[Q] Bluetooth headset and Skype/VOIP software - Galaxy Tab General

I tried to use Nokia BH=503 Bluetooth headset with GTAB and it works fine, but I cannot answer calls on skype/nimbus
I have to answer on the tablet, and then switch to headset.
Is there any way to answer a call from any SIP application from a Bluetooth headset ?

I have tried some BT headset, and I encountered the same problem. Skype cannot work with them. However, I tried Nokia BH905 BT headphone, it works for both phone and Skype. So, I think the issue doesn't lies on the Skype apps, rather, I think it is the compatibility of the BT headset/headphone.

Nokia used to be notorious for not adhering to bluetooth "standards" with their devices, this is potentially still the case with some of their units. They'd work fine with Nokia phones but often with minor caveats with other brands, so different models might have different "issues".

Actually my Jabra bt530 easily pairs on Sipdroid, no luck on Skype thou

Skype is not using a bluetooth headset profile, just A2DP so you will get sound, but the microphone will still be the one on the Tab.
Regards,
Dave

Hi Dave, I used the voice test on Skype (away from the tab), it works. When I leave my tab on my bed and I was having conversation with my headphone in the toilet, it works. Do I need to say more.
I too suspect that no BT headphone can work with Skype, but it happens, I am happy.

I believe that there are some headsets out there that can supply a mic input over A2DP, but most cannot it would seem. I only say this because I've heard anecdotal stories of some users being able to use a BT headset with Skype, but the vast majority cannot.
The general difference seems to be using a stereo headset, though I don't have a stereo headset which has a mic so I can't check.

Dave

Yes, as mentioned, I tried Motorola, no way. Maybe it is because the model can support both mono Headset and Hands Free profiles and stereo A2DP and AVRCP. Or maybe it has a dual microphone for making voice calls ??????
There is a new model, BH-905i, I think if you guys love music and travel quite a bit, I think this is a good headphone to consider. Battery life is superb as well. I used it to play games too, and it has amazing sound without actually disturbing your neighbours.

Upgrade Pocket Bluetooth Tools 1.0.1.2

The current version 1.60 of the ROM includes already a virtual serial port but unfortunately it is a dynamic port, which is not visible to many applications. Also the ActiveSync support is difficult and complicated to use and if you want to synchronize with different computers you have always to couple the device again.
For future releases I plan the following improvements:
Support for Bluetooth headsets
Support for Bluetooth network access points
Send contacts and files through Bluetooth
http://www.angeltowns.com/town/bluetooth/
i am looking also for handsfree bluetooth support if any help on that
Yeah, headset works fine, it's the handsfree profile we need, that's the one adding enhanced features....
Do you know why some headsets work better than others? I understand that the profile does not work and therefore you can not use the functions on the headsets, but I'm curious if your recent fix will help headsets such as the Jabra BT250 communicate better with the device. The HBH-65 has no issues, but Jabra does note, often very slow to connect. I like the Jabra because I can hear better-age you know.

Maybe because of the headsets itself ? I bought a HBH-35 and can do [/quote]anything with it, walk out of range and back, turn it off and on, reset the MDA, chanrge the headset etc etc. without having to re-pair...

What headset-functions do you mean ? Caller ID ? Voicedial etc. ?
That's not in the headsetprofile, that's in the handsfree profile. the headsets with enhanced functions use the handsfreeprofile also, nut just the headsetprofile...
downloaded and installed 1.0.1.2 fantastic my new bt gps works! However I can not use my gps and hbh-65 headset at the same time, any ideas please
Simply stated I was wondering if the new blutooth fix might help the Jabra BT250 work better. I know other headsets work without issue, but Jabra seems to have some problems, and I doubt that this is a Jabra problem, I believe it is a BT Device profile issue.
Can I have another link to the software cause the link is blocked from my ISP, or can any body upload it here or any other palce...
Best regards,,,
I have a new HBH-200, it works ok to answer a call but all the other features are not working, such as caller number etc.
Like i said; It's not i the headsetprofile. The headsetprofile doesn't do much except making a wireless headset possible. Answer, dosconnect and talk and listen, that's all...
Everyting else is in the handsfreeprofile (handsfree is used for advanced options for headsets and carkits)...
Link down????? :?:
not for me
Handfree Profile
I have 2 phones, XDA II and a Nokia 8910i.
My bluetooth Headset is the Ericsson HBH65.
To my surprise, I have paired the HBH65 with both phones and I am able to receive calls from both phones (not at the same time of course) without any problems. Whichever phone rings first get the use of the HBH65. In conflicts however, the Nokia seems to have priority over the XDAII, which is fine with me, but I am so happy that it actually works.
As others are mentioning, I am really missing the enhanced functions of the Handsfree Profile. Can anyone suggest any solution or perhaps work on resolving this issue as a lot of people are waiting for this. I was aware that Towas was planning to release a new version to his BT Stack Fix, has he got anywhere with that by any chance? or anyone else?

Bluetooth problems

Hi.
I have one HTC TYTN and one bluetooth headset but I only have sound in the phone function.
I don't have any sound with media player, ring tones and other sound programs, but with phone calls the BT (Bluetooth) works fine.
I can hear in HTC, but not in BT
I try with
NOKIA BH600
MOTOROLA H350
JABRA BT135
Is this a problem from my HTC or they don't work at all??
Thanks
Fmpm
BT only working with Phone
I have a similar problem. Tried with a Motorola HS850. BT Only works with the phone, not the PDA, and certainly not with Skype. Using the "Hands Free" profile.
Can anyone confirm a BT headset that works with the PDA side (i.e. Skype)?
I have also heard that BT headphones with AD2P profiles will work, but they won't fit in your pocket.

Depends on what you mean by "pocketable". For example, my Plantronics 590A is collapsable and some other A2DP headphones don't have a headband at all.
Please DO check out my A2DP-related articles either on my blog or here in the General forum - I elaborate on these questions a LOT in there.

Use either BlueMusic (see my related article on this title) or BTAudio (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280353 )

Bluetooth headset problem

I just bought a headset for my Atom Exec and I can't work it all out, I want to listen to music from the memory card so I have set the bluetooth to Hands Free, Wireless Stereo and headset, all three are ticked. All is working fine but the only problem I have is when the phone rings you can only here it through the stereo headphones which makes sence but I can see this causing problems if I put the headphones down, I will miss calls as I want hear the phone ringing. Is there a way to make the phone ring also threw the speaker on the phone as well while using the headphones?
Unfortunately I don't think so. If you turn the Stereo Headset profile on all sound is routed to the headset. If someone knows how it would be great.
What you can do instead is set the phone to vibra + ring mode so that if you don't have the headset on, at least the phone will still shake.
hi Seal,
which bluetooth headset did you get? i'm asking because i just got the atom (not exec) and can't get the BT to work as a wireless headset - it only works when making calls.
also, you mentioned 'wireless stereo' checkbox, i don't see this option in the atom but it could be an exec feature.
thanks.
Hi, I bought the Plantronics, I use them every day and love them, it is such a great thing to not have wires hanging around.
http://www.plantronics.com/australia/aus/products/cat5180067/cat5620033/prod29780013
"I has an Atom", and I also have a mono, ordinary Bluetooth headset (Planex BT-03HS).
Seal: try turning off the Wireless Stereo profile, then getting this program called BlueMusic by Teksoft - it has an option you can uncheck that will allow the ringtone to come through its original source instead, while still routing music through your BT.
Yes, the program can do this even in unlimited trial mode - however, it only puts your music back on the BT band after a call in full-mode. I have no idea if this will work on stereo headphones like yours, but it's worth a shot.
Slamming_Sammy: With BlueMusic I can pipe stuff from TCPMP to bluetooth headset - which supports only handsfree - just fine, whilst still not missing a call. BlueMusic emulates the A2DP protocol so your phone doesn't have to. There's actually a free binary out there called BTAudio (which Bluemusic is based on), but its less stable than Bluemusic when it comes to disconnects and receiving calls.
Oh, and by the way, the Atom does support Wireless Stereo (A2DP). However, you can ONLY see it if your bluetooth headset has the profile as well (mine doesn't by the way). AFAIK only stereo headsets have this; even the newest BT2.0 mono headsets don't.
thanks a lot Ultimate. I was just about to try btaudio which by the way, works great, so I won't try bluemusic yet. so you're saying if my BT headphone is A2DP capable then I wouldn't need to run btaudio to route audio to my headset?
thanks.
Yes, that's what I'm saying.
Bluetooth stereo headsets are expensive, tho, AND the Atom is known to have dodgy A2DP support (except with BT2.0 devices), so you might want to hold out on the purchase.

x7500 phone experience...

Mine should be arriving tomorrow
What are you guys using for phone calls: the included wired earbud, bluetooth headset or just the speakerphone?
Do most bluetooth headsets out there work with the included bluetooth stack?
Thanks!
Bluetooth all the way!
I am using the Plantronics Voyager 510 headset works the best for me great battery life, volume etc.
Bluetooth 99% of the time, rarely use the speakerphone. (Which does, however, work well.)
I use the BlueAnt V12, which has a vibrate feature... which is userful since the phone doesn't have one built-in. It also has an LCD, which I find useful. Displays status, phone numbers, but no names. But I seem to know most numbers, and if I don't that's also informative.
BlueAnt V12 has also a great price, around $50.
Jawbone Bluetooth works great.
I have no problems with the Jabra BT800, which also has vibrate, lcd and 6 individual ringtone settings plus the one from the Ameo. Works flawlessly.

Excellent!
So if my BT headset goes dead, the x7500 will continue fine as a phone? Will the speakerphone be automatically activated whenever I initiate/receive a call?

Yes. It takes about 5 seconds for the X7500 to realise there's no active BT connection and reroute to the speakers.

Thanks for the warning. I am just about to try 1.6 on my Jawbone.
Found this comment here - http://www.wmexperts.com/reviews/bluetooth_headsets/review_aliph_jawbone_bluetooth.html
Try creating the registry key:
HKLM\software\microsoft\voice command\speech\BluetoothPTTDelay
value = dword: 2000
Stop and start Voice Command.
I have found that this makes Voice Command 1.6 work great with the Jawbone even in the noisiest enviornments. This will open up the audio channel for 2 seconds before starting a voice command interaction as opposed to the 400ms that is the default. I think possibly the Jawbone is adapting to the ambient noise during this time. This seems to make a big difference though.
Let me know if this helps as my Jawbone will be arriving shortly.
Anyone used a stereo headset and liked it? I wouldn't mind having one that would go one ear for calls and a simple way to use both for listening to music/movies.

Why do you need to go through all athat gymnastics? I just installed voice command and it worked with Jawbone without any issues. I can't complain about battery life because I use my jawbone and Athena as regular phone, even in my open office. Maybe total 2 hours +- 30 minutes. Don't need 6 hours talk time yet I have never run out of battery yet. I charge both devices every night.

Adventures in Bluetooth

Ok, I have the T-Mobile Tab, I have Skype and Google Voice working via 3G and Wifi but here is the issue...
I have tried 4 different wireless bluetooth headsets and they all react the same... They connect and pair with no issues BUT...
When you place a call the other callers voice is routed, as it should be, to the BT headset, however, my voice is not routed through the BT microphone and it uses the Tab's built in mic...
This is pretty unacceptable as you can imagine and pretty much defeats the purpose of a BT headset...
Any ideas, thoughts, or help on how to get the Tab to route voice via the BT headset as opposed to it's built in mic would be MUCH appreciated!!!!
Thanks in advance!
This was kind of discussed in another thread. Current thinking is that they modified the profile to not support a mic on the BT headset.
Until someone creates a patch, update or a custom rom, there probably won't be a solution.
This is the price we pay for getting the new toys right away. Once the dev's start rolling out the mods, I am sure it will be corrected.

Whilst this may be true for US Tabs, FWIW bluetooth headset profiles do not work with Skype on Euro Tabs either.
I've been trying it out this afternoon, and whilst my headset (well, wristset to be totally accurate) works fine for regular cellular calls, when I try to use Skype I only get audio out.
If I check the options for the connected device in the bluetooth settings, I have both Media and Phone profiles checked. If I uncheck Media, I no longer even get audio out with Skype (though regular phone calls still work ok on the headset), which shows that Skype is not using the Phone profile at all.
So, I suggest you look at the options for your bluetooth device to see if it even has the option for Phone. If it does, it seems that the headset profile is still there and it is actually Skype which is not using it.
Regards,
Dave
If you read some of the comments here, it seems that Skype for Android doesn't support bluetooth anyway.
Regards,
Dave
Thanks for the info man. I'll check it out on my Sprint GT.
Wonder if it's possible to put the Samsung Galaxy S BT on the Tab?
It is because the sound of these apps is being routed via the A2DP profile and not Headset provide is you are hearing the sound via the BT headset but the mic used is the Tab's

Since my headset didn't work with Skype at all with the Phone profile awhen I switched of the Media (A2DP) profile, I doubt a non-A2DP headset will help.
The problem is Skype doesn't use the phone profile.

I dont think its limited to skype either. I tried two other programs last night, neither one had working mic.
Sent from my SGH-T849 using XDA App
BT works just fine within Skype when using it on my MacBook Pro and my iMac.... The only issues I am having is on the Tab...
I wonder if it would be possible to flash or install the euro BT .apk?

Why? Still won't work because the problem is with Skype on Android - it does not use the phone BT profile.

No BT Headset Profile in any of the US Galaxy Tabs
The reason that none of can use their Bluetooth headsets with a program like Skype (or better yet, Line2, which I am a beta tester for) is that the Amrican carriers ripped out the ability to use BT Headset profile. Now some headset (such as te Jabra Stone) uses Audio profile, so it will work with the GalaxyTab, but we definitely need someone to break that an hack in a great fix so that we can get Line2, install it on the Tab, then us Bluetooth Headsets to do our communcating. This because the best (and cheapest) phone/data device in the world at that point. Is anyone working on that?
