Maybe your partition is not big enough?

big enough. i say its 800mb free

Yes , You have 800 mb but on general partion.Check out how much space you have on ext partitions.
I check it in the easiest way without anyy software.I'm connectin WF to my TV and get in USB and there are few drivers to choose then check info about and here it is.
Or with some kind of software in PC

Internal 25mb free, External (SD) 837mb free.

I advice you to make a quite bigger Internal and then check out'em

Moving to SD does not move the whole app to SD many times. Internal memory is occupied too, maybe 25 mb is too less? What's the exact error msg that its giving?

Have the same problem.
As far as i know APP2SD doesnt use the ext partition (just the Darktremor Apps2SD does) - but the APP uses the Froyo/Gingerbread buildin function and just saves some amount of the Apps to the SD card.
Somehow it worked for me if i try it a 2nd time (or after restarting the device in begin - after it worked fine for me).
But sometimes if I install apps it also tells me - not enough space - and i have 37MB internal left - even the app is just about 500kb.... - anyway it also works if i just try agains ome seconds later.
Annoying - but perhaps also works for u

Could you also tell us how 2 make bigger internal !??! If I dont want to disasemble my device and replace a chip?
As far as i know u just can get bigger internal space by moving apps or systemparts to the SD card... and thats where he has problems.
(But yes many custom roms already do it a bit: dalvik cache,.. - but u need 2 reflash another rom.... not part of this discussin atm i think)

i didnt have any problems with 2.3 nightly 49# and other nightlys or even 2.2 roms. But with new 2.3 RC1 i have these problems. so im moving to other rom

NAND DFT - Sense and free space issues

Firstly, amazing day, finally been able to get rid of winmo and get android into my NAND.
Sadly, i keep running into free space issues which is a bit frustrating. Im sure it might be something i am doing (or not doing), but was wondering if i am alone. As far as details, im running UK HD2, with DFT - SENSE rom flashed into my NAND and radio 2.15. I had no problems with the flash process and the phone generally works well.
I have apps2sd running and it says there are no apps that can be moved to the SD so i have everything where it should be. My SD is listed as 6.1gb free but internal memory is 115in use and about 38mb free. I cant even get copilot to install as it just says there is no space left (although i was running the .apk from the sd to install on the sd).
Could this be because i was previously using the sd card for android? Anyone else having these issues?
Thanks.

Hi
Did you try titanium backup to move apps from nand to SD, it should be better to give it a try...

I just get free space only 99 mb on my hd2, i want to know why each device don't be got free space as same as ones.
My hd2 runs in Colluta's desire nand rom.

This is not a problem with you guys, it's just with the 512 limit of our devices.
Be patient and someone /Cotulla/ will fix it so that we can install to SD card.
BTW
I just downloaded move2sd and it works just fine. Now my apps go to the sd and i've moved all possible apps to sd.
I am left with 82 mb which should be enough for txt and logs...
Im glad im not by myself with this. I guess the solution will come when the devs get chance to get ext4 up and running on our sd cards as data.img, that way the problem goes away. apps2sd/titanium etc are all fine, but if you have a lot of apps then you will always be in the situation i am of bouncing off the warning of low space.
The only problem is now the low space...
Hope the devs can add a partition from the SD that functions as the internal memory.
And people with 1024leo's should stfu. It's like saying to a blind person.. hah that's weird I can see perfectly fine.

Totally agree with the ignorant TMOUS owners saying they have no problems. I used to put a 4gb data.img in with my builds to make sure I had plenty of space. Still early days so lets wait for TMOUS users to come forward saying they have used up all their memory.
Putting that aside, the same problem happens with most other devices. I suppose using Android from SD card we had the luxury of choosing how big data.img to have. Now we are in the same boat as other Android handsets with the exception we cant go into recovery mode. If we could go into recovery mode then we could partition the SD card into two partitions. One for sd card usage like music, pictures etc and the other partition as ext3 to expand the phone memory onto the sd card.
If Cotulla or the DFT enables us to use our device in recovery mode, maybe they should only make it for HD2 Europe devices, seeing as TMOUS owners are all saying they have plenty of memory.
Google Earth and Flash Player are killing me.
They still hold much space after moving to sd.
Looking forward to app2ext.

Sorry man, not tring to be ignorant, I do love my TMo HD2. Ido agree with you on the ext3. I have my N1 w/a2sd and its awesome, no need to worry about space.I had about 95+ apps at one time and still had 150mb free of internal. Im guessing once we get a recovery img. we can then get the ext3 and a2sd working as it should. I have clockworks recovery on my N1 and works awsome. You can Backup any part of your rom even your ext3. Also Amon_RA's recovery is good too cause it has PSfreedom implemented, for those looking at PSFreedom Modds

What we should do with low internal memory? step back to sd? :(

Hi
first off all I should thanks all developers of hd2 andriod who are the reason that we are always excited with our Hd2.
After Refreshing xda site for every 3 hours to see the nand release I finally managed to get the news...
After installing the nand version I was so excited speed was great battery life superb and extremely stable
so I have started migrating from my ram version to nand version
Soon I was installing my apps from market until I reached an error that I've never seen before "LOW MEMORY " I was shocked I checked the space and saw I only had 1 mb free space
I searched the forum and found out that some users has 100mb while some had 600mb free after installation, I thought it might be my and other mistakes which led to 100mb but after reading more I've found all 512mb rom HD2 will have 100mb free internal memory after installation
So if its gonna be like that I think I should step back to SD version only coz of internal memory,
I wanna know your suggestions.. or solution? Ive already tried moving some apps to sd but guys.... not all of them have the ability....

well hope the Devs will get EURO HD2 owners a ext4 partition on SD that will act as internal memory... i guess its being thought about.
in the meanwhile use apps like move2sd to install apps to SD...
oh i have LEO1024 no issues here
I just flashed the NEXUSHD2 and i have 216 mb of free space, that is more than enough for me.
i have like 700mb
I think that this thread is not for boasting about your Leo1024, but it rather raises an important issue. While ROMs from NAND are a big step ahead, running out of space is a serious problem, especially today, when apps can take about 20-30 mb (i.e. Opera Mobile 10, Firefox 4 with cache).
I see three possible solutions to this problem:
- using native froyo apps2fat, while being problematic, it's simple and available out of the box
- wait for developers to allow us to use data.img on our SD Card, like in good old SD Card builds
- or use apps2ext like all other Android users do (when it'll be possible).
Just down the App 2 SD app off market and move all the apps you downloaded to sd and that should free up your internal memory

216 mb of free space for me to, with the exact same ROM.
this has been an issue since back in the days of the G1, not enough internal memory, this is why a lot of the newer android devices come with a bigger internal memory, apps2sd will solve the problem, so you can install apps on the sd card instead of the internal memory. You need to add it before you start to install apps to keep the internal memory at max.
I went into the system folder and deleted stuff i didnt need like ringtones, alarms, notifications, wallpapers. Left me with some amount of space but yeah, the real solution are apps that move apps to sd.
You guys are in luck. Takaaki has posted a test build he made for himself that can store the data on the sd card. You can even use your old hd2one data.img if you have used it before.

[Q] HOW TO INSTALL ANDROID APPS TO MicroSD CARD, INSTEAD TO PHONE MEMORY?

OK..I've done everything, installed DFT Android ROM for HTC LEO etc...everything seems to be working fine, BUT..((
Most of the apps from Market or any other cannot be moved from Phone memory to SD card, thus consuming all phone memory very fast, and disabling me to install any more apps...and we all know that Android rules just because there are so many apps for it...
So, my question is: is there any possible way of making Android install apps to SD card, rather then phone memory? 'Cause this way, my 16Gig card isn't much of use on Android )
Please help, because there is no point in having Android on this device, if I can install only so many apps on phone memory...
Very thankful in advance....
Greeting from remote Bosnia ))
Which Rom are you using?
I am using Hyperdroid and it allows me to move apps to SD.
And they are working fine.
I'm using Desire ROM...from DFT 2.2 Froyo..
And this one also allows moving apps, but just some, not all.....
Could anyone be as kind as to point me to a ROM with Sense that allows moving all apps to SD card?

The best method would be to create an ext partition for your phone. ALL the apps that would normally installed on the phone will be moved onto this partition on your SDcard, saving you space. However, the trade off is speed. It will be slightly slower, but I don't think you'll even notice the speed difference day-to-day.
You can follow my guide here on how to make an ext partition without losing your data on your SDcard. It should only take like 5min to do. [HOW-TO] Make Ext4 from Recovery Without Losing FAT32 Data
well, there are some apps on the market that allows u to move all the installed apps in the internal memory to the storage card.
Try App 2SD Enabler. When you run the app, be sure to read the instructions.
If that doesnt work, Titanium Backup has a function in it that allows you to move any installed app u want from internal to storage memory (when u open the app, press Menu and then Batch. There should be an option somewhere there)
edit: keep in mind that some apps such as widgets, have to be on the internal memory to work properly. The Ext4 method is good if u want to increase the internal memory (by sacrifasing some storage memory), but you won't be able to connect your phone to the pc via Mass Storage. Plus, if it's the method with the 3 partitions(tbh i don't know if it's just for the 3partition method or any partition number), some of the storage card will be used from the OS as well, making the removal of the SD card impossible.
I would recommend App 2 SD. I use it to move all the apps it can to the SD card and it really does free up a lot of space.
Does Titanium Backup allow all apps to be moved too SD card? Just curious because Apps2SD doesnt move all apps to the SD card just some of them from my experience..
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
The original DFT Desire ROM wasnt rooted correctly so use Z4Root from market then try using apps like Titanium and App2SD etc etc.
As an alternative, if you like sense but without all the bloat and lag try the rom in my signature, its a stripped down version oh DesireHD it flies like **** of stick and has all the best bits of sense
Try a different ROM
The DFT rom was also my first, but the internal memory filled up in no time and made it unusable for me.
In my experience, if you move an app to the SD card, some residual data goes onto the internal memory so you will find that you still use it up. As mentioned above, you will need to put certain apps and all widgets on the internal memory anyway.
I would go for a 'clean' rom that gives you plenty of free memory. You should then have no problem with it filling up. Titanium backup (free from market) is a good app, although Apps2SD (also free) is good as it lets you know how much space you have left.
I settled on the prj rom in my signature as it gives 180Mb free space from install and everything works as it is based on the DFT rom with minimal tweaks. There are plenty of clean roms out there, so try some out.
The best solution really for EU HD2's (512MB) is to use a rom that supports Data2SD as that actually extends your internal memory to the partition on SD card so you have say 1GB of internal memory, this is much better then any other current methods as its much more compatible with apps.
Also, dont mess about with Gpartid or other partition apps, You can use CWR to do it, just partition 1GB and then choose 0 for swap. (unless told otherwise by dev).
Thanks everyone, really...
I did this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931126
Partitioned the card during setup and now I have 1Gig, which is OK..also the ROM is really stable and fast.... Try this, I'm quite happy, it works great and it is an upgraded version of DFT Desire ROM... Cheers!!!

How can I expand my internal storage?

?? What ROM r u using ??
The easiest way is using application or script that move application to SD card. These things will move your application to your sd card and not wasting your internal memory. it's work perfectly fine.
There are many script available - chose one that match your ROM cause not all script are working perfectly to every ROM.
try search using A2SD and ....... (your ROM) to see which one work and which one donot...... Unfortunately i have to tell u that some script might working well with someone's phone (even u have the same ROM).
The second way is to install the app to SD program, like link2sd, app2sd... it's free on the market. Also this program is not working on everyone's phone. However it's easier to install.
after install script and application there might be a problem like low sound, lag, internet issue etc. so check that everything is Ok after u do anything.
I can't give u a step by step 'cause i dont know which ROM r u using.....

it's different for roms indeed. generally we have app2sd, app2sd+(aka app2ext), data2ext, d2sd, ad2sdx and so on.
the most basic and convenient 1 is link2sd from play store~
i think it's impossible to expand an internal storage. capacity is fixed. i read somewhere that some of space will be used for kernel and ROMs wil use another some of internal memory space to copy system files. so normally you will have internal memory available around 150-200MB depends on partition layout you make. the only way if you want to install many application is as mentioned above to move your application to SDcard, and i think link2sd app is the easiest way to do that

[Q] Unable to move apps to external SD on rooted phone

Hi!
So yeah i have a rooted i9505
When i select the option move to SD card it loads about a minute and says its on the SD card
But its still on the internal phone memory (well sometimes a few mbs of huge GBs games.
I also tried Link2SD and created a second EXT2 partition on my sd card and it said everything was correct
But even after "linking" the apps and it says they are linked correctly its still on the internal memory
How can i solve this?
I also already formated the card in the phone itself
Thanks

As for your first paragraph, it is working exactly as it is supposed to. In that regard there is nothing to solve.
As for the second, are you entirely sure that you're not merely viewing the symlinks that point to your sd card?

Well when i "Link" them to the ext sd partition and i look at downloaded apps or all apps it says 1 gb free
But when i look at "storage" it still says 1 gb free but the bar above shows almost about 1/4 free from 9.23 gb
So i think it maybe works but storage and apps still says its on internal?

Very strange
Edit
I rebooted the device after relinking in link2sd and now the dissapeared game is back in the list but now also the bar shows almost full so it was indeed because of the game
but i still cant get them on the partition while it says its there
