A WP7 updating is rolling out today and I just noticed my phone is alerting me of the update. Has anyone tried following through with the update?
Yes - Came back with an error
Registry is incorrect on the phone.
My HD2/7 is activated - not sure what registry changes have been made!
yes , don´t install
Update
I was't even expecting it to update but I was hoping for it to create a backup
Yeah same here it said cannot update due to registry settings.

i'm pretty sure your on a hd2...not hd7
so yeaa, now you should be sure why...
There must still be a reg entry that identifies the phone as a HD2. When my phone rebooted during the update, my PC found new hardware and the pop up said "LEO"
I am Using HD2 with WP7..the update came back with an error and the installation failed.
Trying to update isn't going to work.
Sent from my HD2 using Tapatalk
I really hope that someone get on top of this update pretty soon so that we can all enjoy the update on our HD2, tadaaaaa........
My phone just rebooted itself and now it won't boot up at all. Shows the HTC screen and vibrates then turns off. I wonder if this has anything to do with the failed update
i keep getting registry error.. guess MS will only tolerate so much
but my hd2 still boots and runs fabulously...no complaints...best os out there
Hopefully my problem is unrelated to the failed update. I can't believe people are still trying it. It WON'T work! Don't even bother.
so... has anyone succeed updating his hd2??

There is nothing in this 'update' which should excite us.
This first update for Windows Phone is designed to improve the software update process itself. It’s only paving the way for all future goodie-filled updates to your phone, such as copy and paste or improved Marketplace search.
P.S. to those who have reported problems with the phone after the update I can only say that is most likely NOT related to it. I have no problems with using my phone after that, both Marketplace and Xbox live are working just as fine as before.

If everyone tries, people who've made changes to their registry and perhaps made changes the rest of us may not have made, who knows, it might work. Yeah it's a long shot but...you don't know what's possible 'til you try.

Well, that's what Microsoft says at least.

Hi,
I've been trying to get the MyPhone premium features trial (locate lost phone/remote ring etc.) to work on the HD2 and to set this up the service needs to send 12 silent messages to the phone. This worked on my old Polaris just fine but on the HD2 it fails to recieve these 12 messages and therfeore the service cant be used.
Does anyone else have this problem???
Thanks
Just gave it a go - same problem - FYI I'm on Vodafone..
Have you guy's updated your ROM to the newest version? Maybe HTC has fixed it... I don't know, but it's worth a try.
I've not flashed yet, due to the O2 branded ROM, might try the goldcard method on the weekend.
Anyone with the newer ROM care to try the free premium features trial and report back
Thanks

No luck with a 1.48 ROM? maybe its something else as it cant be operator specific
Mine failed to, 1.48 vodafone uk
Hd2 my phone premium features dont work
I have a HD2 which i bought sim free which Im using on the Orange UK 3G network.
I've also noticed that the premium features on ms_myphone dont work with the HD2.
Along with everyone else, I get the message that the phone cannot be contacted.
As soon as the ROM is officially announced on the website of HTC: Report this issue. Maybe they fix it soon then...

TBH don't see the point in waiting until ROM is officially announced, after all it doesn't work in the current ROM neither! So reporting it as "not working" now just means they can't come back with a "this feature is supported in a forthcoming ROM" (or if they do then we'll know they are talking about something coming later in the pipeline than 1.48!).
I think the more people that report it the better; especially as the whole MS MyPhone feature doesn't seem to have had all that much marketing (at least the here in the UK) therefore the might not immediately be that many people complaining about it.
Just my opinion
Don't know if it's relevant, but having run MyPnone on the original ROM I was (as is standard) asked to download an update to the application. I did this and all was well until today when I was asked to download another update, which I have also done.
Why not see if there is any way to force this update - it may be a bugfix?

No, still doesn't work with my SIM free HD2 on Orange UK- "The ring/ lock request couldn't be sent due to a problem with our service"

Semi-relevent but sadly not a fix..
The 'updated' version of the MyPhone app contains the code for the 'Premium' service to work, however these in turn have to then be supported by the phone itself. FYI. Turns out what it does is constantly monitor your incoming txt messages for and intercepts specially formatted ones from the MS server instructing it to do something (ie. for the MyPhone app to launch and connect back to base, turn ringer to full and ring, acquire GPS fix, etc etc). I'd hazard a guess it is the HTC Sence txt messaging service which is preventing this service from working - after all it is known already not to play nice with the txt message notification queue and instead hog it to itself.
So in summary: without the update you'd have no chance of the location element of the Premium Services working, with it you still need support from your handset and it would seem up to ROM 1.48 at least we have sadly confirmed not to have this with the HD2 at this stage. A fix needs to come from either HTC or Microsoft (further updated to MyPhone app), or quite possibly both.
There's a relevant thread over at the MyPhone forum that I tried to add to http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/MyPhone/thread/57659d5c-2077-4387-9bda-92643e17cab7
not had a reply yet, maybe we need a new thread over there?
i think it must be the HTC messaging app ... has anyone install back the old windows message app, and try the myphone Premium features again?
Im going to bump this thread now that custom ROMS are out there and ask
Is anyone with the htc messaging removed able to set up the premium features of MyPhone?
How do you disable HTC messaging....?
Can you fully disable senseUI ?
On a stock rom....
Serriously, your telling me that no one cares about locating their lost phone, remote wiping etc!

If you are looking for find my phone style software, forget the myphone premium, go look at Remotetracker. Free, and superb. Stuffed with tons of features. TXT your phone, it will call you back with the microphone open, another command will text you gps coordinates and a link to the position on google maps, another commands will start the gps, make a 5 minute track log and then text it to you in google earth compatible format,, send popup messages to teh phone, get it to send you all your contacts, get it to wipe the SD card, the list is endless.

remotetracker is good but I would prefer to be able to use a website to contact my phone rather than having to send a text to it. also being able to ring the phone etc and view it on a map
Hello,
I'm receiving an app update through WP7 Marketplace to get an update for Samsung Diagnosis.
However, when I go to get the update from the Marketplace, it gives me the following message:
"Can't get this info right now. Check back in a little while."
Anyone know why this is happening? Has anyone gotten this error yet?

Yep, same here. I also have a constant pending update for some Reversi program that's not actually on my phone because there's two in the marketplace with the same name. My guess in both instances is that Microsoft is still trying to get it right at their end since there's nothing I can do about either at my end. I'm not resetting my phone over this so I just ignore them.

I like it a lot and, after the usually painful transition, I haven't missed the iPhone 4 at all. I think this marketplace thing is probably the worse issue I've seen, which isn't bad, and it hasn't restarted by itself or anything since I bought it. In fact, I even have a Sandisk class 2 8GB card in it and it's worked without a hitch since taking it out of the box. I have about a week to return it but so far I've had no reason to do so.

Same here. My experiences have been the same as yours. But instead of going from iPhone 4, I went from iPhone 3GS. The only downside is there aren't must options when it comes to cases and such, but that's to be expected for a platform that hasn't taken off yet. The only problem I am having so far is getting used to the keyboard. Since it's weirder then the iPhone 4, I'm used to pressing the letters closer together and on the WP7, I tend to make more mistakes, but that's something I'll get used to.

LOL...guess that explains why it doesn't download. That's...let's see....8 times the monthly cap imposed by Comcast reidential. Good job, Microsoft!
Oh...I forgot to mention, that's one of three updates stuck in the marketplace for me now. It was Diagnosis and a Reversi app and now there's another Reversi app. This one actually downloaded and installed, then it never showed up in the list of installed apps and it shows up in the marketplace list every other time I start the app. "I assume Microsoft knows...." is starting to sound like a bad assumption. Guess I should call their teacher and ask that she keep them after class for their own good.

I was having the same issue until I realized I could slide my finger over the keyboard and release when the key I wanted was highlighted.
Did you know you can also hold your finger down for a moment, and you get a cursor, which you can then slide around to insert whereever you want, like the middle of a word. Makes editing easier.

I had used the ##634# to get into the Diagnosis menu. It now shows up as an App in my start menu. If I "Uninstall" it, will I lose access to it in the future? Will uninstalling it delete the application itself, or just the Start Menu Shortcut?
Is there another way to remove this shortcut without uninstalling?
Just removes shortcut

Uninstall just removes the icon, typing the code on the dial pad again brings the app/icon back.
Just tested on my own focus to confirm.
My Blockbuster app loads well, shows the movies I've rented, but returns the error code 0xc00d2713 in a white box when I try to download any of the rented movies. I have...
*Deactivated my TMOUS HD2, soft reset and reactivated it.
*Uninstalled the Blockbuster app, soft reset and reinstalled it.
*Reset my modem and router (just incase).
Can anyone figure this out? The only help T-Mobile had was trade for like new or new phone. I've taken loving care of my HD2 and I don't want someone else's problems.
Has anyone any idea what could cause this or am I once again doomed to the hard reset?
After looking, that error seems to be related to DRM.

I don't use the Blockbuster app at all (I don't think we have the same access in the UK), but are you supposed to be able to download a movie that you've rented?

Sorry, don't play with fire . But, yes, once you rent the movie you are suppose to be able to download it and play it. Have any ideas how to fix it? The app works if I do a hard reset; however, once I restore with Sprite backup, it will not download. The tmobile My Account "will be downloading soon" forever, too; although, I've fixed that problem.

Bizarre.
If it works after a hard reset, but stops after a restore with Sprite Backup, then it sounds like another app is conflicting with it. I was all for going with the DRM theory before, as mentioned by rr5678, but I'm not so convinced now.
I don't know how you could figure out what's causing the problem other than to re-install the apps manually, 1-by-1, and check after each install if you can still download. Obviously once you can't then you've found the problem.
That's not really a helpful suggestion though, if you've got a shed-load of apps to go through.
It's a bit of a clutch at straws, but I think having a thread here is the best thing, and to hope that someone with the same experience and a solution turns up.
Sorry to be so vague, but that's all I've got!
Hope you get it sorted.

Hope you get this one sorted too.
Edit: Just out of curiosity, have you flashed a custom ROM since you got your phone, or is it still an official TMO one?
Okay. I too Googled, and all I could find were references to Windows running on PCs. With that in mind, I REALLY don't know if this is relevant, but I do know enough about the WinMo OS to suspect it may help. If you're happy with registry editing, have a look at post No.2 on this page...

I was 50/50 as to whether it would exist or not. Windows CE is VERY similar to the PC based Windows OS, so it was worth checking. As I know you've seen, there's nothing coming back from Google with regards to this error on WM.
I'm definitely done here now. As I said before, I hope you do get a solution though.

going by the way these updates are frying sd cards and internal memory on other phones...i'd be wary to be frst one to try.
Has anyone ever tried the check-in dialer code (*#*#2432546#*#* or *#*#CHECKIN#*#*) on an Epic? I'm not seeing any results whatsoever, it's like I've typed in an unrecognized / incomplete number-- which I suspect is exactly the case.
And for anyone who's ever had success with it, Epic or not, does it give any indication or confirmation when there's not an update available? In other words, are my results to be expected when an update is unavailable, but once an update is available it will acknowledge the code and indicate as such?
I thought this was a GSM only code, then an HTC only...but I think I'm wrong on both...

I understand it isn't going to magically make an update for me thanks. But as seen on that page there is usual visual feedback indicating a successful checkin.
Either way I did not see anyone successfully do it with an Epic, so maybe it's just an htc thing or something else.
well, I just did a ##RTN# (on stock, unrooted, unmolested eclair) then entered my MSL.. waiting for full reset here to check for the update..
I'll report back once it's finished.

Still nothing here, either. I guess we're at the end of the line of this gradual rollout....
Same here, still haven't received update notice for T-Mobile USA.
have similar problem
I don't think DVP is gonna get the Pre-Update, I guess the Carrier skip it till NoDo.
How is this going to work for those of us who unlock the DVP and use it on other carriers? Presumably nobody else besides T-Mob is going to push the update to a DVP - is there any other way we can get it? Or are we going to be left behind??
You will have to check through the Zune software manually.

Wow now that's interesting. Correct me if I'm wrong with my assumption.. does this mean that, given I am a T-Mobile USA subscriber where the pre-Nodo update is blocked, that after unlocking my DVP I can bypass the carrier update blocking and receive the pre-Nodo update through Zune software?
From what I've read on other forums, lots of people who tried to manually obtain the update through the Zune PC software haven't yet had any luck with that method.

this is not totally correct. When the update is available, you get a notification. When you dismiss that notification but don't update, you receive the notification again in 3days. When you plugged to Zune, it can only show you what you have available. It does not force an update you are not entitled to. It only allows you to override the 3 day polling period.

It is also possible the pre-update isn't being blocked by T-Mobile, but isn't needed for the HD7 or Venue Pro. Since the pre-update is only geared at making the update process more stable for certain devices it is possible it wasn't required for our device.
We will see what the deal is when NoDo drops to get some certainty though...
