[Q] Can't install ClockworkMod Recovery - v1.3 on HD2 - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi there everyone!
I'm almost a noob in android and am trying to install ClockworkMod Recovery for HD2 - v1.3. I followed the instructions that are in this thread but I can't install because it always gives me this error ...
An error has occurred
Read below for more information
Error Description: Config load failed.
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (725)
Error Description: CONFIG: file not exist
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (359)
I think it's because I didn't copied the files initrd.gz and zImage to the card, but the zip does not have these files ...I'm trying to install the 150MB partition.
Can someone help me please?

What operating system are you using?
Windows Xp, Vista, or 7?

windows 7.
I've already tried to run de DAF.exe as admin, compatibility mode but no luck...

i don't know if ther is some conection but i'm using MDJ's v2.6 and my radio is 2.15.50.14

I assume these are the steps you did.
How to use;
For MAGLDR NAND Boot;
1. Download recovery with partition size for the type of rom you plan on using, see guide below if unsure.
2. Extract downloaded file and load magldr into USB Flasher mode.
3. Run DAF.exe and follow instructions
4. After completed and phone reboots, hold power key and select AD Recovery from list
5. Recovery will now load
If this does not work. Try to download CWM 1.3 again. Download might of been corrupt.
You do not need the files on the SD card. It should load to nand.
Which mgldr version do you have?
If not 1.3, get 1.3.

i don't know why but today it worked...lol!
Thanks for the help any way!

help
i am having the same problems right now... i tried 3 different links and still no good... if u can help pm me please thanks

[Q] Accessing Clockworkmod in /sdcard

Greetings.
I am trying to install Cyanogenmod 7.0.2 on my HTC Tattoo (still has 1.6). This is the first time I've done this.
I am following the Cyanogenmod wiki page that shows you the whole process of rooting+flashing a new rom (since this is my first post I am unable to post outside links in this thread).
In the "Installing Clockworkmod Recovery" section, I get the following error when trying to flash the image:
flash_image: not found
I listed the files in /sdcard and saw that it was completely empty.
Can anyone tell me what I missed?
I copied the Clockworkmod image file to the root directory by connecting my phone to my PC through USB (USB Debugging was on) and copying the file there.
Please let me know how to solve this.
Thank you.
I was able to solve my problem and proceed with the attempt to flash Clockworkmod. Now I'm getting another error though:
error writing recovery: No space left on device
I have plenty of space in the SD Card (~2GB), but I'm assuming the problem is with the phone's internal memory. I don't know what I can delete.
Any thoughts?
Thank you.
Hi

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I tried to do as you said and installed both Rom Manager and Superuser. But now I have other issues...
1. On Superuser, it says there is a newer version of su and to update. I accept and get the following error:
An error occurred and su was not updated. A zip file (su-2.3.1-bin-signed.zip) has been placed on your sdcard, please reboot into recovery mode and flash it to update your binary.
2. So, I decided to ignore the update of su and just move on to Rom Manager. Here, I get an error like "su was not found in /system/bin". Well, su is in "/data/local/bin", as per the cyanogen wiki to root the phone. After this, any attempt to flash Clockworkmod fails.
3. To try to make it so Rom Manager has everything it needs, I followed the wiki again, but this time I tried to move the su file to /system/bin. I got the following error:
failed on './su' - Cross-device link
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Hmm, i had the same problem when i was trying to Flash CM7...
Your phone is not rooted...
I know its very frustrating but no worries!
1.Download program from this thread ->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761507... you'll see the program in attachemnts and dl the first one.
2.Paste it in your's SD card , install it (use ASTRO MANAGER, to find the program)
3.Open the program and root the phone with 1 click
4. Then Superuser will ask you to allow it and click yes, and go to ROM MANAGER.
5.You will have to allow the Superuser here too.. Do it.
6.Flash Clockwork Mod recovery, and reboot into recoverymod.
7.Flash your Rom , flash Gapps(Google applications)
8.Enjoy
Thank you CROpipe!
Your instructions worked! I now have CM7 installed on my HTC Tattoo!
Here are the issues I found though:
1. When I was trying to download the ROM using ROM Manager, the list of ROMs was empty. Maybe it's because I was not using the Premium version...? I ended up downloading the ROM from the forum, copying it to the SD card and installing it that way.
2. I tried also to install GApps through Rom Manager. I was afterwards able to set up my google account, but I still had to manually download GMail, Google Maps, ... I'm not sure if this is actually how it's supposed to go... :-/
Anyway, thanks again for the help.
Yap that is quite allright Congrats on your new ROM ))

ClockWorkMod and Cyano with Rom Manager?

I have a GTab2 10.1, rooted with Odin.
After rooted, I opened Rom Manager, and see the Icon ClockworkMod: tapped, and oh, Rom Manager Installed versione 6.0.1.1
Then I see CyanogenMod icon, 9 and 10. I checked both, started download, Gtab rebooted but installation was aborted with an error
E:Can't open /sdcard/ clockworkmod /download/get.cm/get/jenkins/7108/cm-9.1.0-p5110.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted.
Continued manually, and the file WAS there, in the propher path.
Tryed to flash it, but another error
E:Error in /emmc/sdcard/clockworkmod/download/get.cm/get/jenkins/7108/cm-9.1.0-p5110.zip

ok, tried another path, using the nice tutorial posted in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786828
I downloaded the propher file cm-10-2012-08-29-NIGHTLY-p5110.zip, but same error.
So prolly I'm missing something, but what?

1.
Have you tried to install the CM file from CWM Recovery.
I think it could be a compatibility-issue between Galaxy Tab 2 and ROM Manager.
Had the same problem as you,but it worked through CWM Recovery.
2.
You could try moving the CM file to the external memory and try flashing it from there to see if the problem persists.
Maybe it's because CWM Recovery is unable to flash the file from internal memory.
INSTRUCTIONS
First time installing CyanogenMod 9/10 to your Galaxy Tab 2, or coming from another ROM:
- Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
- Copy GApps and CM9/10 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9/10 zip from internal SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from internal SDCard
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET
- Reboot
- Don't restore Apps using Titanium Backup!
Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9/10:
- Copy CM9/10 ZIP to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9/10 zip from internal SDCard
- Reboot

Do it like that and you will never have any problems, Download from the threads provided. Follow the instructions to the letter and you cant go wrong. If you are not sure of anything ASK first and someone will help you out.

clockworkmod

Hi guys, I had clockworkmod 5.0.2.6 installed but it was small(partition). I've found some clockwork mods with bigger partition(250, 400) in guide and downloaded them. I flashed them via daf and they've flashed successfully. Now, the problem is none of newer roms(ics, jb) work with that version of cwm. How to install other recovery(for eg. newer cwm)? Don't give me the guide, I'm sick of them and have a few bookmarked but there is no solution for that. Oh, I forgot. I have mag1.13 and cwm 3.0.0.8(orange one)..
Thanks in advance.

If your just looking to increase system partition then there is a file (flash.cfg I think) that you need to modify, open it and it should be fairly clear what to modify to increase the partition size.
I edited the flash.cfg with notepad++ and wanted to flash the same recovery again but daf is showing me some error.
first, in case you handt realised, increasing teh system size is only needed when the size required by your rom needs it, , , , so for example flashing a 200mb rom to a 400mb partition will waste 200mb, the system wont use that extra space. Your total available storage does NOT include teh system partition, sop teh bigger system partition you create, the lesws available internal storage you will have for data.
Look in the folder where flash.cfg is, , find recovery-raw.img and replace it with the new recovery .img you want to use.
Then, because of the line
recovery rrecov|ro|nospr filesize recovery-raw.img
in flash.cfg, when you run the flash it will create the correct recovery partition size.
(If the newer recovery didnt use a larger recovery partition, or if you wanted to reinstal recovery again after already doing the above, ((meaning the recovery partition is already big enough)) you would simply start cwm, and flash the new recovery from sd card, just like flashing a rom)
showing me some error.

completely useless sentence, you may as well not bother, how do we know what error it shows? mind reading?

**** yeah! I did it!
Thanks bro'
I dindn't Heeeeeeeeelp..
I installed the cwm touch and when installing rom with aroma(pacman) it stays at 0% but it's putting files to system. Then it passes the mag and stays at bootanimation. Whats wrong?
EDIT: I'm uploading video of my problem
Fixed
Fixed with magldr repartitioning. Thanks anyway.

I'm missing something very important..right?

I very carefully followed the "newb" thread.
I've installed 2.08 HardSPL, an d MagLDR v113 and my phone has the 12 option menu.
However when I go to click "DAF.exe" (in admin mode, win7 64bit) it just gives me an error.
-----------
Error Description: Config load failed.
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (725)
Error Description: CONFIG: can't open config file

Now I see the sentence below...in multiple places..like I should know what this is..but I think I'm missing something very important
Run DAF.exe (Right Click and Run As Administrator if you have Vista or Windows 7) in the folder you extracted the image to and follow the intructions on your pc to start flashing

What IMAGE is this referring to??
I have a feeling I'm supposed to do something when running DA.exe..it tells me 'readme.txt not found' on the 3rd page so I must be missing this image.
Is this something really stupid I'm missing? This is a new process for me (although I flashed this HD2 a zillion times with Windows ROMs in the past) and clearly I'm supposed to have put MaglDR inside of another folder with something else??
I downloaded the NexusHD2-JellyBean-CM10_V1.3a ROM but there's no image file or anything..help!!
You missed writing a descriptive title
Can I have a look at that "newb" guide of yours?
Also, from there you can just download the "HD2 Toolkit" and install the recovery from there.
thanks! I was using this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
I am looking for the toolkit now.
If you're having problems with the toolkit, you can follow this guide starting from step #7. Don't forget to read the important notice at the top should you choose to follow it.
Good luck.
this suddenly got a whole lot more complicated...
i thought once i had HARDSPL 2.08, the 2.15.50.14 radio and MAGLDR v113, I could just double-click a ROM image or something.

Once you have all of that, you need to flash CWM recovery and then the ROM. It's a lot easier than you would think, provided that you read everything properly. Just follow the guide in my sig (a more updated version of the guide you linked) and you'll be fine.
thanks! i just flashed to the 'stock' LEO ROM..i see..the DAF.exe is generally in the directory w/ the image you download..but I'm guessing that process is old.
I will read your guide and see about getting CWM and a newer ROM now that i know it has a 'base' ROM and is talking to the PC ok.
THank you so much! I just want to put a stable version of JB on here and see if this phone still has some life left..its been in a drawer for months.
THANK YOU!!!! i'm running the NexusHD2 jellybean ROM now as well!! that was easy.
PS i also have a nexus 4 so we have similar phone setups.
the HD2 lasted until i got my nexus back in november.

Is there a file called FLASH.CFG in the folder where DAF.EXE is located? You may have to create one - there should be at least a sample file included.
If you need a sample file downloads this one but be sure to modify it to suit the ROM you want to install.
flash.cfg - 134 bytes

BIG help please!

A friend just gave me a HTC HD2 and he wanted to flash android on it but he didn't succeeded so he gave it to me. I worked with android phones and stuff (Optimus 2x and G3) but here are too many threads and stuff for this phone and I don't know where I am and where to start with this phone. I saw a lot of stuf (Radio, MAGLRD....etc) and I don't know how I suppose to flash android. So my question is that if someone can give me a VERY detailed guide to flash android on the HD2. (I have knowledge on flashing stuff, kernel, rom etc...but not on this phone)
Don't be rude please. If I didn't posted on the right thread please excuse me as I said there are too many threads and I don't know witch is the correct one for what I asked.
