[Q] ideos x5 dropping 3g - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hi All,
Recently got myself an X5 (former win mobile user) loving it so far
My question is, data/3g connection seems to drop out randomly, the only way to restore it is by re-selecting it within mobile network settings any ideas?
As for the phone, it's great, especially for the cost of them. I have been using it for around two weeks now and no major issue as yet. Only annoyance is touch sensitive button can be easily pressed when in landscape mode.

I've also noticed this but just lock the screen for a few seconds then unlock because I have it set to disconnect data when screen is off.

same
Same problem here, I've changed already some Roms, but the problem persists. It happens pretty often that the signal is at minimum and a couple of times also showed "Emergency calls only". I also noticed that the signal level seems to be more affected while connecting through wi-fi. I guess smth. is wrong.
And I use only GSM not 3G.

Strange phone issues with Samsung Galaxy S

Hi,
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S about a month ago, and have been having odd problems with it since the off. Has anyone else had these sort of symptoms:
1. I occasionally lose my data connection - the icon disappears from the top of the screen and whilst I can still make and recieve calls and text messages, I cannot download anything in any app. The only way I've found to get my data connection back is to reset the phone. This happens maybe a couple of times a week.
2. My WiFi seems to suffer from a similar problem. I can be browsing the web on Wifi, then suddenly I'll not be able to download anything anymore. The wifi icon is still visible, but I'll basically be unable to download anything until I switch the wifi off and back on again. Then, it starts working as normal again.
In both these above scenarios, I think I've narrowed it down to primarily happening after I use the Android Market, but it's difficult to tell as it's very intermittent.
3. A couple of times since getting the phone, I've been unable to make or receive any calls. Even switching the phone off and back on didn't help - my signal bar was showing I had a signal and my data connection was still active. Couldn't tell if this was a network problem or not though as there weren't any people nearby on the same network as me. After a while, it started working normally again.
4. The email client randomly lost all of my email settings. One day I was receiving all my emails, the next day I had no email accounts set up at all.
5. I installed Sensor Dump and Phone Explorer to see what data was coming in from the sensors, and have noticed that the light sensor never sends any data. Is this normal?
I also have the usual slow-down issues, etc, but the above have got me stumped as I can't find anyone else reporting the same issues. When I first got the phone, I went crazy installing a load of Android apps, so initially I blamed the software I'd installed. After a reset and being a bit more selective with the apps I install and use, I'm still getting the same issues. I just can't pin down whether this is a faulty phone that I should return, or if there are software issues either relating to the way I'm using the phone or just with bugs in the firmware.
Has anyone else had anything like the above happen with their Galaxy S?
Thanks,
Chris.
I've experienced no.2 several times, wifi just stopping all data traffic. Not found out what causes it though.
As for the other problems, I haven't experienced any of those. Do you use automatic brightness on the display? If not, problem no. 5 might be caused by the sensor being turned off.
thanks for the reply - at least I'm not completely alone!
I have the automatic brightness turned on - which is why it seems odd. To be honest, I've never actually see the auto brightness do anything. It always seems to be the same brightness to me.
Cheers,
Chris.

I think it might be normal that older mails disappear from the inbox after some time? My problem was that everything went. I had three email accounts set up, all downloading emails every hour. Then, one day I went into the email app and there were no accounts at all! I had to set it all up from scratch again.
I hear there are better email apps available for Android, so I'll probably switch to one of those soon.

anyone have the solution for this?
Hi,
I bought a Galaxy S on Orange UK in July. I'm having the same problem as 1. quite consistenly now.
I thought it might be related to the green power battery saver app I had installed, but i've removed this and still having the problem.
I'm using the phone in several central London locations so I think it's unlikely to be a problem with the data network.
Any suggestion would be welcome since I'm often without data.
Thanks
Nik
ive 1 and 3 but very rarely so far
rebooting fixes it for me
running froyo jp3
for email i use K9, it's almost the same as the integrated mail, only much better (PUSH imap)

I'm actually getting this happen a lot now. It seems to be getting worse, which makes me think it might be a hardware fault. I generally lose my data connection once or twice a day minimum, but some days the phone is virtually unusable.
I have found that it's more likely to happen after using Wi-Fi, so my other thought is that when coming out of Wireless mode, the phone may not switch the normal 3G/HSDPA data connection back on. Most of the time I can fix this by putting the phone into flight mode and then back out, but sometimes it needs a complete reset.
The other problem I've noted with the data connection is that sometimes it seems to rapidly switch between HSDPA and 3G - the data icon at the top of the screen keeps going from '3G' to 'H' then back again. I guess it has something to do with signal quality but it only seems to happen when the phone is showing a good signal strength (four bars). The problem I've found when this happens is that it virtually locks up any ongoing data transfers, making it impossible to download a webpage or check my emails. Strangely the only way I've really found to stop this happening is to move somewhere where my signal strength is weaker, such as indoors, which then seems to make the phone stop attempting to use HSDPA. I can't find a way to switch off HSDPA from within the phone's settings while leaving 3G on.
I really am now finding that using this phone is an increasingly frustrating experience. I've found even more weird faults, such as sometimes my text conversations show the wrong people's names up against them, and then my replies go to the wrong people. It's like an insane, shiny mess of a phone!

I am indeed experiencing same problems above..it just drive me crazy with a need of complete reset everyday..
turning on n off flight mode won't change anything..
I really hope someone can bring a miracle to solve this problem..
I'm on XXJPC
setting the APN parameter(Setting-->Wireless and network-->Mobile Networks-->Access Point Names-->New APN) to 2G only seems to solve the 'lost data connection' problem..
I am connected 24/7 now..
Give a try guys!

Phone sometimes disconnects when using WIFI

hi, sometimes when i look at my phone, usually after being on wifi the phone shows no bars.
sometimes it comes back on in a min, i tried airplane mode but it wouldnt work. so i restarted it and worked fine.
not sure why it happens, does anyone else have this? could it be due to some Wifi calling setting? not sure why phone seems to just cut off.
anyone have any idea why this may be happening?
does it turn off radio for wifi calling somehow or? just random.
I have a similar issue, but not equal. Sometimes, when I try to connect to the network I always do (home), it simply doesn't work. Scanning - disconnected - scanning - disconnect. Only a phone reset fixes this.
Sheep ROM 2.0
AbyssNote Kernel 2.5
I had a similar issue a while ago and sent Mine back to the seller but the seller claimed neither they nor Samsung could find a problem with the phone. Thankfully The seller sent me a replacement which no longer gives me this problem so it may be the handset, though it could also be the setting/Conflicting app. Someone reported here his problem Was solved after adjusting a w ifi regulating app
i have a 3-day old gnote and i started noticing this problem after i have my phone rooted. the wifi icon stays on but there's no internet connection. turning the screen off and waking the phone after a minute solves the problem but its annoying to be losing connection when you're needing it. i'm on stock KKA.

Not a user error so need to contact Samsung-don't think is anyway
I have a somewhat similar problem. When I am using wifi for somewhat long time, I am unable to connect back to my 3g. Or if I was on 3g connection and I move out of coverage area for a little more than 10 minutes, I can't reconnect to 3g. Only 3g connection has this problem though, everything else works fine.
If I restart the phone, I can reconnect. Setting to airplane mode and resetting doesn't help. Neither does resetting the mobile network operators.
Yes, the problem seems to be software related since there is no actual problem with receiving 3g/phone.
yesterday i drove back 10 hrs and streamed music/radio the entire way with only a few tiny interruptions in reception.
but often still if i just take my phone out of my pocket, the "phone" part will be off and usually turn back on within 1-2 mins.
but this is quite annoying since sometimes il literally be waiting for 1-2 mins to place a call.
my phone is "not" rooted.

[Q] defy+ data network woes

i have a variation on the data network problems, not as annoying as reboots,
but getting close.
normally i am on GSM only, as my data needs are low and it extends
battery life. for hours, everything is dandy. then i notice that
the "G" icon and the signal bar are not blue anymore (stock theme)
but grey. 'settings' say i am still data "connected", but in fact
data connection is out (the operating system thinks there is
data connection, browsers and mail clients keep spinning and
trying until timeout).
turning on and off wifi makes the phone try to connect to the data
network again. sometimes this works, but more often that not, i have
to switch to 3G mode for this to work, and sometimes even that does
not help, and i have to go airplane mode to turn the radio on and off
completely. otherwise it just tries and tries and tries to reconnect,
draining the battery like crazy, and sometimes resulting in these
mysterious reboots others are experiencing as well.
is this the phone or a network problem? (tmobile in the netherlands)
i was on the same network, same SIM with an older LG android phone
and i dont recall having this problem, so i am a bit hesitant
to blame the network for every outage...
should i just send it back for repairs/replacement?
system version: 45.0.74.MB526.Retail.en.DE
baseband: EPU93_U_00.60.00
for a while i will keep the phone in 3G mode to see if the same
problem exists. as my mobile data needs are low, it would be
a shame if i cannot keep it in GSM mode because of this...
I had the same problem couple of months back but since I'm on msginger don't have that enjoying problem anymore.
Ohh and as far as remember it was only when the battery was on maximum save, now I'm using custom and it's fine

i am on custom saving mode. i think that the saving modes, where
the data connection is cut off after some inactivity, just flesh out
the problem more, as trying to connect back to the data network
happens more often then during normal use, when data connection
is kept alive all the time.
since i set the connection mode to 3G or better, i did not have the problem
but that was only a couple of hours ago. sometimes a day goes by
without manifesting itself...
I'm on 2G all the time. And the custom saving still got set up for cutting the data off but i don't seem to have that problem anymore i can check later on if it would still appear on max saving.

so after days, it seems like i cannot reproduce these problems
while on 3G. seems like 2G only for data is not 100% reliable
either because of the phone or the network itself, or both.
pitty.
i m having problems with network reception with the 7.2 CM rom on the defy+.tried the baseband switcher in this link but still little or no reception
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1203297
i have been on 3G last couple of days, and no data woes.
however i had a spontaneous reboot, so the reboot problem
is seemingly not only a 2G issue (if it is)..

Losing mobile network

I have a stock t-mobile s7 edge device. It's losing the mobile network. I've noticed it a couple of months ago - it happened a few times but recently the problem is getting worse. It already happened 3 times this week.
Seems like completely random. Sometimes I notice it after I go somewhere with weak signal or no signal at all. Sometimes when I get back to an area with good signal it reconnects and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it shows the bars and says it's connected to t-mobile but 4g doesn't show up at all. So you can call but no internet. Sometimes no signal at all.
When it happens the only way to connect is to reboot the phone. Nothing else helps. If you try to connect to network manually - it can find t-mobile but unable to connect. just spins. Changing from lte to 3g or 2g also doesn't work.
I even tried to create a new APN - same thing.
Please heeeeelp...........
Last time this happened to me on another device, it was the sim card that had a problem. Have you tried with another SIM card?
No, but I don't believe it's a sim card related problem. Wife's phone has the same problem although less frequently. But she also travels less.
It looks like a configuration / firmware or maybe hardware issue to me.
I'm experiencing the same issue. It seems to happen when the phone loses signal completely like when deep inside a building. Then it won't reconnect to data or the network by itself.
From the first moment when I got my edge back in April I noticed that the radio performance was weaker than other phones. Then I got the Note 7 and same issue again. Then back to an s7 edge and the problem seems to be worse on this one specially after the latest software update.
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers mobile app
My wife (s7) and me (s7 edge), as well as a co-worker (s7) are having this same issue.
Before it was happening occasionally, but after the last update its happening WAY more often.
Wiping cache seems to help with frequency, but still did not eliminate the problem. Hopefully it gets fixed with an update. I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to put up with it.
Edit: I forgot to add a "simple" fix I've found that works almost all the time is to turn off mobile data, turn on airplane mode, turn off airplane mode, wait for signal, then turn on mobile data. Those steps in that exact order work for me most of the time.
So I've been having the same issues as everyone stated. The only fix is to reboot the phone, but who wants to that every time. I even changed the sim card!! I wish T-Mobile would get out of their feelings and start selling more flagship phones.
I have made the decision to jump to LG V20. I hope this issue doesn't exist with the LG.
I've just got my s7 edge and I'm sort of having same problem at home got 2 bars and sometimes goes to 4 bars but also wen I called someone the line was crackling but person said could her me fine so done a wiped cache and think it's sorted it now for the time being
(Edit ~ it's done it again could hardly hear person I was talking to)

S7 Edge G935W8 No Network

Hello Everyone
I have been using my S7 edge for the past two years without any problems. However a week ago I dropped my phone and then problems started. At times the capacitive touch buttons (back and recent apps) would not work. There is no response at all then after some time it would again work. Now it has stopped working completely. Secondly I experienced network signals drop for 3 4 hours and then everything worked fine but now it has been 5 days since my mobile signals have gone completely. When I manually search for mobile network, it doesn't even show my network. It's like the frequency band has completely vanished. Is it hardware or software issue? Plus my phone charges slowly now and keep on getting hot.
Any suggestions please.
Thanks

You may want to remove the back and check for loose connections. Depending on your particular skill set and available tools, it's not that difficult a process.
