Facebook app update released!! - Bada Software Development

Yesterday samsung released facebook app update for bada. Now its much smoother and chat also added..i just want to share the info..sorry if its already posted..
BTW i am from india..not sure about other countries..

Nice to see that all this talk of getting rid of bada in favor of android is forcing Samsung's hand on improving some of badas more obvious flaws, may i suggest that Samsung do this with all of their apps in future and keep things fresh?

yes right..when we got social hub hacked version samsung announced social hub free for users then when they heard android working on wave, they released update for facebook..maybe we will get leaked version of 2.0 when we get alpha version ready.:

Model Release Form App for android idea

I wanted to put this idea of a model release form application up in hope some developer will see the need for this app for the android. They have several of them for the iphone and very useful. There are quite a few photographers out there with androids that would buy an app like this. I have even thought of getting a iphone just for the application.
The best one out there for the iphone is called easy release and I have used it on a friends iphone and it does make getting a model to sign the contract really easy and especially good to have on the fly if you you need to snap a picture and you want to get a release and not have your forms on you.
Sean
I concur. As a photographer and Android user I could really use an application that would allow me to have a model sign a release form electronicaly on my htc hero.
It would be cool if one could link a flickr photograph to this form.
I'm attaching a sample form.
Looks likes easy release that makes the app for the iphone has already developed one for the android and its in beta test right now. I am testing the application right now and its a great app. The signature parts is very smooth and you can get real look signatures. Very impressed.
Just go to their facebook page (easy release) and they are looking for more beta testers

The Android version of Easy Release is now available in the Android Market
The Android version of Easy Release is now available in the Android Market
The new and updated version of Model Release Pal for Android was just released today.
And it's free
"Release Lackey" is now in beta...
I recently released an app on the market for creating model releases as well as other relatively simple legal documents... while it is in "beta" it sells for only 99 cents. The beta period is expected to last for another 4 weeks (until June 13, 2011) or until I'm confident there aren't any strange issues with any of the many Android devices out there.
Search for "Release Lackey" on the Android Market or go to LackeySoft.com with your PC and click on Release Lackey to learn more...
At least while it is in beta I promise refunds for anyone who purchases it and decides it is not for them within 48 hours. Just "email the developer" and I'll give a manual refund through Google Checkout.
I'm always looking for feedback, thanks in advance

android 2.2 on the way according to some intell

not my artical just found it orig web page

Android 2.2 is coming. What features do you want?
By Taylor Wimberly on Apr 20267
The majority of Android phones are still running an outdated firmware, but that hasn’t slowed Google from advancing their mobile operating system. Everyone knows the next version of Android (codenamed Froyo) is on the way and the rumors (1, 2) are beginning to pick up that the Nexus One will receive it soon.
Based on the data from our analytics reports it appears Google has already begun testing on their next firmware – Android 2.2. Google engineers have routinely given codenames to future builds of Android (Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, etc.), but they don’t receive a point release till they are finalized and nearing distribution.
We have shared this reporting data before and people are always quick to point out that it can be easily faked, but I have spoke with additional sources familiar with the matter who confirmed Android 2.2 is currently being tested.
The feature set for Android 2.2 was frozen long ago, but it remains mostly unknown. Google decided last year that they would no longer publish public roadmaps for future versions of Android. Based on the information we can gather, it appears Android 2.2 will mainly focus on performance enhancements.
Some of the rumored features for Android 2.2 include:
•JIT compiler
•Free additional RAM
•OpenGL ES 2.0 enhancements
•Flash 10.1 support
•Fixed problem with “crazy screen” / Resolution of cross multitouch
•Activation of Color Trackball
•Enable FM radio
Some of these features are plausible and others we have no clue.
The JIT compiler has already been confirmed by Google and we expect to find out new details during Google I/O. Android engineers will be leading a discussion that informs devs how to test and tune their apps to work with the new compiler.
Additional free RAM should come thanks to the new Linux kernel being used in Froyo. Google is moving from 2.6.29 to the newer 2.6.32 which makes it possible to address the extra RAM. This has already been done in custom ROMs like CyanogenMod so expect this feature for sure.
I’m no expert on OpenGL, but it has long been rumored that Froyo (or a future build) will add new APIs to the Android NDK which will let Java devs have full access to the OpenGL ES 2.0 library.
Flash 10.1 is coming in the first half of the year. It is entirely possible it could be tied to a future Android firmware and be included with an OTA update.
We have already addressed the HTC touch sensor issues. It sounds like a future software update could be used to clean this up a little.
Multicolor trackball notifications are definitely coming. Android hackers like ChainsDD have already unlocked this feature for users of custom ROMs. Google advertised the multicolor trackball during its launch of the Nexus One, but the feature was cut from the final Android 2.1 build.
When it comes to the FM radio, I have no idea. Other HTC phones on a similar Snapdragon platform (Desire and Incredible) include the FM radio so it’s not out of the question that the N1 has it too.
I spoke with Google’s Eric Tseng during CES and he told me there were many secrets left in the Nexus One that we would discover later.
When is it Android 2.2 coming out?
Circle May 19th on your calendar. This is the opening day of Google I/O and I’m anticipating the release of Android 2.2 (and maybe the Flash 10.1 beta) will be tied to this event. Google has provided every developer attending the event a free Droid or Nexus One, so it is possible to see a simultaneous release on both devices.
I’m really curious how first generation devices are going to play with this release. We are expecting most phones to receive Android 2.1 this month, so it will be interesting to see how Froyo fits in. Some of the Android engineers have been talking about Froyo on the Google boards and it is unclear if the HTC Dream and Magic will be able to support it since they only have 192 MB of RAM.
p.s. if in wrong spot please move it im a tootal newb

Honeycomb update

Does anyone know whether the update the SD card will be similar to the flash update, that is fix only one bug/feature or is it supposed to be more comprehensive kinda of like a service pack for windows ( address stability, add some moderate features, etc).
Given the wait I am hoping for the latter.
Also is the reason that there aren't more apps optomized for honeycomb is that source code has not been released? If that is the case why have some apps like quickoffice HD been able to be optimized for homeycomb?
Pardon my ignorance I just became an android convert (phone-samsung epic 4g and tablet)

No one knows how the update is going to be. The honeycomb SDK is what they use to build apps, and it has been out for a while now.
although some devs seem to be waiting for the source code still
I expect it will be a fairly big update, but not like 'a service pack' with LOADS of new features, probably just more a lot more bug fixes than just one SD fix...
I also imagine that some devs may be waiting a bit to see if tablet-specific apps catch on - and/or some may develop a new 'tablet edition' app rather than just tweaking old ones to run on Honeycomb... ?
Personally I am more disappointed with the bigger companies like BBC that haven't got iPlayer running on honeycomb!
What's weird is when I talk to some of the devs of paid apps they usually say want to do a honeycomb optimized version but need the source code. As was mentioned above the sdk was released in january so I don't really understand what they mean waiting for the source code.
Cnn does a fully optimized version, its pretty good. I know its not the bbc, but the cnn international isn't bad [that's what I watch when I visit my family in peru]. More similar to bbc style of reporting.
Well here's hoping for a honeycomb update so and more apps!

I know its off topic, but you don't need an app for bbc/Iplayer. Just watch it in the browser, isn't that the great thing about a xooom, you don't need lots of apps.....

This is true - but it is nice to have optimised HC apps like YouTube - looks great in the app

App development contest $100000 in cash

I found this today:
http://developer.bada.com/events/bada2.0-Power-App-Race?rlWlfcp=duq&isReturn=Y
and I thought that it is a great idea of Samsung to do that because money is of course a huge motivation factor to develop apps.
Contest runs from the 18th of October til the 31st of December.
First 10 developers who develop an App and put it on Samsung Apps will get a chance to win $100000 if their App will be downloaded 100000 times in the above called time-range. The App has to be developed with the bada SDK 2.0 tool (or above).
For further information visit the link above.
So please all of the great devs who are around here please develop great apps for Bada because it is Bada`s biggest problem to have a lack of useful apps but I like Samsung`s approach to this kind of problem, they are really trying to push their OS higher and higher.
I hate the idea of that contest and i announce it from now
We (Team VEA) are not going to enter that challenge because we are not sure if bada users will make 100,000 downloads of Voluntas in that short time
it is contest for games in our eyes not apps
Best Regards
If they wouldn't be sure of this, they wouldn't have set the download numbers so high
There are many millions of Bada handhelds, so I don't think that would be the problem

if Voluntas works well and will be uploaded gratis on the market I think it'll reach 100'000 download in about 10 days or minus.
However I also don't like this type of contest, the download counter could be increased with some stupid tricks.

It is also kind of weird that Samsung starts a Bada 2.0 contest when Bada 2.0 isn`t even officially released yet. I mean devs have to test the developed App on the device itself before putting it up on Samsung Apps (or am I wrong here?), so Samsung insists that developers who already start to develop an app do early testing of their app on a Beta Firmware, which isn`t the best thing to do I guess.
I don`t know if this is a smart move from Samsung starting a contest when the main firmware for it isn`t even out yet...

The FB phone hype ends

“It gave it (Facebook) this soul… We don’t want to build a phone or operating system that some people will use,” he says. “Even if we did build a really good phone we’d only serve 1% of our community… We’re not building a phone. We’re not building an operating system.”
Android is very open, Zuck says, so you can make many changes to it. “You don’t need to fork Android to do this… Today we’re going to talk about the Home Screen of your phone.”
