Sense 3.0 - Galaxy S II General

Do you think custom ROMs will allow us to have HTC's Sense UI 3.0 on this phone?

Oh... boy... here we go.. i admire you for having the balls to ask about Sense UI in Samsung thread. Hehe. Short answer is NO!!!

You never know.. The original SGS has turned out a terrific developers phone so if the SGS2 has unlocked bootloaders i cant see why not
If htc sense is that important though just wait from the sensation

I'd love to have it, with the recent reports showing the horsepower that it have coupled with Sense 3.0 that would be the perfect phone to have

If people want the HTC Sense experience then they should look at a HTC Phone. Although a Port is possible, its very time consuming and by the time someone actually port's it over with all the drivers working, your device will be close to the yearly refresh and you will want the next best thing. This will leave the developer in a limbo where his efforts didnt truly pay off.

It's not possible, Galaxy S is half baked, Nexus S also try, half baked. Samsung uses totally different structure on android Nexus S can't even port TouchWiz and its the same manufacturer. I would love to get S II spec wise it blows the Sensation out.

I see you have a Motorola Atrix 4G. What do you think about it? I'm in doubt between Atrix, S II and Sensation.
Thank you!

Ugh, how can people even like Sense. It is the worst android UI out of all the custom ones out there.

Id say its all about taste. Personally I think motorola's UI is the worst, followed closely by the apple wannabe touchwiz. Funny, I actually hated sense as well at first, but now that im using it for a while, I LOVE IT.
Also, its because htc has added soooo much functionality, like finding/wiping/ringing from anywhere(laptop) incase its lost, or stolen, etc. Plus auto-backup of messages, apprx 100 very useful widgets, plus may apps wich save you a lot of time if you had to download one by one. Basically, its a complete package that looks good and offers functionality that no other manufacturer can even come close to, especially being built in from start. no headaches. I myself wish it could be ported but I doubt, especially with how "involved" its gotten lately

I had a Galaxy S, then Atrix and now Inspire. Next I'm buying Galaxy S II because the bootlogger is unlocked and I want the light weight, dual core processor power and video enhancements.
The Inspire is amazing. I like it far better than the Atrix because I can put custom roms on it. I was able to root the Atrix and do a few modifications but it was very limited. I strongly recommend the Inspire.
The Sensation is locked down as is the Atrix. If you want a good out of the box phone Atrix is as good as you get until the Galaxy S II arrives. Sensation will be great but probably about the same as the Galaxy S II.
It is hard to recommend a phone without knowing what you do with your phone. For me the unlocked boot logger is the difference between buying and not buying.

Personally I prefer Sense.I think that Samsung have basically copied the iPhone in design and UI. If someone could remove the native Samsung bloat and add sense, all would be good in the world(for me at least)

Couldn't have put it better, dude. trouble is, can we have the best of both worlds?
Sent from my RafDroidHD using Tapatalk

I think we can. If enough people that have bought a SGS2 ask for sense then I am sure someone(developer) will be willing to design it for SGS2. From what I have seen of custom roms so far, I think that there are some more than capable developers out there that could do it. If I could write code I definitely would(perhaps I should start learning. The only question is can an old dog(me) learn new tricks?????)

it consists of lots of new widgets ,icons and animations specially.....
and its gingerbread......
lets see how much time it takes for the porting of sensation rom to nexus one.

great...
I hope someone can port it to our n1
Here's an easier download, the chinese one isn't the easiest to navigate.

I'll try to get it booting tomorrow, just for the sake of seeing that beautiful lookscreen of Sense 3.0 in action.
I'll post my results.
i love my nexus as much as anyone, but folks, it's time to get a new phone if you want dev results. nobody cares about it now, and with the sensation, g2x ,etc coming out, it's going to be further in the dust. i may keep it just as a token of the first great android phone, or i may sell it, but the sensation is my next phone.
this rom dump is f'n HUGE lol look at that file size, i don't think it could ever make it onto the n1, and if it did it'd probably be slow as dirt.

Actually sense is already ported to the NS. Where have you been? Isn't the NS a dev phone? Isn't Android open source? What's wrong with variety? You act like if SENSE, TOUCHWIZ or Blur roms are ported you wouldn't try it. If you don't like SENSE then you shouldn't of opened my post. Its not like the title didn't speak for itself. Thanks.

I agree with the pure google experience part but honestly, if somebody puts their efforts into porting sense and creating another rom for the development section.
I don't see the harm of having another rom. Ns dev needs more roms. If you don't like it, don't use it. Android is filled with open customization.

Thank you for this statement. We need more variety! What's wrong with choices? People change their minds all the time. We all know we would at least try a sense, touchwiz, etc port if it became available. That doesn't mean we would use it as a daily driver, but its nice to know if you want a different rom one week or the next you can switch.

Ok so here we go,I plan on getting a new phone with Tmobile. gonna give this one to my mom, as a Christmas gift (lame I know). It's either the galaxy s2, the sensation or the amaze. What are yall views, ofcourse Ima root it.
From my fist to your face, enjoy!
Galaxy S II !!! imma a fanboy lol
MyTouch HD (Black)
Kernel demonspeed v7
lagfree 1516Ghz - 768Mhz
Edited Build Prop
Beats Audio
Gingerbread 2.3.5
Dark Side Sense 3.3 !
Sensation.
It's a hell of a lot cheaper than the Amaze and the specs are only marginally weaker.
And you have way better dev support so you'll have the best ROM's.
With the SGS2 you're stuck with Samsung providing you with updates.
HTC SENSATION ALL THE WAY MAN!!!
wayyy better development, i don't know how many times better than the Galaxy SII, and doesn't lose to the HTC Amaze one bit (well, maybe a little...). plus, it's cheaper
price isnt a problem with me, i make almost 300 a week. i do like the sensation, amazing dev section. the s2 stats are very impressive, while the amaze's camera options are pretty cool.
I have the s4g and love it. Overclocked to 1.5 and I got the amaze cam mod so this phone is just as good as thee amaze. But on the other hand is the sgs2 nice phone but I don't like the whole samsung ui. I like sense. That is all on opinion though. The s4g is cheaper than the other two and im sure we will see ics.

I've been stuck between sgs2 and amaze myself. But I am leaning amaze because of the resolution difference.
You should go to both sections and read on the vs threads they have. Some are biased but they give you good points of view on both. I think it usually ends up with...
Resolution, ui, screen, and build. speed is virtually the same. I think both parties don't bother with sensation anymore as many of them actually upgraded from it.

[Q] Who else would love a Sense port ROM?

Before I say anything, Devs please do not see this as a request or as demanding in ANY way. You all do fantastic work and really make this device shine. Anyways... I was wondering if anyone else wishes there was a Sense based port. With the DNA being so close relativity in specs, I am sort of surprised there has not been any talk of a port. This is simply to see who else would like to see a port and if there is any interest in one. I am absolutley not a developer and could not create a ROM to save my life, I'm just a lowly power user lol.
I would much rather have Sense 5(when it comes out) since it's newer and looks cleaner.
No way. Honestly, no offense but if you like Sense then you should have gotten an HTC device.
I also disagree about it being cleaner. Stock a android is just beautiful.

I would also like to see a sense rom, it would be cool to be able to have one phone that could run any ui. We already have Motorola blur, why not HTC sense, and touchwiz. If you don't like it you don't have to flash it. I love the nexus line of hardware and aosp, but for flashaholics like me, the more ROMs available the better off I am. I wish I could build ROMs but I don't even know where to start. I would definitely donate to any dev that could build a stable sense ROM.

I don't have the time to learn how to build ROMs. My wife stays on my case as it is, and all I do is flash a ROM and set it up the way I want it. I go to work to make money so I can pay someone to do all the things that I don't want to do and the things I don't know how to do. I have one set of skills and you probably have a different set of skills in your line of work. I don't know anybody who knows how to do everything. This is why I said that I would donate to a dev who comes up with a sense ROM.

Basically, in my opinion at least, any Sense ROM that was not a kang of a ROM shipped by HTC for the Vision has a bunch of bugs and oddities and things that just don't work nicely. And the Vision has one the best developers community that I have seen around. You still get CM 10.1 nightlies uover there even as the last update from HTC was GB back in 2010.
So... while I support having choices, thus would welcome any Sense ROM for the N4, I actually don't think it's a good idea to try.

I would like to try Sense 5. I wouldn't use it as my daily driver. But I'm definitely not opposed to having more options.
I bought this phone so that I could escape things like Sense and Touchwiz... It would seem counterproductive to me to put it on this phone?

And I bought it for the amazing Dev community. The great thing about a ROM is you can choose not to flash it. Isn't it better to have the option?

Now I understand...You see they feel obligated to try something they don't want, fascinating, isn't it?

I would love to contribute but I'm a student and don't have a credit card... Therefore no PayPal. Stupid teenager problems!

Maybe, wait for sense 5 it's going to be much lighter than before, it might be easier to port.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Sense is a GIANT turd. It's the main reason I got rid of my One X+.
I found sense to actually be pretty good on the one x after ripping all the crap out. Heck I'd be happy just to have the sense camera. Half the people crying probably haven't even tried it.
