T-mobile Tab and Apple Keyboard, will it sync and work properly? - Galaxy Tab General

As above states, can anyone confirm this? I just returned the Verizon version because it's Bluetooth is locked down. I called a T-mobile corporate store but they could not confirm.
Thanks.

Good news!
I am typing this using Apple Bloetooth keyboard on Tmo Samsung Galaxy Tab. The keyboard model No is 1016.
You will need to scan for devices from the Tab and then enter pairing code using BT keyboard.
All arrows and number keys are operational. It is very unusual to work this way however very comfortable when need a lot of typing.

I'm getting one! I have the at&t version so I will confirm if it works!

Do you have the mouse with the little scroll ball? I'm trying to figure out if the scroll ball actually works like in the browser.
I have tested the Apple Trackpad and it works fine, its just not the best choice for the tab. The Apple keyboard does worm but I always have trouble pairing it up. I have to literally try 10 times before it will actually connect.

The model you suggested has issues pairing, but the mini wireless BT does it very quickly. The arrow keys let me move to the buttons below the text input area. I am not sure I will need a mouse. The size of this keyboard makes me think I will take it with me when I travel. I am thinking about a stand for the tab now.

I am using the Apple BT keyboard model A1255 and it works perfectly.
I agree that pairing it was a little complicated, I was not sure what the meaning of the green flashing light on the keyboard was. I was not sure if the keyboard was in pairing mode or not.
But once it was paired, it picks up very quickly and works without fail.

I have the A1314 model

Im glad I read this... I was not aware that the arrow buttons could be used to navigate.
I use Handcent for texting, and was not able to get over to the "send" button. Now after entering the text, I can right arrow over to the send button and hit enter!
Thank you!

Post any button finds here. I'm liking the keyboard for long writing sessions.

Jasjar now can pair with Stowaway Travel Mouse (bluetooth)

This is a tip about pairing the Stowaway Travel Mouse with JASJAR through Bluetooth.
I bought the Stowaway Mouse, and like many others, I could not get the mouse to pair, even though I downloaded the latest driver specifically for HTC Universal (= JASJAR). The setup screen would go from "Scanning for mouse..." to "Initializing connection..." back to "Scanning for mouse..." and on and on until it reports connection failure. I tried multiple times with multiple soft resets, to no avail.
I read online that someone reported he was able to pair after a hard-reset. I didn't do that, because I already have a lot of customization on my unit. I was on the verge of giving up and returning the mouse.
Then something happens by accident. In discoverable mode (after pressing the Discoverable button on the mouse and click "Connect" on the setup screen), while the screen says "Initializing connection...", I pressed the "Discoverable" button again by chance, only to find that it caused the screen to change to "Verifying connection..." and a red square appears on the screen for me to click, just like what the user manual says. After clicking the red square, the mouse started working.
I tried pairing the mouse again, using the same procedure. It paired successfully for the second time, and the third time. So this procedure is re-producible. I did notice there is an optimal timing when you should press that Discoverable button again to make it pair.
I also have the Stowaway bluetooth keyboard working at the same time. I have to say that, with both a mouse and a keyboard, it makes Jasjar a lot more productive.
Another thing I noticed but am not 100% sure, is that by turning off the "Power Efficient Mode" for both the keyboard and the mouse, their bluetooth connections seem more reliable.
Arrow?
Can you see the Arrow on the screen of Jasjar when move the Stowaway Mouse?
Thank
since i bought JasJar i was using this powerful mouse... i solved the problem by paring the mouse than Uncheck HID profile than delete the whole mouse from Bluetooth list.... then try to connect throwgh the Software that came with the mouse .... it will works YaaaaaY

Yes, the cursor arrow appears whenever the mouse is connected. If the mouse goes into standby, the cursor will disappear. So whenever you see the cursor on the screen, that means the mouse is ready to use.

Maybe I should give it another try. I had also gotten the mouse to work only when I frantically reset the discoverable mode over and over again during pairing. Getting the keyboard and mouse to work at the same time drove me nuts, I was only able to do it once. I had about given up on this, can you advise what you think the timing is for resetting the mouse during pairing?

I would say, wait about 1 second after the screen changes from "Scanning for mouse" to "Initializing connection", then press the Discoverable button again. The timing is not that strict. I believe you can get it working within two or three tries. You can pair the keyboard before or after pairing the mouse. Overall, the mouse connection seems to be less stable than the keyboard connection.
I also noticed that, after you power off Jasjar and the mouse, it is much better to turn on Jasjar first, and when Jasjar has fully woken up, then turn on the mouse. It is easier to restore the mouse connection this way (without re-pairing).
Oh my god, somehow this all worked. I'm using the mouse in safe mode, which is a pain in the arse sometimes when it leaves the mouse icon on the screen, but it's working, for now.
Big big thanks for the tips and inspiration to try this again!
I have a generic bluetooth mouse (www.omiz.net) which pairs and works perfectly fine with my EXEC, only thing is the cursor is not shown i can click around in Word Mobile etc and even scroll... but pretty pointless without a cursor.
I tried using it with the Stowaway BT mouse driver, no luck in pairing.
Unfortunately - I have only been able to get a generic driver for my manhattan generic mouse at http://cabfiles.net but it only works on WM2003SE and not WM5 - maybe we can convinec george to develop a WM5 driver .... :?
in case anyone has given up on this, it looks like the pairing issues might be solved in version 4.4: http://www.thinkoutside.com/support/Drivers.asp?ManufacturerID=17&ModelID=295
It seems like the pairing of both the keyboard and mouse goes much smoother now. I didn't need to reset the mouse connection while it was searching for the device, it just connected. Only problem I had was that the mouse gets a little laggy when using with a BT keyboard at the same time. This was in enhanced mode, not sure if safe mode solves that problem.

Does someone knows if it is possible to make this driver to work/pair with MS BT mouse?

Dell BT Keyboard + Fuze = ???

I'm trying to connect my Dell BT Keyboard to my Fuze. I go through the pairing process by using the passcode "1234" on the phone, then typing it into the keyboard and pressing enter, and it reports a successful pairing. However, in the list of bluetooth devices, the Dell BT Keyboard is listed under "disconnected" and when I go into it, it does not list any services as being available.
Is this keyboard just incompatible, or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks!
did your keyboard confirm connection? like blinking led or something?

it works for me...

T-mo Galaxy Tab works with Bt Keyboard!!

Damn.. its very nice,,!!
I was asking around and have searched the web to find out how to pair and connect my Tmo branded SGT with bluetooth keyboard for past few days, and now I got it working with my tab. I am typing this now with the apple bluetooth keyboard paired to my TAb.I have searched the web, and dound out that every devices with Froyo has built in HID BT device support. Thus, unless Samsung has removed that code from the os when they were coding, it should be there. People with G1, G2, Nexus, SGS were using the Bt keyboard out there already!! So I started to mass with my Bt keyboard and Tab to pair by trying every possible clicks..
So here comes what I have found so far and how to set it up with tmo SGT.
First, you have to turn on ur BT HID Keyboard to pairing mode X)
Second, you need to type the numbers required for the pairing with the keyboard numeric pad and click the enter with the keyboard. (This was where I first got confused since the tab has no screen to type on..)
Third, it will pair with ur Bt keyboard, but then it will fail to connect..
Don't be frustrated!. Here is the magic step. Got it? LONG PRESS THE DEVICE at the setting!! It will lead to the screen where you can choose whether 'connect, forget, or options'.
Fourth, click the options, Then check the connect and HID Device BOX!! That's it!
It will either directly connect with your keyboard or let you try again to connect.
And it connects! You can start typing with your Bt keyboard for ur TAB.
So simple..... can not believe that I have wasted past two days without being able to find out this simple step.(and many others were failing too!!...)
And since I was using the Apple BT keyboard. Here is what I have found so far regarding this specific device for my Tab.
1. Esc button works as back button on the Tab.
2. F1 button works as menu button on the Tab.
3. From the home screen, you can open google search by typing any words with the keyboard.
4. F3 button shows the message "this device does not have working dialer" box. :X
5. F4 turns off and on the screen of TAB
6. If you use languages other than english, you also can type in that language using Bt keyboard by simply pressing shift + space bar on the BT KEYBOARD.
However, to do so, you should install third party keyboard that supports physical keyboards..(for such as G1 or G2). Samsung default keyboard and google Korean IME( Obviously I am from Korea ) wouldn't allow me to do so. But some third party Korean keyboard and smart keyboard pro allowed me to do so.
That's it for now.
If I can find something else, I will update here as well...
Now I only need to wait for someone to hack this one to make voice call with 3G data.
Ps. Does anyone know good BT keyboard with track pad by chance? That way I may not need to get the mouse.... less devices to carry.... is always good.
On the VZW tab, theonly long press items are connect and unpair. There isn't an options.

that's weird... Once I paired it. then long press will show the option.
Of course, it wont show option menu until u actually pair it.
I thought verizon one had to be same as tmo one in most ways...
... by the way.. now I need to talk on the tab with 3g so that I can sell my galaxy s to make up the expanse for the tab. :S

I am having problems with my 3rd party bluetooth keyboard connecting. I did use the HID option, but it still will not connect. It does pair, but not connect.
Do you know if this process is supposed to work with other Bluetooth keyboards? I'm trying to connect a motorola keyboard and not having any luck.
I was able to get the Apple BT keyboard to connect to the SGT. Works great.

Bluetooth Mouse compatibility list?

Hi,
So I have been looking for information on which bluetooth mice work with the samsung vibrant. I currently have an apple bluetooth keyboard working well with the vibrant, but I'd love to have a mouse as well.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
EDIT: Here is a video of a guy using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse with his vibrant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21aVbYpgrRA - so how do we do it with a mouse and pointer?

Don't think this would work - there's no on-screen cursor.
Ditto. I remember Cyanogen added it as a feature not too many revisions back, so it isn't part of AOSP. Unless Samsung choose to add it... You can see where that is going.
So this is a video I saw a while back of a guy using a bluetooth keyboard AND MOUSE on his Vibrant. I'd like to do the same. How do I do it, and what mice will work? I know you two said that it can't be done, but this is proof otherwise.

I suggest you contact him. He mentions using a leaked build, so it definitely isn't a mainstream feature yet.
edit .. Bluetooth HID is a standard, so all you really need to do is figure out what build he found it in and any bluetooth mouse should work.
Okay, so I found his XDA post under the i9000 section.

mouse definitely works.. i use Apple's Mighty Mouse (pass: 0000) wireless without a problem... the scroll wheel works as the ones on the older HTC models...

[Q] Bluetooth keyboard repeating characters

Anyone running a bluetooth keyboard with their n10? I just bought the amazonbasics one (the iOS layout one because it has the function key row that the Android one did not). I'm having an issue where the keys are repeating. It seems to be tied to wifi, which follows what I've read elsewhere with other android tablets. I also have a bluetooth mouse attached. At one point I even got wifi and bluetooth to both completely disconnect for a few seconds. It seems like there is some sort of interference. I heard that there were a lot of complaints of the kindle fire doing this but a recent software update seems to have fixed it for them.
Any ideas?
So, it appears that the issue comes down to using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse together. I've tried two bluetooth mice with the same results. If I instead use a Microsoft Wireless 4000 mouse with usb dongle, I no longer have the issue.
Anyone else run into this before?

Try grabbing an app called external keyboard helper pro. I think there is also a free version. I read about tthis problem at some point, can't remember where now. Nexus 7 forum maybe, and someone posted saying that this app fixed the problem. I have been using it and no problems but I don't use my mouse all that often so I am not making promises

I have the AmazonBasics Android version. Although it sounds like you've isolated the repeating chars to the mouse, fwiw, I haven't seen this problem.
What I haven't tracked down is a complete list of keyboard shortcuts. The ones I've found on web and forum searches don't seem right for this keyboard with the N10. Any ideas?
I use a kensington bt kb with bornd bt mouse w motorocker headset.
all work smooth.. at first I thought they wernt pairing coz I was clicking it and it would say making device available ... but thats not what you hit... theres a little thing in the upper right corner of the settings page on bt that tells it to search for devices....
im amazed at how little the battery drains when using all three

ok, just for the record, i have the Motorola keyboard with track pad and apparently it uses the bluez bluetooth stack which has been dropped in Android from version 4.2 on
too bad
I am having the same issue while using both bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Individually, they both work flawlessly but only when both connected, wierd things started happenning. I'm using the Logitech K810 and a lenovo N6901 mouse.
After looking around for a bit, this doesn't seem like a new issue, namely BT keyboard and mouse don't play nice with each other. Does anyone know the underlying problem or even a solution? (I thought it was interference at first)
Wifi
+ Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810
+ Logitech Bluetooth Ultrathin Mouse T630
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (Android 4.1.2) - FAIL
Nexus 7 (Android 4.3 and 4.4) - FAIL
Sony Xperia Z (Android 4.2.2) - SUCCESS
All works well when it is just keyboard or mouse alone.
Maybe the Japanese are better hardware engineers than the Koreans or Taiwanese? :cyclops:
Microsoft Wedge BT keyboard
Bornd (mid-tier mail order) BT mouse
WiFi running
Works OK on 4.3. Cursor was jerky when I (briefly) had 4.4 installed (I've gone back to 4.3). I use the External Keyboard Helper program to remap some of the function keys for Android.
This doesn't address the OP's problem, but I do find that I have to turn on the mouse *before* turning on the keyboard, otherwise the mouse won't connect.
