, and I have to disconnect my xperia play with the computer, hold the on button and plug it again in, it doesn't start.
Can anyone help me please?

Sounds like you might have to flash a new firmware. I am by no means an expert with the play but check the dev section for flashing a new image.
Or, call your carrier and let them know that their update bricked your phone.

I had my xperia play rooted, and I had app planet on my phone,
Doesn't have that any consequence?

Have you unlocked your bootloader when rooting?
Regards Dousan...

Yeah, I think so, is that a problem?

This might sound insulting and is not directed at you in any derogatory manner.
Is the battery charged?

Well I take you haven't unlocked your bootloader cause that would be a procedure you would remember doing.
If you used gingerbreak to root your bootloader is not unlocked.
You would have needed your imei no. and an unlock key from SE and fastboot commands to unlock your bootloader and flash a rooted FW

I had needed those think you said, imei no. unlock key etc.
So I think I have unlocked my bootloader
But when I want to update my xperia play from the pc, it says:"The phone contains modified software that cannot be updated."
Is there any possible way that I could unbrick my xperia play, ore should I just return it to the shop I bought it?

So you did a **** load of searching to find out how to unlock your bootloader & root but completely skipped the many threads stating that UPDATING WITH AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER WILL BRICK YOUR XPERIA PLAY?!
Epic fail.

I see, afaik there's no fix that totally unbricks it. You can make it boot again but it will brake the radio. So no phone functions, calls, sms and such will not work.
You could read through this thread there's some help to get here and I think one or two gas restored there phone completely with this thread.

you can rescue your play at the expence of your radio using this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056094, as it stands we have no radio.img's to flash so i dont know how long it will be before you can restore it totally

If I take it back, what must I say to the company?

Just say the battery died & it won't turn back on.
A word of warning though, one poster on here took his back which was sent for repair & returned with a note saying that they were unable to repair it.

He means that one guy got it back non repaired, most people just gets a replacement and he had modified FW on his phone and did as you did, updated after unlocking bootloader and flashing rooted FW.
I wouldn't worry, just tell them what deadlydazza said or that it died under an update, wich is what happened. Just leave out anything about rooting and unlocked bootloader, cause it did void your warranty.

Successfuly Telcel Carrier Arc SIM/Bootloader unlocked and FASTBOOT enabled by SETool

Well as simple as that.
I have an Arc with Telcel Mexico, which is factory locked and all this stuff.
Now after unlock sim with SETool i get unlocked bootloader and fastboot enabled.
SETool is a paid software so I can recommend to find some person who have this tool and asking for unlocking SIM by Testpoint
Cheers

As Flo95 says, if you buy the phone on factory store unlocked for any carrier yes, it will be able to start oin fastboot mode, and this way you will be able to unlock the bootloader by official way.
If the phone its not factory unlocked, I mean locked or unlocked by IMEI code, then only way to unlock the bootloader is SETool by testpoint.
lock it a great news but .....
hello.
i have a orange branded arc.
i purchase it in used not box pack.
when i purchase it, its sim unlock already i don't know from which method it done
but it is not connecting in fast boot.
then how can i unlock my boot loader, because sim are unlock already but not from SEtools.
and what we need to do with setools please tell us it step by step
With powered off arc, press menu key and connect to pc with usb cable, if the led is blue you can unlock by official way.
If not, it just is unlocked for network by imei code.

That is the reason: unlocking the boatloader wipes the DRM certificates from the phone and disables that functionality.

From what i know, once you unlock your bootloader, You loose the DRM certificates for life. Even if you relock they can't be recovered. Maybe you have come across a glitch lucky sod

Root and bootloader unlock discussions

Because "Whilst a minor amount of off-topic posting may be overlooked, the general rule is that your posts / threads must be relevant to the Forum / thread in which you are posting. ", I feel this needs it's own thread instead of this one oem-unlock-bootloader-preserving-drm, which was originally discussing DRM warranty.
I want to discuss if it is possible and how it would be done. It is not yet listed on Sony's webpage with phone and other devices which support unlock bootloader. I will try to root and unlock bootloader this weekend, I will try using the same method as for z3c.
i'm on a weekend trip and will try to root my z5c on sunday evening or monday. a smartphone without adaway, titanium backup etc. is crap.
feedback about your success would be nice.

I don't know if you can do this in Xperias. But in Nexus devices you can boot (without flash) a recovery.
For instance:
fastboot boot Clockworkmod.img
However, I would just wait for an official custom recovery for the Z5C.

As an FYI
Sony now lists the Z5 (not compact, but should apply the same way) on their unlocking site:
"To be able to unlock your Xperia Z5, prepare it by following these steps:
1.Go into Settings > About phone and tap seven times on Build number to enable developer options.
2.From Settings, go into Developer options and enable OEM unlocking"
So it looks like this is all that´s required, no more code requesting process like on previous devices. However, nothing specific mentioned on the DRM aspect.. I have checked the option, still had "myXperia" enabled and all was good. Also, have not seen a difference in Camera quality, but would not bet on it...
but did you root your z5c?

I just followed the guide for z3c, it accepted my IMEI. But as already stated, you can now unlock OEM for all z5 models. Here is the link: http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/. Yep, use them. Also highlight the lines where it's written, hope someone will do deeper research of all that stuff. Also I will add boot folder with all that files

So, I have uploaded the whole folder with this files to my Drive. For everyone who flashed the new version via Flashtool, don't flash any OTAs from Sony cause as @moonbutt74 have described in OP, there is some valuable changes. And yeah, they will still popping-up even if you have the newest version on board.
I don't quite understand what this means actually. I installed via flashtool, then kernel also via flashtool, then TWRP and everything seems fine so far. Anything I shouldn't or can't do now? And should others not update or what? What's going on?

What exactly are the consequences when updating with ota?
What can't I do with an encrypted bootloader?

I can't see a specific reply to this question by fayer3.
Can anyone spell out the consequences and rollback options for anyone flashing the OTA?
Is this likely to affect ALL future versions from Sony? In that case we should find ways to turn off OTA updates, to minimize the risk.

So what is your type?
What did your step ? Flashing new firmware via fastboot or OTA
If you did flashing via fastboot, I'm worried your MTX is XT1585, so you have to unlock bootloader.
My device a xt1580 EU
Flash via OTA (file 59MB)
And bootloader is unlocked.

I could be wrong you can check by entering into fastboot mode Iff it says device unlocked status 3 or some some thing like that then it is unlocked otherwise their is some other problem. I will leave a link for how you can boot into fastboot.

It says my device is locked so i don't know why i can't update...
I think you may have to leave it and just wait for the official nougat update which is arriving quite soon for our phones. Hopefully you will be able to install that one. Iff not you can consider manually flashing it through fastboot.

You can disable the update notification until nougat arrives but then you will have to re enable the notification to get the new update.

It should be released anytime soon I think the people with droid turbo 2 maybe already have it. I will have to wait until the firmware is released on xda to manually flash it because I am rooted but you should get it soon as it becomes available.
