[Q] New upgrade help

Hi,
I bought a Legend a couple of weeks ago and I been playing with it, I'm to afraid to try to root it and at the end I'm leaving this phone to my wife and getting something more high end for me.
Now I noticed that Froyo is out for the phone. But when I try to find the update OTA it says that my phone is up to date.
The specs are
Firmware version
2.1-update1
Baseband
47.39.35.09U_7.08.35.21
Software number
2.06.709.3
I don't want root access or anything (but if I need to root it I will), what I do is
Downloaded the debranded ROM
put it in the SD Card Root file.
Start the Phone in recovery mode
But I get a big red Triangle with a ! sign after that.
Do i need the "golden card" to be able to upgrade?
The Froyo update is not available to unbranded Legends yet. You just have to wait a few more days (maybe) for it to be released for unbrandeds or your specific carriers ROM.
If you really can't wait you can root your Legend to install the Vodafone Froyo ROM which is already available as rooted version here.
Here is a thread with a good overview of some important threads you might want to check:
Development FAQ
You will find the links to two threads you need to root your phone.
1. [HOWTO] DOWNGRADE to 1.31 which you can then root for Legend 2.1
2. [HOWTO] Rooting your Legend! Guide from MoDaCo!
after successfully rooting you can download "ROM Manager" from the Market and for example this rooted Froyo ROM:
[ROM]FroYo - Android 2.2 -Kernel 2.6.32.17 - Build on Vodafone release - ROOTED!. Just move the .zip to your SD Card and choose to install a ROM from SD in the ROM Manager menu.

[Q] [newbie] Getting there!? (from 2.0.A.0.504)

greeting mates
Just bought my x10 yesterday, left it charging for the night. And when I tried to install z4root this morning, I found out there's no Android Market, no app installer, WTH! I thought they may be "hiding" somewhere! My friend kept swearing Market had to be there, and I had to take photos on the app screens to shut him up! Anyway, I get the install done through Android SDK!
My current phone soft-spec:
fw:2.1-update1
baseband ver: 2.0.46
kernel ver: 2.6.29
build#: 2.0.A.0.504
I'm wondering which rom I should update 1st. First I saw K10, which requires 2.0.2.A.0.24, so I looked at the generic rooted 2.0.2.A.0.24, and then I found the dual-touch stock 2.0.2.A.0.24. Would be great if I can find a generic rooted 2.0.2.A.0.24 with dual-touch! A bit overwhelmed atm, any suggestions/directions would be nice! Should I worry about the baseband?
install Dual-Touch 2.0.2.A.0.24
If I flash the 2.0.2.A.0.24_for_X10-flasher SIN files, can I then use xrecovery to install those 2.0.2.A.0.24 customized roms straight from 2.0.A.0.504?
edit: I ran the SAM4.0 and did a software update, now I'm @ 2.0.2.A.0.24, guess I would have to use the good old root method!

i have already did that to get the 1.83.415.4 update for my phone to be able to use the Arabic official keyboard in this newest update
or at least root my phone and get better custom stable software
i have checked the software update after downgrading but it still saying my phone software is up to date!!!!!!
Well,
i need your help getting the answers for the following:
1- Does my phone became unbranded now after downgrading? i did not saw the usual vodafone logo when starting m phone
2- is there is anyway to force my phone to update the new official software after downgrading?
3- if i can not force it to update ..what i should do to root my phone and which the most safer way to do that (please refer me to step by step guide and a working links to the required tools)
4- what's the most stable software which contains Arabic support and how i can install it in step by step guide..
Thanks in advance for your help and please excuse the long topic as am totally new to android ( it took around 2 weeks to just figure out how to downgrade my phone)
Waiting your answers ASAP
1. Yes its unbranded.
2. You can update officially by downloading an ruu but don't. Best to get radio s-off.
3. Search the development section. You want to perm root and s-off.
4. Leedroid arabic edition.
-----
Someone Swyped my idea.
Thanks for your reply
Good news that my phone became officially unbranded
Well, in another forum (Arabic one) they just adviced me to download the official new rom 1.8xxxx on my pc (they provided me with the links)
then to connect my phne to my pc and then start the installing through my pc
No S-Off needed... No Rooting needed
and guess what... it's working like charm now
Thanks everybody
Yep, but someone could find the complete lack of root a downside

Maybe the update hasn't arrived yet in your country. There are many others who are still running 1.6 in their X8s.
Or...
You can root and install latest stock firmware which you can download from the X8 android development section, but why stay in 2.1 when can go to 2.2 or 2.3 ?

[Q] Root for Huawei S7 Slim???

Thanks for your feedback.
Hey, i had similar problems. I managed to do it this way http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1105250 Any questions just ask. I'll be around for a few.
Any idea if my version is rootable with Gingerbreak 1.2? It just I do not want to brick and would prefer an easy to root solution...
It should work, both gingerbreak and psnauter. I think thats the same version i had, either it'll work or it'll reboot. i have the 101 anyway
ok I'll give it a try....later tomorrow
Anyway thanks for your support...
Gingerbreak 1.2 works perfectly
Any idea what the right recovery is for the IDEOS S7 SLIM? I installed Rom Manager, but couldn't find my device in the recovery list.
Thanks for posting!
