I am new to this forum. My husband just purchased this tablet while out of town and we are tryong to video chat on yahoo messenger but the invite to web camera is not an option to click on. On my laptop it says that he is not using the current version of messenger for video chat. Can someone please, please help me figure out what he needs to do. Thanks in advance.
I have attempted to run the yahoo video chat from my S7 but the app requires android 2.2 or higher. The S7，at present runs 2.1，and video chat is not available. The tech support folks are planning an update soon to 2.2 so we should be in good shape then. I have been told that fring video chat will qork but have no experience with it. Might be worth a try
if you can find the app for the laptop.

I don't think it will work. Skype has some sort of contract with Verizon. I think until they are done or Skype releases an all-android application, we are SOL.

SO I never though yahoo could ever do. This..... I was video chatting with my fam from Italy and videocalling with yahoo app.... when I had a update from yahoo.... I though I was gonna get a new update for better video quality or something. So I updated it and guess what happen..... f*yahoo video call didn't work no more...... I think they are. Gonna give some exclusive right for new phones commin. Up next year..... what you all think of that

could you point me in the direction of the version that worked from you- did you originally get it from the market? the one I got from xda (ripped from a tmobile rom) did not work on my epic- thanks in advance

The same version from xda work for me but like I said.... thanks to the greatest yahoo update it gives you a FC I can up load the app with the extend file and u could try it if u want

that version must not have been out long... but i did dl messenger about a week ago and sure enough no video support. only for iPhone, according to their site... i thought engadget was just bragging about it coming to android.... ofw.

hey guys you know what, mine works fine just uninstall your yahoo mail it will work promise, but first uninstall mail and messenger then install messenger then add on..

I'm sorry but I forgot to tell u I'm using TMO G2. idk when I opened first my ym it says I have to update bcoz its not compatible with yahoo mail, what I have done is uninstall yahoo mail, messenger and deleted video call add on then reboot, DL ym from this thread not the one from market and include the add on then I installed it it worked for my phone.. hope it works

No wonder ......that app is created to sopport that phone for now....that what I know.... I believed yahoo notice about this app working in any bilt infront camara.... so they have to take it down or patch something so it won't work with other phone but g2(exclusivety for t-phone to not said the right brand name....(lol)that's how u sell more phones)u know how the flow goes with usa brands and companies

No its not supported I just DL it from this thread its a hacked leak software were not allow to use this that's why they updated it, I'm just telling you I can still use my video call when I woke up this morning I cannot use my ym it says its not compatible with yahoo mail that I need to update it, I tried a couple of times then I uninstall yahoo mail, messenger and addon then reboot it DL the file from here not from market(don't install mail)then poof it works I'm just trying to help if it don't work then I'm sorry

I got the Tablet this morning, and was very happy that it arrived so quickly. However, it seems that there is a several bugs in the system that I don’t know what to do about it.
Yahoo messenger will install, allow you to enter your log in information, but will get stuck on yahoo screen with the smiley face, and “loading contact list.” but will NOT load in. Skype and Nimbuzz works fine BTW.
Pandora Radio will not load at all, and will give several error messages. Boots to Pandora splash screen with the following message Pandora http error occurred code: 417 startupAsyncTask
Sling Media player will log in but won’t load the video.
Since I’m deployed in Iraq, it would be much easier to try to fix the problem before thinking of returning the tablet, so, I used Rom Manager, and tried clearing the cached data associated with it. Restored to factory setting. Then I got in contact with Yahoo who after 2 hours of tech support cannot tell me why this is happening. Pandora referred me to Samsung, and Sling Media don't offer support for the tablet, they only offer support to their software. I really don’t have the time and tools to chase tech support from here. Can someone HELP PLEASE?
I'm in South Korea, and I cannot get many US based services, such as Pandora, Hulu, even last.fm will not work here. Amazon is asking if I live in the US and will not let me purchase books or music because I am outside the US.
This may be the problem you are having. But I did not have any problem with Yahoo mail using the Yahoo mail app.
Perhaps you need to set the tab for WiFi only? Just a guess.
i'm using WIFI, and My tablet is GT-P1000 UK model. Oh one more problem i forgot to earlier. i use VPN, it will let me connect but i will have no connectivity to any thing after that. should i flash my tablet? would that solve the problem? if so is there is a full guide, and files on how to flash a UK tablet to stock ROM
Its peobibily because you need to be in the uk to use those services. Try a uk based vpn with web access

Used it earlier today to talk with my brother in mexico, it worked exceedingly well.
iirc, it comes already installed.
Its a native google app, not a market app.
I couldnt get it to work intially but it turns out its tied to my google apps account for some reason. Once i signed out of the apps account and signed in with a regular gmail account it worked beautifully chatting with my girlfriend over 4g tethering on my Evo. I cant wait until someone gets 2.3.4 working on the Evo so we can have the android phone/chat functionality.

Argh...I thought I looked for Talk on it and didn't find it, but alas, it is there. ( I had to install it from market on my phone, so assumed I had to do the same thing here).
Sounds good. I presume this does work with Google Chat...so if someone is on their PC and Browser (not signed into Talk) it would work. Seems to me like at some point I had to join a Talk account with Google.

for tablet to pc video chat, the person on the pc needs to be in the browser (like a gmail window) and have the video plugin installed.
I use it with my Google Apps account no problem.
The sound quality from the other side isn't great... I don't know if Talk is crap, the other computer is crap, or the speakers on the TF are crap...
Nice to have video chat though, I just wish Samsung would release 2.3.4 for Galaxy S II

I was experimenting with this earlier today with a coworker that has an iphone 4g. I think vtok nuked some of the video quality but it worked.
