Telstra Wildfire and Android 2.2 upgrade - Wildfire General

Hi,
I was vacationing in Australia and decided to buy a Wildfire from Telstra. My main reason was the 850/2100 WCDMA. I live in Canada and travel a lot to Europe. I got the phone unlocked but not rooted (I can live with it being unrooted).
I read that most European carriers have released Froyo ROMs. I tried to see if an upgrade was available for mine but I can't seem to find anything.
I suppose that I could be safe and wait for Telstra to release the update (anyone knows when?) or I could root it and put a generic 2.2 rom on it? Would this generic ROM work on my device given that it's 850/2100 and not 900/2100?
Thanks a lot and sorry if I'm a little confused! This is my very first Android device!
PS I don't really care if the Froyo cannot be rooted.

Hello,
I also bought a Telstra Wildfire only about a week ago. I installed SUnAaBh 2.2.1 ROM on there, it works fine. Waiting for Telstra's branded and bloated 2.2 update will DEFINITELY have the new, unrootable HBOOT!
EDIT: Telstra makes these phones Quad-band and ensures worldwide capability, and flashing a custom ROM will not mess with the radio.

I have installed this stock ROM on my wifes Telstra Wildfire:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Buz...5.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe
It works well and is stable and free of bloat that you find on carrriers ROMS.

yup, i'm with telstra running wildpuzzle v.08 rom, kicks arse over what stock froyo is

Anyone in Canada or USA flash 2.2 Foyo?

Has anyone here flashed their i5800 or i5800Ls from Canada/US with Froyo yet?
Everyone who's posting seems to be from Europe.
And what frequencies do you use? 850/1900? or 1700/2100, etc.
Just updated my TELUS (Canadian) i5800L to 2.2 Froyo JP9..
All seems to be working perfectly for now.
Awesome!
Currently using JPB and so far i've only noticed "My Files" force closes on me.. seems ok for the most part

Unlocked San Francisco/Blade

Hey recently got a Blade to mess around with and I got it unlocked so that my Vodafone sim would work in it and was just wondering whether I'll still receive the official froyo update when it arrives or not?
Thanks
P.S. I'm probably going to put CM7 on it anyway, but just wanted to know
Official Froyo update..............?
If they have one planned that is...

Fimware query

Hi guys,
I am considering Buying what of these phones as the idea of a joypad for a mobile is awesome, just got one question:
I'll be buying this imported (as its way cheaper) so more then likely it will have Hong Kong (Asia) firmware on it..is there "stock Rom" for this? i had a HTC desire HD that i managed to get back to worldwide firmware myself (after 2 weeks of research) so I was wondering if the same thing is possible with the Xperia play?
I don't wanna buy one and be stuck on another counties firmware.
any tips/help would be awesome
Thanks guys

You should be able to flash the UK generic firmware on it using flash tool. After that you could root it using Gingerbreak, update it to 2.3.3 and remove the bloat.
All without unlocking your boot loader, too. Unless you just want to, that is.
adb shove iPad2post.apk to /forum/thread
I'm looking moreso towards an aussie firmware, since my mobile provider would be a 3rd party of optus, I dont mind having optus bloatware on there. if theres aussie genric firmware, i would more then happy to have that over a worldwide firmware?

I don't know of an Australian FW, but there could be one. Most go for the UK generic because of being able to root then update to 2.3.3 without losing root. You'll need to unless you plan on installing everything on the SD card.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
im not too fussed about it being unlocked...i jsut want a firmware i can easily upgrade ( offical is what im looking for) that supports OTA updates too. its not really breaking any laws if its still the offical firmware suited for the device...any clue where i should start looking for rom guides and files? best to be prepared for when i get the phone!
I would just go with the uk generic. So far when it has come to updates the uk firmware has been one of the first to get the updates.
If you got an aussie firmware with optus bloatware on you would have to wait till optus ok's the update before you get it (god knows how long that would take?). Alot of people got the update weeks later because they had carrier branded software vs people who just have the generic software.
People from usa have even flashed the uk firmware (to get updates quicker) and there has not been any problems. If your phone is sim free it will not make a difference which software is on it.
Follow the steps here to get the uk generic + root with a locked bootloader. Once you have flashed the uk firmware all your future updates will automatically come from the uk.

[32A Singapore] Can I get 3g signal from T-mobile and which ROM?

Hi all,
I have a 32A Magic bought in Singapore and loaded with Rogers rooted ROM 2.1.1 (baseband 63.18.55.06QU_6.35.16.19) (its a rooted version with superuser only and nothing else, remembered get it from Smoki thread).
I now move to US and tried AT&T but I get no 3G signal only edge? I want to switch to T-mobile but I don't know if I can get 3G signal there? If yes which ROM should I use?
Thanks a lot.

Galaxy SM-A500M 4G does not work with new carrier

Hi all,
I own a SM-A500M phone. The phone has unlocked stock rom (original rom is not modified by carrier) and updated trough OTA to android 5.0.2. I know 4g does work in my phone because I could use it with my prior carrier, but I recently changed to CLARO and with this new provider I don't have 4g acces, only H+ and it is really slow and laggy connection.
I know the following:
1) Sim card is a compatible 4g nano sim
2) The carrier CLARO has 4g coverage where I live
3) The phone is not the problem
4) I have tried all the usual FAQS (APN's, select LTE in config, reboot) with no success.
5) The phone's variant is right (latinoamerican brand), so It can't be due to frequencies or bands problems.
I asked for help in CLARO and told me that this has happened amongst users with unlocked phones (that is, rom not modified with CLARO's bloatware), and the solution is to flash CLARO's rom. But the problem with this solution is that CLARO hasn't released android 5.0.2 update (and I think it will never update) and I really like android 5 and wouldn't want to return to 4.4.
So, is it true? Is there a chance to fix this problem with minor tweaks? What is the problem here?
Since I recently acquired this phone, I would prefer not lossing warranty, so rooting and custom roms might not be an option.
Thanks in advance. Kind regards!
You could try to flash their rom and check if it works. Then you can be 100% sure that hardware/chip/network provider are fine. I have the same phone on since last week, but still did not go to get the chip at a movistar office. Maybe you need to activate the chip and they refuse to do it unless you get their rom. Maybe just getting their rom, and then flashing back the updated stock one or a CM or whatev would be enough.
