Camera takes pics sideways issue - Atrix 4G General

if i hold the camera vertical and take pics, then email or post them, the top of the pic is now on the left side and it is a horizontal picture. (sure hope i am explaining this properly). if i take a picture horizontally, it will remain as it should.
this is default on most phones i think. wifes iPhone 4 does the same thing.
is there a way to make the camera app know that i am taking a pic a certain way and it saves them accordingly?
if i take a picture horizontally, it will look correct and i will not have to rotate the picture. this is just confusing to me that the phone doesnt know that i am taking a picture vertically and saves if horizontally.
any explanation?

Just curious, have you tried changing the pic resolution? Its set to widescreen by default. With camera open, open the menu, pick settings and top choice is resolution.

when changed i am sure it will work but then the quality is downgraded, correct?
i am in the middle of an SBF and 6.5 install right now or i would check. but i defiantly will once it is up.
i take a lot of pics of my 7 month old and want the best quality possible, ya know?

The first choice below widescreen is 5mp so probably not downgraded much.

changing the resolution doesn't change the horizontal issue...I would like to find a fix for this also.
Thx.

same here. this drives me nuts. especially when I am sending a MMS

Not really a solution but you can easily turn them to the left, or right, in the Gallery-app and email them from there!

or posting to Facebook
and i can also confirm that the change of settings do nothing. only makes it a more square picture and not widescreen. . .

good to know. I assume gallery "saves" the new orientation? now that I think about it, the pictures always look correct in the gallery app but are sideways when posting to facebook or sending an MMS

Vignette?
I saw somewhere that using Vignette fixed the prob on other android models. Not free..
I tried the demo version and it does seem to work for me so I a probably going to buy the app.

is there any other reason to switch to this application, vs the stock? i dont mind switching but would like to know more information you know?
not that you have it, just saying... i wonder what other perks there are..

I just tried out the demo version of Vignette. I does fix the locked in landscape issue, however, it seemed quite slow. I took a picture, then it had to make a preview (took several seconds) and then I had to click an option to "Save & Close" the preview. And then I was back to a position to be able to take another picture.
I'm not sure if the paid version is faster or not. I guess I could spend the ~$4.00 and return/refund within 15 minutes if I don't like it. Does anyone else know of any other 3rd party camera apps? I did a quick search in Android Market and didn't find anything promising. (I'll have to do more digging.)
EDIT: There is an autosave setting that I checked on that took some time and work out of what I mentioned earlier. This app is promising, but isn't very polished... especially for ~$4.00 USD.

dont pay.. i uhm. i have it. i will let you know. but i think that it is slow. i am sure you can change the auto preview though and just snap and go and review later.

I need to play with a little more, also. I only tried it for a few minutes. I didn't notice it being that slow but it may be because I didn't spend enough time. I may have to try the full version and return it if I don't like it. There is another camera app on android that is highly rated-Camera Zoom FX. I don't know if it fixes the problem and there wasn't a demo....

ok...
there is an auto save option. but when checked, it still shows the picture for 2 seconds. so i am thinking vs the stock camera app, it takes 4 seconds more to take another picture.
obviously this app has other options like effects or what not. but when taking a picture, i dont want to go through all of them and choose and then take the picture. i would rather just edit them later on photoshop or something similar.
so i am going to stick with the stock camera app and just deal with taking them horizontally until this is resolved, or not.

I have noticed the same thing, it seems pretty clear that the orientation EXIF flag is saved correctly with the picture since the gallery displays the picture correctly, and the EXIF auto-rotate feature on software like digikam seems to operate correctly.
This is how most digital cameras operate and should make it irrelevant how the images are actually stored.
Unfortunately a lot of the other android software doesn't seem to be aware of this flag. And there doesn't seem to be a setting to make the camera save the picture in it's correct orientation directly.
Oh and as far as the resolution settings goes, the widescreen setting is actually a lower resolution than the 5MP setting.

vignette has a " auto detect orientation" feature too

I was playing with it at lunch. Click on the options (normal) and change to "fast shot". I was able to take a number of pics quickly. Doing this auto saves the pics....

Contact Picture Quality

I'm probably not the first to 'complain' about this... but I thought I'd put it all together in one post and see if anyone was having the same issues, or same results...
So...
Trying to 'Sync' Facebook contact pics with my x10 contact pics - tried a few apps, and while most of them did the job to some degree, with varying results, but mainly the same level of disappointment, one thing I found with all of them was that the resolution was abysmal to say the least...
I found also that if I opened Facebook, I could view any of my own profile pics, and I was given the option to assign them to a contact – great (sort of) providing the only people I know are myself. Friends pictures were ‘locked’ such that the assign to contact option did not exist - silly, really.
Now, while fiddling with my phone, I discovered that the some of the Facebook contact syncing apps actually downloaded a full quality pic to my device – perfect – now let me see if I can open them and assign them to a contact... nope, no luck – interestingly, they were ‘locked’ just like they were when I opened them through Facebook – no option to assign them to a contact.
Now, I move them to another folder (one which had pics that I could assign) and all of a sudden, they were unlocked... funniest thing was that pics left in the original folder I took them from were also unlocked... odd... good too, but odd.
So happily assigning all these full definition contact pics, I then had a look at them, and the resolution was again abysmal... WTF...! Anyway, one last go, and instead of going via the picture to assign it to a contact, I went through the contact then assigned a picture to it... Success...! this time proper resolution...!
So from this I assume that going through the picture, or any syncing apps, you’re only getting a contact pic as good a quality as the Android system expects. However, if you go through the contact, the x10 is getting a contact pic at the full quality it knows it needs to display...
Anyway, take what you will from this, but I thought it was interesting...
same over here, the pictures I assigned to my contacts are very high quality and they all look like sh#t on the phone when some one calls me.
It is full of noise and extremely blurry. Really don't understand why...They can't be made this for such a low quality so I assume we do something wrong, but I can't figure it out. Do we need very big resolution pictures to get them proper on this phone? But thanks for the tip, working the other way around does work good, but it keeps being strange...
Cheers.
Arnold
Consider that a phone call needs to pop-up right away. Why waste the processing speed to show a full resolution image?
Note: I think an update that went around to some regions cleaned up the resolution a bit.

Not the brazilian update.
I'm willing to swear that it's a donut issue... mainly because going the Android way in is ugly, and the SE way in is on the money...
You'll also notice the Android way gives you a square pic, and the SE way gives you an elongated pic to fit with their interface...

Agreed that it might be low res for this reason, but the x10 can handle the hi res just as good - and considering the contact pics are so large, you definitely want them full res.
Hopefully SE do some updates to improve this... Hopefully...

Problem is, I don't wan't the elongated pic or the square pic.
With WinMo I could put any pic format.
Why should I be restricted in Android?

Only 2 questions I couldn't find the answer to...

I came from an HD2, and what HTC wrote over in WinMo 6.5 I thought was great, especially the gallery app, which cleared up an image when you zoomed in. I've noticed that this phone does not do that. When I zoom in on a picture I took it just turns all fuzzy, like it's been compressed or something. I know the pics are high res cause they look great on my computer, but I just can't understand why they don't clear up when you zoom in. Anyone else experience this? The only other issue I've noticed is that every once in a while I'll open an app up, lets say the web browser, and it pops up and then just force closes. Several others I know with a Vibrant/Captivate are having this problem as well, and I was just curious if anyone knew the cause. I'm totally new to Android so please pardon me if these are dumb questions.
for the second half of your post you should get your phone replaced.
there have been a couple people on here that had that issue with "sticking" buttons so apps would randomly close or settings would popup.
As for your first issue, it sounds to me as though you are zooming into the thumbnail version of the picture. Perhaps the full high-res version is actually found in another pile/folder under the gallery. I don't think the thumbnails are generally viewable separately, though I do see a lot of other media gathered up from various apps which can be kinda annoying.
No I promise I'm not zooming on the thumbnails, I'm clicking the folder with all of my pictures in it, and it'll let me zoom in on them, but they never clear up. It's not the camera cause the resolution is right, just the zooming isn't working properly. it's weird, and frustrating.
I definitely don't have the camera problem. I tested it with photos I took as well as wallpapers in my gallery. I assume you are using the gallery app, right?
If you're getting FCs on stock apps you may want to just do a factory data reset (settings/privacy). It happens occasionally to all android phones and the only sure fix I've seen is a reset. Make sure you're not using task killers or home replacement apps (pandahome, openhome, etc) as they can cause a lot of FCs in my experience.
You might have your camera resolution on lowest settings. Try a higher setting and let us know. The default resolution is 640x480.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Checked the resolution of the camera and the pictures themselved and they're both 5MP, so I really don't know what the problem is now. It is rather frustrating though, when I zoom I want to see the details of the image not a fuzzy picture. Another thing I've just had happen to me is trying to copy over a 4.5GB MKV file at 720p I got the message "The file 'Up' is too large for the destination file system" I don't get that cause I have 6GB free on the phone and 6GB free on the 16GB micro SD. My phone hates me :'(
the 4.5gb MKV isn't a Samsung issue. It's a filesystem issue, relating to the default filesystem used on the sd card memory. FAT32 has a file size limit of 4gb.
It might seem a bit frustrating that you will have to re-encode that huge MKV, but considering that you can count on the fingers of one hand the smartphones that would even be able to smoothly play the video in that container in the first place, it's a small price to pay.
I know the phone could play it, it chews through my 720p copies of Top Gear without so much as a hiccup, and they're nearly the same bit-rate. I think you're right about counting the phones that could do that though because my HD2 didn't have a chance. I didn't know fat32 had a file size limit though, that's very useful information and thank you very much for that. Any ideas on the gallery app problem?

I had/have a HD2, and now a Vibrant that I am using.
I know what you are talking about with the pictures looking pixelated on the Vibrant when you zoom in, but look fine on the HD2. I too, would like a solution to this. Maybe another app does this.
I know exactly what you're talking about and it really is quite annoying. As if losing the flash wasn't bad enough, now even my old photos look bad on it. I've figured out firstly that the stock android gallery app has a 16 bit limit but that's not the issue I'd imagine. What I believe to be the culprit is that, as far as I can tell, what the image viewer does is it actually automatically downsizes all your photos which would explain the pictures' butchered quality. Of course it's just a theory but it seems to check out. Unfortunately I have yet to find a decent replacement app or a solution thus far. And not to dash your hopes but I hear the problem also exists in froyo. Kinda disheartening for such an awesome multimedia phone.

+1.. I also know what you mean, I had the HD2 and zooming in on the pictures on this phone sucks!. I am sure there is an image viewer somewhere that would work well
Yes! Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this issue. I was beginning to think I was alone! I am by no means a developer, but I think it's probably the scaling algorithim, though it would be interesting to check it out on another phone running 2.1. Next time I activate a Captivate at work I'll check that as well, it'd be really weird if that one worked correctly!!
I've figured something out. When you look at photos in the actual camera app, and zoom in that viewer, the pictures look fine, it's only in the actual gallery app where the zoom doesn't work properly...
I definetly do not have the issue with zooming in on pictures (camera or gallery) and I have yet to have a FC on any app. You mentioned the browser, any other apps FC'ing on you?
Have you done anything (other than root if you have)?
Are you using a TK?
Can you give more details?
I know what you mean by zooming the pics. Try image viewer, its awesome and zooms in great
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Well it's only the browser that's done it, and it's only happened once to me, so I'm really not worried about that one. A power cycle took care of it right then and there. As for the zooming, like I said in the camera app itself it works fine, but in the gallery app it's not too good. I'm not rooted (yet), and I have no task killer because I've heard more bad things than good things about those. Idk how else to describe the problem, it just seems like when I zoom in it's like the file is a very low resolution and gets very pixelated and when I check the properties I know it's a 5MP picture, so idk what's going on.
Something I never noticed so I just tested and you're right!
It's the way the built in gallery app works. It creates a thumbnail of all images and that's what it displays. You can even see the thumbnail images if you explore the phone memory. The only way around it is to download and use a different image viewer.
I suggest large image viewer! It is a bit spartan in terms of features and ui but it has the best image viewing of all the apps I tried! Btw the default image viewer basically makes a lower res bitmap of all your pictures and it's impossible (I think) to actually view the original images from within the gallery app. Why it would do this? I have no clue, seems like poor programming to me. Perhaps it's the cost we pay for the nifty though relatively pointless 3d effects.

[WANTED] Camcorder/Camera Advanced Controls

Hello. For some time now I have been getting frustrated with the standard camera/camcorder for my SGS.
I will point out some of the main things I dislike
Lack of features
It's hard to take pictures or start recording unless you look at the screen to see where the button is located to initiate it
Camera closes after idle for too long
Screen controls are too close together
Files do not save if you accidentally press the back button while recording
I have searched Google, forums and the market to try and find a replacement with no success
I would love to have camera/camcorder replacement that has the following
The biggest feature for me would be to have the ability to use either of the Home/Volume/Power buttons to use the camera/camcorder at least for Record, Pause, Stop and taking pictures
This would make it so much easier to use it without having to always look at the screen to make sure you are pressing the right area and will also eliminate accidentally pressing the wrong button
For example
Home key could be used for taking pictures and start recording video pressing it again will pause it and long holding it will stop the recording and auto save.
Volume will be for zoom and power button could possible take pictures and long holding for toggle night mode or something like that
I dunno about you but I find this configuration to feel natural
In the menu there should also be the option to exit camera/camcorder as some people use home key for this instead of backing out and the home button will already have a use
All settings can be controlled via touchscreen such as:
Option to toggle the camera/camcorder from closing on idle
Image/Shooting mode
All other general settings
If anyone else thinks this is a good idea or has any further input on making this better please post something
If there is a dev out there wanting a challenge please post Perhaps if enough people are interested in raising some funds there could be a bounty
P.S I wasn't sure if I should post this in Themes and Apps or here
Sould be possible i think, Power btn already done a thing : it lock screen without stop recording...
Also cyanogenmod as a great camera app, wait for it...
Surely there is something else out there other then the cyanogenmod one.

- i hate the factory camera
I'm shocked that I'm the only one talking about this. Shame on everyone lol
Ill complain a bit too
I dislike the focus of the samsung app. Even in macro mode, you take an object from a 5cm distance and tap to focus..
it's going to focus well then lose focus. Even if take the picture when the focus is correct, it's going to output a blurred unfocused pic
The only "solution" is to take pictures with at least 10cm distance, or 15. But the camera seems to be able to picture much closer.. so it's annoying
Wow. People actually use the onboard camera? Camera 360 is what I've replaced my stock app with. But sadly stock samsung app is prob the best camera app from any dev/phone maker. What you need is a decent small camera like a canon ixus

I have not heard of 360 *Checks it online* - To tell you the truth I don't mind the camera.... I tried Vignette and Camera 360 Pro, well the 360 programs doesn't cut it, the interface is horrible and buggy.
Vignette is quite ok however - the focus works. It's missing the directional focus from the samsung app however, although I can live with it of course. Vignette also saves jpegs that are less compressed/higher quality.
To be honest i'd be just fine with Samsung's app if the focus worked fine in macro mode, and the jpegs were higher quality (maybe even make the pano mode high resolution )
Mostly because the controls/settings/etc are much better in the Samsung app.
Now since it's proprietary, not much we can do about these issues I guess xD (the button can prolly be hacked in tho)

[Q] My camera is out of focus on 3.2.1

I think my camera is busted, I was on ICS and I know there are problems on it with the camera, so I didn't pay any attention to it, but now I decided to go back to 3.2.1 and I tested the camera and it TOTAL crap out of focus and weird artifacts
here is a 100% crop of 2 photos
http://www.box.com/shared/nzhlx19uzdjzm7a92xx7
http://www.box.com/shared/2sk75k8az3i8isxnpc5o
Whenever I try to take a photo the camera makes a sounds like it is trying to focus and then goes back like it "hits" something, I also notice than if I try to take closeup photos the focus is better, like the focus is stuck at the closeup mark.
my question is there any way to fix this? if I need to open it up, does it have something that might have gotten stuck?
Thanks in advance for any info provided
EDIT: after viewing some photos on the net, I realize all of them look like mine... maybe its just a poor quality camera on the Iconia in general, oh well I was just wondering if it was only my tablet...
anyone else having this problems?
Is it possible you actually have it set on macro and forgot?
Also, can you post non-cropped pics? Cropping the image gives little frame of reference as we can't see the foreground to get a sense of depth.
Also, try wiping the lens cover. Smudges will blur out a pic, easy. [I'm sure you tried that but I thought it was worth mentioning anyways]

I have tried it ICS and in HC, they don't even have a macro option (that I can find)
here is a zip with 2 full size photos,
http://www.box.com/shared/r871n2c0j2iixxdxuhe2
I also notice something which I am not sure if its normal, I can see the little lens moving back and foward when trying to focus, but it always returns to the same position
You're right, it doesn't have a Macro setting - my mistake.
It's still not easy to tell what the problem is with those pictures. I can clearly see they are soft but I couldn't say it's out of focus since I don't know what you're focusing on.
Try this: http://photo.net/learn/focustest/ and post your results. At least this method will show an interior shot with a focused subject and give us an idea if its focusing close or far. Make sure you restore all settings to default.
Also, if you're using a ROM you might want to get in touch with that developer because some ROM can break hardware functionality.
just focused on the center of the image on all of them
I can tell you one thing-- The Iconia's camera isn't this bad. Something is wrong with yours.
My camera does show some randomly colored squares on the camera at times.. Like red and green bright squares on the screen.. Changing the mode fixes it.
I'm sorry, I know I'm probably not so helpful.

Is Gcam fully working? I cannot get it to work

I was up until 430 am last night trying different configs and Gcam APKs and the best I can do was using 6.1 or 6.2. No crashes but these 3 problems are present in every APK I tried so if there's anyone that has an APK that works for these, would love to hear it.
Problems:
1) Camera takes first picture quite fast. 2nd picture is slightly slower. 3rd and beyond is unbelievably slow. Slower than Night Sight. You can tell that the picture is being taken all at the same rate because the picture is showing up in the Gallery Icon, but the viewfinder is just loading and hanging.
What is the reason for this? (HDR Enhance is NOT on)
2) Turn off HDR+ and camera button doesn't even work. It works in Portrait and video but not in regular camera mode.
3) If I switch Cameras or modes (From regular camera to wide... or regular camera to Portrait and then back to regular) then it will take the picture fast. Which means that it's a software issue of lagging. Almost like it's lagging or having problems clearing memories while taking consecutive pictures?
Night Sight and actual photos look GREAT. Which is why it's pissing me off. The VG35 is a godly phone I just bought and I love everything about it. But the camera is lacking. And having a somewhat partially working gcam app just teases me that the picture could be better but isn't. The camera itself is good it's just the software that isn't so great.
LG's stock camera app puts on a lot of sharpness everything gets so blurry.
Any FULLY working apks out there that don't have issues with lag when taking pictures?
UPDATE: I tried cstark and a few others but the one that works for me fully (Night Sight, portrait, wide lens, correct colors, etc) is Arnova 1.7 here
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-suggested/#apk411
Arnova 1.6 also works.
So I managed to fidget with all the settings and basically... here is an update. AS IS, the Gcam with Arnova takes 2 pictures at regular speed. The 3rd picture on, it will show the circle and lag, taking about 5 full seconds to complete a picture. (There are other people on reddit who confirmed this) If you change the camera view in any way, OR press the home button and come back to camera, it resets allowing you take 2 more pictures at normal rates before it starts to slow down again.
By reducing HDR frame from 7 to 3, it allows you to take about 5 pictures before the slow down happens. So, it's not ideal but a workaround is to just take 5 pictures and press "portrait" and then come back to regular camera and it should allow for 5 more pictures at the regular rate.
HDR off also does not allow the camera to take a picture.
But that being said, does anyone know WHY it's happening? I don't know much about how android and the camera works but if we can figure out why the loading circle starts to slow down after a certain # of pictures, and WHY it resets when you change the camera view for a split second... I'd be happy to contribute in any way I can to get a fully useable Gcam app for us. V35s are so underrated with the High Quality Dac and if we get fully working Gcam, it would be a massive upgrade for anyone with a V35.
The pictures with Gcam are no joke.
The reasons for why the Gcam can only take a few pictures before it starts to load in the viewfinder very slowly, and why it resets when you "refresh" the camera view:
(These are complete uneducated guess but using logic based on what I'm been testing)
- It's not related to HDR. There was 1 apk that allowed me to take pictures with HDR off and it still did it.
I thought it was the HDR processing in the background that was queueing up but that's not the case.
- Changing camera view and switching back, RESETS this problem. Is there some sort of memory that needs to be cleared in the camera after each picture? Or after each # of pictures you can set that might address this problem?
There was another APK that I used that had the ability to increase the memory and it didn't do anything.
- I have a feeling it might be related to the buffer fix issue. The buffer fix, fixed the lag in the view finder. However, after taking a few pictures and hitting the limit, you can tell the loading circle will start to slow down because the viewfinder for a split second will lag as if the buffer fix was turned off.
So, maybe buffer fix is being reset or paused after a few pictures?
I wish I knew more about this stuff but if anyone has any ideas, would be great.
I read somewhere that the LG V35 and the G7 have similar cameras.
Check the G7 gcam thread for more info and assistance

Thank you Ill check out that thread
Thanks destoyer67, I was able to get a better Gcam situation using that link.
Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_BF_V2.2.2beta2.190904.1817
from https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-arnova8G2-beta/#apk1121
This is the one that works very well. There is .a work around for the camera shutter loading really slow after 2 pictures.. and that is the setting called Reinit for HDR+. Just turn it on and after every time you take a picture, your camera and viewfinder will reinitialize and blink for a split second. Every picture taken is fast. You just have to wait a full second in between pictures or so.
Its way better and more useable and waiting 6 seconds for each picture.
Night Sight works without ANY lag, so does portrait, wide angle, etc.
Things that do not work at all:
- HDR Off mode
- Flash (goes off doesnt take a picture)
This is a useable version for me.
I also also narrow down and say the shutter loading slow is caused by something in the "buffer fix" setting. If you turn off buffer fix, the camera will take a picture INSTANTLY. Like the stock LG cam. However, the viewfinder has that crazy lag so you cant see what you're taking a picture of.
i tried above but when its low light it freezes. i'm on at&t v350 /w PIE (20c)

Are you on Pie or Oreo?
Mine's on Pie(20s) and everything works relatively well except for images taken with the wide angle lens: the red and blue color channels seem to be swapped, making photos looking weird.

I'm having the same issue. Is there a fix for this? Tried playing around with the settings but couldn't land on a solution.

OK, so I spent all day trying a bunch of versions, and finally found the one version that can get rid of the color issue and the lag between shots. Here it is:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-arnova8G2-beta/#apk1114
With this one, make sure to enable both the "Use Restart for AUX Mod" and "Use Reinit for HDR+" settings in the "HDR+ control" menu. Make sure to enable the AUX button as well, and disable Google photos. You'll see the screen go black a little bit after taking a photo, and then you can take another one and switch cameras. When you switch cameras, it reinits the camera app, which gets rid of the channel swap issue. For some reason the other version that was linked has an issue when both these settings are enabled, but it works great with this version.

Glad someone finally found the right one, but the link you gave us only leads to a list of many gcam apks, which one exactly did you mean? Also, by disabling google photos, you mean that we have to disable it completely or just disable it somehow from gcam?
The version that I linked to blinks when you first open the page. It's V2.2.1.190831.2245-fix-2. As far as disabling Google photos, it's a setting inside the camera app that uses Google photos as the viewer when you look at the photo you just took. However, this integration doesn't work, so disable that so it uses the built in viewer. You'll also need to go to the About screen in settings and turn on advanced options to see most of the settings I've listed.
Thanks! It really works great, taking pictures is fast and even night mode is quick.
Good job on finding this

Hello,
I have found this version works on the V35.... Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_BF_V2.2.1.190831.2245-fix2.apk. Wide Angle, Regular, Night Sight. However getting the white balance just right for both indoors and outdoors is not easy, so I I actually use a dual install combo for slightly better results:
OUTDOORS/Regular - Gcam_6.1.021_Advanced_BF_V1.6-Fu24_5Lens-02.apk - With this version I can customize sharpness without loading custom libs, etc. White balance is yellow indoors, and Night Sight has buffer problems so I don't use it.
INDOORS/Night Sight - Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_BF_V2.2.1.190822.1145.apk - This version does well indoors with Night Sight... outdoor photos are pinkish however
You *should* be able to install both these versions without overwriting each other...

Near as I can tell this works perfect after following the indicated settings. No need for a buffer fix module, it's built in. Night sight works, viewfinder works properly in wide / normal etc etc.
thanks for mentioning it, there are so so many available that *might* work, a daunting task to try them all.
