Adjust G-sensor sensitivity? - HD2 General

Hello,
I have the T-Mobile USA HD2, with the stock T-Mobile ROM 2.13 (the one that came with it, I just have not gotten around to updating it to the newer one yet).
When I first got it the G-sensor seemed to rarely work, to change the screen to landscape, etc..
I did something to make the G-sensor more sensitive, or the phone more responsive to it.
But now I find it way too responsive. The display is often going to landscape, or turning completely upside down, without me intending that, from the slightest movement of the phone.
So now I want to reduce that sensitivity.
Problem is--I cannot recall what I did before, that made it more ssnsitive--whether it was some kind of setting, or with some tweaking app, or directlly in the registry.
I cannot figure out how to lower that sensitivity now. There is a G-sensor applet in Control Panel, but that is only to calibrate it, not to adjust the sensitivity.
Can someone please tell me how to do this?
Thank you in advance.

Did you use someting like BsB Tweeks or Touch Tools to adjust the sinsativity? If it was a registry tweek you can probably find it in the "Leo Hints, Tips and Registry Tweaks"

I have BSB Tweaks , but do not recall seeing a G-Sensor sensitivity setting in it. Is there? Where?
---------
Now I just checked BSB. It has a setting for screen sensitivity, but I think that has to do with the touch screen, not the G-Sensor.

Oh sorry I thought BsB Tweeks had a G-Sensor adjuster in it to, guess that is what I get for talking about a app I only used for like 4 days then changed over to Touch Tools. I know Touch Tools has this feature in it. Did you check the thread I linked for registry tweeks?

Did I check that thread? Well, it currently has 240 pages in it! I looked through much of it--a lot of interesting and useful tweaks there!
But no, I did not see (did not read all 240 pages yet though!) a setting for responsiveness to the G-Sensor.

Ha Ha Ha I did not mean read the whole thing just the first post that contains the list of registry tweeks and how to do each one. If you did not see it in there then install Touch Tools and use it as I said I know it has the ability to change G-Sensor sensativity.

Pressure Sensitivity - Registry / other configuration available?

On My Sprint Mogul/6800, with out-of-the-box ROM (upgraded to version 3.35.651.2 (the 2/22/2008 HTC update) at the Sprint store), I'd like to increase the touch sensitivity for easier scrolling with FTouchFlo, sliding with SCLPC++, and general finger-tapping. Particularly needed since I'm using a screen protector.
Searching this forum turned up some registry edits on the Elf/Touch (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\TouchPanel\PressureThreshold) as described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360564
However, when browsing my own registry with Total Commander, I don't see the TouchPanel key (neither in HKLM\Drivers nor HKLM\Software\Drivers).
I've seen this registry setting mentioned as well:
HLKM\HARDWARE\OEM\TOUCH\CALIBRATENOTES
But I couldn't find that one either. I have HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH\CalibrationData, but that seems to contain the 5 coordinates (4 corners + center) for screen calibration, no sensitivity data.
So -- any clues on how to increase the pressure sensitivity on the 6800?
I agree I need some settings too
Well i can tell you it wont be under calibration data. that has to do with the accuracy of pinpoints on the screen, like when you recalibrate after reflashing or starting up for the first time. ill check around the registry and see if i find anything of interest.
you may just need to create the key yourself with the correct name indicated.
I've tested this out by creating the following registry keys & values:
HKLM\Drivers\TouchPanel\PressureThreshold
HKLM\Software\Drivers\TouchPanel\PressureThreshold
HKLM\Hardware\DeviceMap\Touch\CalibrateNotes
I've tried values ranging from single digits and 100's, to 50,000, to 100,000. Still no change in sensitivity either way.
Any other ideas?

Sorry about your trouble. I don't have an answer for you either. My guess is there is an inherent difference in the devices. I will try and play around with it over the weekend and see if I can come up with anything.

I believe those registries are created when the Touch Flo Cube is installed. It is mainly for cube sensitivity. If you are simply running TouchFlo, you will not find these keys.

I'm using Efrost's FTouchFlo, and Slither's SCLPC++ cube. Of course, these are clones/rewrites/whatever of the actual software on the HTC Touch, since I have the 6800/Titan/Mogul.
I got the impression that these registry entries were for general system-wide sensitivity, not just the Cube -- so I was hoping there might be something similar I could do on my device
Searching the web I found this Pdf:
Maybe it can help
I read somewhere that how you do the screen configuration affects the sensitivity. Like if you push the points hard during calibration the screen will be calibrated for hard presses (less sensitive). Light presses during calibration, light presses (more sensitive). I have always treated it this way and as far as I've been able to tell, that's how it works. I could just be nuts though =P

Interesting for Chefs!!
Have you ever noticed that the Album version of the new Roms is very laggy in sliding between the pictures when you turn your phone in landscape mode?
I found 5 min ago a solution when playing with the registry, in which the Album slides smooth in Landscape AND you can use the picture overview in Landscape.

i think it's useful for chef as it can easily be included in rom instead making us fiddle with the registry
what exactly does this improve? is it sliding between pictures when viewing full screen landscape or when the device is rotated on the photos tab?
if its the first, then it can also be accomplished by removing the entries in the Gsensor whitelist - thats how ive been doing it.
Great find.
Not only does it improve the landscape viewing, but it avoids/solves a bug in the recent HTC albums where you could confuse the sliding sequence when changing the physical position of the HD while continuing to slide.

I really like this feature to work...!!!
Thks.
Too bad it doestn't work for me. In portrait mode, the pictures slide very smooth. In landscape mode it's still choppy and slow, even with this change in the register and a softreset. I think it has something to do with the g-sensor. Is it possible to totally disable the g-sensor or at least when turning the phone in album..?
I've tried about 6 different roms and they all have this problem, i hope someone can fix this.

It's first
But the difference is, that the picture view (this where all pictures are listed in a grid) could be used in landscape mode furthermore.
With the removing of the whitelist this would be impossible!

Which version of HTCAlbum do you have? You see the version also in the Registry path were the tweak has to be added.
I tried it with Dutty Holy Grail R0 2.1 And the Album version is 3.0
And I don't have to make a soft reset... wierd...
Great discovery can you do that for the calculator and htc music
MOD EDIT
Moved to General discussion forum
i have noticed that roms with os 6.5.1 has a very fast rotation and fast scrolling in landscape mode both for pictures and music (i just check on chinehe v.2.3)
and the rotation registry value is still "1"
so, maybe the solution for slow rotation and scrolling can be found starting from here + terrorhuhn discovery
a smart guy could find it and share for us

To speed up scrolling through pics in landscape go to HKLM/Software/HTC/HTCScroll and change "velocity_factor". It's set at 10000 and I've changed it to 20000. You might want to set it to 40000 just to see the increase in speed and then back it down from there. This setting will also increase scrolling speed in, among other things, the favorites tab, internet tab, and increase scrolling through albums in the music tab while in landscape. This tweak may very well be the one in HD Tweak, I'm not sure, but whatever the case, you can set it how you like.

lol... I have had the same problem and fixed it by changing the REgistry as indicated in tap #44 of the following link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638
Hope this helps. Also other tweaks that are helpful.
I think the same thing that registry edit does is also available in cab format, in the 2nd post of THIS thread, 7th item on the list
bsb tweeks can
Yeah i also uses B&B tweaks to but I guess if you want a more precise touch you can use the reg editing.
ive used both the cab and bsbtweaks and I find bsb better. it adjusts the same reg entries, but different values.

Important Questions everyone needs to know

1. Can the sense UI be somehow positioned into landscape mode with a .cab?
2. How do you get into the registry? All visible is HKM? no HKLM files found anywhere...
3. How to search for specific threads under one phone on xda.

1. Yes, use attached cab. It will rotate the display when you rotate the phone into portrait. I only know this to be working on the HD2.
2. What registry editor are you using?
3. Navigate to the forums for that model, and any of the subforums there that apply to your question, and then use the "search this forum" button in the top right, immediately above the list of threads.
Thanks ALOT, you dont know how much this helps, also i am using RESCO for registry, but i think i found a youtube video for that. Thanks alot, if i could award you something i would, (if there is, please do tell as well) (like a thumbs up, or +karma, or whatever this site may use if any)

ok so for the landscape cab, do i need a soft reset, and would you happen to know if cookies home screen mod works with the hd2 landscape? also, how do i find this app in the start menu, when i soft reset my phone, nothing happened when i switched my phone to landscape, any ideas?
I'm afraid that I have no idea if this works or not alongside of co0kie's mod. A soft reset after running the cab should be all you needed to get the rotation working, there's no app to run (or icon for it) after that, it just runs in the background.
You can try one more soft-reset (I think mine took 2 to kick in), and I would also go into settings and calibrate your g-sensor if you haven't already.
Also...are you rotating it the right way into landscape? so that the hardware buttons end up to the right of the screen? This cab will only do the rotation in that direction, and back.
I'm afraid the only officially-sanctioned expressions of gratitude here are the ones issued by the treasury...but this small bit of assistance isn't even worth the time it would take, so your words do the job just fine Pay it forward (here at xda, if possible!)
FYI:
It does work with co0kie's mod but it replaces some of the menu items while in landscape. I can definitely live with that, thank you for the awesome app.

Display resolution and rotation

Hi all,
I installed an application on the HTC but I have a problem with the resolution. To fix it I need to rotate the screen to work horizontally, the HTC has a few settings to change the resolution or to rotate the screen manually?
Thanks,
Carlos
Re
You can try change screen or gyrator.
Change screen works well for me.
i also use changescreen, but especially at the beginning it caused some problems. now i am using it just to fix the "service" screen (batt. status, new events etc) into vertical position (this screen also caused problems [without changescreen] in combination using messaging service in horizontal postition).
apps id like to rotate, are rotated by bsb tweaks (but watch out, bsb tweaks may cause problems with ur camera!)

Would this also allow me to rotate Office apps (Word / Excel / OneNote) so that the larger landscape keyboard comes into use?
Yes it do,
Personaly I used change screen on Diamond, but I prefer BSB tweaks 1.6 on mini, especially because it support "pinch & zoom" too and some other tweaks.
BSB Tweaks
I also tried BSB Tweaks 1.6, but as written in the previous post, the camera didn't work after the installation.

Kind regards.
@koengam,
Ok, but only if we use BSB to rotate the camera or I am wrong ?
it doesnt make problems with the rotation of your camera, but with filesize, resolution, bitrate and in the worst case teh cam won't record the visual part, only the sound.
i just mentioned in case you will use it. for this issue you may read the thread about this cam-topic.
Many thank, but actually, it still continue to work well.
