[Q] Bluetooth not working after Dexter mod - A7 General

Curious if anyone has seen a similar experiance...and found a solution.
After the Dexter's Mod...(no issues performing the mod)....I was able to get market and all my favorite apps working, even skype.
Unfortunately, the following are not working
- Bluetooth stereo headset......when connecting, it goes into a connection loop and never actually connects.
- Internal microphone doesn't work. Thus, I can't use skype even with a wired headset.
If anyone has seem similar, I would appreciate any inputs. Thanks.

Skype works for you?...
I can't get it to finish logging in.
WAIT... just re-installed Skype and tried and now it works!

I have installed the latest Skype v 1.03 and it did not work for me...I do not have Dexter mod installed...Is there a catch?
Regards

Honestly I don't know. I didn't work for me with the first dexter Mod and initially with the latest one. But I tried yesterday it logged in and worked. Never tried it with stock. You may want to try the latest dexter Mod, really no reason not to. You could always flas back to stock if the need arrised.
The the OP:
I think there are issue with bluetooth still. I was able to pair a Mini BT keyboard I had to type 0000 on the device (paired but not connected) then type 0000 in the keyboard then it would connect. Maybe there is something you need to press on the headset to finish the pairing process. This is just a guess on my part.
The internal mic works fine for me. Have you tried it with another app like sound recorder?

I tried again and again it did not log in...What would be in Dexter mod which would help Skype log in...unless Skype change someting on their side to allow device with ID as nul to get logged in ?!?!

As per RojasTKD's input, I uninstalled skype (also deleting the app cache by the way) and re-installed it. It now works (no video though) whereas previously it just used to get stuck on login.

Do you also have Dexter mod installed or you are using Elocity update? ...and video is not working....but talking and texting works fine?
Regards

Skype currently doesn't support video chat on Android. They are said to fix that at some point, but have not given a time frame.

Yes I am using Dextor's mod - voice and text chatting works. However it seems that the mic gets turned off if I use a regular 3 ring/pin stereo headset. I have not yet tried the stock 4 ring headset that came with the unit.

Installed Dexter mod and Skype now works fine...great...once they add video chat it will be very convinient esspecially when you travel. It would be interesting to find out what in Dexter mod made Skype finally function ?!?
Thanks for the clues, guys...
Regards

I have the dexter mod 1.1 plus adhoc on mine and my insignia ns-bthdp headphones work just fine.

Thanks for input

indeed... Thanks for this input. indeed if I don't use a 3 ring headset... Mic works. plug in a standard headset... Mic disabled.
Haven't tried headset from the box.
Used latestDexter mod.... Installed angle from market....works with no issues other than the funky mic thing and bluetooth.

Actually I recently tried the headset with mic that came with the unit on skype. Works like a charm.

Bluetooth not working (PAN) and Adhoc requires no WEP
Two issues:
1) After the Dexter Mod 1.1, I could not get Bluetooth Network (PAN) to connect to my iPhone (Bluetooth tethering). The Iphone shows Paired/Connected and the A7 shows Paired but not connected. Bluetooth tethering works great on my iPad and my Win7 (64bit) notebook to my iPhone.
2) Wifi Tethering to iPhone using MyWi works with the Adhoc patch to WPA_SUPPLICANT but only if MyWi is configured with no WEP.
Any ideas about a fix for either of the two issues?

Please help / Samsung i830 + A2DP

I've tried SuperDave's i730 fix/hack at pdaphonehome.com, every thing seems to work except there is no way, or option to select "set as wireless stereo".
I get no stereo from bluetooth, WMP still plays sound through the device speakers.
I tried the "zoad2p.cab" from this site (works on Cingular 8125)
Same results.
I've also tried the Tornado a2dp I found here.
It's working on devices with AKU2.6 but I get the same results
as with SuperDave's fix.
One interesting thing...
If you launch WMP and play a song then activate voice siginal, the music
IS sent to the head set briefly.
To keep it active, select settings>about and leave voice signal running.
seems to work like Bluetoothaudiotoggle for about 45-60 sec.
I wonder what is missing from these hacks that we need to make it work.

for some 100-200 ms? Then, you've run into the problem i've described (along with the solution) in one of my recent articles - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=282008

Thanks, but it does not work for this device.
The audio is played only as long as the VoiceSignal application is open.
When I select the bluetooth headphones under listed devices
I get a popup for:
1.Edit
2.Delete
3.Set as hands free.
It's missing {4. Set as Wireless Stereo}
There is no option for "Set as Wireless Stereo"
Could this just be a missing Reg. entry?
(and I believe this is what I'm missing which may be the trouble).
Under Profiles, I have:
1.Hands Free
2.Wireless Stereo
3.Headset
*all have checkboxes.
I've tried every combination I can think of.
Thanks for your HELP, I really appreciate it.
Please move this thread.
Could a Moderator please move this thread over to Development and Hacking.
I think I might get more help there.

I'm interested as well in a solution (sprint i80) but I can't even get the option to check off wireless or headset; the only thing showing up after pairing is handsfree.
any ideas?

Actually, I had read that the bluetooth audio toggle wouldn't work with sd's hack, so I had removed the hack. I just reinstalled it and it sorta works in conjuntion with the toggle; I can play audio over my bt headset, but an incoming call disconnects it and I can't hear my caller. Work in progress.
I currently have the i-tech clip and bluetake i-phono; the clip gives me music but no calls and the bluetake gives me calls and no music......
I also have a pair of the sony hbh something or other, but I'm trying to find them in my house!!!!

SuperDaves' hack for the i730 (I think is based on the Tornado Hack found here on xda) will not Work at all with the i830's bluetooth stack. It seems to be completely different. After you install it and try to use it you will get OS errors if you have error reporting turned on.
AudioToggle.exe seems to work fine, except its mono.
+ (the whole call answer issue)
I've also tried the Wizard hack with the same results.
I really hope we can find a device with the same bluetooth stack/build and figure out what we need to add to enable a2dp.

Microsoft Voice Command 1.6?

Do any of you have MSFT VC 1.6 installed on the Advantage? I know there were many issues with this software app and the TYTN (such as notifications through speaker and being forced to apply a major registry settings tweak). Can someone confirm that using MSFT VC 1.6 works perfectly with the Advantage or if there are similar problems like with the TYTN?
Thanks

I copy that! Work like a charm on my Ameo.
Yup, it all works perfectly on my Ameo, even issuing commands thru bluetooth is working fine, which was a pig to sort out on the Universal.
Can you please tell me how you got your msft 1.6 voice command working? My audio still routes through to the speaker, not the BT headset. Do you have to do anything to get it working?
I went through all the other forums about this, nothing works.
~Sigh~
I installed it - and it all worked, no tweaking required.
Have you set the "Notifications" settings to direct the audio to Bluetooth only?
What about Voice Command 1.5?
Has anyone got 1.5 to work?
When I try, I just get "Voice Command has encountered a problem. Restart Voice command and try again"
I've tried installing it both to Main Memory, and Microdrive. I've tried resetting it both before and after installing.
No joy.
Anyone else have more luck?

Doesn't really work on my Advantage. Works just like it did on the Tytn.
Activating MSVC thru headset works. All audio comes thru speaker phone. Notifications do not go thru headset only thru speakerphone
And yes, I have notifications set to onlu bluetooth..Oh Well

Mine works flawlessly through bt when initiated from the device. However, I am unable to initiate with my Jabra BT8010
I found out that if I uncheck the Password Protected box in MSVC settings' dialogue that it works fine.

Can you activate the BT via the BT headset? I remember trying one long itme ago on a Blue Angel and I had to configure a button on the device to activate it. Does it work there?
Thank you.

Have you changed the mode to phone on you BT8010s? Otherwise it just keeps playing/pausing your music.
Works perfectly on the three x7500's I purchased. ;-)
I've been using the Mocrosoft voice commnd v.1.6 for a few weeks now. I have the US version, which unfortunately have a different dialing rule from ours in Australia. So, you can't use the dial funtion - only the call funtion would work in Australia. For those not familiar, "dial command" is supposed to let you dial a number. whereas "call command" lets you call a contact by name or nick name in your address book. The numbers, to be acceptable and recognised by the dial command must be one of the following formats:
nnn-nnnn
nnn-nnn-nnnn
1-nnn-nnn-nnnn
n-1-1
international dialing with a + or 0 prefix.
I was puzzled as to why I was unable to use the dial command, and to me a while to realise the limitation.
I heard from other forum participant that he has used the UK version, which allow him to dial the australisan numbers.
If you use this product, could you kindly look into the help file under tips for making calls and list all the number formats acceptable to the UK versions please?
Thanks

Is your BlueTooth turned on? Is your car kit paired using the Hands-free profile?
TO CHECK:
In Comm Manager, go to Setting menu and select BlueTooth.
In "Mode" tab, made sure BT is on!
In "Devices" tab,
* If it shows in the list tap on it and see whether Hands Free is enabled.
* If it does not show, tap "Add New Device..." and follow the steps.

Redirect ALL Audio to a BT Headset?

Hi folks,
I have a Cingular 8525 (Hermes 100/TYTN, I believe) running WM5 on the stock ROM from Cingular/AT&T (the recently upgraded one). I am trying to redirect all audio output, no matter what it is, to my Plantronics Model 340 headset. This is a monaural headset, but I don't care, because all I want to do is listen to voice podcasts and audio quality is not an issue.
A few people have told me about the program "BTAudio," but I tried this and it doesn't appear to work on my phone. Running the BTAudioOn program produces a soft hiss in the headset, but other than that you hear nothing through it. BTAudioOff turns off the hiss.
I thought that maybe this would work better with the WIDCOMM stack that you folks have been working on, but I can't find an actual install guide for that or anything saying "hey, this is ready to go and you should use it now."
Help?

Thanks! anyone else have other ideas? I would prefer not to go with trialware as there exist other solutions that work fine on other handsets.
I feel like there's just one little thing I'd have to tweak somewhere to get it to work, if only I knew what it was.
Actually, a couple of things happened here:
1) At first it didn't work.
2) Then I held down the button on my headset, and the Voice Speed Dial application started itself, all the audio was redirected to the headset for about 5 seconds, and then it stopped.
3) Then THIS stopped and wouldn't work anymore. Then when I pressed the "play" button in the Today screen plugin, it started working (for the two-minute trial period). I haven't been able to make it work again since.
I think there is some chance I could make this work if I could disable the Voice Speed Dial application, but I don't know how :-/

Skype with BT-Headset on Universal?

Hello folks!
I know this is a pretty App-specific question, but has anyone managed to get Skype working on the universal with a bluetooth-headset?
Since Skype is not really an "incoming/outgoing phone call" the headset is not activated and I can only get audio through the built-in speaker/mic or a wired headset. (both of which is annoying)
Any ideas on how to trick Skype into using Bluetooth-Handsfree for IO?
Not sure why, but I have been told Skype works with bt-headsets on other devices flawlessly. Is there anything special about the Universal that could apply here?
I already asked this in the official skype-forums, but only got the usual "mobile devices are not officially supported"-answers....
There is a program you can use that will redirect all audio output to BT - I have made Skype and BT work this way. I can't remember what its called so do a search.
The program is "blueMusic"
Thanks for the reply, will try that.
Does this software only redirect output or does it also activate the BT-headset's microphone for recording?
I had luck using Helmi's Widcomm bluetooth stack. Search for it in the Universal forums. It's pretty sweet and treats your handsfree profile device like an Audio gateway.

It should do both, but, not 100% sure about the latter part
do this change and a soft reset so any time you want can tranfer l'audio to your bluetooth headset , il works with skype and any other application.
hklm\software\oem\voicecommand and set the value of "launchapenable" from 1 to 0

Adventures in Bluetooth

Ok, I have the T-Mobile Tab, I have Skype and Google Voice working via 3G and Wifi but here is the issue...
I have tried 4 different wireless bluetooth headsets and they all react the same... They connect and pair with no issues BUT...
When you place a call the other callers voice is routed, as it should be, to the BT headset, however, my voice is not routed through the BT microphone and it uses the Tab's built in mic...
This is pretty unacceptable as you can imagine and pretty much defeats the purpose of a BT headset...
Any ideas, thoughts, or help on how to get the Tab to route voice via the BT headset as opposed to it's built in mic would be MUCH appreciated!!!!
Thanks in advance!
This was kind of discussed in another thread. Current thinking is that they modified the profile to not support a mic on the BT headset.
Until someone creates a patch, update or a custom rom, there probably won't be a solution.
This is the price we pay for getting the new toys right away. Once the dev's start rolling out the mods, I am sure it will be corrected.

Whilst this may be true for US Tabs, FWIW bluetooth headset profiles do not work with Skype on Euro Tabs either.
I've been trying it out this afternoon, and whilst my headset (well, wristset to be totally accurate) works fine for regular cellular calls, when I try to use Skype I only get audio out.
If I check the options for the connected device in the bluetooth settings, I have both Media and Phone profiles checked. If I uncheck Media, I no longer even get audio out with Skype (though regular phone calls still work ok on the headset), which shows that Skype is not using the Phone profile at all.
So, I suggest you look at the options for your bluetooth device to see if it even has the option for Phone. If it does, it seems that the headset profile is still there and it is actually Skype which is not using it.
Regards,
Dave
If you read some of the comments here, it seems that Skype for Android doesn't support bluetooth anyway.
Regards,
Dave
Thanks for the info man. I'll check it out on my Sprint GT.
Wonder if it's possible to put the Samsung Galaxy S BT on the Tab?
It is because the sound of these apps is being routed via the A2DP profile and not Headset provide is you are hearing the sound via the BT headset but the mic used is the Tab's

Since my headset didn't work with Skype at all with the Phone profile awhen I switched of the Media (A2DP) profile, I doubt a non-A2DP headset will help.
The problem is Skype doesn't use the phone profile.

I dont think its limited to skype either. I tried two other programs last night, neither one had working mic.
Sent from my SGH-T849 using XDA App

Why? Still won't work because the problem is with Skype on Android - it does not use the phone BT profile.

No BT Headset Profile in any of the US Galaxy Tabs
The reason that none of can use their Bluetooth headsets with a program like Skype (or better yet, Line2, which I am a beta tester for) is that the Amrican carriers ripped out the ability to use BT Headset profile. Now some headset (such as te Jabra Stone) uses Audio profile, so it will work with the GalaxyTab, but we definitely need someone to break that an hack in a great fix so that we can get Line2, install it on the Tab, then us Bluetooth Headsets to do our communcating. This because the best (and cheapest) phone/data device in the world at that point. Is anyone working on that?
