flashing... Sprint or Alltel ... to Verizon? - Touch CDMA General

I can get a good price on a new Sprint and Alltel Touch (vzw phones are hard to find by me)... but I have Verizon and do not want to switch service due to coverage... can I easily flash the Sprint or Alltel Touch to Verizon?
I'm a techie and have a Kaiser I flash often so very familular with the methods just wanted to know if this was possible and some pointers to threads with the correct info it is.
thanks in advance!

Yes it is... I have done it and everything works except for the roam indicator.
drellisdee has a post at ppcgeeks about it. (thread is called something like "using another carriers . . ." )

Where is the code and How-to?
thx!

I cant find anything in that other forum or others about this. I would really like to find out if a Sprint, Alltel or something can be flashed to Verizon.
Will this help me at all?
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=73894&highlight=flashing+carrier

You can flash to Verizon but the issue will be getting Verizon to add the esn to their network which could be a huge problem. Take a look at codybear's faq if you want to flash to 6.5 on Verizon. Good Luck!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508544

Do not flush any custom 6.5 ROMs or 6.1 or whatever, this is B.S.
Flash shipped exe ROM of the carrier you want to use.You dont want to confuze techs with twisted custom ROMs
After that you gonna have to activate your phone. It can be done within 1 min in 1 store, and can be refuzed to activate in another store. It all depends on person who works there.Thats what happened to me.:first try-no luck, went to another store and done deal!!!
If they dont want to activate it, there is always ESN clonning method (illigal, but works)You can clone the ESN from activated phone to your Touch. As long as 1 of the clones turned off-you are safe

getting a HTC Mogul

hi everyone,
i dont know if im in the right place, but im going to be getting the HTC mogul in a few months and noticed on ebay they had auctions for $99 with new activation, but you cant get a SERO plan. why is that and how can they sell the phones so cheap?
i noticed that most ppl in the hermes forum are using the 8525 or Wing and dont see any mogul users. is this because its harder to make roms for cdma devices or because not many have the mogul yet?
sorry for the newbie questions. thanks in advance for any help!
PS. keep up the great work everyone! ive installed and fully customized my "i phone" theme and now its a hybrid device that contains the best of WM5 and i phone. kudos guys!
hmm...
if everyone is gonna ignore this thread, can someone at least point me in the right direction? thanks.
Sorry can't help you as I have never heard of it but I did google it and there are some hits. You might try that. I have never cared for sprint or cdma phones so google is about the best I can do sorry
d
i meant if i were to get the mogul, would i be able to flash it with the hermes roms thats you can find here? i obviously wouldnt be able to use the radio files since they are all GSM, but i just wanted to do some research before i get the mogul from sprint. i noticed most ppl here have GSM phones. is this a development page strictly for GSM or would i be able to use the information found in the Hermes thread on my Mogul?
thanks in advance and keep up the great work everyone!
The mogul is a different device then the hermes (its the htc titan vs the htc tytn) it has a different cpu along with the radio (and more memory) I think flashing a hermes/tytn rom would be a very bad idea.
thanks for clearing that up for me! now...where can i get titan roms?

I am pretty sure the Wing is a new machine. But as far as I know the Mogul is a Hermes. Can anyone confirm this one way or the other?
I can confirm the Mogul is NOT a hermes.
for crying out loud...
the MOGUL IS NEW!
Its the HTC TITAN (not to be confused with the TYTN), which is a CDMA-only model, which does not directly resemble anything else HTC makes.
Its also known as the XV6800, or PPC-6800.
It is NOT the Hermes, the Tytn, or any other HTC device.
This is one of those few times the CDMA carriers get something GSM does not...
See? This is what happens when the mods decide not to dedicate a new forum for a new device... no one knows whats going on!!

[Q] Houdinisoft wont add EVO to MetroPCS

Ok, so I have a interesting situation here. I went to a corporate metro store and they gave me some bs about there system cant find the drivers for my evo. So I phoned a local retailer and they will do it for a reasonable price, however, here is the catch; They claim they have tried to flash 3 evo's so far and they have all failed. So they told me "if you can get it to flash we'll do it". It's a mom and pop retailer, and the woman was very nice, however she doesn't seem to be able to get Houdini soft to successfully flash a evo. Does anyone have some advice I could bring with me to help get her system to flash a evo? OR at the very least if I flash the PRL myself could anyone tell me what to do to manually add my phone to there inventory?
Anyone...Can anyone at least point me in the right direction? Maybe im just looking in the wrong places but I cant find any useful documentation on the subject. The only thing I have found is that you can flash it as if it were a hero.
Did you search in the DEV section?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
if you already have the ESN on metro's network then you don't need Houdini. just go into the DEV section here, there's a few walkthroughs and roms for MetroPCS.
problem is getting the ESN on the metro network first. I paid a guy to add a friend's EVO, and he swears he's done it right three times, and MetroPCS still hasn't connected it for my friend....claiming all sorts of crazy things.
I still need to add my ESN to metro. How is it done as a hero? I keep hearing that. Are there any walkthroughs on how to flash my evo as a hero with houdini? Ive never seen houdini in my life so Im trying to get an idea of what to expect, im going there first thing in the morning. Once my esn is added, and the prl is written, I have the rest coverd. I already have the rom I want downloaded and everything, im chomping at the bit to get this phone activated.
Ok well i got it myself. I found the 64-bit diag drivers and brought them on a flash drive with me. I had to show to girl behind the counter how to manually install them, after that the evo flashed just fine. Now im off the root, unlock, and flash CM7! PEACE
Wow, you just ran it and it worked? I have a quick question, because I've been searching and I found a small dealer that is willing to help. Apparently Houdinisoft now READS the phone, and it can tell you both the model and the ESN. According to several sources, all they do now is just click "next, next, next". Houdinisoft reads the phone model, ESN and even uploads it if it's a supported phone. Was this the case when you flashed your Evo and if so, how did you get around it?

Possible to use the Shift on Verizon? Boost?

I've been searching Google and XDA both but can't even find anyone else ASKING about this let alone doing it. I had a Sprint Touch Pro once that I got working on Verizon using instructions I found on XDA.... would I be able to do the same with the Shift? The only keyboard android device we have is the Droid 1/2/3 and I can't stand those phones. The Shift is just about perfect but I'm not leaving Verizon anytime soon....
so, can the Shift be modified to run on Verizon? A coworker said it could be hacked to run on Boost Mobile, would the same principles apply?
From my understanding its near impossible to activate a sprint phone on verizon without knowing someone on the inside.... I could be wrong though. I know Verizon would need to add the ESN to their database.
Sent from my CyanoSpeedy
well, I can say you definitely don't need to "know anyone on the inside". When I activated the Sprint Touch Pro on Verizon, it was just me and the instructions I found on XDA. I don't remember all the steps, I had to use a program via my laptop to change pst settings, and I THINK I had to flash the Verizon ROM? That would probably be the road block to getting the shift onto Verizon getting the ESN into the Verizon system was as simple as activating via *228. I know I didn't have to actually speak with anyone...
Like I said, I could be wrong. Just my .02. Hopefully you can becsuae my shift is 10 times better than my dads droid 2.

*bump* anyone? no one? not something that can be done thru epst?

[Q] Taking xt907 to London - Advice.…?

Hello all,
I have an XT907, bootloader unlocked, running CM11 very well. I am planning to go to London for a week in February, and I would like to buy a micro sim to use while I am there. I have scoured the threads trying to make sense of the international/micro-sim situation, and I am totally lost. Here's what I need to know:
Can I take my phone to London, pop out my Verizon micro-sim, pop in an O2 sim and use it without making any other changes? (I did this a couple of years ago with a jail-broken iPhone and it worked beautifully...)
Sub-questions, which can be ignored if the simple answer is "yes": do I need to call Verizon to get them to unlock the phone?
Are there GSM issues, which I tend to ignore, since my carrier is Verizon, and, if there are, have they been patched in this rom?
Thanks in advance. Hoping somebody can answer.

This may take care of all your needs. Use cwmr 6046 or philz 6079 only. Backup your current rom before doing anything.
Keep in mind that even these recoveries do not save all your partitions. Some partitions are only on your phone. /persist, /modem & /firmware are the most important ones NOT saved! Try it out. If you do not want to delve into RSD lite & PC only hacking, stop. All you need to restore our latest xml via RSD is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391641
Go
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2246081
Subsitute the op's twrp bu: http://yadi.sk/d/oufUHo_F4Ehfh for Avst_ZaYAC_MODsmXBIN.cwmr.zip
You will restore it rather than install it.
And fit it into my other steps in Post 17
Using philz v 6097 cwmr, which will restore twrp format too.
I cannot recommend twrp anymore.
You will have full vzw 4g & I think the star of the setup, the droid razr widget should not break your 4g. more on DRW here You may need FireFox to get the translate link to work.
Do test it all out & save it w/ philz.
Messing with the "select radio band" (3 dot menu) with the hidden app "phone info" [also known as *#*#4636#*#* from the dialer] will break 4g /modem & result in 3g to 1x only. Feel free to do anything else from Phone Info.
Once a combination of partitions are broken RSD is the only fix.
Just restore to the ...94 xml and then the partitions not handled by our recoveries, get fixed and a restore via philz puts all right again [some from RSD & most from the recovery].
Latest Philz zip http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition
or here flashable from custom recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2567603
Wow. Thank you SO much for the detailed reply.
Unfortunately, all of this sounds very complicated to me-- I have never messed around with radios/modems, and really love the way my phone works, here, now, in the United States.
I take it that your one word answer is, "no, your phone will not work if you bring it to Europe and pop in a sim..."?
If so, given that I am only going once, for six days, I might just pull out that old iPhone and limp along with that.
Again, I am so grateful for the time you took to point me in the right direction. Sorry to be such a wimp.

Hm... I use Razr M on Europe (Ukraine) on GSM network and have no problems with my carrier even on stock-ROM
If you use AOSP-based ROM - just use this

I think this could be good news. I'm using CM11 nightly, which I think is not that different from Dhacker. All you did was pop in the microsim?
I really don't want to wreck my current phone, which works, just to get a few days of better phone service on vacation.

I will search for tutorials about flashing that baseband-- is it a simple enough process? Will it affect how my phone works on Verizon when I return?
Also, for others trying to figure this stuff out, I found this: http://www.internauta37.altervista.org/how-and-patch-fully-enable-gsm-verizon-cdma-phones-android by one of the XDA members which is not exactly a "for dummies" tutorial but does begin to outline the issues.

She Gained that baseband by downloading the Stock Rom with that Baseband.
I have to get back to my home computer to get that link.
Its a Dev Site where u can download all the Stock roms for our Phone.
Oh my gosh!! I have that baseband already. Phew! One less thing on my "to do" list.
Okay, last question, I promise. I have read, and think I understand, the blog tutorial about enabling GSM. But it sounds from your post like I do not have to edit my build.prop at all, if I am running CM11 and have the baseband you mentioned. I apologize for repeating my question again and again, but I am a little slow.

In this Particular case you don't need to do that.
Enabeling GSM and Editing Build Prop is Mainly for Tmobile USA and AT&T or any USA GSM carrier.
But on some CM11 it may be required since it was not made for GSM, most newer ones are though.
That's where u look for the GSM Fix thing.
The only thing you May have to hunt down are the info for Data if it doesn't Auto install itself from the Euro SIM.
International SIM normally Require a PIN and it will Auto install a SIM app to correct its Data Settings.
Thanks! Based on your helpful clarification I will leave it alone.

Sprint S6 Edge+ on Tmobile

I have a Sprint S6 Edge + that has been unlocked and I'm using it on a Tmobile network. Is there a way to load the stock Tmobile firmware on this phone to essentially make it a Tmobile phone instead of Sprint?

Oh, the time travel paradox. I haven't brushed up on my Robert Heinlein lately, but if I remember correctly, it was something like...... If I had bought a Tmobile phone in the first place, I wouldn't have this problem, but I didn't, so I must go back to a time where this Sprint phone does not exist in my current personal multiverse and instead I choose to buy a Tmobile phone thereby eliminating my need to find assistance in the form of a helpful answer to my question. But I have to assume that I'm never able to travel back in time where your answer would apply, otherwise I wouldn't be typing this message, because the problem would have solved itself before ever existing. Got it! Let me stuff some banana peels into my flux capacitor and see how quickly I can generate the required 1.21 Jigawatts.
In the meantime, any Non Marty McFly's that might be able to share any working knowledge of a solution?
Thank you much.

Removing all jokes you can try to flash tmobile firmware and try on your sprint phone the phone theoretically should boot but since very few ppl use carrier much about sprint and tmobile bootloaders and modems are unknown so they are either similar or very different [emoji29] this is why many devs don't support carrier models of Samsung because of all this **** so all i or i am sure of it anyone would say is try and hope you can have basic functions working if that happens then if some bugs exist you can ask devs who by the way work in their free time to help you fix it
Primary suggestion is still sell sprint and buy tmobile phone i am actually serious
Or download g928t latest firmware from sammmobile flashing instructions are provided on download page download programs which they say are needed and see the video of how to install there is everything mentioned in detail but dont come complaining if phone does not boot
Sent from my SM-N920G using Tapatalk
Thanks for the helpful suggestion. That's about what I was thinking. My biggest concern is that I flash the Tmobile rom, it doesn't work and I can't flash it back. If I was sure I could still flash back to stock Sprint as a last resort, I'd be more comfortable taking the chance. Admittedly, I was surprised that the phone would unlock for Tmobile in the first place. For the longest time it was either CDMA or GSM and not both, so this is a new one for me.
