[Q] Channel 12/13 Support - Acer Iconia A500

Hi There,
Has anyone noticed the a500 doesn't support channel 12/13 for UK?
This is proving quite irratating. Does anyone know how to enable this? In previous versions of android the regulatory settings could be controlled from the device settings but i can find no options. Does anyone know?

It looks like it is set for US 1-11channel, i dont know how to change it for europe 1-13channel.

Shouldn't be too hard, my Tegra 2 Gtab supports all 14 channels, you just select 11, 13 or 14(Japan). It doesn't even ask where you are, just offers those three options for the amount of channels.

But you have android 2.2, we have android 3.0.1 and this option in WIFI settings is missing there. How to change it otherway?

Any clue anyone?

Can a European or non-NA member can confirm they access channels 1-13 or 14? I'd be willing to risk flashing that to my A500, worst case I take it in and exchange it.

2.1 with sense and regulatory domain

First of all, sorry about my English. I hope I can describe my problem precisely.
On android 2.1 with Sense (official and custom roms) i can't find option "Regulatory domain" on advanced wifi settings. Maybe somebody know some tips about readd this option?

I'm pretty sure it's there on villainrom 12.

Menu, settings, wireless and networks, wifi settings, press menu button, choose advanced, select there.
Did you restore system data from another rom maybe? That can cause issues like this.
Yes, i did full wipe.
On VillainROM 12 i can't see regulatory domain on advanced wifi settings.
I have no idea what it does, but can also confirm I don't have an option, for "Regulatory thingy" on Villain12.
...
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
regulatory domain is where you can set which wifi channels the phone will search. in the us you are only alowed to use channel 1-11 while in europe you can use ch 1-13.
I really miss this option in VR 12 since channel 13 is the only one that is not crowded in my apartment.
uff i'm not alone Maybe smb know rom (2.1/sense) with this option?
VillainROM 12 -
ChocolateEclair 2.0 -
CronosDroid + (probably, info from changelog WiFi channels added +11 +12 +13)
FroydVillain has channel 1-14
Yes, but this rom based on froyo (without sense). On rom without sense i can't see this problem.
I have VillainROM 12 and don't see "Regulatory domain", but channel 13 works just fine. Maybe it depends on the radio version? I have 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26.
hm.. intresting. i have vr 12 with 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.14 and i can't see channel 13.
I saw an interesting thing. When You change on Your AP the channel to less than 12, of course You can connect to wifi (hero must remember your ssid). Then if you change the channel on a larger You can see (on wifi manager from market) and you can connect to your network on 12,13,14 channel. Unfortunately it works only for the restart hero.
In my opinion it doesnt depend on the version of RADIO, because on ROM without sense everything works.

Nand wifi problem.Help needed.

Hi.
I tried out the nand version of the android and, it seems that i can not connect to my wifi network.
It does not see my network, it is not listed in the available networks list.
Tried to change the router config, security options,WEP,WPA,WPA2, but still no luck.Tried to connect manually, still no connection.
Tried Cotulla s rom, the cyanogen rom, and the desire hd rom, still the same issue.
If i go back to winmo, wifi works great, android from sd card works great, so i really do not know what the issue is.
Anyone any ideas?
thank you.

Are you restricting access by MAC address, by any chance? At least on gauner's HD build, it's 00:11:22:33:44:55, so not your usual address.
If that's the problem, you can add that address to your router's list of allowed addresses, or perhaps edit /system/etc/calibration as described here.

Checked in the router settings and the MAC filtering is off, so this should not be the issue.
the mac address is what you said 00:11:22:33:44:55.
Any (other) idea?
Hmm... Regional differences in allowed wifi channels? Is your router set to use a channel above 11?
A bit of a long shot, this.

Yes it is 12 or 13 i do not know for sure, but why is it working in winmo and sd android?
Thank you for your help.
It is not working. But...
I flashed the NexusHD2 and it has some option in the advanced wifi menu, called REGULATORY DOMAIN and i can select how many channels to use. I selected 14 and it is working.
So it was like you said, something with the last channels.
Now working great, and the download speed is.... freackin fast. And 205 mb free storage.
So thank you.

Good to hear you got things working. Was actually looking for a similar option on the Desire HD build I'm running, but couldn't find it. If you ever decide to use a different build, you might want to check the Market - I'm sure there are a few apps out there that can make this sort of change.

T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling.

So does anyone have an idea on how to get this to work on AOSP ROMS? I'm making new vebdor blobs and the only real new APK I see is CNEService. There's other files here and there but nothing I can tell that will help with this.

Im very interested in helping with this as I would love wifi calling on my gpe htc one m8, anything you guys need to test ill do it. I even have an old m7 with aosp firmware on it I'm willing to brick for the cause if needed.
I'm on 5.1.1, and I'm on T-Mobile with my Nexus 6. Anything you need? My Bootloader is unlocked, but I'm stock and not rooted

I am running the stock ROM (don't worry, bro, be back later today :victory: ) and I just got an update on an app I had never seen before: Google Connectivity Services. The tag line is "Improved Networking for Android", and the description talks about automatic wifi connections and Google VPN. Obviously this is a precursor to Fi, but I am wondering if the delay for T-Mobile WiFi calling was to wait for it to be built on the Fi platform for WiFi calling, which we know will be part of the deal.
Not sure what to make of it, other than it's looking very proprietary right now.

Yeah the Google Connection Service app has been on the Play Store for awhile. I already added it to my blobs. Yeah it is looking proprietary, but I'm sure we can get it to work. It's been done on other phones before.
i have faith is will be a short time before you guys get it to work

You won't brick, the WiFi calling feature requires framework changes that (I can pretty guarantee) are not open source.
Second: This is in the DEVELOPERS ONLY section, so if you guys want to discuss WiFi calling and aren't actually working on it then you need to move general discussion of it to a different thread. This area is strictly for development and discussion of such development (technical things, not "oh nice can't wait" or "I'll test for you" )
i think we should look at the file systems for the stock nexus 6 and t mobile nexus 6 and check for differences i know its a long shot but ill check it out tonight and see what i can find.
Second: see development were not just chatting anymore
Third: If anyones already done that please tell me so I don't have to its gonna take forever.

you need tmobiles blobs. besides that, all n6 roms will be identical.
So I decompiled LYZ28E and took a look around in the Settings app. It has a class called WifiCallingSettings. Inside there it makes calls to ImsManager.isWfcEnabledByUser. It seems like Wfc is WiFi Calling. I took a look at frameworks/opt/net/ims/src/java/com/android/ims/ImsManager.java and it doesn't have a function called isWfcEnabledByUser. I looked at android-5.1.1_r4 and android-m-preview tags. I think we need to wait for Google to push androiid-5.1.1_r5. According to https://android.googlesource.com/pl...om/+/ecfa803f8e7ca0cb65e74fb4dda90c16156655f3 that's the tag for LYZ28E.
From what I've been told by a guy I know at Tmo, you can only use WiFi Calling on phones that have been authorized by Tmo. (Example) Nexus 5 with Android M preview shouldn't be able to do WiFi calling. Even though Google is now baking in WiFi calling into Lollipop and M.
Check out the latest revision (5.1.1_r5) on AOSP. It includes WiFi calling support. Check it!

I will add that you don't just need the frameworks part but also kernel commits to support this WPC feature
I'll submit the specific changes made to bcmdhd driver (rather than just merge the entire m-preview kernel) to Omni Github once it is tested further and verified functional and stable for merge.

Interesting. Todays nightly came closer than ever!
Stock CM Kernel allowed me to get the IWLAN status in SIM Status, but the Data Quick Toggle Shows TMOBILE (Not WiFi Calling), and I am unable to call out. Also, WiFi Calling Settings don't show up in the "More" Tab (Under Wireless & Mobile Network Settings), and no WiFi Calling toggle in the Dialer (Does CM use the Google Dialer? Or its own?).
Interesting. It seems like the hard part is done at least.

To my knowledge, all wfc builds so far have merged the m-preview kernel into the lollipop-mr1 kernel. I believe I have the specific commits needed and it will be up on Omni's github once ready.

Bluetooth 5.0- How to use Dual Audio?

We all know 1+5 is having Bluetooth 5.0 which can let you connect 2 devices at one time but how to use it?
Galaxy S8 has an inbuilt option known as "Dual Audio" which lets you do that!
Any playstore app that you recommend?
Thanks in advance!
S* has it because samsung made "its own" software for dual audio. Bluetooth 5 is not enabled until Android O. Current version of android does not support BL 5

Of course not Well go to developer settings obviously and then below the option of the USB configuration, you'll find all Bluetooth specific options. The option you're looking for is called something like "Mode for bluetooth audio channel" and there you can select mono or stereo.

I think what @TheDj408 wants to achieve is bluetooth streaming/casting to two different devices (speakers, etc.), which is different from the bluetooth audio mode options you've mentioned.

That's the same thing I want to do. Basically stream music on two devices at the same time. I don't even know if the Galaxy S8 is capable of doing that or if it also just got streaming the audio to one and everything else to other device.
So current solution with developer settings just enable this mode. I hope someone will look into it when Oreo gets more spread.

That is not a solution, that will just change the bluetooth audio output mode (between mono and stereo sound) but only for the device it is already streaming to. It will not change the number of devices you can stream to.

I know that there is an option... I have found it... But I can't connect two boxes/speakers
Maybe someone is able to write something like a mod for enabling this... Something you can use with root access... But I don't know if that's possible
Has anyone found a solution yet?

Not rooted, no custom firmware, cable line at 120mbps. On speedtest, I never go more that 4.5 wich is lower than my upload speed??? Also, never saw my 5ghz band. Looking at specs on few sites, it is suppose to take it, right?

Different countries use different 5ghz channels. Make sure the ROM you flash is the one for your local.

Hi. You can fix this but need root. Need fix one line in the file qcom_cfg.ini . Open this file (it is on system/etc/firmware/wlan) in text editor(RootExplorer for example) . In the midle text find this line
gChannelBondingMode5GHz=1
and change it to
gChannelBondingMode24GHz=1
Save. Reboot.
Try this. Need help
P.S. I not checked on my Tab. Checked on another qualcomm device.

Fix, to support the width of the Wi-fi channel 40Mhz (only for 2.4Ghz frequency). You increase speed only.
