Acer Iconia A500 Full Benchmark Test - Acer Iconia A500

Iconia Tab A500 scored 1895 in the Benchmark test, see pics below.

stock i was getting 2100s also this need to be moved to general area no dev area.

i get well over 2300

I'd like to see how it stacks up against other HC tablets...

I got 2187 with CPU Tuner set to "performance"

i bought "set cpu" for 1.99 and set custom lowest 927 mhz highest 1ghz

This belongs in the general section -> has nothing to do with Dev

How do you guys get such high scores? On Engadget's review they state that they got 2200 - 2300 on Quadrant, however on my Tab I get around 1900 every time like the OP... Also on Linpack I get 37Gflops, Engadget say the Tab breaks 42Gflops... Is there a dual core optimized version of Quadrant and Linpack?

How many apps do u have.
also when they run benchmarks they normally kill all the tasked with advanced task killer before running.

I do a fresh reboot with all task killed, run them both get between 2100-2300 usually then about 43-45 teraflops

This has to be MegaFLOPS ya?? i mean TeraFLOPS a bit high expected from a RISC SOC isnt it? and by the way we need overclocked kernal for A500 I see Xoom hit 65 MFLOPS with 1.5GHz clock speed!

i rot 42,3 megaflops in linpack andere between 2200 - 2300 in quadrant...

i got 2400+ on Quadrant

Whatever I do I never get over 1930..

Do you have a live wallpaper on?

In quadrant, I normally get just under 2000 the first run, then if i run it a 2nd time my scores are between 2000 - 2300, just as mentioned.
Yea, it would be nice for a kernel hack, to speed up the a500 if needed. Its not a must for me, as battery times plays more of a factor.

I got 2282.
CPU:7139 Mem:2484 I/O:1034 2D:86 3D:665

I just got 2339 on mine. Only had quadrant and avg antivirus thingy running.

2653 CPU 8627 mem 2512 I/O 1396 2d 87 3d 642

My £200 advent vega tab is well faster than my Iconia in both quadrant and smartbench 2011,#
Just one more reason to get this thing unlocked so we can get it over-clocked.

Quadrant standard scores

I wonder if honeycomb runs slow. The highest quadrant standard score I can get is 2130. My atrix was averaging 2650.
My gtablet gets around 3600 with a hack. Xoom, 2200.

I noticed that the benchmark hung at database writes and very low framerates for the first graphics test. I got 1907 overall...

Exact same thing with me. Linpack is in the 30's though.
Could be quadrant is not honeycomb ready like it wasn't for gb till an update

I'm pretty sure that screen resolution is the culprit for the low scores. I ran smart bench and the results were basically double my Droid X. Only difference is in smart bench the graphics sections didn't scale for the screen.

[Q] CPu and Quadrant

Hello!
I really dont know whats normal for a X8 in Quadrant but my X8 are sometimes lying around 682 but I've also been on 720-750 a couple of times. How can those numbers be so different?
Phone info:
Used since: 2010-12-24
ROM: Rachts CM7 Rc4 2.3.3 (Latest update)
CPU: Overclocked to 710 MHz
I can't post my question in the Development thread about overclocking because I don't have 10 posts but I've now overclocked it just to 710 (Normal with that "program") but how can i try to go up to 730 Mhz now?
Thanks
RoseN
Added some more info to first post...
The number show you the speed of your phone the time you test is. This means that if the next time you make the test your phone search for network or you play with your screen or you download something or you have many programmes running then the result of your speed will be lower.
What quadrant does is called benchmarking. Basically, it measures your phones performance in several aspects and at the end you could compare it to some of the big guns in android.
It analyses the CPU, 2D and 3D performance, and memory among others. The higher you score, the better our phone's performance has been rated.
Some of the things that affect your rating are: the number of apps that are running, overclock or clocking of CPU, and available memory.
You phone could misbehave from time to time so the results may vary...

xperia play quadrant & linpack scores

hey guys,
i currently own the x10 and have been into rooting and custom roms since i first heard about XDA
now i have ordered my xperia play and it should arrive this wk sometime hopefully wednesday.
i was just wondering what quad & linpack scores ppl were getting on the play compared to my x10
cheers guys
for linpack I got 36.45 MFLOPS at 2.3 sec with precision: 2.22E-16
also for SE sdcard write: 8MB and read: 22MB (this after using sd speed increase, without is %15 less)

Around 1800
Quadrant Advanced
CPU: 5902
Mem: 1542
IO: 686
2D: 241
3D: 604
Quadrant needs to be updated too much emphasis on CPU & IO.

ok thanks,
i just did linpack on my x10 and got 34.771
and on quadrant i got 1551 (2nd run)
im running 2.2.1 miui on stock kernel
thought the play would blow it out the water but i suppose the proof is in the gaming and not just benchmark scores

Agree, and the gaming is excellent BackStab, Nova 2 & Asphalt 6 are my current favourites
The Samsung Galaxy S2 & other dual core phones with all their CPU & GPU grunt are pointless for gaming without proper gaming controls IMHO.

true, all the power in the world cant make up for touch screen gaming
an average powered phone with proper gaming controls will, in my opinion, always beat it

yes a very good point
i used to use the wii BT controller to play my emulator/games with,
and that was a pain in the ass cuz u needed to
1 rest your phone on summat then hold the wii controller. or
2 like wot i nearly did is to make a holder at work that holds both the phone plus
the controller.
no need for that anymore.. roll on wednesday when my XP arrives
by the way, I did the benchmarks when I was rooted, not sure if it makes a difference. after using it for a month, I would say it is perrty nice, never noticed a lag (even with the time scape thing), emulators (FSPE & N64droid) and GameLoft HD games work on it like a charm. battery is amazing even for games (+ you can get the BB extra charger since they have the same usb).
I really think it is the best phone for me:
-game controls
-Gingerbread
-unlocked bootloader
-one click root
-best Android devices in supporting national languages (helps in re-selling)
-sd card
-great battery
...etc

I know its an old thread... Just wanted to say, the power is fine and quadrant is good on custom roms and tweaks, overclocking...
stock with custom kernel around 2500
Miui 2650

1.3/1.4GHz+

I keep hearing about people running their nooks at 1.3 or 1.4 but I can't find a kernel. Any help here?
I've been a member a long time and I know that bumping your own thread is not generally accepted, however, I have reason to believe that this device can bump WAY past the current speeds. For one, I have read articles claiming 2800 on Quad at 1.3 and that 1.4 kernels were being worked on and two - even under the HEAVIEST load, while charging no less, my phone hits 38C on the battery. My brand spanking new Sensation hits 47C when its charging and being used!
While it IS possable to overclock to 1.3+ ghz, it is not usually advised. I run CM7 7.1 rc1 and have dalengrins overclock rom dated 06/18 it has been my experience that speeds over 1.2 ghz reduce the stability of the nook and can cause strange behaviour. My quadrant scores at the above mentioned 1.2 average between 2550 and 2875. Considering these scores are almost 3 times the score of a stock rooted nook, I have no problem with the speed. The only time my nook reaches those speeds is when I am playing games from the tegrazone areas. Currently, I have 3 "tegra only" games running quite well. For a 7 inch e-reader, I believe that is acceptable.

I thank you for the response and I understand your concern, however, I have been able to undervolt an extra 100mV off of the voltage at 1200MHz with 15 runs of Quadrant and no freezing and would like to use the wiggle room that I have. I undervolted by 200mV and ended up running 6 before it froze so obviously this is one of the better chips as far as overclocking.
That said, it beats my Sensation's 1.2GHz out of the box which says a lot. My Sensation at 1.2GHz is about 1900 and I feel this processor can go farther.
We also need new drivers for the SGX530. There is NO reason why it should be running 9 FPS average at stock AND overclocked on the simplest bench on Quad (the planet and moon test which fragments and everything).
I'm about to pay for Chainfire's app so that I can see if Pinball 3D will run on here... if it does and its smoother than on my G2x which HAS a Tegra and misses my input a LOT then I will be more than happy.
Its really more for bragging rights than anything to have this thing clocked clock-for-clock with the new gen "dualcores" and have it whip their asses honestly LOL

how about your quadrant score when you use 2.3.x?

I installed CM7 with DSC Phoenix test2,overclock to 1344MHz.
when I bench with Quadrant Advanced ver2.1, my score is >1300 to 1400.
It's lower than my old milestone 1 (with CPU 600 MHz Cortex-A8 and GPU PowerVR SGX530, overclock to 1,1Ghz). quadrant score of milestone1 is > 1700. I dont know why?
And this morning I tested with HTC Incredible S of my friend (CPU 1 GHz Scorpion
and GPU Adreno 205, ICS rom without overclock). Score is > 1900.
Is my streak weak? I cant believe streak5 is slower than milestone1 and HTC Incredible S.
how about you?
I think many on here will agree with me when I say forget about the benchmark scores. They largely mean nothing as it relates to real world performance and you can drive yourself crazy trying to tweak your phone to death to increase the numbers. With that being said, the performance hit is likely in the file i/o section.
As normal user and not a programmer, I dont understand about the file i/o section. But thanks you, Lordmorphous. So I'll forget foolish scores, what a stupid app =))
File I/O = File input and output, which in simpler language is the act of reading and writing to the MicroSD cards.
Quadrant and other such benchmark tools are fun to run, but they don't mean much. To properly test a device requires a benchmark program like Futuremark's PCMark, which includes real-world applications and simulates real-world usage. There is no such benchmark app for Android however.
though, if you guys notice the benchmark for the quadrant advance 2.x, the i/o score for our DS5 does a bit low compared to others but... well you know, it just numbers... nothing more.. nothing less...
however, cpu power does have the impact when overclocked, for let say using default cpu speed of 1ghz, software decoding is a bit slow compared to overclocked 1.2ghz...
just my 2 cents
