[Q] Samsung Diagnosis App [Solved] - Focus General

Hello,
I'm receiving an app update through WP7 Marketplace to get an update for Samsung Diagnosis.
However, when I go to get the update from the Marketplace, it gives me the following message:
"Can't get this info right now. Check back in a little while."
Anyone know why this is happening? Has anyone gotten this error yet?

Yep, same here. I also have a constant pending update for some Reversi program that's not actually on my phone because there's two in the marketplace with the same name. My guess in both instances is that Microsoft is still trying to get it right at their end since there's nothing I can do about either at my end. I'm not resetting my phone over this so I just ignore them.

Most likely. I agree that I will not be resetting my phone over this. How are you liking your Focus so far? Any issues?

I like it a lot and, after the usually painful transition, I haven't missed the iPhone 4 at all. I think this marketplace thing is probably the worse issue I've seen, which isn't bad, and it hasn't restarted by itself or anything since I bought it. In fact, I even have a Sandisk class 2 8GB card in it and it's worked without a hitch since taking it out of the box. I have about a week to return it but so far I've had no reason to do so.

Same here. My experiences have been the same as yours. But instead of going from iPhone 4, I went from iPhone 3GS. The only downside is there aren't must options when it comes to cases and such, but that's to be expected for a platform that hasn't taken off yet. The only problem I am having so far is getting used to the keyboard. Since it's weirder then the iPhone 4, I'm used to pressing the letters closer together and on the WP7, I tend to make more mistakes, but that's something I'll get used to.

uninstall the app
Uninstall the app then go back into diagnosis and it goes away

Has anyone noticed the SIZE of this update in Marketplace?

LOL...guess that explains why it doesn't download. That's...let's see....8 times the monthly cap imposed by Comcast reidential. Good job, Microsoft!

Oh...I forgot to mention, that's one of three updates stuck in the marketplace for me now. It was Diagnosis and a Reversi app and now there's another Reversi app. This one actually downloaded and installed, then it never showed up in the list of installed apps and it shows up in the marketplace list every other time I start the app. "I assume Microsoft knows...." is starting to sound like a bad assumption. Guess I should call their teacher and ask that she keep them after class for their own good.

I was having the same issue until I realized I could slide my finger over the keyboard and release when the key I wanted was highlighted.

Did you know you can also hold your finger down for a moment, and you get a cursor, which you can then slide around to insert whereever you want, like the middle of a word. Makes editing easier.

I have been looking for that since 11/18. Knew it had to be there, but don't remember seeing it in the instructions...
.......aw, who am I kidding? I didn't read the instructions.
Awesome tip Man, Thanks!!!

I had used the ##634# to get into the Diagnosis menu. It now shows up as an App in my start menu. If I "Uninstall" it, will I lose access to it in the future? Will uninstalling it delete the application itself, or just the Start Menu Shortcut?
Is there another way to remove this shortcut without uninstalling?

Just removes shortcut

Uninstall just removes the icon, typing the code on the dial pad again brings the app/icon back.
Just tested on my own focus to confirm.

Anyone got buzz.google.com working on the Nexus One? I always get the desktop view when I go to that site.
and I have Cyanogen 5.0Beta4. I seem to lost the ability to use mobile websites like espn, instead i get the full desktop version.

If you lost the ability to see the mobile pages then you need to install the latest MT addition from Cyanogen. There was an issue with the first MT add on he put out and fixed it in the second one.
I recommend going back and re applying the MT add on and you should be able to see mobile pages again.
You can also D/L Google Maps 4.0 with built in Buzz support. Just go to the market, click on the downloads tab, and the update should be waiting for you!
Anyone knows why I don't have the update promted yet? Is it US only? (I'm oversea).
Also, if I go to buzz website on my N1, I can see the interface, but if I post a Buzz.. it keep spinning a small wheel in front of it, and it never completes (nor posts my Buzz)
Any ideea?
I got the same issue. Maybe it is because our gmail hasn't been updated with Buzz yet.
update google maps in the market
Anyone else find it subliminally retarded that Google puts the Nexus one behind the Iphone on its Buzz page ?
heh yeah, I noticed that myself...
However, here: http://www.google.com/intl/en/mobile/buzz/ there is an iPhone surrounded by 2 N1's.
Go figure.
I understand google though - people with androids will probably get buzz anyway in some future update (won't be surprised if it will be come a builtin app/link like google goggles) - but the real challenge is for them to get iPhone users to use it, pushing them more towards the google cloud.

click get buzz on you phone. you will be happy too see it has a nexus one first then a iphone, followed by another N1. if that helps you a bit lol
I'm quite liking buzz. It's so easy for me to see what people in my area are saying and I can just strike up a conversation with them.
Initially I thought 'How will they get people to leave Twitter to do this' then you realise pretty much everyone is already registered (I'm following people already who have never heard of Buzz!) it's just if they choose to use it.

After a few tries I got to post a buzz both from the page in the browser, and from google maps.
But, now I can't delete the two posts...
Lots of spinning wheels. Seems unfinished.
But I like the idea. Hope it will work better in the coming days

I had those issues too - read that it might have to do with the accepting terms thing not registered properly so I wiped my Browser cache and rebooted.
Seems to still do it but then later I'll see it was posted. Also seems to do it straight after a reboot, but then become sluggish. Still glitchy I guess
Dayz
Edit - Just updated maps and the Buzz Layer thing seems to work better than the one via mobile google. What will be useful I think once it takes off, is that you can pop over to a place and look for any buzz about traffic or weather problems that people might post from a location.

Thanks. Reflashing the mt addon allowed me to see mobile pages again. Buzz works fine now.
I've updated my Maps application to version 4 via Market, but I am not seeing the Buzz layer in Maps.
I wonder is it because this is being rolled out on a country by country basis?
The buzz layer is not enabled by default, you need to press the options, and then choose layers->buzz.
The easiest way to check if your gmap version is correct is to go to options->about - it should be 4.0.0 (#4046).

Thanks. My Maps is of the version you have listed. However when I go to Layers, I do not see the Buzz layer available for selection. Maybe, like Navigation, this Buzz layer will be turned on for other countries bit by bit?
Anyway I'll wait and see how it goes.

Android Market installations now available via your browser!

Ok, so this was announced earlier today and I saw it and thought "meh". I had a browse about and still thought "meh", but then I discovered the fact that I can install apps on my phone directly from the browser.
When I first tried it, it didn't work, but every other app after that was installing on my phone within seconds of my clicking the install button. So basically, I can install apps on my phone from any internet ready computer.
Thanks Google. You just made something sweet a little sweeter!
Enjoy, my friends

make sure you setup your gmail account on the phone and access the market then exit, then it will work. I had the same issue until I did that, cause the FAQ says that will happen if you havent visited market recently.
Now this is cool, utterly great find, no more market on the phone.
BTW, you dont have to access market with https, you can access the same page without the cert error using http.

Great stuff is this!
I can't get apps to download to my device. When in my PC browser, I am logged into market, can see my device in the pull down menu and it says it will be installed onto my device shortly, but nothing happens. I tried rebooting, logging out of Talk and back in, downloading the app directly from the market android app (which works, but doesn't solve the app delivery via browser), and also trying downloading from my android browser. No luck. Anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: Nevermind. Flashed pongster's latest Ginger Rom and all is good.

Debrand Samsung Focus AT&T?

Hi,
I bought a Samsung Focus AT&T and unlocked it sucessfully, but I don't like all the AT&T apps and customization it has.
I used to have a Samsung Galaxy S and it was also branded and I could debrand it with a firmware update.
Is there any way to debrand Focus as well?
thanks!
Windows Phone 7 is nothing like android. if you don't want the ATT apps..simply hold your finger over the icon in the app list and select "uninstall". simple as that. not rooting, no complex Android SDK commands and routines, no need to wait on custom roms.
But the software is still there. 'uninstall' just hides the icon.
Uninstall removes the app as well. It doesn't just remove the icon.

Pretty sure none of the AT&T apps are big enough to make a noticeable difference when looking at your phone's total memory.
Did you ever get an answer for this question? I'm trying to do the same but it's really hard to make sense of anything people are saying on this forum.
In this day and age where memory is dirt cheap and comes in gb quantities is it that big of a deal that the AT&T software is still there? It couldn't consume more than a couple hundred mb's. I'd uninstall it and not worry about it. I guess I don't see the big deal here... I'm more focused on how to get it so that the navigation bar doesn't disappear when you are in landscape mode. It's really annoying trying to browse the web without a navigation bar...

It's not like this bug/feature would drive me back to the iOS community, it's just annoying. It seems like its only in Samsung devices, which perplexes me. My friend has the HTC Arrive and when he's in landscape mode it keeps the navigation bar... Strange, but annoying.

Hmm.. You might be on to something there. Good call.
Yes. I agree.
You will be happy to know the landscape address bar is back in the Holiday 2011 update.
As far as the AT&T specific apps go, I'm pretty sure if you tap and hold it will uninstall, but Carriers may have specific deal as OEMs that their apps only get hidden, in case the user wants to get the experience back.
It should be noted that AT&T NoDo update (April 2011) will bring some AT&T specific apps including one that switches to their wifi when in range.

Market Annoyance

Anyone else having this problem with the Market? When I'm browsing the Market and look at a description of an item, I'll go back to the list and it returns me to the top of the list. Wouldn't be so bad, but when you're browsing through a list of 1,500 items and look at something half way through, it's a real pain to browse all the way back to the spot where you were.

I prefer the website over the app on the tablet. It still needs work, like reviews/ratings.
Glad to know I wasn't losing what's left of my mind. Someone told me about appbrain. Not sure how it works yet. I did create an account from my desktop. Do I just browse from the Xoom and download directly? Is there a way to tell if the app will work on a tablet or just download and try?
This has been complained about since the very beginning (not going to dig up the old threads this time). There are several lists/threads floating around with wishes for the next update(s) and one item was always the market. Not only can you not rate but also the auto-update for apps doesn't seem to function properly AND in the overview or search results it will not show if you have an app installed already. BIG FAILS in my book.
I don't recall this being a problem on the cheap tablets I had before. Then again...they didn't have as many apps available either.

It's not a problem of the tablet but the Honeycomb OS. I have no idea why they messed up the market so badly
I second the fact that they must add reviewing/rating to the app. The list thing also gets annoying, I am really hoping that the Google IO event will bring updates to Gingerbead and Honeycomb.

A week or two ago I started getting this strange pop-up that I've never seen before. I've clicked on the back button which makes it vanish, and when hitting the task switcher button it disappears. I had removed everything I installed over the last month and still it's here.

Maybe scan your phone with an app like CM Security. See if that helps.
If it were me and that didn't work I would wipe my phone and reinstall the OS (Make sure you know what you're doing if you choose this)

Never seen this app before, scan through your apps under installed applications and remove anything you don't want or need. This is not an app that comes with the system that I'm familiar with. Best to get rid.. If it is something normal, I certainly have never seen it.

I've scanned my phone with just about every security app in the play store and nothing, but I think fury figured it out!
I couldn't find which app was displaying the daily summary but I do have TouchPal installed. I did a search on this and the timeline matches. I too couldn't find screenshots of others but timelines and descriptions are dead on! I'm going to remove TouchPal and go back to Swype (I hope the bugs are fixed!) and see if it goes away.
Thanks everyone!
Hahaha I feel like an idiot! I just got the daily summary again, I scrolled to the bottom and in small letters it says "Powered by TouchPal" haha
Glad to help.
