Hi rdashora, under settings, Cellular you need to edit and enter the APN for for your service provider. You may need to search online for the correct string.

Exchange worked fine on my end...i must say that this has to be the best exchange capable Os out there. My work emails render as faithfully as they do on my desktop

Thanks, it works

Why have you posted this question in this thread?

Unfortunately, unlike iOS and Android, WP7, like WinMo before it, still does not accept unsigned certificates.
With iOS and Android, you can choose to accept te unsigned cert after viewing a warning. Microsoft still don't allow this.
To get it working you have to setup an email account that works (gmail/hotmail) and email yourself the root certificate for the exchange domain. You can then install on the device from the email. After that, you can now attach to you Exchange server.
It's a bit of a hassle and one that there's really no reason not to support along with the appropriate warnings.

worked data connection
The answer was given,
Enter cellular menu. there, add "APN" option is available. Enter here your own countrymen, the GSM operator information...
I worked very well. but too bad the app to be paid.
I still say android2.3 much better operating system.

Hello:
i have another problem related to exchange the user name name of my account has two word as "name surname". When I tried to configurate my excahnge account I cannot introduce any space on the username field.
Does anybody know any trick to solve the problem?
Any registry key to change where user name is stored? As know the automatic system of WP7 detected my username as the first part of my e-mail address (ex. [email protected] the user name detected is name.surname instead of name surname)
Any trick to force the keyboard to write spaces?
If I do not find a solution I will have to come back to 6.5 as I need my HD2 for work.
thanks in advance for your help.

That is weird, you say ur username has a space in it? I didnt think that was possible??? I would contact ur IT dept on that one.

Yes, my user name has a space in it. but not just mine also all the rest of my organization. Everybody gets the user name as 'name surname'. I already contact IT department and they told me they will not change nothing for security policy.
I have had 5 windows mobile phone, 3 androids and several symbian and I never got any problem, it was always possible to wirte my user name with the space. :-(

Hi, I'm having the same problem now. I was running either BOYPPCs or HD2Os (i can't remember) NODO rom and I could sync with my companies exchange no problems. However I installed the mango beta yesterday and now I have a certificate error, I tried going back to XBMODs nodo rom and it didn't work either. I know all these roms come from the same base, but could there be different certificates floating around?

blackberry setup - Australia (O2 Mini)

Hi, was wondering if anyone can help me setup blackberry on my o2mini..
I have upgraded to the latest ROM which claims to have blackberry function.
But i have no idea how to make it work to start receiving my pop mails..
can anyone help me ><
i am with vodafone if that helps...
Just pop into a Vodafone store and they will help you set it up...you will have to go on a plan (not prepaid)
u sure they can help me set it up?
i remember going in before enquiring about blackberry for O2mini and they said its not suported officially..?
Would the setting up blackberry procedure the same as other ones?
i'll go in and ask them then
thanks
From memory I think you'll have to go onto the $49 data plan to use blackberry since they now charge $1 per 5 mins of GPRS connectivity.
Nearly makes me want to switch back to Telstra..... nearly
yay~~~
now its working~
basically you need to have BB account with your provider (pay service)
and setup account thru their website.
You will need your device's IMEI/PIN number
and POP3 email address + passwords and thats all!!!

I'm wondering whether this is still working for you ... according to this thread, the folks at Blackberry kick you off after a few days if the BB Connect client does not match the ROM's original network ...
PS. i have read alot of discussions on here about getting it to work properly... just to let you all know, if your PIN number for your blackberry client meant for another network.... blackberry themselves will cut of the traffic to your pin number... although this may take a week or so for it to cut off. The network you are with will not know this has happened hense you will get no help from them. This is a LICENSING issue... tech support advisors will not have this within thier network's published information.

Yes its still working for me - with vodafone.
The only thing its not promised to do as a proper BB device is not been able to receive the emails straight away at occassionally.
Also, if you have the USB plugged in the BB email gets disabled automatically untill u unplug it.
I upgraded to the T-Mobile ROM 1.3.
Didnt do the big storage patch as i got lost in the middle of the tutorial and couldnt be bothered... ;p (BUT still have about 20mb original storage)
Also the post about BB checking mismatches probably only applys when ppl install the O2mini 1.3 ROM --> O2miniPro..
Otherwise i cant think of anything that i did more to make it work continueous.
Voda BB unlimited plan is $49 month i think.

Thanks for the info. In any event, work won't allow me to use my O2 for this - not a secure enough device, according to them.
BTW, I did the bigstorage thing ... very straightforward if you follow the 8 steps at the bottom of this page.
well thats too bad ><~
But about the security issue.. i m sure if the hackers really wants to get in your email they will always figure a way..
If you company uses a work server + sercurity + firewalls + whatever then probably YES it will be insecure compare to BB but then you cant use your email unless you at work... guess that the trade off..
With the Vodafone:
What happen is they give you a <[email protected]> which the settings etc links to your BB device - O2mini.
So whatever emails in the inbox there will be on your device.
To setup you have to 'nominate'/add your various pop3 accounts to make it PULL emails from them to the this <[email protected]>.
Hope this clarify some of the ideas the technology uses for you newbies like myself ;p

More seriously, does anyone know of any document that I could provide to our IT people that would convince them that the BB Connect software (running on the O2 mini) will not be a risk for the Blackberry Enterprise Server (and related systems)?

The issue is not really with BB Connect. The issue is that with Blackberry devices, the IT department can force a profile onto the Blackberry device and set up policies that cannot be overriden. Eg, they can set a policy that the device will ask for a password after 5 minutes of inactivity. This however cannot be done with a PDA running BB Connect.
Other examples of policies that they cannot enforce:
- Internet usage (web browsing, ssh'ing etc)
- Installation of software (games, etc)
Have you guys had any luck getting this working with Optus.
I have been trying to get it going for about 3 days now and am about to put it into the to hard basket.
Hi all,
I got it all installed and got my email address and 'the activation" password from my IT department. We use Blackberry Enterprise server.
There is no place for me to enter that information in the settings, any idea?
Thanks,
Eric.

Cingular 8125 WM6 Exchange Server Issues - Can't connect since upgrading from WM5

Hey all,
I have been running the PDAViet 4.0 version of the WM6 rom for our wizards. I must say that so far it seems loads better than most of the roms I have tried on it (and I have tried most of them )
Before, I had no issues with getting push email from my exchange server at work. Now after upgrading to WM6, I can't seem to connect for the life of me. When I connect, I get a "Support code: 0x80072F06" error. Now instead of being a total tool and just asking you smarties to solve my question without any leg work on my part, I researched this error code and it seems to be a certificate error. I have entered my exchange server info the EXACT way as before.
I even exported the certificate from IE, and imported it into my 8125. Same error. I then also downloaded the SSLChainSaver app, extracted the certificates from my exchange server, made it into a .cab file, imported it...nothing.
So, that being said, do you think that this is some sort of a WM6 issue? I would really hate to go back to WM5 at this point.
I saw somewhere that you could disable the OS from checking for a SSL certificate by doing a registry change, but when navigating to HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Activesync/Partners/UID blah blah <-- that last part isn't in there, so I can't insert a value to disable it... Please help!!!!!
The only other issue I have seen at this point with the WM6 rom is that the keyboard is jacked up...my dot characters aren't right at all...however the numbers and letters are fine.
Thank you so much for any help you can provide. I have been lurking on the site since the 8125 came out, and I must say I have learned a great deal from this community. Thanks!

Are you running Exchange 2003 at work? I'm still on 2003 and have never had a problem, whether with WM5 or WM6. I DO, however, ALWAYS configure my AS on the device initially. (If I use the PC I don't get my tasks) ... Plus it's just easier for me.
If the certificate worked with WM5 it'll work with WM6.
Is there an easy way to figure it out without asking anyone? I work for an IT company that runs all of m$'s latest stuff as far as I can tell. I would imagine they are at least 03. It worked just fine all day, and I know lots of people connected right now with WM5. It just seems to be picky with WM6 for some reason.
I am also running Vista on my work machine. There is no activesync. Now it is win mobile device center, and it doesn't feel the same at all. I haven't gotten it to sync with my phone on bluetooth yet. You can't specify com ports in the tool at all, just bluetooth. Oh well, keep reading I guess
It was the ROM...
I switched to the Underground Rom and everything seems to be working fine now. I wouldn't advise anyone with an 8125 to use the PDAViet 4.0 rom, this one, however, works great.
SSL
You are right. I Disabled SSL and Direct push worked for me
You're lucky! I couldn't even get it to work by doing that...

Android: Can't log in marketplace etc.

Hi guys,
I have unlocked my phone and am able to run Android 1.1 from Bootkit 0503 found on this forum. While it runs great with minor issues one thing annoys me a lot.
I cannot log into Marketplace, Calendar, sync contacts etc. because the gmail login prompt always fails. It says there something in the sort of: There's something wrong with your SIM card or connection.
I have the browser working when I enter the APN in defaults.txt in Haret. I have to connect through the modem application in Android first. I have never succeeded to amke the "Togga" application connect to anything. I tried entering the APN in Android itself too, but this doesn't seem to have an effect.
It is really annoying to have working GPRS in Android (I can browser on the web), but the Calendar applications etc. refuse to acknowledge it.
My provider is Telmore in Denmark.
How do you guys make it work?

Sorry I havn't checked back until now.
The problem got obsolete after I bought the HTC Magic where "it just works".
Thanks for responding though.

HTC Magic with Rogers ROM - Activesync not working?

Hi,
I flashed RogerMagicV2a-signed onto my Vodafone HTC Magic and everything works like a charm. The device seems much faster to me now and I love the keyboard.
But I have problems getting Activesync to work. If I enter my account details including the correct server name (SSL checked) it alwas complains about wrong authentication (Authentication failed). I also checked with "Touchdown" which successfully showed my inbox using the same credentials.
Does anyone know about problems with Rogers Activesync implementation?
Server is Exchange 2007 (I assume).
Thanks in advance!
ff
*bump*
Does anyone have an idea?
First: *PLEASE* don't bump (and more important: don't bump so soon)... if someone knows the reply be sure it will be posted.
Second: As far as i know (maybe i'm wrong) there is no software named ActiveSync, are you talking about HTC Sync? If TouchDown works meybe it's a software problem so meybe you will obtain more help from the software authors .
Cheers
Ok, sorry for that! I am so impatient because everything else works great and the ActiveSync support would be the last thing to make the Rogers Rom perfect!
With ActiveSync I mean the integrated support of the Rogers Rom to sync with a Microsoft Exchange Server over the air which would be great because then I could finally sync my work calendar and contacts with my HTC Magic.
Perhaps something is broken in the Rogers Rom regarding the ActiveSync client - that is my question here.
Thanks in advance and sorry again for bumping. Won't happen again
I read somewhere that the Rogers ROM's Active Sync does not support PIN security settings forced by the exchange server. This would be bad.
Search for that topic, I'm not sure if it was here at xda-devs.
Cheers,
Hotas
Yes I also read this but our Exchange Server does not have PIN security enabled. I tried another app (I think it was Roadsync or Touchdown) and it worked there.
But I would like to have my calender and contact entries integrated into the apps, not in a separate app like Roadsync does it.
Any other ideas?
Thanks and greetings from Germany

Have you played with the Hero rom? I'm sure I saw some exchange mail options in there.
No not yet, perhaps I'll give that a try.
It's a pity, I really like the Rogers Rom...
Thanks.
ActiveSync Issues
Hi,
I now tested
- Moxier Mail (http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.moxier.mail)
- Exchange by Touchdown (http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.nitrodesk.nitroid)
and they both work.
Here is a part from Touchdown's log:
Version : 3.1.000

ActiveSync Server::sync.company.tld

Max Days:3
Options:333
Poll:60
ISA Flags:destination=Z2F&flags=0

------------------------------
Does anybody have an idea why Touchdown and Moxier Mail work but the integrated ActiveSync solution from HTC does not?
edit://
Of course I used the same credentials and server settings.
Help appreciated!
Thanks
ff
That is corrent....the implementation on the HTC Rogers ROM for Activesync does not appear to support basic security (ie. PIN setting) that is by default on the Exchange Mobile settings.
I requested our IT dept. put me as an exception and it works fine. This will be an issue for any corporate users. Touchdown and Moxier both support PIN security, so you won't run into problems there, but it is VERY annoying.

To get it correct: I do not have to enter a "pin", I just log on using my normal Windows credentials, i.e. domain\username and password. This should work, right?
Or does "pin" mean the basic authentication using HTTP-Auth with my windows credentials?
Thanks!
PIN means the forced security policy, sent from the Exchange server to enable Remote Wipe for instance. On a Windows Mobile phone you need to enable the phone security key, which you have to enter after a defined time of no use or at power-on. The policy has to be managed by the phone in a way the Exchange server accepts, otherwise you are not able to sync.
Maybe that's your problem. Anyway I don't know, how TouchDown or RoadSync handle the security policy.
Schahn
Ok,
I think this is the problem.
To sum it up: HTC's integrated ActiveSync client does not support PIN security settings that are enforced from the Microsoft Exchange server. I also tried to set up device locking where you have to draw a line on the display - but this also did not work.
Is there a way for you developers or the guys at HTC to fix the ActiveSync client that it pretends to have PIN security settings enabled? Touchdown seems to do the same here because it works like a charm.
It would be great if some of you would find a solution for this!
Thanks for the great support here.

I'm looking for exactly that. I have Hero installed on my Magic an I can get touchdown to work - sort of. It gives me a new inbox every time I sync and then I have to refresh the folders to get rid of the "fake" inboxes and get to my mails.
It works... badly, but still...
I'm also looking for an app that'll integrate into the phone.
Any new rumors, solutions or suggestions?

Same problem here, the Rogers ActiveSync on my Magic won't work with my work Exchange server. However, TouchDown works. I heard that the Rogers ActiveSync requires Exchange web services or something like that, whereas TouchDown has real Exchange 2007 support. It seems like my corporate server only supports real Exchange 2007 synchronization :S
Has anyone found a workaround for this? I've thought about paying for an app like TouchDown, but it sucks if the Calendar isn't integrated with the phone's calendar.

exchange - security certificates

Hi,
i hope somebody can help me with my activesync error 0x80072F06; it says that the server security certificates are invalid, which i can't understand at all: I have my touch2 connected to my microsoft exchange server 2010 and imported my servers security certificate (which i first exported on my desktop using internet explorer). At first i tried to sync the phone at home by wifi and entered my servers local IP -> worked exactly as i should.
But as soon as i enter my external ip my certificate it doesnt work anymore and gives me the above error...
But i don't understand why i can successfully sync the phone the first time after i entered the settings and also the first time every day when the exchange server/the phone try to connect (some minutes after midnight) it works, but why not always?
I hope i could give you enough information to help me solve my problem.
saw45
I've always been able to sync without a security certificate...I don't know if this is related at all, but you can try this: http://www.mobilitydigest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=259&highlight=exchange+security
Thanks a lot, would be really great, but sadly it doesn't work under windows mobile 6.5... i tried to install the version for windows mobile 6.1 professional but it always gives me an error (unexpected error in stay config.exe) when i try to save the settings... (although i installed the 2.0 version)
is there any other way (maybe a registry setting) to disable the certificates?
thank you for your help,
saw45
can you try changing the connection speed?
mine is in dutch, but it must be something like:
settings-->connections-->USB to PC-->uncheck the option for a faster connection.
Hi,
i'm not connecting to a local pc over usb so i don't think i can change the connection speed as i'm connecting to an exchange server over umts/hsdpa/3g or wifi... I hope that was what you ment?
Thanks for your help!
saw45
Hey Saw,
Did you import the certificate with an .P7B extention? I also tried the DER encoded binary and the Base-64 encoded (both .CER). But the Cryptographic message syntax standard was the one that worked for me.

Hi,
which way did you export your certificate/ which program did you use?
Thank you for your help, i hope this is going to solve the problem! But if its not, nobody has an idea how to turn off windows mobile asking for valid certificates?
saw45
ok i imported now the certificate in cryptographic message syntax standard (.p7b) but it didn't change anything
I really don't know what to do... ironically the perfect exchange integration was one of the points why i decided to buy a windows mobile based phone
i don't really understand why it works at 00:01 and then the phone decides that the certificate isn't valid?? When i start the phone at 2 pm the first time (that day) it also works!? But after the first sync no matter what i do it won't work again!
I really hope somebody can help me!
