see....this is a very common asked question,
if you root your phone by propc method Link, it will give you a gingerbread theme.
but if you root your phone directly, then you will have same appearance, only there will be a Super User Permission app.
and you asked about gingerbread ROM, you wont get it now.
bcoz there is no custom ROM for it. developers are working hard to get it. so you need to wait for some time.
rooting is absolutely safe if you follow each step carefully.
i will recommend you to use this guide. Link
hope you succeed!

Anyway to reverse the CyanMod i did to my Mytouch3g?

Is there anyway to return the phone back to stock condition.
Don't know why you'd ever want to???
Here is a tutorial. This website has all kinds of easy tutorials for android phones. Search around.
http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/22/how-to-unroot-your-mytouch-3g/
thanks alot .........i was unsure of what to search for
Good Noob site.
I've done most all the tutorials on that site and been pretty successful in rooting and unrooting. Use his One Click Root Procedure and use the recovery he has there it's a lot better than the old ones. He has a really good download section on there for any ROM's you might want and themes. I use Cyanogen's ROM it's really fast and doesn't make your screen all blurry or anything. I was pretty nervous about rooting my phone at first, but if you can install an operating system on a computer you definitely won't have any problems rooting your phone and installing a new ROM. I've flashed and flashed and unrooted and installed themes and haven't bricked my phone yet. I'm not a programmer or a genius by any means and I didn't break my phone yet.

[Q] Quick Questions

So i recently rooted my MT4G and all and that really killed my brain haha. And i wasnt sure if i wanted to keep it rooted. So i read one of the post how to unroot. I was quite confused. Its pretty much like the same process as to root it. Now i watch a video on youtube where a guy used a program to root it and unroot it was With a special program or something and i was curious to know if anyone was working on something like that or knows of something like that in the future.
Even though its a different HTC phone. I was just wondering if some day it will be that easy to root and unroot.
I cant post a link yet because this is my first post. but go to youtube.com> seach How to unroot your mytouch 4g. And one came up as How to Root and Unroot your Samsung vibrant. 2.24
There are guides on how to root and unroot in the android development section. I can't imagine why you would want to unroot? it doesn't hurt anything and even if you never install a custom rom it is still good to have to backup your current rom and apps with ROM Manager and titanium.
Although the process is not a one click solution it is almost. temp root with visionary r14. Copy one file and run it from the terminal app on the phone then use visionary r14 to permroot with one click
Please post questions in Q&A Section.
Well it did hurt the wifi. Cause i keep getting Error. And when i looked at the solution patch to fix it. i went what the ****?!?!?! im more of the visual learner. If there are videos on how to root/unroot or whatever it would make my life alot easier.
To unroot its the same process as to rooting just put the unroot folder in?

You have access to alter any system files, use themes, change boot images, delete annoying stock apps, that might drive you crazy. I don't think there is a sticky on just what to do with root. A good place to start is here

It has things to do with root.
Hope this gives you some help

[Q] Firmware Update ?

So, I'd like to upgrade my HTC Wildfires firmware to the latest one (not sure whether its 2.2 or 2.3 atm) and I'd like to do it via PC, connected with USB cable... How do I do it, what should I download, etc... I'm a complete newbie when it comes to stuff like this so any kind of guidance would be highly appreciated.
connect to wifi and ask yourself if you are sure you do not want to root or flash a custom rom. if the anser is no go to menu > settings > about phone > software updates > check now then follow the on screen prompts
IF YOU DO THIS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ROOT
WHEN THE UPDATE IS INSTALLING DONT DO ANYTHING STUPID (E.G. REMOVE THE BATTERY. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR DEVICE
As the previous post said: IF YOU DO THIS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ROOT YOUR PHONE.
Unless you know why you want to 'upgrade' via this route I would highly recommend not doing it.
There are already Froyo (2.2) and Gingerbread (2.3) ROMs available in the forums immediately that can only be installed on a rooted device. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO THIS IF YOU UPGRADE THE WAY YOU ARE SUGGESTING, IE. THERE IS NO GOING BACK IF YOU UPGRADE THE WAY YOU ARE SUGGESTING. YOU WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO ROOT YOUR PHONE.
Apologies for the shouting but you really should understand what you will be missing out on if you can't root your phone.

[Q] Droid X2: want to remove adds w/o rooting.

Droid X2 2.3.4 unrooted (for the moment). Can I remove adds? Addfree is for rooted only, and I cant make my HOST FILE r/w because of noot root access. But there MUST be a way to get rid of all that junk...
Thanks in advance folks!
Incorrect.
I suppose you could root...apply adfree...unroot.
Only problem being that you couldn't update the host file again.
Also, why not root?
It's as easy as one-click to undo it...
And once you realize the MINIMAL potential that simply rooting gets you...maybe you'll wanna' break into custom roms!
They really make your phone YOUR phone.
And you can always go back to stock again from there as well...which will take about an hour. Seriously.

Please note that anything Droid X2 related should be posted in the correct forums. The Droid X2 has it's own subforums.
To answer your question though, there really isn't a way to block ads without rooting. Just not possible. Why not root your device and install a custom rom? It may seem over your head right now, but I guaruntee you'll love how speedy your phone will be. We have plenty of guides and tutorials over at our section, that will assist newbs like you in getting started.
