Can't Seem to setup Exchange Active Sync - Xperia Arc General

Can't Seem to setup the Exchange Active Sync account on my Arc, using default mail client. Using the exact same settings which had worked on my HTC Desire, but when I clicked next, it just runs some processes, and doesn't proceed any further.
Using the same settings, I downloaded Touchdown on my arc and tried, and of course it works.
Anybody have any clue?

Is this hotmail by any chance? It would be interesting if you are experiencing this with anything other than hotmail as I know this is something experienced with Hotmail connecting to the default mail client...

Thanks! it's actually a home.microsoftonline.com service not hotmail..
Tried everything I could... doesn't work..

Hello, I succeed in installing an exchange account (mail2web) on my Arc with no issue for email, agenda and contacts. The only problem is that my contacts are not sorted by Name/First Name but First Name/Last Name.

Please teach me how to make it sync .. i want to have the 2unread messages thing on my email part of my TouchFlo.. it feels so good to know i've got emails
Please help me. Thanks
I've been trying and trying for past few hours
I tried this
http://www.htc.com/www/howto.aspx?p_id=291&id=43&page=2
and it does not seem to work..
Please please do help me out here.
Thanks in advance.
If you want your Hotmail mails in your WinMo to be synced with Outlook -
1. Make sure that Email check box is checked i.e. when you are syncing - Email is shown in the list of items to be synced.
2. In outlook, you will find two folders, Personal Folder and Hotmail. The Hotmail folder is NOT synced with Activesync. Simple drag all mails in the inbox from Hotmail Folder to Inbox of Personal folder. That should work.
Unless you have a GPRS connection the link you have described will not work.
Hope it helps

Load up the messenger application on your device, it should ask you to log in and if you want to sync your email...
But in all honestly, you're better off setting up a gmail account and using activesync on your device - it will give live mail, and sync contacts and calendar all the time automatically.
I've made a Gmail account. And i've synced my Hotmail with Gmail. It will take a few hours or days. Then i synced my Microsoft outlook 2007 on my laptop with Gmail. Connected the USB and successs!! I synced my Gmail with my phone.
But i dont understand why i cant send out or receive any email? I'm using my WiFi. Is it possible to Send/Receive while using WiFi instead of GPRS Internet cause thats very expensive ^^
But anyways, thanks it works. If only i could send/receive mails now.. Hopefully not by GPRS.

Depends how you've set up gmail...
you need to set up gmail as an exchange server, with the address m.google.com, and sync mail, contacts and calendar only. Then you get true push email, you don't need to conenct activesync to your pc at all, should all work over wifi.
What do you mean? How do i check that settings?

Go into activesync, then congigure server. Try and delete the server source you have, then create a new one.
Username iis your full gmail address, server is m.google.com, leave all security settings ticked.
hi, i had the same problem, i resolved it this way:
when you want to configure your hotmail account like any other email in your mobile,
i think the problem is that the Touch 2 (or WM6.5) has some mail-server account settings pre-configured, and the hotmail one is wrong. i managed to use hotmail both as IMAP and POP3 by just entering a wrong e-mail address (like [email protected]), then entering the right serer settings for pop3 or imap (found in hotmail's help by searching pop3 or imap), and finally, after finishing the configuration, just edited the e-mail settings and altered the email address with the right one (@hotmail.com).
now it's working perfectly, just like gmail or any other mail service.
hope this helps.

gmail + exchange activesync

Hello all. I have my phone connected to gmail through activesync. I also want to have email access to my work's exchange server. I have not found an easy way to get email from both accounts but only sync contacts from google. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank You. )

You cannot connect 2 Exchange (Gmail also acting as Exchanger Server) server from Windows Mobile via Activesync, but you can setup Gmail as IMAP then you can connect to your Work Exchange Server. But Contact & Calendar information only sync with your Work Exchange.
I disagree, you can have 2 exchange servers with a registry tweak. However as specified above you cannot sync two email accounts, but you can sync contacts, calendars and tasks.
If i am honest its not an idea solution, but it does work. It sounds like the solution above works the same but has the benefit of better sense integration. At the moment i have my work exchange server linked in sense and active sync for contacts, calendar and email. My gmail is linked in two places, the first one activesync which covers the calendar and contacts, but i also link the email via imap via sense. This works well too but its a little awkward trying to edit email settings.

Hotmail active sync!!! For sense builds!!!

So its a known issue that hotmail active sync doesn't work on sense builds.. I found by using the stock email app not htc's you can set up hotmail using the corporate sync settings. here is the apk from vanilla android working great with my hotmail account and mdeejay desire build. just make sure the server is m.hotmail.com. check both boxes bout certificates and make sure you only add @hotmail.com to user name do not remove the /. The domain box should remain blank..
Sent from my HTC Vision HD2
i have been waiting for this for a very long time...thank you!
Absolutely G-R-E-A-T!
A must-have app, now you can have three push mail accounts on your device, thanx

Gmail is excellent on Android. Just go into gmail and have it receive your hotmail emails too?
Gmail tells you from which email account each email is and replies from the same account that received the message. Of course as far as i know theres no Gmail widget for emails? (someone tell me if one exists, not that i search specifically for it)

Active sync is for more than just push emails though especially if you have Outlook which many do. And Gsyncit is a pay for app which active sync can do for free in one step. Also if you have lots of folders like I do on my outlook then you can't access these either.
EDIT: I have tonight discovered a solution to my problem of not being able to set up my Hotmail Exchange Active Sync. I have been trying for ages to set this up using the normal HTC email client. It kept reporting it had failed and I should try again later. So I found another email app called Improved Email and tried it with that and what do you know? It works! So now I am synced via Hotmail Exchange and my emails come instantly. In fact they arrive faster on my HD2 than on my home PC running outlook! So it begs the question why can't I set this up on the HTC email client??
Working now in the stock sense email app in EVO 3.70.651.1 Build
Just to confirm - once this is done, we can access our Hotmail via the HTC email app, or do we have to use the stock Android one?
Thanks!

Can you please explain how to get the Gmail app to use a hotmail account? I too like the Gmail app and would rather use it than "email", but when I go to add an account it goes to the "Add a Google Account" screen, with no posibility to do anything other.

Sorry to revive this thread but will this work on a HTC Aria? Apparently the Aria also suffers from the same bug that wont allow you to sync your phone with hotmail.

Stock email activesync issue

Hi,
I'm using Stock Email Client with ActiveSync. Server setup is Zimbra with NotifyLink exposing email server to be accessed using ActiveSync (Gateway).
Connection is fine, calendar works, but emails are not interpreted. I get all email subjects but when I open an email I get the message source as it is (start with Received: from hostname/ip address)
Anybody else facing the same issue?
Regards,
Amo
I used SGS1 (one) with similar setup but Groupwise as the mail server. NotifyLink worked perfectly well with the stock client, no issues, emails showed up well.
I am still to configure my SGS2 for mail - if I face problems I will update this thread. But I doubt.
I bet this is something with your NL config, the way it interprets Zimbra mails, or Zimbra is doing strange stuff to mail body.
Hi,
thanks for your feedback. accessing the email using IMAP works fine. i do suspect the notifylink gateway over zimbra mail server does something wrong.
regarding the NL setting, is something I should look for on device, notifylink or zimbra server side?
regards
Ovidiu
Problem solved. It seems that our configuration is not supporting samsung devices and this is a known issue with stock sgs email clients.
they advised me to go for touchdown, but i have decided to stay on imap + caldav sync for calendar synchronization.
to conclude, there is no problem with sgs2 activesync.

I have exactly the same problem as yours (Zimbra-NotifyLink-SGS2, emails not displaying properly, organization asked to revert to touchdown, etc). I think we are working for the same organization .
Can you please describe how you are using caldav to sync calendar? Thanks.
I have been successful with setting up my email sync over IMAP. But, no luck syncing PIM data.

Gmail App & Exchange (Lack of it...)

Soooo, I've been using the Gmail app for my work's exchange on my HTC One, but after receiving my S7 edge yesterday and attempting to setup exchange on the app, I noticed there is no option for it? The only way I can setup exchange on this phone (w/o downloading Outlook I suppose) is to set it up on Samsung's native email app... Anyone else notice this? Kind of BS if you ask me. The Gmail app is better IMO for my email needs.

Download the latest version of Exchange Services from here - http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/exchange-services/
You'll have to enable unknown sources for install. Close the Gmail app before install, reopen and add account, and you'll find Exchange access there.

Same here. I am getting the dreaded "Sync is currently experiencing problems, it will be back shortly." message when it is trying to sync the calendar. Emails have been coming through just fine the past couple of days but the calendar does not seem to be synching properly. I also get this error message when it tries to sync contacts as well but I'm not as concerned with the contacts. I've tried several workarounds that are out there on the web but I have stopped short of doing a factory reset, which I would prefer to avoid if possible. Has anyone tried the factory reset option and can confirm that it actually resolves the issue?
I am wondering if the issue may be a bug with the latest version of the Exchange Services apk that we are using (5.0.106634657).
I just decided to run my email through Gmail but use MS Active Sync for Calendar.
Has anyone had any success with the Gmail Calendar sync issue yet?
I may have to go the MS Active Sync route.
You could also set up the account in the default mail app, and turn off sync for everything but the calendar. I'm using that app to sync my exchange account, and everything works.
