[Q] Samsung Intercept on Boost Mobile - Intercept General

Is there a way to make Samsung Intercept work on Boost Mobile?
Thanks for suggestions.

Yes this would be great. I know they are both CDMA networks unless you go with walkie talkie feature.

I have to be honest with you the BloAtWaRe they install on it makes the phone so slow and useless. Make sure you root that bad boy and throw that Froyo on it.
ANYWAYS!!! getting back to YOUR post I can see how this could work because both Boost and Sprint and Virgin Mobile (my intercept) are running on the same towers. The only thing I could see getting in your way is that Boost may reject the ESN of you Intercept if its not in their system. I tried to get a Samsung Moment on Boost about 4 mo. ago and they went along with the activation but the computer rejects the ESN.
Best of Luck! Let me know if you get it so i can do it too!

Where is the code and How-to?
thx!
I cant find anything in that other forum or others about this. I would really like to find out if a Sprint, Alltel or something can be flashed to Verizon.
Will this help me at all?

You can flash to Verizon but the issue will be getting Verizon to add the esn to their network which could be a huge problem. Take a look at codybear's faq if you want to flash to 6.5 on Verizon. Good Luck!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508544
Do not flush any custom 6.5 ROMs or 6.1 or whatever, this is B.S.
Flash shipped exe ROM of the carrier you want to use.You dont want to confuze techs with twisted custom ROMs
After that you gonna have to activate your phone. It can be done within 1 min in 1 store, and can be refuzed to activate in another store. It all depends on person who works there.Thats what happened to me.:first try-no luck, went to another store and done deal!!!
If they dont want to activate it, there is always ESN clonning method (illigal, but works)You can clone the ESN from activated phone to your Touch. As long as 1 of the clones turned off-you are safe

CDMA or EvDO

Doing the *#*#4636#*#* trick some choose EvDO some choose CDMA...which is better and why choose one over the other? and does this truly help?
EVDO is for data transmission (EVolutionDataOnly) and is frequently used as an overlay for cdma networks. Cdma is data and voice (albeit only 144kbps data). You'll notice that when there is either SMS or voice activity the modem switches to cdma mode.
If your in an area with good evdo coverage try the EVDO setting which i would think would give the phone preference for high speed data, although that seems to be the usual way the phone operates without any changes made to that menu.
Thanks man! Im so new to all this. i had a flip phone from 2004 before this HERO. Im so NOT versed in anything and all Im trying to do is to get the best battery life possible. I talk to ppl that say ROOT your phone and install the new froyo 2.2...WTH is that and OK I will do that, but Sprint isnt offering it and wont tell me how to root my phone. SO where do I begin, I just wish there was a place I could take it to in Chicago that could do all the "stuff" to it.

here's the wiki on how to's, rooting is in there. Froyo is the 2.2 OS right now only 2.1 has been officially released to we're all stoked to be on the new ****e. Rooting does void your warranty but warranties dont cover much anyways.

moving carriers

Have a friend who wants to switch from sprint to metro pcs. Need to find out if it is possible to buy the phone from sprint and switch it to metro. Is this possible?
I don't know how, never tried, but there's tons of little cell shops where I live that'll take any Sprint phone to Metro PCS, even with a bad esn.
You can. you have to use a program called qpst and qxdm. Real higher level phone memory stuff with a higher chance of bricking your phone if you don't know what your doing.

Yes, it can be done. Actually, Im having quite the opposite problem. I have an evo shift that has already been flashed over to metro.
My problem is trying to figure out how the hell to flash back to sprint. (Phone has clean esn and I did verify thru sprint)
Also, Im willing to do a dump here, so others can just flash the dump on their phones or whatever it is that I could do to help the next group of folks who want to flash from sprint to metro, before I flash back to stock.
Guess I have to go dig/search thru a few hundred threads or so.

lol, whatever program/method they use is the one that WE want to stay away from. Reason being is this: They (metro) have not figured out how to get mms working and a few other things.
Well, im not saying their program totally doesnt work, but it doesnt totally work either!!
The closest thing i can find is how to flash the EVO over to metro. Since this is a "modded" version of the evo, then shouldnt the same tools/method work for flashing back to sprint on the SHIFT?

Possible to use the Shift on Verizon? Boost?

I've been searching Google and XDA both but can't even find anyone else ASKING about this let alone doing it. I had a Sprint Touch Pro once that I got working on Verizon using instructions I found on XDA.... would I be able to do the same with the Shift? The only keyboard android device we have is the Droid 1/2/3 and I can't stand those phones. The Shift is just about perfect but I'm not leaving Verizon anytime soon....
so, can the Shift be modified to run on Verizon? A coworker said it could be hacked to run on Boost Mobile, would the same principles apply?
From my understanding its near impossible to activate a sprint phone on verizon without knowing someone on the inside.... I could be wrong though. I know Verizon would need to add the ESN to their database.
Sent from my CyanoSpeedy
well, I can say you definitely don't need to "know anyone on the inside". When I activated the Sprint Touch Pro on Verizon, it was just me and the instructions I found on XDA. I don't remember all the steps, I had to use a program via my laptop to change pst settings, and I THINK I had to flash the Verizon ROM? That would probably be the road block to getting the shift onto Verizon getting the ESN into the Verizon system was as simple as activating via *228. I know I didn't have to actually speak with anyone...
Like I said, I could be wrong. Just my .02. Hopefully you can becsuae my shift is 10 times better than my dads droid 2.

*bump* anyone? no one? not something that can be done thru epst?

[Q] how to flash my samsung epic to metro pcs?

i want to flash my new phone to metro pcs so that messaging ,internet ,and talking works also the gps system . can someone giv me steps by step how to doit ,i need the best rated recent tutorial there is out there .. where could i fint it ?
There are locations that do it, but they aren't cited. You'll have to first get your Epic's ESN on MetroPCS..
(I'm one of the Few Members --don't know of any others though-- that have their Epic on MetroPCS..) I took it to a location that did it for me though because I didn't have the time to dig through forums looking for those locations that'll add your ESN to Metro.

The people who did it were representing a Company called 'Beige Phone' they indeed have a site, might wanna give them a call, if there's a location near you, be ready to shell out 50-75 bucks.

so there is no way i could get my epic to work for metropcs for free?
Unless you open up business with MetroPCS,open up your own store, and become an Authorized Dealer, in order to have access to their system's ESNs.. No.

There is to add an ESN to the system.
Flash a sacrificial esn from a metro phone? Kinda Like the boost method. Just a guess. I am on sprint. Lol
Sent from my Epic. Which is better than yours.
Boost mobile charges the dealer $15 to get the esn added..the cheapest u will find to get the esn added will be $25..but they usully charge $40. Metropcs internet speed is painfully slow to the point ur battery dies faster. I highly reccomend u to have it connect it to boostmobile instead

does boost mobile use gps system and gets 3g?
It most certainly does. In case you didn't know, boost IS sprint's prepaid network.. so yeah, things will mesh a lot better on the original network. As for me, I'm only with Metro because no other prepaid network has Roaming Coverage that's compatible with my phone in the specific part of Oregon that I'm in. So 10 bucks a month for Roaming is a walk through the park for me.

Yea I'm definitely considering flashing my epic to boostmobile. I went from paying $50/month to $101/month with sprint. To many ridiculous taxing going on. $10/mth for ****ty 4g in Tampa! Can't even use the **** lollll.....
