Gvoice Number Porting - LIVE for everyone! - EVO 4G General

According to the Gvoice blog, it's live, live live.

Same error for me.

I don't even get the link to check my phone. It shows a Sprint logo though.

Noticed the prompt this morning, still not sure if I'll make the change. Kind of like the dual number juggle myself.

im getting an error too....

if you have any type of discount you can't do it till sprint fixes there i386 lol
inorder to do it you have to contact sprint get them to remove your discount till the google sprint kicks in then get them to reapply your discount

Yeah, I'm on the phone with Sprint right now. Went to tech support, the first guy had no idea what google voice was.....then he sent me to someone else, and now I am talking to business relations because I have a employee discount.....talk about a headache!

What I was planning on doing iis porting this number to another one of my gmail accounts, then I'd just use the gvoice app to keep using my current gvoice number, which I only use for texting ; I use my sprint number for calls.

It probably won't, since most of the people at Sprint probably don't even know what Google Voice is, let alone what color the Sprint logo is.

im still not clear on what the big deal is about this, it doesnt sound that great but thats just me i guess

I have an employee discount an ported my number to GVoice no problem last week.... Am I going to lose my discount or something?

Well, that was great, on the phone with 5 different people to find out that certain types of phones accounts will not work with this (pre-paid, nextel, corporate and government accounts). So, if you get a discount for being in the military, you can't do this.

Google should just buy Sprint and get into the market that way.

Anyone out there already use gv callback with sprint to home? That's what I currently use and wondering if there's any benefit (or drawback) to porting. ?

If you use your Google voice as your sprint to home number it will not work any more because your sprint number will be your GV number. Your GV number will go away after 3 months once you convert.

[Q] Is it possible to use 2 Epics with one phone number?

I wanna get another cdma phone for my girlfriend but dont want to add extra line.
My question is: can I flash a second Epic or Pal Pre 2 to same Sprint phone number as on my Epic and share one phone number without paying extra?
I know that I can use CDMA Workshop to flash any phone to any number right? So will it work if I flash second Epic or Palm Pre 2 to same phone number that I have?
At best it wouldn't work well and at worst Sprint would figure it out. Not recommended.
It's probably not very practical. My guess is that they'll figure it out and then fine you or something. I think you'd have to modify the ESN to do what you want to, which is considered illegal (some say it's debatable? I'm not that knowledgeable on this topic)
You can do that, however only one phone can be on at a time otherwise you should expect Sprint to ask some questions.
And what happens when you receive a call? Would both phones ring? Or just one?
I've never tried it. Too risky
Go for it. Just don't be mad when you get arrested for fraud and whatnot
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
this is 100% possible and works, both phones will ring on an incoming call, both will receive the same text messages. With that aside, this is known as cloning and is a Class A Felony, Sprint will also be able to detect 2 phones using the same number/ESN/MEID and will shut you down ASAP.
tl:dr its possible, but you'll end up in prison
Isn't this the phone cloning that happened in the 90's and is extremely illegal?

I wonder if I can do that through Sprint and how much would it cost?
Another question,I really want to try out Webos, what if I flash PalmPre 2 to same phone number but use one phone at a time(completly remove battery on unused phone) is that illegal too?
It's illegal either way, I wouldn't even try it. If you can't afford it, don't worry about having another phone.

Try Google Voice and set it up to ring both your phones. It's legal, free, and safe.

Came in to say this. They won't be totally cloned, but they'll both ring, etc. And you get to choose the number!
But reading OP's statement... Google Voice is not free phone service. You will not be able to do this.

Sprint will not do this. To accomplish what you're suggesting would be to clone an ESN/MEID which is illegal (Debatable).. HOWEVER..
if you were to have 2 devices with a common MEID, and the same/shared MDN/MSID both 'tied' to one number the cell tower will only connect the MEID one time. both devices 'MAY' ring at the same time, however only one device will be allowed to connect to the call.
YMMV

Sprint Called Me Today and now I'm "Winning"

So a random number called me this morning and I missed it. I don't usually return these calls but today I decided to.
After the phone rang, someone answered, "Hello, this is Sprint's Customer Service, how can I help you today?" I told the rep that I had received a missed call from this number and he said ok, and wanted to talk to me about some things with Sprint.
I had received calls like this before, requesting lots of my info, just to try to get me to buy a second line; but I decided to listen (I mean who wants to work anyways?).
He took all my info and then told me that they noticed that I use my 3G service more than 4G. He then asks me why? I told him, straight up, battery life. 4G is a battery killer.
He takes a moment and then says, well, for the first 1000 customers that we contact, we are offering a second, backup, battery for $0.99. I then proceded to ask what size it was, do they have extended batterys, etc. Turns out I just missed the extended batteries but they still had some 1500mah batteries.
I ordered one even though I have the stock 1500mah and a 2600mah just because it was only $1.04 after tax; why would you pass this up?! The rep told me the amount will show up on my sprint bill and that it will be at my house on March 16th; and that was that.
Basically, if sprint called you today and you want a battery for $0.99, call them back and tell them why you dont use 4G!
woah what is the number they called you from? I wanna see if I can get the same deal.
awesome...
If they call I'll be sure to tell them that I don't use 4g because its a battery killer and it doesn't damn work at my house! Wonder if they will give me a "4g Airave" lol.
I had a number call me today from an 805 area code. I picked it up but no one ever said anything so after I said hello 3 times I just hung up
I sure hope you didnt give them your credit card info. Sounds like a scam to me. Sprint would never just call you as ask if you want a cheap battery...
Sounds like a phishing scam. It was probably to get you to give up your number and pin so they could order equipment and bill it to your account. I would call and change your pin and see if anything was done in your account.

once again, it's probably a scam. If it's not, then you should just be able to call *2 and ask for it. But again, I highly doubt sprint would just call people and ask if they want a cheap battery. Sprint never puts accessories on sale just over the phone. If they were on sale, it would also be on the website.
Yeah I'd be careful about something like this ... I too hope you didn't give out CC info even though they said they're charging to bill. Don't want to be #DuhLosing
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
because scammers know you have a 4g phone lol
Sprint WANTS you to use 4g. They dont have a congested 4g network. They DO have a congested, constipated 3G network.
Just like when nextel merged with sprint. everyone was told to push Sprint phones as the nextel network was so overloaded it was on the verge of collapse. That was why you always got the "Please wait while the nextel subscriber you are trying to reach is located" messages. That is how the 3G network is now, and that is why everyone and their mother has been complaining about 3G speeds lately
Who says they have to know to ask? If somehow they know you're a sprint customer ... however that may be ... just sounds more curious than not. Scammers work lime that ... they try to target and sometimes it doesn't go as it should, they ask questions that don't apply ... but they're hitting tons of people so ratio of blah blah blah to bleh .... just saying. Be careful, honestly hope its legit. Just seems strange.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I hope it was not a scam, they were able to tell me what my secuirty question was and what my address was and I did not give them my PIN, just the answer to the security question.. I just changed my PIN and security question/answer to be safe..
I will post up on the 16th to see if I got a battery.. and no they did not ask for my CC info
the number was 877-624-****
Well, certainly sounds more legit.

Sprint and Google Voice FTW

Soon, you can use your Sprint number with Google Voice, without having to pay to port it over, and without having to cancel your Sprint line! Your Sprint number will double as your Google Voice number (or you can switch your current Google Voice number to be your new Sprint number). Either way, you have one number that will be both your Sprint number AND your Google Voice number (if you want)!

Here is Sprint's page about the new program:

Should still be free mobile-to-mobile too!

This news combined with the official announcement of a Nexus S 4G coming out to Sprint ... I think Google is positioning itself with the only carrier left that wants to play nicely.
I will gladly swap to use my google # and only my Google # if it means it integrates my mobile minutes properly. I already loved GV.

It shouldn't be long before mms work with GV. They already have the technology and know-how to get it to work, it's just a matter of getting Google to actually implement it. Even though Google is a very fast moving company for it's size, things still take some time.
This is what the creator of GV recently said.
So do we get free calling to Canada now?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
This is pretty sweet as long as it doesn't kill the free mobile to mobile. Currently all GV number outgoing and incoming calls are treated as land line calls regardless of whether or not you call a mobile number. Hopefully this will be addressed. Free mobile to mobile is the main thing that keeps me at Sprint and I would love for it to be integrated with GV.
I don't understand how this works. I already use GV and I have a number that I chose which is easy to memorize. I don't use it for texting but I do use it to mask my number sometimes.
It's my understanding that I can replace my Sprint number with the GV number without getting an ETF. Is that right? I'd prefer to use my GV number as my primary and my Sprint as the secondary if it's available. I don't mind losing my Sprint number if I can get my GV number as my primary.
I'm super excited about this. I use GV as my primary number (I was lucky enough to get an invite way, way back). I hope using my gv number will be like calling a mobile number. I have my phone set up to ask me if I want to call with google voice or my cell right now. People get confused when they see my cell number coming up instead of my google voice number.
If you go to this Google website, you can enter your email and be notified when it becomes available to you.
Here is the Sprint Page explaining it, as well.

FCC and Verizon

Sent off a complaint to the FCC in regard to non-vzw nexus 6 on the vzw network. Basically, I said that the CFR states that they cant prevent us from using services the way there were intended to be just becaue we are using a non-vzw device. I spoke with someone at the FCC and they said I should file the complaint becuase not allowing customers to change their account details violates the C-block CFR.
Lets see where this goes.....
It is seeming more and more that Verizon doesn't want customers. I am about to leave them but I have unlimited grandfather data so I can't.

Google and Motorola Should Be Held Accountable
Read the following article for background:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...te-one-that-wasnt-purchased-from-the-carrier/
Google and Motorola should team up and take Verizon to court over this issue. Probably won't happen, they all share the same bed.
Google and Motorola should at the very least post a warning for Nexus 6 buyers about the problems with Verizon service and non-branded Verizon devices.
My feeling is that the financial folks at Verizon are making these type of poor decisions. Verizon is just too big to be held accountable for their behavior.
Rant off ....
What's the issue? Motorola phones work on and off Vzw network, and plan changes have nothing to do with your phone. Been with VZW for 10 yrs and never had issues. I have a Mot bought Nexus 6 and works beautifully. What issues are people seeing?

This is not true.
If your devices is basically "unknown" they freeze the settings. For example my play store GPS they would not add volte to my account. Had to put my sim in a verizon nexus 6 for 5 minutes for them to make the change.
