PB81 - HD2 General

Hi Guys,
I have an HD2 with latest Stock Rom running. The Bootscreen shows PB81 instead of PB81100 as normal.

I thought this was already resolved in your other thread...you need to flash the stock ROM for your region and carrier, not the stock HTC one.

No unfortunately not. The phone was sold in Austria from Provider "Drei" without specific Carrier-ROM. I already flashed the original ROM from HTC-Website and the Problem is already there. I do have a similar phone (for my girlfriend) from same provider with other Sim-Unlock and it runs completly smoth without any freezes and GPS! It's flashed with Original HTC ROM.

Thanky for your hint, I already found it but as I understood, its recommended for T-Mobile-US-HD2. I have an European HD2 with official HTC-ROM and 512 MB instead of 1024 MB.
I already flashed SPL and HSPL, tried all provided by Bepe&Cotulla but PB81*** never changed. I think SPL flashing and changing does not really help because I tried all of them and PB81*** was never touched. SPL stands for "Second Program Loader" as I know and maybe I need a "First Program Loader" Flash/Hack!? So if there is anyone out there who could tell me how to change PB81*** to PB81100! Please help me!

I think samsamuel meant that the linked thread was good for your Leo, too, not only Leo1024.
As you write yourself, you should edit to PB81100 for a European device, that´s actually the difference.
Just do as described in the linked thread, but read the complete thread - it´s short, no big thing to try I guess.

Tried as described in thread.
1.) I downloaded the 1024MB HSPL2 EXE.
2.) I did TXT-file called "ModelIDCheckBypass.txt"
3.) I wrote PB81100 into TXT-file
4.) Stored TXT-file at C:\ and copied it also to directory where HSPL2 EXE is stored
5.) Both TXT-files are read-only
6.) Started the HSPL2 EXE with administrator privilegues, saw "We hacked it" (or something similar) on phone's display.
7.) Unfortunately PB81*** at Boot Screen.
I think the suggested solution in this thread does not really fix my problem. Because I do not have a problem with installing ROM from HTC. The walkthrough described in thread is to enable other HD2's for other ROMs.
I think I do have a problem one stack below SPL and I dont have experience there :-(

Did you try the same with HSPL2.exe? HSPL_1024 won´t work with European devices maybe...

I did the same steps also with that HSPL. Same result :-(

My LEO accepts any ROMS!

Hi, I have my hand on a technical Demo testing unit of LEO (for GSM network Testing purposes) that is accepting any roms no matter its origin..... WWE, 1.43, 1.48, RUS, TUR, 1.61 .... etc.
Was wondering if this could be of any help to our beloved developers and if there is anything to dump for their developement use?
Yes, yes indeed, the SPL and Radio are of use to us!!
Contact me via MSN if you can
Would also be really interested in this. Could you first dump your SPL using this command:
pmemdump 0x8ff00000 0x80000 dump.bin
in itsutils and maybe attach it here or send it to me? (MSN contact is in my profile)

It probably only supports official roms, but it's worth a try.
the device has been SuperCID'ed which is why he can flash any ROM, the bootloader is 1.41 unfortunately.
Damn.. We'd need an spl which includes the rtask command.. Seems that this is only included in MFG SPL's.. The SPL dumped from this phone is identical to our SPLs.. >.<
Btw.: Does your phone show SECURITY UNLOCKED at the top in bootloader mode?

it was running a test rom. I stupidly tried to update with Goldcard without considering the early SPL might cause an issue. I've tried flashing every .nbh I can get my hands on but it fails at the radio_V2 part every time. I'm able to run the RUU for any ROM as my device is CID unlocked but this fails at around 93% every time with the message 'The file is corrupt'.
By the way does anyone know anything about my SPL?? Seems like it's a long way off anyone elses out there..... my device also says MFG so I'm assuming it might be of some use in cracking HSPL but it's practically a paperweight to me.
Try connecting your device with mtty and send the command "set 14 0".
If this won't work, PM me, I'll send my custom ROM to you (I'm not sure you can use it, but trying has never killed anyone!).

Phone bricked - does anybody have an official T-Mobile ROM?

Ouch - after trying to SSPL my phone, it doesn't boot anymore. It's a T-Mobile branded Leo which doesnt allow to flash original HTC ROMs.
Now I need to try a T-Mob version. Anybody Can provide one ?
Thanks !
have you tried downloading an official rom from HTC with your phone's serial number?

Thanks for the tip, but: Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device.
Anyone who has a T-Mob ROM from somewhere ?
Thanks!

Hello Matmax,
I had the same Problem, but you can try a Hardreset.
Turn your LEO off ( Battery out and in)
Press Volume up and down together
and turn HD2 on.
I had to try several times.
There is no official T-Mobile ROM to download.

For me it seems so :-(
I tried several hard resets, doesn't help. Thnanks also for the UK stock ROM, but that gives me another INVALID VENDER ID

I had the problem first time using SSPL it crashes and stayed at bootloader. Every time fails You disconnect the cable and reconnect, Then re tried several time running SSPL with IT2 rom and 3rd or fourth attempt it worked. If not UK 1.48 version will work on T mobile uk.

HELP - Vodafone UK user, ROM issues? *noob*

I recently bought my HTC HD2 from Vodafone UK, it has a ROM 1.43.405.1 and I cannot update the ROM from HTC website because after insert my SN in the validation box it tells me I cannot get the update....
What should I do?
I saw many ROMs on 4shared but I think they not the same in the HTC site...If they are which one of the should I get for my HTC and why? Will I be able to use my phone with my UK Sim?
Help please...
Windows on your ROM is licensed software, and you bought the license implicitly with your Leo, therefore is it "not possible" to just change ROM.
Having said that , google the forum a bit for SSPL and/or HSPL. there are several (graphical) guides that will tell you how to use them (sticky threads).
good luck!

Any idea where can I see the features?
To put on other non mobile brand ROM, I must unlock the mobile first, right?
If that is the case, how do I unlock it?
If I put one ROM in the mobile and them upload another one will it delete the features from the one that was on the phone previously?
flashing roms is not connected to thee phone being network locked. it will still be locked after you flash it.

No, doing a hard reset will only ever restore it to the rom you last flashed.
To get back to 'as you bought it' you need to find the rom that matches your device.
(for example in your case, voda UK, you find this rom
RUU_Leo_Vodafone_UK_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26. 50.07U_2.04.50.22_2_Ship.exe
)
If you then need to get back to stock, and remove HSPL, you can do it with that rom. (not quite as simple as just flashing it, , see the HSPL thread for how to remove HSPL)

One more question, each ROM completely cleans the before it, right? The features do not stuck up (add on)?
I would advise AGAINST blindly leeching any ROM from any online file sharer.
check this forum, read a bit, and select a ROM from a chef that has cooked something you like (speed, looks like stock, removed HTC, removed bloatware, etc etc). I've tried many, and almost all on this forum are excellent (some are more excellent than others though)..
Flashing a ROM completely cleans ALL settings on your phone, all data is gone, besides whatever is on your SD card.
same if you select Settings/Wipe Device option from the start menu.

Be aware that whilst flashing wipes all your old data/settings and such like, it doesn't necessarily wipe the old rom before flashing the new one, just flashes over it.
Roms can be different file sizes, (just compare a few RUU_Signed.nbh file sizes) so sometimes files can be left over from the previous rom. If you start getting random resets and freezes when you didnt before, it could be a sign of a bloated rom. Have a read of the mtty sticky. It looks a little overwhelming at first read, but dead simple really, and basically formats your rom before you flash the new rom.
my 2 pence here...
get the official WWE 1.66 ROM and see if that helps the phone, the 1.43 VF ROM is crap and both 1.48 and 1.66 are miles better so first thing is to give these a go. If, after successfully installing it, you wanna try something else then do so...
and read the n00b thread at the top of this forum...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
it tells you what to do, with videos if needed...
Hi, I have the same vf handset and was sick of the crappy ROM, I upgraded yesterday after weeks of research and was surprised how easy it was.
However, having had a day to test out my new 1.66 ROM, I have unfortunately found some problems and part of me think maybe I should have waited a little longer for vf to release it officially.
I'm hoping you guys will be able to help again as it may just need different tweaks to the settings...
1. The first problem is that Opera is slightly different, the settings tab has changed, it no longer allows zooming (including pinch zooming) and the pages are not displayed as full width. I have played with all the setting I can in Opera and BsB Tweaks but no joy.
2. I can no longer access TV catchup through Skyfire. The advertisement plays as normal and then it says "non-UK, unauthorised". Is this because it is a WWE ROM and not a UK one? Why isn't there a specific UK ROM like there was for 1.48?
3. Although the alarm volume bug seems to have been fixed, the alarm popup doesn't come up any more when it goes off, making it very difficult to "snooze" or "dismiss".
4. Several error messages have come up relating to the actual phone app, messaging app and audiomanager. The phone has also crashed and gone slow a bit and overall the messaging app is a little more buggy despite it appearing to send all messages.
Any advice would be much appreciated as this does seem as though it could be a much better ROM with some great benefits.
1.48 was also a WWE ROM - there hasn't been a set UK one other than ISP-based ones

Fair enough. I was just going by what it was implying on the HTC support page. 1.48 specifically says UK whereas 1.66 simply says WWE and makes no mention of UK.
Does anyone have any advice on the issues I'm having?
Also, if I wanted to revert back to the vf 1.43 ROM using the SD card to remove HSPL, how do I know the file I've downloaded from the shared folders is exactly the same as I had before? I read that it is more risky flashing without HSPL as you have less chance of fixing it if something goes wrong, does this also go for the method of reverting back using the SD card as it is removing the HSPL?

Used to use cooked rom, phone function sudden failed.

I used to use cooked rom, tried 6.1, 6.5 and 6.5.x.
Failed to search for phone signal today, confirmed not SIM card problem.
Will cooked rom damage hardware? Thanks!
I don't think so , Hard-reset your phone with your Sim-card inside it and it will work again
If the problem still persist, try to install radio from this link :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440503
If that does not solve the problem, I think the only way is to install a shipped ROM that suits with your phone's specification (ELF or ELFIN, Model ID and etc).
But don't forget to return your SPL and IPL to origina ones when you will load a shipped ROM. You can find them on XDA Wiki.
Hope your Elf (Elfin?) will be Ok!
How can I know my original IPL? SPL?
if you didn't run the dsixda script before hand that grabs all your information, and have sinced changed your IPL/SPL then I'm not sure.
However, If you know your phone model number (T-MOB0005 etc.) You may be able to guesstimate to what they were based on that - Personally, I think that could be a bit risky, but it was worth the suggestion.
Do you remember if you have changed the IPL and SPL? You could always run the dsixda script now to see what you have. It should be in the ROM section
Sorry I can't be more help, but I can only make a suggestion as to how, as I have always took a note of them before starting anything.
At the same time - I also have an elf that is unable to connect to a network, I have tried radio upgrades etc and custom roms, so if you do fix it, I know that I would appreciate the outcome, as would many others who have posted the same issue - In the mean time I am continuing my hunt for a fix for it

Was the rom made specifically for your t-mo device? Could be you're trying to flash an incompatible. (Though I am quite certain if that's the case, an error should pop-up)
