Facebook Help: Help: An error had occurred while fetching data [null]

All of a sudden I got "An error had occurred while fetching data [null]" every time I want to see my live feed and my own profile from my Nexus One phone (stock Facebook app). I have no problem accessing it from the browser or PC.
Strange thing though, when i log out, then re-login using OTHER facebook account, I can see the live feed and the profile page no problem. Everything works fine again.
However, once i login using MY account, problem starts again.
I have hard reset my N1, problem still there.
Any idea? Please help.
I like the stock Facebook app on N1, don't really want to install another app or use browser to access it.
Oh and my N1 is stock, no root yet.

Calm down and take a deep breath I have the same problem. It is not your phone it is facebook server. I had the problem yesterday shortly and today in the morning. Now it seems ok for me...wait until they repair the problem and use the browser application in the meantime...

I've had this issue on the Desire ROM where the live feed on the Friend Stream just refuses to update... I was "locked out" for a few days.

strange, it wasn't working for a while until u put the facebook widget on my home. click on the facebook icon, then ta-da! all working again.
Not sure if it was a coincidence...

It's a problem with some 3rd party apps that push data to your facebook feed and the client's interpretation of the XML. Zynga apps being one of them.
You can experiment by hiding various 3rd party apps form your facebook feed (or logging in when you get the error on a computer and seeing what apps were there and not on your phone).
Once they're hidden (or, over time as they pass further down the history list) your feed will work fine.

i don't play games on facebook, nor have i allow any games to be on my profile.

Not just games this can be form ANY third party app that has an illegal character in it....this includes quizes, "who visited your profile", horoscopes, any of those things, anything that is not a pure-facebook update.

Same problem here on htc desire S. On wifi all is ok. On 3g ''An error had occurred while fetching data (null.)'' This is very strange.

[devs needed] FREE phone calls from Google

As some of you know, you can now place FREE calls to anywhere in the US or Canada using GMail and the "voice and video chat plugin". You can also receive calls from within GMail if you have a GoogleVoice account and you set it up to forward GoogleVoice calls to "Google Chat" as well as your phone(s).
This is awesome! I can now answer calls from GMail instead of my phone. I wish the desktop GoogleTalk app did that so I wouldn't have to always keep a webbrowser page open to GMail, but that is not what this post is about...
I got to thinking: if GMail can place and receive free phone calls, why can't I do that on my phone (or any device with internet)? I downloaded every available webbrowser for Android and tried to surf to GMail, but none of them even loaded the page (???), much less the plugin.
While searching for any possible solution, I learned that the required "voice and video chat plugin" is available for Linux. This fact makes me almost positive that it is somehow possible for someone to develop an Android app that loads that plugin, logs in to GMail (spoofing a desktop browser), and displays the Pop-out dial pad capable of placing and receiving free calls!
Is anyone up to the challenge? This is huge people! FREE phone where ever there is internet. I hope someone can make this happen on Android devices, since it already works perfect on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
EDIT: Lots of info in the SIPdroid thread I found after posting this, but it still would be nice to just make an XMPPdroid app and not have to deal with connecting Jabber to SIP. If my linux PC can make free Google VOIP calls without setting up additional SIP and PBXes accounts, then my Android phone should be able to too.

Great idea! Im sure others are working on it. Im all for free calling wherever there is internet. Not sure if the cell phone carriers ate gonna like it.

I've thought the same, currently I'm using SipDroid>pbxes>sipsorcery>sipgate>GV. Anything a bit simpler would be great. Plus when i try to hook up a friend, at least one of those sites aren't open to the public;gizmo is a simpler setup, hasnt been open since google bought it and has been sitting on it ever since. If I find anything I'll post here

this would be really nice. cell carriers are already ripping us off unnecessarily. this would give us some ways out

PBXes added support for the gtalk trunk recently and their latest sipdroid application can even set that all up for you today. In the end you'll have sipdroid->pbxes->gtalk with direct dialing.
I've been using it for a week or so now and it works better than any other solution I've tried, except for a sipdroid/android bug where a bluetooth disconnect causes the phone to reboot.

I can't get IM to work in Social Hub

Is anyone else having this problem. I am in the U.S. and when I try to enter gtalk or yahoo messenger it gives me an error. I am running stock uk firmware.

mine worked for a couple of days but now i cant connect to ym. i deleted my ym account and added it again but i get an internal error message. when i try the im ap it doesnt work too.
facebook, gmail, and google chat work though. i downloaded the official ym app and i am able to connect through it, however i like using the social hub as its like a one stop for all my messages.
i have a feeling that something got corrupted in the program. is there a way to reset the social hub/im app like clearing its cache or overwriting files?

It happened to me and someone else when we updated to KF3. I had no problem with it in KE7. I did a hard reset and it still won't work. Something's broken. The good news is 2.3.4 is supposed to be out in about three weeks so hopefully it'll be fixed then.

in my case, it could just be a samsung server glitch. i have facebook, gmail, google chat and ym setup in social hub right now.
a bit OT, but how do you guys feel about the security of using hubs. do they use ssl or similar encryption tech to protect our passwords and purchases?

Are you on KF3 or KEX? It always worked on earlier ROMs. The Social Hub is routed through Samsung servers which is why there's periodic performance hits. I'd guess its encrypted - Samsung wouldn't want a replay of the Sony PSN debacle.

[Q] US Play Store on UK Nexus 7?

Does anyone know how to get the US Play Store working in the UK on a UK Nexus 7?
I want access to the magazines and TV shows which I can't get over in the UK store. I already registered my gmail account to a US address and bank card number (I used it on the US iTunes store). I also have a VPN but I don't know how to set up the N7 to use it like that...

u can try downloading hotspot shield on your computer(i think they have an app for android too) to get the US Play store. and try sending the app u downloaded to your device. not sure if it would work. but i tried it once and i was able to use the US play store. but didn't bother to try it out.

It turns out that all I had to do was set it up using a shared US VPN and it loaded all the US apps to my Nexus 7 including Google Wallet. It even generated me a prepaid card to use for shopping with $10 credit.
There are some extra things I did to make it work however which may or may not make a difference and even after these steps the US apps vanished after a few hours disconnected from the US VPN.
Steps I took:
1. Set up a US gmail address.
2. Set up a US Unlocked prepaid US debit card and US address (this works great on iTunes as well).
3. Purchased a US VPN service and set up the VPN to share over WiFi on my Mac so that as soon as I logged in on the N7 it thought I was in the US.
4. Registered my US unlocked card and address to my US gmail address.
5. Reset N7 and connected to shared US VPN over WiFi.
The N7 thought it was in the US and everything loads and works. Including the US $25 credit for buying a N7.

Now I had two problems here. I couldn't redeem my US credit as my US Unlocked card was not topped up yet.
So I couldn't download anything either using the free credit or the topped up card yet.
I disconnected the VPN and it would load up the UK store no problem. All the US apps remained accessible. I made an additional gmail account so I had one US and UK account as well.
I left the N7 connected to my standard WiFi and a few hours later all the US apps were gone!
Reconnecting to the US VPN had the effect of allowing the play store to let me access all the magazines and TV shows but I couldn't see if downloading a magazine would make the play magazines app appear again or not.
My next steps here are to reconnect to US VPN for several hours and see if that brings back the US apps and when I have credit on the card to try purchasing and see if the apps remain.
What is clear is if I reset the N7 I can set it up again as a US N7 with all the apps.
I find it strange that the US apps would be removed automatically because if you went on holiday from the US to anywhere else in the world then all your US content would be removed after a few hours connected to foreign WiFi.
That doesn't seem right...?!
LETS TRY IT ON A GALAXY NEXUS
So I thought I wonder if I can make this work on a stock unlocked GN without rooting.
I had a US prepaid T-Mobile SIM lying around that doesn't work but I put it in the GN and reset it to factory and connected to the US Shared VPN.
And it worked... Wallet appeared and I was again able to generate another $10 gift card. (If I go on a US holiday I have made $20 from nothing!).
What was strange was that the play store would not let me access any music, movies, TV shows or books - only the app store.
I then put my UK Sim back in and restarted the GN and all the US apps vanished again but the play store allowed me access to all its UK products again.
Stuck the US SIM back in and the apps came back but store only showed apps again. Wallet was back as well.
It seems to me that the play store won't load anything other than apps on the GN without a working US SIM card but will allow Google Wallet to work.
I realise that I can root the galaxy nexus and set up custom firmware to make this work but I don't need to do that - I was just experimenting with the phone.
The N7 on the other hand I would like to be able to access US content at all times so I will try again when I have credit on my US unlocked card.

How did you manage to get a 'Shared us VPN' Would really appreciate any help!

[Q] Grooveshark problem

Hi,
Weird problem/issue - was using Grooveshark.com mobile beta through Chrome over the past few weeks with no issues. Tried yesterday and today (not sure if it happened post update to 4.1.2) but couldn't get any tracks to play. It keeps hanging the browser, have tried Chrome, Boat and Firefox and all the same - select the track and then when I press play nothing happens, apart from a hanging browser - have the app but there's a limit to the number of tracks you can schedule. I have an iPhone which is running Grooveshark fine via Chrome and on the same wireless network - anyone any ideas?

I have been having similar issue since switching to jellybean. I contacted Grooveshark support and they said a new update in the new year should solve many bugs for newer devices. They basically admitted that there are major bugs with grooveshark anywhere. If you try the mobile app enable verbose logging send logs. Make sure to email support with the account info attached to the logs. Good luck
