COMPARISON : -
1. DISPLAY:- Both LG Optimus 2X and Samsung GALAXY S II have the Gorilla Glass Edge-to-Edge display.
But Samsung Galaxy S II outshines the LG Optimus 2X, with its Awesome Super AMOLED display which is 0.3 inches larger than it's counterpart.
2. CPU:- LG Optimus 2X has the power of the NVIDIA Tegra 2 with its dedicated Video and Image Decoder, it easily the winner against the ARM Cortex A9 when it comes to Video Quality.
But the A9 packs a little more power with its 1.2Ghz clock speed, which is slight higher to NVIDIA Tegra 2's 1Ghz.
3. CAMERA:- Both share the 8MP Rear Camera but Reviews indicate Samsung has better Quality, whereas the for the Front Cam Samsung Galaxy S II has 2MP in comparison to Optimus 2X's 1.3MP
4. OS:- Samsung Galaxy S II comes loaded up with 2.3 Gingerbread, but for LG Optimus 2X one need to update it manually.
5. BATTERY:- When it comes to battery the AMOLED Display has no comparison with its Awesome Battery Life, Samsung Galaxy S II shows almost twice the Battery Life of LG Optimus 2X
6. FEATURES:- In features LG Optimus 2X has only one benefit, its HDMI output which is absent in the Samsung Galaxy S II.
If you can exclude the HDMI then Samsung Galaxy S II has no comparison with its TouchWiz. v4.0 and its Swype input features.
CONCLUSION :-
Until unless one is obsessed with LG.
SAMSUNG GALAXY S II is the One Of Kind Smart Phone to own.

what? The Galaxy S2 has HDMI output also, it just comes out of the micro USB port instead of having a separate hole.

edit: Yeah it's called MHL, it's actually a lot better than just having an HDMI port.

Is that true? From what I have been reading on this forum that is not certainly true...

SGS2 is unparalleled, BUT Samsung should've stuck with 4 inch display.

Okay OP first of all.
The Tegra 2 is a "SoC chip" it has the same ARM Cortex A9 CPU.
It's the GPU thats different the ULP GeForce (GeForce GPU 333 MHz(T20)/300 MHz(AP20H) vs ARM Mali-400 MP
Wikipedia quoute :
"The Exynos 4210, unlike Tegra 2, features support for ARM's SIMD engine (Media Processing Engine, a.k.a NEON instructions) and this may have a significant performance advantage in some cases over Tegra 2 in critical performance situations such as accelerated decoding for multiple multimedia codecs and formats (e.g., On2's VP6/7/8 or Real formats)."
So in terms of processing power when it comes to video the Exynos SoC wins. When it comes to Tegra games we have yet to see an "emulator" of some sort to enable the playing og Tegra games on the Exynos Galaxy but if benchmarks are to be trusted the Exynos chipset lags behind just a few fps 1~5 behind the Nvidia Geforce ULP
More about it here

As for the Camera the Galaxy S2 can shoot video in 1080p @ 30 fps comapred to the LG O2X's 24 fps. And the actually camera on the device seems to be better on the samsung.

Actually, the SGS2 has been able to play Tegra games for a while now.
Using Chainfire3D from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087427, and installing the Nvidia plugins, you can play any TegraHD game such as Samurai II: Vengeance etc. Performance is top-notch as well.

Thats personal preference, I personal think 4.3 inch is the optimal size.

Seems like the OP posted some obvious information to direct more traffic to his website that doesn't seem to even work...
Anyway, GSMArena did a much better article comparing the two: http://www.gsmarena.com/galaxy_s_ii_vs_galaxy_s_plus_vs_optimus_2x-review-602.php

Anyone know the name of the clock & weather widget on the LG?

Actually it can't do EVERY game and with most there are problems since it is emulating. Textures (RAW), lower quality textures, Pop-in, Force Closes/Crashes, Strange Colors, Slow Performance, or just not working. On top of that you have to illegally download the games since they won't show up in the market.

You can enable the market by using NVIDIA plugin to get all Tegra games to show up & they are purchasable.

i have an uber pc if i want to play games. On a cell phone...tetris is just fine or a standard genesis emulator, while on the crapper.

The G2X (the O2X U.S. variant) is the only phone I've owned that I can truly say I hated. The LCD screen bled, it randomly froze, it rebooted itself mid-call, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth profiles disappeared and reappeared randomly, and it used 3/4G data when connected to Wi-Fi. I could go on but you get the idea. Other than having HDMI out, 1080P video, and a dual-core processor it's a last-generation phone. I wouldn't own an LG phone again if it were free and came with free calling and data service.

Poor comparison. So many mistakes and errors in it, typical of someone who has not used both Tegra2 and Exynos equipped devices.
Tegra2 has a dedicated video and image decder being a plus? It can't even process 1080p video, which the Exynos can.
And then the SGSII battery life, no way will you be able to attain that sort of life. Someone at Samsung fudged the battery life numbers as the battery will last only under 8 hours of constant phone calls!

Apart from the metal Google thing the Optimus has on it's back...is there even a comparison to be made??

Yeah, there is. Check out these benchmarks:
http://tweakers.net/reviews/2147/5/shootout-dualcore-smartphones-tegenover-elkaar-benchmarks-i.html
It has nice statistics where LG sometimes even wins, but overall the SGS2 wins.

Though, something is really wrong on the LG2x as tegra2 should easily do atleast 720p smoothly. Probably, a GB update might help.

Quite a difference in the 1080p youtube tests and I agree with another poster the OP's comments have a lot of holes and misinformation.

Well i don't understand half of the errors showd up to 2X. I had one and it played 1080p youtube videos flawless... and if you look for it i'm not alone.

SGS2 wins.

[Q] 75 FPS score?

I've been watching the preview video @ AndroidCentral I think they have covered the phone quite well.
There Neocore test show a score of 75 FPS - that 20 FPS more than the Samsung SGS/Vibrant.
Since the Samsung SGS/Vibrant comes with a PowerVR SGX 540 chipset (Device Magazine) which is the best out there along with 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor - whereas the Droid Pro comes with a PowerVR SGX 530 chipset (Motorola Developer site) how comes this baby is giving out a much better FPS rate?
Would like to hear your experienced views on this!
If you compare it the D2/D2G, DX, and Milestone 2 you will notice that the DP performance is better that those devices despite the same cpu/gpu combo(but less internal memory). So, from what I am reading most of it has to do with the lower HVGA screen vs the VGA screen of all aforementioned devices. Lower screen res means less work for the gpu.

This makes so much sense for improving battery life and plus what's the point on using such high res screens whereas the human eye can perceive only 200dpi.
Just a thought!
Personally I agree. It really makes me mad that I saw all these rave reviews on the Samsung Galaxy S phone's screens, but me personally I can't tell a difference between my Fascinate and my DPro, other than the fact the screen is smaller.
Maybe its time for me to see the eye doctor.

Samsung Galaxy S2 vs HTC Sensation

HTC Sensation or Galaxy S2?
Torn between these dual core beasts.
Just a very small overview:
HTC:
Screen
Battery
Internal storage (1GB lol)
VGA Front Cam
RAM
Weight. 148 gr. Holy Moly. We should send the phone to fat ca...errr weight management retreat lol
screen resolution: qHD
HTC Sense
Galaxy:
All things HTC has red are better
The thing HTC has green
Easy decision for me.
I think Galaxy S2 is better.... at least in Korea.rep

sensation is running gingerbread..
@OP, C'mon there are tons of threads to talk about this comparison use the damn search button !!
Sense vs TouchWiz if a slapped on interface matters, sense is lovely! Hardware wise SG2 wins.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
both are good phones and you cant go wrong with any. however. i believe the GS2 is better specd hardware. better GPU. better screen in terms of colors. there is no even lag in scrolling at the browser.
the only advantage you will have with the HTC if you call it an advantage is the HTC S 3.0 and i wouldnt call it an advantage.
besides. and the most important factor you need to consider. the HTC now is using a Locked bootloader. meaning you wont get custom roms for sure. and considering how the incredible S is been locked for 3 months now without any luck to open it. i would say avoid HTC phones for now
i will not even buy the HTC for 100$. locked bootloader = useless phone for me.
i learned that the hard way from the atrix. and never again.
Having a lower weight does not necessarily mean 'better'. I think build quality in terms of materials (partial reason of the higher weight) is another plus for the Sensation. On the other hand, I prefer the dimensions and shape of the S2.
Furthermore the Sensation's camera has an instant capture feature but the S2 cam has a pretty fast capture too.
Looking at all the + and - I think the S2 is the overall winner.

I wouldn't want to put CM7 on that as the browser would loose any GPU acceleration and be as crappy as other dual core phone, I'll take it as it is with all the optimization from samsung included for performance and battery life

We don't know that yet, so far the benchmarks indicate that the Adreno 220 GPU inside is quicker than the Mali-400 in the Samsung, I still find it hard to believe considering the mali-400 is quad core, so maybe the benchmark is not up to date with quad-core graphics processor's.

what ???? isnt adreno 220 GPU is the same was used in Desire HD and Xperia Play ?
if so, thats more reason to avoid the Sensation. because that GPU is lower than the Nexus S GPU. let alone come close to SG2. that thing will do marathon around the Adreno 220 and that is based both trying to run Nintendo 64 Emulator at the same time same game.

Is this thread still going on, frankly there is no competition with the SGS2, here's a brief summary:
The Galaxy S2 is out May 1st (phones4u will release on 27 Apr), it will be the king of superphones for a while yet: Most powerfull 1.2 Dual core CPU/GPU combo (yes much better than HTC Sensation), Thinnest phone in the world (8.49mm compared to the Sony Arc 8.7mm and Iphone 4 (around 9.2mm i believe), Best screen tech in the world (exclusive to Samsung - Super Amoled Plus) see below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016334
MHL which is micro USB/HDMI in one, and lets you control the phone through a remote of a MHL enabled tv, Wifi direct - access your phone through wifi and any browser, the list is extensive, check out the comparison to its nearest competitor that was anounced recently(the HTC Sensation):

You cannot compare the number of cores on a GPU unless it is the same architecture, it doesn't make sense at all.
A single core GPU can easily be ten times faster than quad core GPU. It is just how they choose to arrange the GPU-architecture in order to have versions with different speeds.
In fact, even a 300$ gaming card for PC's is single core.

Considering the rumored increase in screen size to 5.5" and keeping the same form factor, the only way to achive that is to go for a 16:9 aspect ratio, compared to the current 16:10 screen. With that comes the "downgrade" from 800 pixels to 720 pixels.
The physical width of the screen will thus probably stay the same, maybe a bit wider, but the height will get a nice boost.
Hm, calculating the width and height, something doesn't seem right.
5.3" Note (16:10)
Screen area: 12.62"
Height: 4.49" (11.42 cm)
Width: 2.81" (7.13 cm)
Rumored 5.5" Note 2 (16:9)
Screen area: 12.92
Height: 4.8" (12.18 cm) (a bit taller)
Width: 2.69" (6.84 cm) (SLIMMER!)
If they go with a 16:9 screen and if they decide to keep the form factor the same, they could go for a screen display of at least 5.7" and still keep the casing the same.
If they however stick with a 5.5" screen size, 16:9 ratio and a reduced bazel, the note will get a almost 0.5cm slimmer
Well that settles it. I was hoping the Note II would have A15 architecture but instead it's just a larger SIII. I will wait til the Note III. I don't see the Exynos 4412 as worthy of upgrading to.

It's unfortunate. I'm sure responsiveness will be a big increase as the quad core chip set will be better able to pump out all these pixels and the GPU will be an upgrade, too. But still..

5.3" Note (16:10)
Screen area: 12.62"
Height: 4.49" (11.42 cm)
Width: 2.81" (7.13 cm)
Rumored 5.5" Note 2 (16:9)
Screen area: 12.92
Height: 4.8" (12.18 cm) (a bit taller)
Width: 2.69" (6.84 cm) (SLIMMER!)
If they go with a 16:9 screen and if they decide to keep the form factor the same, they could go for a screen display of at least 5.7" and still keep the casing the same.
If they however stick with a 5.5" screen size, 16:9 ratio and a reduced bazel, the note will get a almost 0.5cm slimmer

Always been bad at maths so it took me a while to get it but yeah I would love a slimmer and a bigger note II with the same 16:9 ratio..

Yes...
I'm just waiting for it :]
16:9, mali-400 again, ¿ram?
if these are final specs, then go fcuk yourself samsung, I'll wait to Note 3 or the rumored bigger htc
16:9 would be a lot better.
I liked my AT&T Note, but it was too wide and the chipset wasn't powerful enough
Hope the resolution stays the same or higher. Web browsing is a lot easier with more vertical res. (phone horizontally obviously).
Don't have the current Note (have the original Galaxy S!), but will probably get the Note 2 when it is out. Perfect compromise between phone and tablet if you want both in one device IMO.

Some leaks online, looks like the NOTE 2 will be:
- officially revealed in 15th August
- available (international) in September-October period
- codename GT-N7100
- Android 4.0.4 with TouchWizz 5
- Have the same SoC as the SGS3 (Exynos 4412)
- Slightly overclocked cpu (1.6GHz) and gpu (Mali-400)
- Larger 2GB RAM
- Super Amoled Plus tech (not PenTile)
- 1280 x 720 resolution
- On-screen Navigation Buttons
- Slightly larger 5.5inch display
- Slightly Wider, Thinner, about the same Height.
- 12MP camera
- NFC
- Possibly bigger battery (between 2500 and 3200mAh)
... it's more like a NOTE1.5 or SGS 3.5 than anything else. I think its safe to "pass" on this, if you have the original NOTE.
This revelation isn't a shock to me, but a big disappointment since I was hoping for a genuine NOTE 2:

If its gonna be quad core then I think it would most definitely have just a single GB of RAM. There won't be any on screen buttons, it would also be "designed for humans" like GSIII. Camera might just be 8MP with the same tech as SGIII. I rather think the screen would be pentile (galaxy nexus and GSIII both have pentile displays). Might be 4.0.4 but I would think they might even launch it with JB now that JB is officialy out.
To summarize, its gonna be a bigger S3.

I enjoy my note.
But with those specs, I 'd rather go the Gnex + Nexus7 route. Google experience devices are a win win situation for anyone that doesn't need to be on the bleeding edge.
The only deciding factor for me would be slightly bigger screen size. And if it goes with 16:9 ratio with 5.5", it doesn't increase acutal screen area. So not much interested. Will wait for GSNote 3.
Come on guys, quad core and NFC alone is worth the upgrade!!
Sad... i dont like those specs ..

NFC is not that popular and Mali-400MP4 not that bleeding edge.
Gimme Exynos 5 Dual with ARM15 and a Mali-604 and I am game
Same screen resolution and same RAM amount == not worthy upgrade

NOTE 2
NOTE 2!!!!!!!!!!
If you watch videos during long train, subway rides regularly, playing video will even be a major leap, than a minor one.
Because of the Galaxy Note 1's 16:10 resolution, if you prefer video to be uncropped, you only used 4.77" of Galaxy Note 1's 5.3" screen when playing a 16:9 resolution video. Pretty much all TV shows and movies are encoded in this resolution today.
However, on the Galaxy Note 2, you will be using all 5.5" to play 16:9 video.
That is 0.73" gained diagonally when playing video. Very significant. But again, only if you don't like cropping to fill the Galaxy Note 1 screen. I personally hate cropping and have never cropped a video on my free will in my life so this is a big deal.

This is for the International version right? I really hope all versions have 1700 mHz support. Or that T-mobile has its 1900 mHz network up by the time I get this phone (if I ever do).
The Note 2 also has a backlit sensor like the GS3 but unlike the first Note.
Given the similarities with the GS3, it seems likely the Note 2 comes with the Wolfson DAC but I haven't seen any confirmation of this.
I can count a total of 10 improvements (11 if you are interested in the 64GB model):
Edit: Supercurio has confirmed the Wolfson DAC which makes it the 11th hardware improvement on each Note 2.
1. Quadcore
2. More RAM
3. Bigger battery
4. Improved Spen
5. Gorilla Glass 2
6. NFC
7. RGB pixel arrangement
8. Notification light
9. Bluetooth 4
10 Backlit sensor
11 Wolfson DAC
Overall I think it's an impressive upgrade and I am not sure why some people were unhappy. I think there was some disappointment with the reduced resolution but it's just a 7% reduction in DPI and is more than compensated by the newer pixel arrangement. And we haven't even mentioned all the software goodies.

Sweet. I wasn't aware of the RGB pixel arrangement until you mentioned it. Everyone just assumed pentile from day 1 and I hadn't heard it was different since. Thanks for pointing that out. Now I want the Galaxy Note 2 even more.

I have seen it called RGB although an unusual variant. After all, there is a red, green and blue sub-pixel in every pixel.
Incidentally Supercurio has confirmed the Wolfson DAC and I have edited my post to add an 11th improvement.

Thanks - updated 1st post.
There's no reason not to call it RGB since each white pixel has an R, G, and B subpixel.

HTC M9 / HTC Hima specs
The HTC M9 specs rumored leaked. Same specs as droid turbo. Those specs will be outdated by the time it comes out. They need to step up their game with Snapdragon 810, 16 ultrapixel cam 8mp front cam. 4k screen if possible prob not though. 64 bit processor, 3 gig ram 3gh 30% louder boomsound. I even emailed HTC about it today. I feel they should listen to people about what they need in a phone.

I could care less about the cpu processor at this point. it only can get so good with phones.. The cpu it have now is plenty fine . The camera needs updated, and work on the boom sound some more.
I could care less about a 4k screen
A phone does not need a 64gb processor
so:
-better camaera
-improve boom
-Improve screen
-larger screen
- it will be sweet if they could make the buttons on the side touch
that are just rumored specs, which aren't official yet so yea i assume the real specs will be different!

Wow are you requesting a spaceship?
1- nothing is called M9 it's HIMA now.
2- No 4K screens yet.
3- bigger speakers bigger camera means way thicker phone.
4- 8MP on the front is #fail. You need something like Ultrapixel so image quality will be the same in sunlight and dark conditions. Even our 5MP front camera sucks in low light.

So you did a quick google search to find the first phoney website that reported user upgrade every 2 years. let alone, the article is dated JUNE 2011.. Failed!!! On so many levels
users now are updating every year, that is why tmobile, Verizon, sprint and ATT offers early upgrading. if it was not a niche for it companies would not be offering it
People are upgrading phones when ever they see one they like which is 6 months to 1 year
try again:silly:

Here's my sources http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/...2-inch-qhd-display-and-snapdragon-805-inbound
The Sony Z4 is supposed to be Snapdragon 810 so HTC should be doing 64bit soon since their mid-range is already 64bit.
HTC One M8
I really hope we are not forced to go above 5" if we want a flagship HTC phone.
Fingerss crossed for:
5" 1080p or QHD
8mp+ ultra pixel
805 sOC
2GB or 3GB ram
32GB minimum storage with SD support
minimum bezel (remove the HTC logo part)
Dual speakers
something like
5.2" would be perfect.

At least a 5.5 with thin bezels like LG.. (qhd wont really matter, apps are not optimized)
16mp/5mp
805/810
3GB RAM
Louder Boom Sound Speakers
Bigger Battery

No way, this might be the case in the US, Europe, Japan and smaller richer Asian countries but definitely not the majority of the people. It's not affordable for them which is precisely why Google wanted to change their tactics and bring out affordable devices that runs latest Android but at a cheaper price like the Moto G(?) and the Nexus devices(Even though it's not widely available). It's common fact that majority of the users of Android still use old Android versions(Honeycomb, Gingerbread, ICS). This is definitely true where I'm at as well, I see a lot of people with early Android devices, most of them walk with S3s, few people have the S4, S5, HTC One M8/M7 or Sony Xperia Z, Z2 haven't even seen anyone with a Z3.
It's not affordable for the majority of people on this planet and statistics like that should include everyone not just those from wealthy 1st world countries where buying a phone every 6months is the fashionable thing to do.
That being said, this entire topic shouldn't even be here, it should be in the OFF-Topic or general section(Not related to a specific device forum). So I just made my post before the close.
