Horrible market problems - HTC Aria General

OK so I went from having force closing problems to wifi problems and now it's market problems I'm slowly getting better at this. So when I want to download something on the market it starts, downloads to 10 percent and just stops and I have no idea. This happens almost every 5 or so downloads and I once cleared cache an it worked for just one application and that's it. Thanks for your help guys

[Q] marketplace not working
as of today my android marketplace hasnt worked... i click an app to download and install and it starts the download then the thing just disappears from my notification bar and it never actually installs on my device. ive tried this on several different apps, including some that i have downloaded before but decided to uninstall, yet the problem remains. im running cm7 nighty #35 if thats any help. can anyone explain whats up?

First thing I would try is to clear Market cache by going to Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > Scroll down to Market, select Force Stop then Clear cache, and try downloading the app again.

yeah i had tried that. but no luck, it didnt work. i guess maybe itll fix itself when i update my rom. i dont know

Drum doesn't work did that already I think it's the rom maybe they will fix it soon...

I was having an issue with it as well (but i'm on cm7, if it makes a diff). I did the clear cache/stop updates method which worked great the first time. Then the issue happened again, i cleared cache and rebooted, worked fine. THEN i had the issue again, (but i noticed it seems to have happened after using the clean feature in sd maid). Removed sd maid, cleared cache, havent had a problem since.

Apps Hang and dont donwload from Market

I am having this problem recently. I try to download any app or an update to any app. It will just sit at starting download and never download.
I am on Fresh ROM 1.0
I did update some apps after installing the ROM so that's not the problem.
I also have a problem that if I clear the cache, when I reboot Everything force and keeps force closing forever. Whats up with that? isn't the cache supposed to recompile on reboot?
I tried clearing the cache to fix the market issue to no avail (beacuse of all the force closes never got to see what happened after clearing cache). I tried clearing the cache from recovery and using Fresh's app installer, and both times tons of force closes.
Someone please HELP!
U probably need to login to gtalk. I had the same problem from using autostarts. Jus open the gtalk app, it will/should sign u in automatically.
this is not a gtalk issue. gtalk is not even related to what problem he has. i had it happen to me on my eris when i was playing around in the bootloader. when i started back up everything force closed and would not start. only sugetion i can give you on the force close it is a factory reset or ruu reset both will work. as far as downloads not starting are you rooted?
Yes, to install a custom ROM you need to be rooted. Tried the gtalk sing in to fix the Market issue and no dice. Still hanguing...
Anything else??

So I'm not going to call you out or something, but please read before you speak. Gtalk is MAJORLY tied in to the market and it is a documented fix from google themselves to try signing in to gtalk to fix stalled downloads.
Even though it doesn't work for everyone (depending on the reason it's stalled) it IS related.

Hundreds (maybe thousands?) of posts. Starting back in March and dating all the way until today. Google hasn't been able to resolve the issue. I can tell you that what has always worked for me is a combination of cancel download > disable wifi > disable mobile data > enable mobile data > try download again.
Didn't work? Reboot and repeat. Eventually it will go......
Thanks a lot flipz. I'll try that

95% of the time your second sugestion works. it may be that gtalk has major issues with stalled downloads but ussually i have this issue when i start my download over wifi for some reason it just never connect to the google server but when i kill the download and connect over 3G or Edge it works everytime on my G1. that's been a documented fix too. this issue only happens more frequently on custom roms than stock android roms. so it's more of a rom issue that googe issue. we're all here to help each other not trash talk each other. from my point of veiw gtalk may have some type of issue but it's more with the rom cooks than the app itself and it's not their fault either gtalk was desighned to work on googles cookie cutter os not on the home brew roms so errors happen you just have to know how to sweat talk your andoid to doing things when issues happen. the problem i had with your post was you only stated the gtalk issue when the wifi issue is more prevelent. i wasn't sure if he was on stock os or custom os so i asked about it. then i would have given him the instructions on turning off the the wifi, killing the downloads, and restarting the phone. like you told him to in the second post cause that seem to work better than the gtalk method.

I stated clearly on my first post I am on Fresh 1.0 ROM, so everyone would know I was on a custom ROM.

sorry. i did not read your post clearly thought when you said fresh you ment fresh install. haven't really been keeping up with the hero roms to much and thier names still waiting for my eris to get it's turn at root. when i saw your post it just reminded me of how my rooted G1 would not start downloads over wifi. so i asked rooted or not just to be on the safe side.
the thing that got me a little heated was when he said "not to call you out" then he goes into a trist about how wifi seems to be the better fix.
by the way did you get your problem fixxed?

(Ok,fair enough it can be confusing when i wrote fresh; no worries).
About my problem: Not at all man, I tried every single one of the fixes and no luck. I am thinking about going back to stock and reflashing the custom ROM. I'll report back if/when/how it gets fixed
Nevermind Disregard

I ended up factory resetting and now everything downloads normally
So... apps were downloading perfect from market UNTIL I restored a nandroid backup. Afterwards, Apps hang again. I mean exactly after restoring, went to the market and the problem is there again. Can the problem be tied to restoring backups? Or just coincidence?
Update:
Got the downloads working after clearing the cache of every single google application on the phone as well as IM.
After this, started downloading the app and it still hung. Opened gtalk and exactly as it signed in it started downloading fine.
I tried the afore mentioned fixes and had no luck, so for anyone who has this issue and has not been able to resolve it, this is another workaround.
Just FYI to anyone still with problems, I had problems again today EXACTLY after restoring a backup again.
This post I quoted by Zippy-man did the trick today Great Help..

[Q] Market Issues

I have just rooted and installed kaosfroyo v38 on my Droid Eris. I am using LauncherPro. I was having serious battery life issues until I installed the latest CFS kernel (v9). Since upgrading my kernel, battery is great but the app market is broken. When trying to download and install apps, I get a download unsuccessful error.
I've read and read this and other forums for a fix and can't seem to find any that work. I did find some answers, but they didn't work. I cleared data and cache. I did a dalvik wipe. Did the market fix. Nothing works.
Strangely enough, I can install Verizon apps from the market, no problem. Also, some apps can install fine, like Best Buy. Specifically, I am trying to install "The Best Card Game Ever - Yaniv".
This is my first post, thanks for understanding my noobishness.
Try downloading "Eris Market Fix" from the Market, that's helped me in the past with similar issues.
As I said above, I did the Eris Market Fix. No help.
Have you cleared the Market's cache through Manage Applications? I've been running into the issue recently also. I'm using FroShedYo and that's seemed to work recently. Clear the cache on the Market app, reboot, and try the download again. I've also read where clearing all Google related app's cache helps, like Voice, Talk, etc but I haven't had the need to go that far.
Yep, did all that. Still not working.
I realized this thread is probably in the wrong forum. Sorry. I can't figure out how to delete it.
Again...noob.
I had to wipe the delvik after the fix when that happened a couple roms ago, and it fixed the problem

Yes... after running the market fix, you need to reboot into recovery and do a dalvik wipe. That should help with the issue.

Maybe it's just an apps2sd issue? I'm assuming that v38 + cfsv9 regarding apps2sd is not copacetic. Settings->CyanogenMod settings->Install location. Perhaps your install location is set as automatic or external.
After I recovered to CELB from KGB my market was broken, market fix and cache clearing dalvik and app did nothing... so I beat it into submission, tee hee, uninstalled market and reflashed gapps. Eventually I will have a computer again and will be able to fix things with more grace, but this method doesn't ever fail me.

Market Randomly FC?

ok so i was reading some older threads but they dont seem to help...all of a sudden i decided to download an app in the market and it lets me click install and it says "your app is now being installed" and then bam im hit with a force close...ive tried clearing data reinstalling my rom...i even upgraded CWM3 (not that would do anything) but ive tried a few things and it still force closes...
Did you try clearing the cache on the market? You can also look for the new market APk somewhere. I've heard it runs a lot better. I think the newest is 2.2.11 hope that helps
thanks...i tried it cleared data and cache...and actually saw that my newest version was .11 but it still force closed ...i got the app to d/l to 100% but then it FC...so i tried flashing a diff rom which sucks cuz i lost all my data had to start from scratch no FC so i flashed back to quantum again and everything looked good then bam FC...

DexMod v1.3 + Bluetooth Fix, Market FC

Brand new A7. Flashed newest official eLocity firmware (now I realize I didn't need to do that), Wiped, then Installed DexMod v1.3 then BT Fix.
Android Market, after initially opening up and having me set things up, just force closes when I goto the Apps section. What can be done to resolve this or is this caused by DexMod and I should not install apps via the market?
Calendar FCs and YouTube just closes immediately without any message.
Looks as if Calendar also FCs.
I had the same issue so i went to apps setting then manage apps then to the program that was fc i then cleared the data and restarted that program and it worked just fine. Hope that helps

I had similar issues after upgrading to 1.3
My issue was that I remembered to wipe/reset, but forgot to clear cache.
Went back and did that step and haven't had a problem since.

Official Marketplace Myapps isn't showing anything.

I'm not sure how it happened, but the official Google marketplace just doesn't work anymore.
On Bell Atrix, 2.3.6, Stock.
The Marketplace loads up fine, by when I go into my apps it just doesn't list anything. Not my installed apps, not my purchases, nothing. I can download apps just fine, but nothing then gets linked to my apps.
I have tried my account on 2 other devices(galaxy nexus and asus transformer), and it works fine. I have also tried someone else's account on my phone and that works.
I have tried a factory reset, and it the marketplace v2.3.6 works for the first login. But after it just gives the following error.
"A server error has occurred. retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen"
Retry just loops the error, with no success, and cancel just returns me to the marketplace's main page
After the marketplace updates, when I go to my apps I just get a generic white page w/my google account and 2 buttons to go to either the game or apps section.
This site lists the exact same issue I'm having. No fixes though =/

Try erasing market's cache, or using a different market version.

I have the same issue. Nothing worked for me soo far... The only think you can do is to install cm7, cm9 or miui. It works on these roms just fine.

I was hoping to avoid that. Blasphemy, I know, but I like being on stock.
Have you tried returning to stock, and seeing if it works?

I emailed Android Market Support on friday when it started. They emailed back asking for more information pretty quickly.
However, I haven't heard anything, since responding to the initial email.
https://support.google.com/androidmarket/bin/request.py?contact_type=market_phone_tablet_web
Try submitting a request. It might not account to anything, but it may make them realize others are having the issue also
Try erasing market cache and then deleting /data/data/com.android.vending/databases/market_assets.db with some file manager. After rebooting market should work properly(but you may need instal something or restore links using TiBu) at least for while
EDIT: I have this error from ca. 1,5-2 months, reported it and google did exactly nothing about this issue
Ok, this has worked for me so far. My fingers are crossed that it'll be a permanent fix.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458670
1) Go to Market Tools -> Market Doctor and Unlink all User & System apps.
2) Reboot device.
3) Open any Root Explorer or Browser and locate and delete the file "market_assets.db" in "/data/data/com.android.vending/databases".
4) Reboot device.
5) Go to TB Pro and to Market Tools -> Market Doctor -> User Apps and link all the User Apps that you installed on your device from the Android Market. Make sure that no System App is linked.
6) Reboot device.
7) Install a free app
Looks like that was only a temp fix, because the issue came right back this morning....
