[Q] Official Upgrade to 2.2 Norwegian - Blade General

Hello.+
Most likely there is a thread like this one, but I could just not find it.
So here is my question.
I just want to upgrade my ZTE Blade 2.1 Norwegian to stock 2.2 Norwegian.
How do I proseed? I've never had an Android phone before.
What do I need to know to make this happen?
Sorry if this is in the wrong place or f I'm lost about all of this.
But thanks to anybody who helps me

ok first you will have to root the phone (best to do it through 'Rom manager', which can be downloaded from the app store)
just follow the instuctions on the app (first flash clockwork recovery....)
then click flash rom and it might be on there.
if not, download it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883700
it should be on there.... i think
then save that on to your mem card
then load in to clockwork recovery (power on and home key) then wipe phone and then flash rom, then find it and click on it.
thats how to change from 2.1 to 2.2 and the languge option should be on the start up of the rom (like when you first turned on the phone in 2.1)
hope this helped, if not just reply and ill try to find a way to help.

Ok, so I want to update...

Ok, so I want to update to 1.6 aka "Donut", and as you may notice by looking at my signature. I have a Rooted MT3G, do I need to un-root my MT3G first? or can I update while my MT3G is rooted?

you can just flash the 1.6 ota just like you would a rom.... update.zip
this is the the plain 1.6 (donut) rom
http://developer.htc.com/google-io-device.html
there are also a ton of cooked 1.6 roms in the dev section if you wanna go that route
You'll need to wipe going from Cupcake to Donut so it doesn't really matter whether you have Root or not.
If you just want plain Donut, use that link above.
If you want Donut with root, use nk02's ROM.
If you want Donut with tether, apps2sd and all that stuff there are a few ROMs around now. Check out Amon_RA's Donut or Dwang's Donut ROM.
Of course, fastboot Amon_RA's Recovery to perform a nandroid backup of your stock phone (incase you ever have to send it in for warranty) and to flash the new zip.
Ok, so I used the guide here and every time I tried to install the 1.6 update. It said no signature found, the only reason I can think of this is because I have a ROM file named "update".
Can I delete the ROM file off my myTouch once I installed it or do I need to keep it there so the ROM would keep working?
Can anyone explain why the 1.6 update isn't working for me?
Thank you.

It is the exact same process as you did to your hero rom. It looks like you already did the 1 touch root so simply turn on phone and then mount phone via cable and transfer the file and rename it "update.zip". After that, disconnect the cable and turn off the phone and then hold the home + power button. Wipe the data and then install the update like you did before and voila, you're done.
To see it all in a video, I believe I followed this when I did it

Question about cyanogenmod

Hello, I have recently installed Amon_RA's RAv1.6.3 - DONUT on my 1.5 32B phone. I want to install the latest cyanogen. Do I have to restore my phone back to 1.5 using sappimg or is there another way?
No.
go to recovery and wipe and flash a new ROM .(turn Phone Of . Hit home and power. )
NVM. I found the answer. I didn't search hard enough, I was supposed to ask about how to install a later recovery. Sorry for wasting your time if you read this.

In need of really good help! - Restore to original ROM

Hi there!
I've been searching and looking for any other posts with the problem I have. And I've come up with nothing..
This is my situation; Rooted my HTC Hero (EU) and flashed Eclair Vanilla 4.0 just days before the release of the original update from HTC.. Wanted to go back to the original ROM, followed the instructions and this is where it all breaks down.
It doesn't work and now I've lost the Amon RA bootloader and I can't boot it up, all though the Eclair Vanilla boots up if you boot the phone. Recovery boot doesn't work, been trying with several methods i.e. Goldcard method.. But no luck. And I've even tried the RUU program and it didn't find the connection on the USB but when I boot the phone in to Fastboot it can find it :/
And now I'm hoping that someone here on XDA could help me, since users on Swedroid forums doesn't know how to answer a post.
I'd really like to have some help, thankfull for every advice and I really hope I can fix this since the Eclair Vanilla 4.0 ROM really sucks and drains my battery.
Sincerely yours
Andreas
Download ROM Manager from the market made by Koush, open the app and flash his recovery image. Once this is done, re-open the app, scroll down and click the flash alternate recovery image (Amon_Ra-v1.6.2). It happened to me not long ago to lose my recovery image and I did this and it all worked ok!
As for returning to the original ROM well sorry bud but I can't help you with that!
Hope this helps!
Cheers
Okay, the only one I found was from some ClockworkMod guessing that would work too.. Imma try that one out
If you want to go back to unrooted ROM. I think this should work.
- Download the appropriate (EU) RUU ROM
- connect your phone to your PC
- flash the official ROM from your PC
That didn't work since it didn't find the USB Connection, but the ROM Manager did work! And I'm flashing HTC_HERO_WWE now.. Thank you sooo much kukussi! You made my life so much easier now!

In Device Manager, right-click on HTC Bootloader, Update Driver..., Search on Hard Disk, and choose "My HTC".
RUU will now recognize the phone
no problem!

Back to shipped rom not that easy...

Everywhere in this wonderful forum I read that it is very easy to go back to a shipped rom. Just download it, click the exe-file and follow instructions.
BUT: I unrooted my WF and flashed the Puzzlerom (very good rom, by the way). Now when I try to install original rom, it says that I've got the wrong bootloader on my device. The one on my device seems to be newer than the one the shipped rom expects before install. So the RUU halts and no flashing.
I think we have to have this sorted out. I think many people will want to try the new official Froyo for Wildfire, which will be out soon, we all hope. So you have to go back to original rom, don't we?
Anyone who knows how to handle this?

That's definitely something i would love to know.
Thanks.
Btw, any chances you might know how to go back to original recovery rom? Now I got clockworkmod done in by unrevoked3. Not sure if there is one thou as I only come to know the existence of recovery portion after unrevoked.
Just asking for knowledge. Thanks.

Is my Hero bricked? What should I do?

Hello everyone!
First off I'd like to start by telling you I'm new here and I don't know much about rooting so I'm reffering to you for help... Here is what happened... I have a G2 Hero, running android 2.1. So one day I decided to root it and install a custom rom. I downloaded Universal Androot-1.6.2-beta5 and ran it on my mobile.
Afterwards I formatted my sd card then restarted the device and downloaded rom manager from the market and flashed Clockwork. After this I put CyanogenMod-6.1.0-RC1 in the root dir of my sd card, tried to install it from [HOME] + [PWR] buttons menu and an error saying [status 7] showed up... Now im stuck in an endless bootloop... I cannot sync the device with my computer, cannot hard reset.. I can access Hboot menu but there isnt anything I can do...
What should I do to restore it to stock and then try the whole thing again but with a new rom? Thanks in advance!
Anyone?
Have you tried running an official HTC RUU? They can be found in a thread on the development page
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
you have to search for "RUU for htc hero gsm". There's an official website for that. Download RUU (about 80-90mbytes as i remember) and start it. As i remember you should power your phone in HBOOT mode (VOL DOWN + POWER), connct to PC and run RUU and follow the wizard.
It will flash stock 1.5 android.
After reeboot it should inform you that there's an update, but if you want to flash different recovery, you shouldn't update your phone.
Then you should follow "How To - Root Your HTC Hero in One Click" (can't post links yet).
Ok first of all thank you guys for the help! So I downloaded RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.66_WWE_test_signed_NoDri ver.exe from the main thread. At first I had some connection problems but then I switched the front panel USB to one of the rear which are 2.0 and continued. Now I'm stuck at a later step. Tried to update it but an error message saying "ERROR[131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR Please get the correct ROM UPDATE UTILITY and try again" displays. Which RUU would you recommend?
I used official RUU from htc.com site. It just worked for me.
This one is in Polish, but i believe, you will find one in your language or in English
http://www.htc.com/pl/supportdownload.aspx?p_id=283&cat=2&dl_id=671
//edit
You must provide a valid serial number from sticker behind the battery and select a corresponding file. It will be only one i think
//edit2
There's something more about this error 131:
http://androidforums.com/707610-post16.html
Apparently you just used wrong RUU... Try one from prev link.
Ok, soI downloaded RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.5_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver from the official HTC website and go past last error but afterwards I encounter another one. This time it is "ERROR[140] BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR, Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again"
Any suggestions this time?

You could try the carrier one if you got it from Orange flash the ruu which is for Orange uk
Nope, my phone is from Europe but I dont think I got my cd... I'll sure search for it. Any other suggestions?
Maybe you can find a workaround there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684504
I am currently trying with this one:RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.38_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver. But it seems to be stuck on "Sending.....Updating the ROM image on your Android phone" The progress bar on the phone's display is almost complete but wont move anymore. I have waited for 20 minutes now...
EDIT: I finally fixed it! I didn't realise I had to have the same RUU version like my software version. Thought I had to downgrade. Nevermind it's all OK now and it's time to try the whole rooting and custom ROM process again
I want to thank all of you guys that helped me!
Good for you man
Just out of pure couriosity, what rom will U use afrer your phone get rooted?
You have to use your carrier related stock rom/exe. What is your carrier?
