Interesting for Chefs!!
Have you ever noticed that the Album version of the new Roms is very laggy in sliding between the pictures when you turn your phone in landscape mode?
I found 5 min ago a solution when playing with the registry, in which the Album slides smooth in Landscape AND you can use the picture overview in Landscape.
In
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\HTCAlbum]
Edit the "rotate" entry to "0"

i think it's useful for chef as it can easily be included in rom instead making us fiddle with the registry
what exactly does this improve? is it sliding between pictures when viewing full screen landscape or when the device is rotated on the photos tab?
if its the first, then it can also be accomplished by removing the entries in the Gsensor whitelist - thats how ive been doing it.
Great find.
Not only does it improve the landscape viewing, but it avoids/solves a bug in the recent HTC albums where you could confuse the sliding sequence when changing the physical position of the HD while continuing to slide.

I donĀ“t see any improvement....maybe someone can upload a video?
I really like this feature to work...!!!
Thks.
Too bad it doestn't work for me. In portrait mode, the pictures slide very smooth. In landscape mode it's still choppy and slow, even with this change in the register and a softreset. I think it has something to do with the g-sensor. Is it possible to totally disable the g-sensor or at least when turning the phone in album..?
I've tried about 6 different roms and they all have this problem, i hope someone can fix this.

It's first
But the difference is, that the picture view (this where all pictures are listed in a grid) could be used in landscape mode furthermore.
With the removing of the whitelist this would be impossible!

No problem
The only thing I wish is that there are no more laggy HTCAlbums in new Roms *ggg*

Which version of HTCAlbum do you have? You see the version also in the Registry path were the tweak has to be added.
I tried it with Dutty Holy Grail R0 2.1 And the Album version is 3.0
And I don't have to make a soft reset... wierd...
Great discovery can you do that for the calculator and htc music
MOD EDIT
Moved to General discussion forum
i have noticed that roms with os 6.5.1 has a very fast rotation and fast scrolling in landscape mode both for pictures and music (i just check on chinehe v.2.3)
and the rotation registry value is still "1"
so, maybe the solution for slow rotation and scrolling can be found starting from here + terrorhuhn discovery
a smart guy could find it and share for us

To speed up scrolling through pics in landscape go to HKLM/Software/HTC/HTCScroll and change "velocity_factor". It's set at 10000 and I've changed it to 20000. You might want to set it to 40000 just to see the increase in speed and then back it down from there. This setting will also increase scrolling speed in, among other things, the favorites tab, internet tab, and increase scrolling through albums in the music tab while in landscape. This tweak may very well be the one in HD Tweak, I'm not sure, but whatever the case, you can set it how you like.

hey guys,
tried to look for the answer but i couldn't maybe you guys can guide me. the htc x7500 has the vueflo software, therefore in the theory it should be able to sense if it is held in landscape of portrait position and should be able to change from these views by changing the position of the device (kind of like the iphone).
is there a way to make this possible? i am sick of manually changing the view from landscape back to portrait everytime i deattach the keyboard.
someone MUST have thought of this already.
looking forward to the answer. thanx
haz
Nope, as for right now VuFlo only works in either PIE or Opera. But your right, it should made available to the system.

the vueflo software is used for the internet browser only, saving you scrolling on a web page manually.
Hey guys,
Ive been working very hard at getting Manila2d to work in landscape (when you flip out the keyboard while manila2d is active then it will automatically switch today plugins)
this is the last piece of the puzzle: i need a today plugin that works in landscape and that can be skinned to look like TOuchflo 3d in landscape (basically skinnable shortcuts)
if i get it working ill release a .cab!
thanks guys
something like RLtoday maybee???
Very curious how it looks in landscape on my Kaiser

thanks for the suggestion mate.
however after Googling it i saw that it was more than just a few shortcuts, even though it could easly be skinned. can you have it where it only displays shortcuts? if yes, then i will definitely try it out
recommend the landscape same as HTC touchpro after flip out keyboard
http://www.htc.com/www/product/touchpro/overview.html
yes, thats exactly how i want to skin it.
does anyone have any othersuggestions for programs that might work for this?

If you want it like that maybee something like mortbuttons is a better option...
Don't know if it's easy to skin..
thanks again man
i just downloaded mortbuttons and it appears that its only a standalone applicationa dn not actually a today plugin, but i think im missing something.
ok: can a developer whip up someting really small thats just a today plugin thats made for landscape that looks and acts like the touch pro's landscape?
thanks
I could make an rlToday skin super fast for ya. Tonight even. QVGA I assume? I'll leave the purdy graphics to you, I'll just make a template. How's that sound?
I would focus on Touch Dual and Action Screen.
When you sliding the keyboard of Touch Dual - the action screen starting up. Maybe something similar is done on Touch Pro.
Cheers,
Chris

1stly : the wasy u guys help each other out - like a family - I LUV DAT...!! 2ndly I SSSOOO LUV DIS FORUM...!!! As soon as I have cleared my overdraft am donating. Dyin with anticipation for TF3D to arrive.
Nearly done, but it's 3am here in Aus I'm going to hit the sack, and will upload the completed one tomorrow.
It's based entirely on rlToday, and respects rlToday's application shortcut menu [so all customisation of app names and links can be done without touching XML ]. Nothing fancy, no animations, but it'll work.
Edit:
That's a lie. My trickery to over-ride what I was going for didn't work, so to edit the shortcuts you'll have to dive into XML for now, until I can find a way around it
are youy actualy working on manila2d or skining some other app that looks like it?
What about HTC HOME? that works in landscape
Ask APBilbo. He made something similar with ThrottleLauncher in landscape.
Any news on the landscape???...my kaiser is screaming for it
i am close on landscape look at the pictures below
I've got my somewhat finished rlToday skin here if you'd like me to upload it. All it needs is the XML to be changed to link to whatever apps you want, and change the icons to whatever you want.
Give me a yell if you still need it.
what about today life? Not sure if thats what your looking for.

Posting before reading i should now better.
MortButtons?!
You can either bring up a skinned Menu or the Buttons Today Pugin.
Not sure if that's what your after.
But it would be drawn to the screen much faster then RL.

I 2nd the motion for HTC Home, its easy to use, elegant, and much more useful than a simple action screen. If HTC Home isn't the OP's preference, can we have a second version of the program that supports HTC Home?
Hi,
I've just came up with an idea, which would be IMHO great for the VGA devices using the new Manila2. What do you think about hiding the slider in portrait mode just like in the landscape? I'm talking about the button, which after pressing on it, displayes the slider for a few seconds. Thanks to this modification there would be more space on the screen.
I guess it is hard to do, but maybe someone would cope with it... if only you like the idea
I love this idea although i don't have the lua editting skills to do it!
I'm using Fredz advance music player, which is cool and love the minimizing tab

hope that too!
i don't think it's difficult to hide the slider in entire manila portrait mode, but the whole point of porting to VGA is to make it fit in the screenspace that is available
the only thing you're going to miss is that one last week in calendar (and even that one can be visible by reducing the height) and maybe see more appointments in the home screen (then again, hiding the slider, you also can't see your new messages and new e-mail)
I love this idea.. and it have to work somehow.. well this is what i stumbbeled over today: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508369
check the pictures.. the music tab kinda hides the menu like landscape.. there has to be a way to do that to all the tabs i guess...
great idea
Maybe someone is going to make it true...

I have searched heaven and hell to find a way to get the D2 running in landscape view, that is for it to switch to landscape view when you rotate the screen. So far I have found apps that allows everything but manilla and its tabs (including home page) run in landscape.
Is there a way to do this?

You can make use of the Topaz drivers itself to do auto-rotation. You do not need to install additional application running in background.
There're some registry editings to be done. Nevertheless, you can use this application to help you enter those into the whitelist. You need to soft-reset after inputting all the applications you'd like to auto rotate.

Landscape manila for d2 is more annoying then useful, if you tilt the phone past the tilt point either way (portrait or landscape) it will rotate and take at least half a second to change screen, and it enerally takes more to come back to portrait. This makes it difficult to immediately read stuff or accept calls as the screens changing layout and the buttons end up in different places.
Landscape would only be useful on phones like the pro2 and it's previous variants when you need landscape while the keyboards out. Other than that just make your mail programs etc landscape capable.
There are other threads with reg keys and apps to use, just follow those and see if they give you success.
Cheers,
Scott
Graphics from the manila tabs aka TD2 homescreen are not designed for lanfscape view, therefor its like Scott (post #4) sayd, more annoying than usefull.
Thanks a lot guys. I think I see your point. Funny thing is that it was my recently installed S2U app that drove it home. It was annoying as hell when it kept switching to views.
Hi ppz,
Tried to search the following question on the forum, but didn't succeed.
Does anyone know, if possible, to turn the screen counter-clockwise for the fixed landscape apps, particularly the youtube player. You know, so that the volume buttons are on top and the softkeys left.
I rather prefer a registry solution above programs like zensor or gyrator because it's not g-sensor related.
greetz, bobby
Ow yeah, and a happy new jear to all of yah!
Nobody knows? (bump)
Try using a tweak or settings program (like advanced configuration tool 3.3) ?
I thought I had the solution but didn't... sorry I misread the question.
Hi Bobby,
Try ChangeScreen - v2.78.
It works for me.
thnx for the replies.
@ denniske, thnx for the link, looks like a great app, especially the bug fix for the title bar! I'm gonna use this.
But I still expierence probs on youtube with this program. The button layout gets stuck and the movie shrinks to half size or when in full size it falls half out of screen... How are your preferences in that app?
grtz.
