[Q]Reverting back to stock rom - Blade General

I know that san francisco has got 2.1 eclair rom which is relatively slow compared to froyo. I mean really slow + froyo allows the user to install apps on sd which is a big advantage when you only got 1xx mb internal memory. So i would like to ask that is there a way to revert back to official rom (2.1) when the official update comes or once you install custom 2.2 rom, there's no turning back.
I used to own other android phones and what i know is that some roms are non downgradable, is it the same case with san franciscon? or you can just flash 2.1 official rom over 2.2 custom rom whenever you want? or do you have to keep nand backup and all that?
EDIT: my bad, please move it to general section !

Yes, you can flash 2.1 back whenever you want, unless you upgraded your phone from gen1 to gen2.

am i missing something? what's gen1 and gen2?

gen2 are phones which came with 2.2 preinstalled. You can upgrade gen1 to gen2 (there are instructions on modaco forums).

But you can't get back to GEN1 afterwards (you can but it messes IMEI up) And only a little selection of ROM's work On GEN2

*beware before downloading 2.1 rom*

just so you know in case you don't know, there is some problems with the rom and as of right now (unless i'm mistaken) there is now way to take the rom off.
And with the new possibility of rooting i saw wait for rooting your eris or just get the nexus one
The Rom works fine.
There are NO major issues with rom version 0.2 or 0.3.
And if your phone is rooted, you will probably find a new 1.5 ROM on her soon based on the original stock. So you can flash a new ROM. Assuming you are talking about the rooted 2.1 and not the leaked one.

Upgrade rooted 1.5 to 2.2

Hello there.
I'm currently having a rooted HTC Hero with the 1.5 ROM. I would like to upgrade it to the latest version for the Hero. The phone says I have one new system upgrade but I'm unable to complete the upgrade because I have a rooted phone.
So is there any XDA-guide to follow for upgrading a rooted device?
Best Regards
SH

there isn't an official upgrade to 2.2.
you could install a custom froyo rom (such as froyd villain) or upgrade to a more stable rom (such as chocolate eclair or vanilla eclair)

You're right. The official is 2.1 but how do I upgrade to that version with a hacked device?
See http://villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=375 for a guide. As you are rooted, just follow the how to flash instructions.
Instead of using the rom it mentions, which is old, flash the zip for froydvillain or whatever you want using patched recovery

HTC Dream (Rogers) - How to go back to stock?

Hey guys,
I recently rooted and flashed my Dream to run CM6, but I'm very unhappy with the delays and lag I get trying to running Adroid 2.2 on this old phone.
I wanted to go back to the stock Android, 1.5 or 1.6, can't even remember.
Just wondering if anyone had a tutorial on how to do this?
Thanks in advance
May I recommend to try something before going back to the stock rogers firmware.
Try the release of the stock mt3g firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8676013&postcount=1
(Remember the ebi1 portfile)
There are also various roms based on asop (Google's stock) 1.6 with root that you may find better than rogers stock.
Also firmwares like biffmod try to make cm6 more efficient with a good amount of success.
Otherwise if nothing works out you just reflash the e911 update http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...Branded_EBI1_Dreams#Returning_to_Stock_Rogers
Also consider trying Super D. Its a Donut ROM that has many nice features and it is very fast.

An update may be comming once it reaches 1 million views!
EBI1 Port:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8663984&postcount=996
EBI1 Ram Hack Port:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645411
(incase you don't know, this will give your phone more RAM by taking some memory away from the graphics. So don't use this if you use graphically intensive apps such as games.)
Also try playing around with swap (compcache too but turning that off has always been best for me) to try to get the best settings for you. Super D is pretty fast so the best setting might just be completely off. YMMV.

[Q] ZTE Blade GEN1 TFT 2.2 ROM --recommend

Hello,
I have Orange San Francisco branded ZTE Blade here
it is Gen1 with TFT screen.
it was bought with Android 2.1
I would like to update it to 2.2
what my requirements are:
-> android 2.2 that will work with European ZTE Blade
-> it has to be very stable and it has to work (I tried CyanogenMOD 7 on my Desire HD today and autofocus did not work, market crashed from time to time so I reverted to stock rooted 2.3.3)
-> for the reason above I prefer something that is very close to vanilla 2.2
-> should be faster than stock 2.1
any ideas what might suit my needs best?
I heard about FLB-Froyo G2 for ZTE Blade
is it good?
is it stable?
is there something better?
Thank you very much in advance
//edit:
I already rooted this Blade and installed Clockwork Recovery 4.0.1.5
OK, I tried
Swedish Spring RLS5
FLB-Froyo G2 R10b
I like Swedish Spring RLS5 very much
is there anything better?
as to 2.2, i. used to stay on Swidish Spring RLS5 for months, and I must say it's does a great ROM -stable, smooth, clean and with good battery life. deserve you a try. now I am on 2.3.
Sent from my ZTE-BLADE using XDA App
Well there are other 2.3 roms than Cyanogen. Why don't you update to Gen2? It's easy, check out Wbaw's thread here in XDA.
Japanese Jellyfish is a really decent gen1 FroYo ROM it's by Kallt_Kaffe, it's over at MoDaCo
If you want the best battery life, stick to Swedish Spring RLS5. If you want more goodies try CyanogenMod 7. But Swedish Spring is considered one of the best froyo ROMs and many prefer it to CM7.

[Q] Update from 3.1, stock, unlocked and rooted?

I would like to update to the latest stable 'acer blessed' version of android (if its worth it?) before I pass it down to juvinile delinquent #2, yah I'm one of the lucky ones, remind me to buy a lotto ticket......DOH
Currently running 3.1, stock, unlocked, rooted, CWM and would like to keep my existing programs intact, hence a no-data-wipe update folks have had the most stable experience with. Since I have been outa the loop for awhile figured it best to get some useful feedback.
Since picking up my a500, I won an ipad-16GB-retina AX5 last summer and have recently picked up a nexus-7 which im dual booting 4.2.1 and ubuntu 13.04 using MultiROM v3, freekin amazing. Needless to say, I can afford to pass down the 'sherman' which has and still is running like a champ, gotta lot of miles out of it and hopefully get alot more.
Thx.
if you upadate to Latest ICS, you will need update the bootloader to ICS Unlocked ..lots of threads on it..
if you want to stay on older bootloader and run a stock ICS rom with much removed bloatware, download and flash LightSpeed 4.8 ROM
but either ROM you flash too, you will have to wipe DATA (or it won't work correctly) (my opinion)
you data has settings for HC settings and some apps are for HC , not ICS
I suggest you make nandroid backup , so you can revert back to old, if you have to)
*** Read alot of info on NEWER ICS, you can't go back and forth real easy, (like just flashing a ROM)
Stick with newer ICS ROM and keep Newer UNLOCKED ICS Bootloader, or stay with older HC ROM and older HC bootloader... (keep the set ROM + Bootloader -the same)
almost all ICS roms will need new UNLOCKED ICS BOOTLOADER.
newest STOCK ICS version is (Acer_AV041_A500_1.054.00_WW_GEN1)
-if you go thru OTA update, you will be stuck with LOCKED ICS bootloader
