T-Mobile or Verizon with NVIDIA Tegra 2 - Galaxy S II General

I am leaving this as a placeholder for any info you guys might find specific to the NVIDIA Tegra 2 model coming out for T-Mobile or Verizon. We may not have any such news for a while but let's see what you guys can bring to the table. Any predictions and comments are most definitely welcome.

Samsung/XDA part2

I haven't forgot about you guys. Today we had a meeting with XDA owners via telephone. Were just getting everything ready before we make a huge announcement. I told you guys I'm NOT going to let you guys down. Just be a little patient.
Hey John, I'm thinking about taking the plunge on getting the Motorola Atrix. But, I would rather get the new Samsung Galaxy S 2. But, Samsung won't say when to expect it in the U.S. and we'll see it in euro/Asia by the end of February. The other concern I have is will Samsung support their devices better this year by having quicker update releases?

Disappointed to see the other thread is closed. My feedback for Samsung would be as follows:
Samsung Tab buyers invested a lot of their hard earned dollars to purchase your first tablet product and many are locked into 2 year carrier agreements. As such we expect that Samsung will support their product with regular platform updates as they are available (Gingerbread and Honeycomb being examples). We realize Samsung doesn't have a crystal ball to ensure exsisting hardware can always support future versions of Android but we also don't expect our devices to be stuck in time.
Thanks,
Richard

[News] No Android 5.0 upgrade for Galaxy S II

As stated by GSMArena website there will be no Android 5.0 update for Galaxy S2 and obviously should apply to the variants too.
Although this news is leaked from the company's insider, it may be true. This news may be highly disappointing to many. Here's the link. Go ahead check it out.

Honestly, did anyone ever expect Android 5.0 to be officially released for our device?

No.. I'm still waiting for the premium pack for 4.1.2 although ! Multitask is not available yet
Thanks for making another thread to tell us. There was a shortage of them.
Extra kudos for linking to gsmarea, rather than the source.

3 major upgrades for a 2 year old phone still put Samsung as one of the better ones in terms of upgrades ...
jelly bean 4.2.2 is definitely the latest that i expected.
the s2 is too old but still good.
morover the most of us will get a new phone very soon because of the contracts.
and this phone will get android 5 or higher in the future.
Gonna upgrade to another manufacturer i think...since the uk galaxy s4 will be a snapdragon based model and not the octocore we were hoping for...key lime pie will be nice.

Still not sufficient. A 650€ flagship should be supported more than 2 years and 2 poor versions. Ics & JB...
Or at least let the community do their job...
I totally agree, and don't understand the attitude of some people here... I didn't buy the phone just to replace it at the end of contract. It's still working perfect and I don't see the need for a replacement. Samsung should just let the community handle the updates if they are to lazy to do it themselves.
S2 till it dies, and when it does, another s2.
Fu*k it, I'll buy a couple s2 when they get 300 bucks cheap here (It's still at 600 bucks unbranded, 400 branded, crazy).

we can have it by custom roms.
as expected from samsung, they only care about selling phone and now, if you want android 5 you need to buy and s4,,,shane on you samsung

Dude they updated it from 2.3.6 up to 4.1.2 and they will update it to 4.2.2. Some Galaxy devices havent got any update. Just some bugfixes.
I hate samsung for that, but i love touchwiz and their hardware

Ok, chill out now, no need to get sentimental.
I really wanna see 5.0 and what it's all about, I'm somewhat skeptical on the gigant upgrade that would represent against JB.
If a couple of devs make it work with no issues on their ROMs I don't see why we can't lobby up and ask for that update.
I mean, samsung devs vs xda devs...I'm sticking with our troops.
One thing's for sure, if the galaxy nexus gets it, I'll burn tires right in front of Samsung.

that's too bad..
Yes, if Samsung would now release all the sources (required by the license) we could keep upgrading our devices on our own. The S2 community has done a fabulous job, and we would get some disaffected devs back if we had all the sources. This is still a great phone. I'd hazard to say that there aren't many (any?) other 2 year old phones that still run this well on the "latest" software. I agree it might be still going strong in 4 years. Due to Samsung's intransigence however I think my next has to be Nexus. But it's hard to justify giving this up. Despite a faded screen, and reduced capacity of the battery, it still screams smoothly!

[Q] Will we get the Snapdragon 800?

Since the 800 goes into production in late may do you think Samsung will update the galaxy s4 or just put that into the note 3 and release this summer?
Knowing that the 800 is out there and coming soon I just can't bring myself to get a 600 even though
It's plenty fast.
We probably won't get that I think the note 3 will have the octa core that the international s4 has

Yup. Exactly.
I would guess that Samsung will go with their own chip set (Exynos) in future phones as soon as they get production figured out. However, the next Sony Android smartphone is supposed to have the Snapdragon 800 for the fall.
I've seen stuff for Note 3 calling for a 2ghz Octa. Only rumors at this point though.

Don't forget the Motorola X Phone as well...at least I think thats the name. That phone will have the 800 and also be sporting a 4000+mAh battery according to what I've read so far.

[Q] Confused - I9500 or I9505

Been reading a lot about their differences and still can't get a clue as which one to buy. Its been more than a month since S4 is released and generally speaking, I am looking to buy S4 not specifically to use 4G, but for general use, mostly apps, a few games (not a hardcore mobile gamer) and also interesting mods.
The other day I came across a game for android specially mentioning it will work only in Adreno GPU. This quite surprised and confused me as to if in future, apps and games will be customised based on CPU/GPU?
Provided the issues that have been reported, mainly the overheating and battery drain, is it wise to wait for a month or two so that Samsung release a second production batch of S4 with these issues fixed? Or there won't any hardware fixes for S4 anymore?
So which model has a better future? (leaving the 4G part).
Hope I get a reply as I am sure the highly knowledgeable and vast users of this forum can help ease my confusion.

Either version is good. If you need help making up your mind read one of the hundred threads already on xda about this.

Well, I only planning to buy an S4 and only confused due to different models in S4. And if the Snapdragon 800 model is going to be out in say 2 months or less, I guess its worth the wait?
P.S. No time to wait until S5 launches

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Gets Lollipop Today in Hungry!?!?!

Alright so I saw this article and thought lets get the XDa community together and find a new friend in Hungry.
http://phandroid.com/2015/12/07/samsung-galaxy-note-4-marshmallow-upgrade/
Has anyone confirmed this is real yet, have the international forums blown up?
Does the Hungry version of the Note 4 have the same internal hardware as the T-Mobile version?
Either way if this is true Ports will be coming soon.

It's not lollipop, it's MM. I also posted the link from an article early today in a thread below this one.
On that note, I will close this thread and maybe redirect the discussion over there.
