I cast my eye on the first page of the "general" forum. Approximately 40% are dreary, negative topics that this is an indirect response to. As for nexus loving posts....they are well buried.

I have never had a single issue with my nexus, except self inflicted custom rom problems, and if I did have a major problem I would take it up with my phone supplier and not bore the pants off you lot on here with it. I merely make the point that there is a large amount of posts that in one way or another, ooze negativity and this is my counterbalance, because if a curious non nexus owner read these forums they would get the impression that Nexus S is a flawed and dodgy device. The XDA powers that be should consider opening another section for Nexus S "General complaints and moans". I think it would be the most popular forum and I could avoid it.

Overall great thread. My wife and I both love our nexus s'. I owned an epic for months and that was a horrible device. Ay least with the nexus s Google is working on fixing the problems. People just need to either sell the phone their unhappy with or shut the hell up. Last i checked this wasn't xda-whingers.com it was xda-developers.com

I actually regret this thread. It was due to depression/despondency reading about all the unhappiness generated about Nexus S. I am fine now and have personal inner peace about Nexus S. My one hope is that those few who love their nexus feel able to say so openly on this thread

I have been feeling the same way lately. Every other thread is "waah my phone won't do this" or "Rawr I'm so angry that my phone does that". Its silly. If you're not happy about something chatting on the internet won't fix that. Either just shut the hell up about the issues your having because they will get fixed or sell it and get the hell out of here.
In answer to the above, is that i hope and pray that google sort the issues out and i get to keep this lovely device?
And i apologise to the guy above (willcpfc), not for sure saying "you were an idiot" ...more trying to stop you going down a path where you don't consider perfectly rightful concers as warranted.

My point is that if you really want you bugs fixed, this is not the place. Google doesn't troll XDA for bugs it needs to work out, it has its own system in place that actually is pretty nice. All of the bugs I've heard of are on Google's bug reporting forum and if you have the issue go star it and comment. That's how you get the problem fixed not just constantly whinging on a developers forum.

I am happy as well. =) The only thing that could make my Nexus S better is getting a higher stable overclock =D (come on, 1.8GHz!)

I am sure it will grow and flourish like a flower in summer. We will see great things and be able to complete with dual core competition. a) Purchase 1/8th oz high grade marijuana.
b) Take a portion of the marijuana and remove the pointy stems.
c) Roll the marijuana into a Zig Zag brand rolling paper.
d) Ignite the now rolled marijuana cigarette or "joint"*.
e) Inhale the smoke and hold it in a bit.
f) Repeat until the joint burns your fingertip.
h) Play your favorite LP. I Personally recommend anything Beatles, Meat Puppets, Beach Boys, or Built to Spill. Should you have ****ty taste in music, Legend by Bob Marley will probably be in your collection. That'll do for now.

I went for HTC Desire. There will be probably another member coming here as I sold my X10. I wish you all the best of luck and hope the update will be worth the wait. I simply did not have the patience. Desire is a wonderful piece of a phone. What I am sorry for is the big screen of X10. I still cannot get used to the smaller one.
All the best and hope SE will change their attitude for the better!

Only problem with that is by the time the X10 gets the 2.1 other phones will be running gingerbread and the value for the X10 will drop even more.

I remember the good ol days when people just dropped by, downloaded some stuff, left nice comments and went about their day. Lately, bout the last month or so, the threads have been filled with "I donated a dollar, I want my ROM" or "can I get an ETA on this?" (which is the rudest question I've ever seen here) or just people arguing or one-upping each other. I fear we're losing the community-based friendliness of this site as the days go along.
As we can see, a few devs have had enough and already left. How much longer is everyone gonna keep this up? It's like I visited XDA one day and it turned into an AOL n00b forum. It sucks. I want the old XDA back where people didn't cry about CM missing deadlines (they just visited again later and if a new CM was up they were happy, if not they just came back later), people didn't complain about Damageless losing his job and having to focus on his life instead of ours, people simply enjoyed what was available instead of hounding devs about when stuff is coming out.... I must say it'll be released when it's released!
I just don't understand what's so difficult about giving those who give us the time of our lives time to breathe and enjoy their lives too. It shouldn't matter whether a "donation" of a $1 or $1000 is made - the devs (and some of the senior members, shucks, even like me) deserve a lot more respect than what's going around lately. I have seen this before with Forums as the user-base grows and popularity increases, which Android brought many non technical users into the smartphone era, your impatient/arrogant/immature user-base grows as well and since they are still learning how things work but want it now since this is the era of entitlement your gonna get alot of asshats wanting there ROM now or there FIX now. It sucks but It happens.
One thing about XDA is its never been that user friendly or at least as long as I have been here. Seems like a few people come here just to be assholes. They know everything and even if you agree with them they will still act like dicks. With that said I try to stay out of those situations. Sit back in my thread and sometime comment on topics. Sorry but its true.

This. The Evo was the first time that an android device really blew up with the non-technical crowd, and of course XDA has a reputation, so all of the new users came here. Unfortunanly, they don't really understand what it means to be a member of a development community though, and look at XDA like it's just another smartphone forum.

This is true, but back then people just took it in stride. Also, people have gotten a lot less militant about posting in the wrong threads. Back in june/july though, it was rough. And god forbid you didn't search first...

I lightened up my statement a bit.. its not a lot just a select few.
I've been guilty of wrong thread bashing myself it can be kinda fun. All depends on how out of place the topic is.
P_dub_S has it right. the market just expanded so much for androids. its like when blackberry came out with the Pearl and every teenage girl had one lol... most of the new phones arnt owned by tech people. hopefully in the fallowing months they will calm down. stil think the best forum was the xda section for the eris im just happy to have a phone lol so dont mind me

People must think that making roms/themes/kernels is just a bunch of copying and pasting or something...one thing that bugs the living hell out of me is on those Desire HD port threads...if the OP doesn't respond in 3 days, they just bump it saying something like "Well...I guess this is dead..." Exactly. What people don't understand is this is a hobby. We are not making a living doing this, and I do not get paid for this. Yes its true that we do receive donations but not NEARLY as many as I think people assume.
imho...these forums which used to be filled with great developers turned into a forums filled with the developers wanting compensation or in prettier words "beer money" for their time and effort instead of "joy and fun" or "hobby" of making roms and is slowly becoming more "pay-to-play" and if you don't pay, they take their business elsewhere to their own "pay-to-play" forums....just my own observation going from windows mobile development to android....

Not doubting you, but I'm curious (because I don't frequent other forums, or noticed anyone leaving), who took their "business" elsewhere, and where did they take it? I haven't really seen that - those donation links in the sigs have been around forever...

He is correct I have seen a few developers take their ROMs elsewhere (create their own website) but I'm not sure it was about money. I have donated to a few chiefs because I understand the time that goes into making these ROMs. Its time I could be spending with my kids. People seems to feel chiefs are obligated to do this for some reason. I do it because I like it not because I want to get paid. I get paid at work. When people complain at you all the time it turns it into work and then it isn't fun anymore.
Screw all of you....I payed my turkey sandwich and a hooker! I want my damn daily updates with a rom so spectacular that it will make me a full course meal.
Of course im playing but i cant help but agree with you. I find that i spend more time sorting through "non searchers" than anything else. I hope to see this calm down over the next year. Good thing about this is that people will only get smarter and simmer down....My car forums(g35driver.com) is getting worse as the car gets cheaper. More kids and ridiculousness.

I've had my tf for about a month now and whether it's luck or just the norm, I haven't had any issues thus far.
Some may arise in the future but as of right now I am happy. But that's besides the point.
The issue here is that people are abusing xda. If you have issues with your deivce that aren't related to "hacking" then this is not the place to cry about. Either contact Asus support or deal with it. Xda has the greatest devs in the world, unfortunately not even they can help people who are incompetent.

You are correct about this being the general forum, I understand were you are coming from on that...
But you contradict yourself when you say that smooching is the same as complaining because you make it seem like smooching is more prevailent when it clearly is not. You can lookvat the first 5 pages of the general tf forum and the ratio of complaints to smooching is like 5 to 1. Once again, the complaints themselves aren't what people are having problems with, it's the flood of them and the continued spamming of the same damn threads. I have been on this forum since before the tf came out and smooching has never been an issue because those threads are few and in all reality are more of "reviews" than complaints or praises...
If you're trying to justify all of these stupid ass threads then you are ridiculous. Not much more to it than that.

That's not the definition of contradiction.
The two are the same. Quantity is a different issue entirely and in this case why don't you stop and think about why there is such a large difference in that 5 to 1 ratio of yours. It's not because the ones who have a problem with it are drinking a different kool-aid than the ones who love the TF.
That "large difference" speaks volumes about the disapproval rate of the overall community. Asus needs to see that, informed customers need to see that. Any attempt at cutting that out is a biased, artificial attempt at engineering a facade not unlike North Korea. Asus and informed customers need to see that their TF can fall apart and what happens when it does and why people leave and how many leave.

The "large dissaproval" rate is due 100% to what these forums have become and human nature. when people are unsatisfied for whatever reason they feel the need to be heard. Unfortunately people in there real lives don't give a damn so they conlme to xda were they know they will get a reaction. People who are satisfied on the other hand don't feel the need to be heard because they are happy...
A better judge on the "community perspective " of the tf would be customer reviews on websites such as amazon, which last time I checked were very positive for the tf ...
Why are we even arguing over this? Spamming is spamming. Its against xda rules. Argue all you want, it doesn't make a difference. The ridiculous amount of threads being started on a daily basis complaining about the same thing has gotten to be too much.

and yet you seem to feel the need to comment. i take back my earlier comparison. xda is obviously just as full of fanboys as archosfans.
btw i love my tf, have very little problem, but its not perfect and obviously asus has some qc issues. nothing compared to archos, but still unarguable.
i find threads detailing issues and comparisons very useful and tend to have more objective information than the "share your love" topics with the "ooohhhh its so fast" commennts. issue threads and devicce comparison reviews are a buyers tools.
"if you dont like your tf take it back".... agreed, also feel free to share your experience.

i dont think anyone is debating that there are issues with the TF. What i think is important is that if you google 'xoom dust under screen' or 'ipad 2 dust under screen' or 'samsung tab 10.1 dust under screen' ... or the same with light bleed ..... you will find that every manufacturer has similar issues. i dont think its unique to the TF.

This is what happens when people complain and whine because they feel entitled to get everything from the devs. As nice as it would've been to have a fix from SuperC, you have to realize that he's releasing apps for soooooo many devices, he really is a truly awesome developer but he's still human and doesn't owe anyone a damn thing. If people want fixes for stuff then start reading and code you're own damn device or shut the hell up.

I won't go on and state how the flaming and the attitude that the devs work for us is BS. Every time I defend the devs or flamees I get a bad pm from a mod.

The thing is people didn't ask for the fix right now or even later, it was not a ETA question, but more like: was he still working on it or not, so people could move on and stop waiting for a fix that would never come.
That got him mad. I can understand that. Maybe he was in a bad mood or something.
It's true a couple of dumbass talked about spamming him to get him to move, and that was just so stupid I can't believe it happened.
Now everyone that was just genuinely hoping that the dream of a perfect screen would come true one day can just say goodbye to that.
Everybody is punished for the sin of a few. It always works like that in real life too.

The fact is, that he has every right to do as he pleases.
A fact is also that many good programmers are very bad in communication.
Maybe we should get a collection together or bounty for a dev to make an app for us, then if the app does not turn up, or does not work correctly working, no money.
Just a list of members names, everybody pays 10$ on completion of the app via paypal start a new thread just for this.
My Note works great, and i don't want to root it, so i don't really need the app myself it was just a thought.

So very true, but one in modern world will face repercussions for that.
SC can not be surprised for community backslash. He manifested such surprise.
Thats what happens when people put a slur a dev's character in a thread - I don't blame the bloke for closing it and wiping his hands with the Note Community, some of the posts were downright personal.
Come on People. Note doesn't ends here. Someone will step-in the shoe (one fine day). Besides there are other worlds to sing in.

nobody talked about spamming SuperC,what was suggested was to send him a PM so that people with this problem will show him that he should kindly assist and update the status of the project.it was made clear that nobody is spamming him and the Gnote owners are just desperatethis got him angry but yet an apology was rendered

Like anyone who says stuff on the internet, it has to be taken with a handful of salt but saying something as clear as that from a recognized dev DOES inspire hope in a fix.
Quit defending him. He's old enough to defend himself if he indeed feels he's being attacked, and by my standards he should've expected at least some reaction. Bait and switch will piss people off; according to the closed thread he was holding off for public ICS release because it was required for the app to work.
Personally, now that I have an S3, I can return the note under warranty for a fix.

I don't think he did anything wrong by closing the thread.
Some trolls wanted to 'seek attention' and started spamming the thread.
If there was NO solution, he would have closed it long ago.

Nono, it doesn't work like that. You just can't open a thread and say you will save the world, and then let it dye not answering doubts and questions from other users. Next time, FIND a solution first and THEN tell the world. OR accept people *****ing.
