[Q] Change phone Band from USA to EURO - Atrix 4G General

I bought an Atrix in the USA but I'm living in the Netherlands. I was able to unlock my phone with an unlock code from AT&T, however the internet is not working. Calls can be made and H+ shows in the upper right corner but no connection.
After some research (*#*#4636#*#*), I saw that the band was USA and no other selection option were possible.
My question: can the band be changed to EURO in order to make the phone usable?

Have you entered your porvider apn?
I bought mine in the US too and i created a new APN with my provider settings and it works fine.

Yes, I have entered the APN settings and verified them with Vodafone. Problem seems to really be located in the bands used.

vodafone netherlands runs on 900 band and the atrix supports this automatically, you cannot change the band. if the phone is seeing the H+ then it already recognize your network you just have to make sure you use the right apn and have data enabled in your settings. also make sure there is a green circle next to your apn name, this enables the apn.

You may have not activated CDMA in * # * # 4636 # * # * (Phoneinfo) you need to make GSM Auto (PRL)
(CDMA is only U.S. Baseband) in Europe we have WCDMA

wcdma is 3g in north america. ive been using wcdma only setting to stop my phone from going to edge

Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Mobile networks
Change the "Select network" to automatic if it's not already.

download apn internet on off =)...its work for me ....

AT&T uses WCDMA as well.
We don't use CDMA, that's Verizon.
EDIT: dLo beat me to it.

Still no luck...
1. WCDMA selected as preferred network type.
2. APN triple checked and activated.
3. H+ showing in upper-right corner.
4. Enabled roaming in the data manager to make sure this wasn't blocking anything.
5. Tried SIM in HTC Wildfire with same APN and network settings => WORKING
Any more ideas on what is blocking my internet?? :S

It seems that putting the Atrix on WCDMA preferred is not working, it will automatically switch back to GSM....

I still believe the fault is located in the inability to set the bands to EURO or even automatically. You can only select USA here... If there is anyone who knows how to change this, maybe give a direct command to the modem, I will express my gratitude using paypal

Did you activate the phone in the US? like did you put in AT&T SIM and turn it on? I had the same problem with my phone when I activated it in us, i'm waiting on a new one that has not been activated in US.

I unlocked the phone in the Netherlands with a Vodafone SIM. Tried using a SIM from a different provider just now: T-Mobile = working!
Now I have to figure out what the difference between T-Mobile & Vodafone is.... Any ideas?

I have none, sorry... I use O2 here in Germany without problems. Unlocked in US. Activated and used a US (AT&T prepaid) SIM for a while before coming here, too.
What I HAVE learned (the hard way) is that different SIMs FROM O2 will have different APNs. I.e., O2 prepaid options have different APNs than their contracts.
My network type is GSM auto (PRL) and I don't have problems going G->H+

Hum....maybe getting a replacement phone wont help me then. Oh well its on its way already.

I looked into the APN differences but the one I used was the correct one, so that can't be the problem.
Had a long conversation with Vodafone yesterday. When they finally connected me through with an engineer this guy managed to explain it to me in this way: Vodafone has policies on what phones can be used to access their network, different models need to be accepted individually. Sometimes changes need to be made on the network. According to him this was the reason my Atrix has no internet connectivity in The Netherlands, the phone hasn't been released here and the network hasn't been tested with it.
Thing that I find strange is the fact that other providers in The Netherlands have no problem with internet on the Atrix...

[Q] Compatibility with Canadian Network

Hello
I am in Canada for 2 weeks and found my blackstone with eurpeen SIM (SFR) is unable to to find /connect to any local provider.
I bought a new SIM from ROGERS, but this niether did not work.
My question, is the Blackstone compatible with Canadian network?
Thanks for helps
Yes, it should be fine. SFR will roam onto Microcell or Rogers in Canada - a PDF guide to roaming on SFR including coverage is at
http://docs.sfr.fr/guide/Guide_de_Voyage_SFR.pdf
Make sure your band setting in phone options is set to Auto or GSM1900+850. It might have defaulted to GSM900+1800 which won't work in Canada.

[Q] How to Unlock my mobile network settings?

Hi,
I recently bought a HTC Surround (AT&T), im from Costa Rica and we don't have AT&T as a carrier.
The phone works great with the GSM band but when i try to look for any 3G settings (using 850Mhz band) i cant find any options.
According to an article in the internet (i cant post any links yet) there should be an option called "Mobile Network" where i can turn the 3G on or off, so im guessing AT&T disabled the option (phone doesn't have any 3G sign on the sign bar at the top just the antenna bars).
Is there any way to Unlock the 3G options on this phone?
Thank you.
Help me out a little with your request. The place to turn on/off data is under cellular in the settings page. However, I haven't found "Mobile Network" on mine. However, I did download HTC Connection Setup which allowed the phone to search for various carriers and automatically set up the connections. That program is in Marketplace under HTC apps.
BTW, is your phone SIM unlocked?
Thank you for answering ...Sure ill help you with what ever you need... we might be able to narrow down my problem... lets see
1. HTC connection: yea i tried the app actually i have it installed on my phone but its giving me a message saying "Carrier doesnt exist in the data base" that i need to go a create apn (isnt that for phone internet). so i cant use the application, our carrier here is called I.C.E.
2.The band Costa Rica is using for 3G is the 850MHz. my SIM card is linked to a GSM account (1900 MHz) but the phone should be able to recognize the band tho, isnt that right?
3.how do i know if my phone is sim lock? i just placed my GSM SIM card inside and its working, do i need to try with a different card?
4. how does 3G works in this phone? is it configurable?
I'm pretty sure you are going to have to configure an APN for it to use 3G. As for band switching, I don't think it's possible with the current interface (at least on AT&T). Perhaps there are some registry entries that we will soon be able to access when some of the WP7 developers make headway, but right now, there is nothing of which I'm aware. If you can call on your network, the phone is already SIM unlocked, so no need to worry there.
I found some nice info about switching 3G or 2G etc... which it helps but i think it didnt work on mine.
Does anyone know how to set the HD7 (or surround) to 3G only?
Dialer> ##3282# Call > Settings > 3G only.
But in my case what i saw after that was that all the antenna bars were gone and then it went into no service then picked up signal again. After checking the settings after dialing again it was set to automatic again and if a switch it to 3G only it does the same thing again.
So im guessing it didnt work, ill try to talk to my carrier and see if we can create an APN to handle the 3G.
Is there a chance that the 3G feature is locked by AT&T?
Thanks for all your help if by any chance you find out something else i will appreciate the help.
Well apparently i got it fixed my phone seems to be working on 3G right now, i have the 3G sign on the top bar.
To make the story short.
I just configured my internet, added the roaming options and then tried again ##3282# only 3G and it worked now its showing 3G next to the antenna bars.
Thank you jwzg for your help.
Can not change the language

No, you don't have to do any special configuration. I think TMobile bands for 3G are different frequencies from ATT, so sadly, I think you are never going to be able to have 3G connection on your Surround while you are on TMobile. Regards.

Updated to mango a few days ago, didn't tried without mango.
I guess is oem unlocked, no AT&T or t-mobile branding or apps related or nothing.
I'm in a carrier on Costa Rica, they use here HSDPA 850mhz, ALSO tried a wp7 samsung focus at&t branded but unlocked and it GETS 3G and high speed internet with my sim!!! please help!!
Which dell venuo pro do you have. Do you have the ATT or the TMO version? TMO isn't going to work with your provider.
How do I know that? I don´t see anything on the hardware or software related to AT&T or T-mobile or any else, its oem unlocked I guess.
I got and app called "System View" it says under hardware/network/ 2G GSM 850/900/1800/1900, 3G HSDPA 850/1900/2100
I must be missing something
could it be a defective unit??

If you see TMO on that screen you likely have a Tmobile version of the phone and it is not compatible with your carrier. The ATT version is what you wanted.
yes I have the TMO option, and I thought every dvp has the TMO option on the EM. Now I feel ripped off with this phone, are you sure just Tmobile has TMO option on EM?
If the answer is yes then, I'm selling my DVP, someone needing one?
Thanks for your time by the way.
Ever since I upgraded to Mango I haven't had 3g either. It has no 3g APN settings at all. Does anybody have those settings?

So I just did this and it does say TMO. This phone was purchased through AT&T though. I wasn't the person who it was through but it was purchased from AT&T. Does that just mean I'm screwed? Before I upgraded to Mango, it would sometimes go to 3g but only for a little bit then switch right back.
Hmm well I was wrong. My Bad.
Well can somebody post their AT&T 3g APN settings?
I always search APNs names for Costa RIcan provider on google,
For at&t I found this:
APN_______________User Name___________________________Password
wap.cingular [email protected]_________________cingular1
[email protected]_____________________cingular1
Custom____________ APN-specific_______________________ APN-specific
http://developer.att.com/developer/forward.jsp?passedItemId=1700008
But still, I have my APN configured, and I'm not getting 3G, how is that "System Info" app gets that bands information?, its the only source I have, and even it says 850mhz for hsdpa I can't get it to work here.
That doesn't match the fields my phone has. These are the fields
APN
User name
Password
Proxy server/URL
Proxy port
I just use APN in CR, no user or password, neither proxy.
So I got tired of trying to figure this out, so I deleted the APN completely (which had a scary warning). Instantly after that I got an "H" at the top. The speed difference is noticeable already. Maybe after I leave work it'll go to 3G. We'll see. But one things for sure. The settings it had after that update were holding it back.
I'm having same issue w/ T-Mobile's DVP on T-Mobile's network.
I'm using Simple Mobile which uses T-Mobile's Network & I can't seem to get the 3G Data to work.
Any advice on Fixing this or config. setting I need to input? The Phone is Unlock BTW.
I've tried restoring to nodo from mango official, hard reset the phone twice also, nothing, the only difference now is that the intro pic to the EM app was a cup, now is a dog ?

Won't work with a non-US SIM?

I've been banging my head against the wall all day with this one and am pretty close to throwing my 6P out the window of the place I'm staying right now
My 6P is normally on the Verizon network, but I'm traveling to Italy for a bit so I grabbed a local carrier's SIM (TIM, doubt it matters), and my 6P refuses to connect to their mobile network - as in, no signal ever, emergency calls only. I put the same SIM in my friend's iPhone here and it works fine. I also put it in an LG G4 here and it was at least able to pick up a signal.
Here's what I've tried so far, unsuccessfully of course:
* "Reset network settings"
* Selected TIM in the network provider screen. I get the extremely unhelpful "No Service: Selected Network (I TIM) is unavailable" and "try again later"
* Selected Automatic in the network provider screen.
* Switched between 2G/3G/4G for the above two steps.
* Changing network bands in *#*#4636#*#*
* After doing more research on the bands problem, resetting them via the advice I found here and more importantly, here - I changed it back to Automatic band selection. Tried Euro too for fun, and it didn't work either.
* Factory reset on the latest 6.0.1 build
* Flashed N preview, did a factory reset
I know for a fact that the 6P supports the correct bands via this Wikipedia page. I took a quick look at the logcat and didn't see anything interesting, if anyone thinks it would be useful I can post it here.
What gives? Is my device hosed? Anyone have other ideas on what to try? Thanks!

I’m not sure about Italy but our n6p will work with non-US Sim. I just got back from China and Hong Kong and was using my USA Project Fi and two local carriers (3 and China Mobile) without any problems. Your issues may be carrier base. I did have some drop calls with the carrier 3 in Hong Kong and the set up with 3 was not as easy as China Mobile. I had the carrier 3 Sim installed at the carrier 3 store. But China Mobile installed just fine all by itself automatically as soon as I installed the Sim. You may want to have the local carrier TIM, take a look, I bet its something in the settings with the local carrier TIM.
Good Luck.

Yeah, I thought in general that it should work. Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to be able to go into a TIM shop since we're not near one and I doubt I could communicate the issue effectively given my broken Italian... thanks though!
Well, to anyone unlucky enough to have this same problem... I've made some progress! Of the two TIM SIMs we have, one seems to be enabled for 4G access while the other will only connect to 3G - not sure if this is by design or not. I put the 4G-enabled SIM in my N6P, wiped, and rebooted to Chroma and everything worked before even selecting "Automatic".
I tried putting the 3G-only SIM back in - back to no signal. I wonder if the band selection thing isn't working properly? My impression is that it's a 3G only setting and doesn't affect LTE connections, but I could be wrong. I am fairly sure the N6P supports the 2G/3G bands TIM uses around here...
If anyone has a clue on how to make a guide like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-e8/help/signal-selecting-usa-band-4636-menu-t3091439 for the N6P that'd be awesome... not sure I will have time to experiment myself while in the area where it will matter.
Verified that data is still working after restoring my backup too. Calling / SMS seems completely busted though - calls get stuck at "dialing" and SMS messages just seem to disappear.
Any more advice would be appreciated
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app

WAS-AL00 originally on China Mobile – gets only 2G speeds in the USA – what gives?

After unlocking the phone everything works just fine, including all the Google services (hooray!), but it gets only 2G speeds on T-Mobile LTE network in the USA (4G setting in the phone is enabled).
The APN is T-Mobile US LTE. However, if I go to Settings > Mobile Data > click cog on top right > Data plan settings it shows the phone carrier still as China Mobile in Beijing.
Does this mean that the SIM is locked to China Mobile only? If yes, why is the phone working, although at 2G speeds only?
Is there a way to make sure the phone is SIM locked? I’d like to avoid spending $30+ for an unlock code to find out it’s still not working.
If you have the correct APN settings I think it's the basebands using different frequencies that are not compatible with the p10 lite.
