160,000 views - Only one ROM developer - Streak 5 General

Well, the Streak forums are about to hit 160k...but still we've only got one ROM developer (Although he and the others involved are doing a fantastic job!).
So what's wrong with the streak that nobody wants to develop for it?
Surely with the thousands of people who visit the section there must be at least two or three of them that have the necessary skills to have a go?
Do we have B.O. and nobody has told us?

Hey! Good point
I was surprised to see such limited ROM development too - especially as I came over to Android from Windows Mobile.
There are ROMs still being developed for my almost-ancient Touch Pro - I had to go back to it as backup phone as my Dell is taken for screen repair.
I have a feeling it is harder for the Android platform?
I spent most of my time flashing WM roms because, although they may have good designs by Chef's etc, the core platform was a waste of time so not possible to improve the user experience by much - but we did search and search!
Going back to Touch Pro now seems soooo sluggish and boring!
Anyway, goodnight.

i was thinking about this earlier too. but android phones typically have less roms. and what other roms would you want?

x2. Is Steve part of Cyan's team? His name is listed under CyanogenMod wiki as the lead dev for the streak.
Maybe we can put up a donation thread to get some devs in line and help get them their own streak to work with. That's how we did it on the Vibrant forums to get devs involved. If you look at that forum now, they got a ton of dev support and Samsung isn't particularly a CM favorite to work with. I'm guessing it's the same with Dell.

I guess its because the streak isn't as popular as other devices. I'm pretty tech savvy and have been reading up a lot on rom cooking (more like file pulling/pushing/swapping) for android but there is no one concise source, I've ben mixing and matching info from various posts, blogs, and forums. So hopefully pretty soon I'll be reaching the ranks of dj_steve

This is the first GSM phone I've owned where I had only ONE custom ROM option outside of the Stock ROM. Even some of the less popular phones on this site have more ROMs and developers.
As much as I love DJ Steve for what he's done and is still doing, I would like more options. I just hope Steve doesn't get tired of all the begging and whining from folks.

I have bought this exact same topic up before
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847773
I have always been a WinMo guy myself, and my last phone, the HD2, had about 30 ROMs going for it.
It was brilliant, every one was different, some had little nuances others had their own. I love it when its like that.
But then I came to the Streak, with only one Chef! It seems a little strange to me, but I will just have to deal with it.
I prefer to have a big choice in ROMs. I wonder if the WP7 scene will become like the WM6.5.x scene in the future?

Doubtful since win7 isn't as open as Android is. Speaking of the HD2, did you notice how much Android Roms are available for that device? I lost count LOL.

I've been on 2 previous Android devices before the Streak. The G1 and the Legend. The had loads of roms. Cyan's one of them. I didnt do much modding on the Legend though. At least, not that I remember. Hope atleast a couple of devs get interested with the Streak.

I think if there's a free kitchen for cooking the ROMs, it might help with getting people involved.

Yeah, and there are about 100k posts stating that users have tried this and tried that and now their Streak doesn't work properly
More 'developers' would just increase that exponentially and the forum would soon be full of wingy baby winers blaiming their device for not working correctly

There were lots of roms for the htc tilt and moto droid those were my last two phones but most of them were buggy and made me want to put my stock rom back on with root priveledges. This rom for dell streak I have to say is the best experience ive had with a custom rom so far. Im on steves android 2.2 on att white streak. Although I love the rom and im glad it was easy to decide which one to put on my phone since theres only one, that does seem very strange there is only one. Actually information on the sreak in general has been very hard for me to come by. None of my friends or family even heard of the dell streak and even the people at att were trippin on it. It took me days of googling to figure out how to root this damn white one from best buy cause theres no damn info on it. I dont know why, its by far the best phone ive ever laid my hands on and everyone elses phone looks like a joke in comparison. Its funny wen people with the hd or evo or droid x think they have a big screen and u pull out a five incher a hahaha lol.

The race is on. Samsung vs. Developers.

Our development team who has been assigned to the vibrant seem to have stalled out on interest in porting CM over to our beloved vibrant. I wonder if Samsung will actually release 2.2 before the developers.
Just curious if anyone knows why its moving along so slowly.
I was really hoping to see more fanfare over the vibrant being such a fabulous piece of hardware.
And with that being said.... those who live to rip someone to shreds for talking such blasphemy.... lemme have it.

If you offer to bankroll their efforts, they might be able to allocate more of their time to Vibrant development.
It's moving slowly since the Cyan devs are still working on the MT3GS. All the supplies (I think) are in place since Wes (The Cyan developer for this phone) got a phone to work on.

I am just being patient and know that it will be all worth it when it does eventually gets ported over.

Samsung said "End of September" which really mean "at the earliest." I have little doubt the CM6 team will have a ROM out long before then.

^^ this is correct, once the slide is done we should see some progress :]
in all honesty, if i was them i would wait. Do all the prep work that is necessary and just wait for Samsung to release the 2.2 source to mod from, it would make it that much easier and more compatible.
I say that fully expecting Samsung not to change anything and that means leaving root/clockwork being super easy to implement. Now should that change, then the prep work is done, just have to get cooking
Wes is a fabulous dev. (kicked him some funds back in the G1 dev days.
I think he should toss that slide to the. Curb and work on a real phone.

Plus one on this. The phones got awesome specs to work with. I wish I knew how..lol but ill still try and be patient ...
I could have sworn the evo had roms after a month.. were no where near close to that time frame....
I still don't think Wes should of called that if he got extra donation money for his "laptop" he would purchase a Vibrant and dev for it if he wasn't going to be doing it right away. Since that did kind of help people who has a Vibrant donate for his laptop. I'm glad that there are other talents out there coming into the Vibrant community though.
Saw bbuchacher, justanotherdev, eugene coming along. Hopefully everything will fall into pieces in the upcoming month. And yeah I don't even think myTouch Slide is even popular at all, so iono. Not trying to be impatient or "cry" about it but just speaking justification point of view. Just my 2 cents.
I think most of you guys need to just chill out. Im no where close to being a dev and almost every mod I did on my G1 i've flashed, if you're in the same boat, then definitely need to stop questioning developemnt. If you read closer, or really followed the updates from the other threads, devs and twitter updates you'd see that there is more going on.
Now I can be completely wrong with this, but here is what im getting out of what the current status of Vibrant development is:
-The MTS is currently "first in line" to be caught up to CM6
-The MTS was/is having problems running CM6 being "stable", even with the phone still being manufactured by HTC and Cyanogen working along with side with the devs assigned to it
-Eugene, JAC and others have started to breakdown and develop the Vibrant
-JAC has been asked to merge his work to Github....
Make your conclusions... Donate... Start deving... Shut up... Remember no dev owes you anything.
EDIT: Donation- an act or instance of presenting something as a gift, grant, or contribution... usually not tied to any personal gain.
I keep seeing the "Don't worry when CM6 hits it will be amazing. Don't worry when CM6 comes it will fix the problem."
HTC and Samsung are very different animals. Devs have come and gone as well.
Motorola
HTC
Samsung
You tell me why its going to take so long or be a bit slower? It takes time and there simply has to be a lot of interest from the dev and the users.
I'm just kicking back watching and hoping for the best.

Took me over 2 months for Dell to build a laptop actually, I'm never buying from Dell again.
Still saying, there was a forum thread on the Development forum saying to donate to Wes to get the Vibrant and all that. Kind of a deceiving, im not impatient whatsoever.
Wes still has access to a computer, I believe and is coding for the Slide so it's not like he doesn't have a computer.
I understand that it would look bad on his part if he bailed on the Slide like that. There could of been better outcomes if a developer who was primarily dedicated to porting CM6 to the Vibrant from the very beginning rather than as a secondary objective.
wesgarner and Scepterr are the developers assigned to the Samsung Galaxy S.
I just donated $25. Donate and lets get this phone off the ground.
Thanks for the donations Wes has his Vibrant coming and soon his laptop. Great Job!!

There are a few already in the development forum. Not sure if any of them are "Teamdouche" but none the less they are devs. JAC already said "I'll be moving my stuff to Github upon request" and "As long as I'm credited for my work you can use it."
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!
what a bunch of cry babies don't worry the Vibrant's turn will come, its definitely a good platform worth doing **** to, a few little things here and there are messed up with the phone but its nothing that hasn't already been addressed.
just be patient, you have to remember that its not like it used to be. Its not just the G1 anymore its a **** load of Android phones with their own issues and with a bunch of cry baby owners just like you lol
the day XDA goes away is the day all of you guys will pull all your hair out. the phones been out for a couple weeks and to be honest i dont think the Galaxy S line sold as well as a lot of other high end devices (EVO,Droid X) so of course devs are gonna go where the masses are.
You think we have it bad? go look at the Captivate section of XDA, they dont have ****, no cases, no roms and out of the Galaxy S line we actually have a decent amount of little morphs and fixes to get us by for now. Be patient dont give up
if you built it they will come
we'l c wut happens lol
I am by no means complaining and am not at all a developer. just a happy android user and rom flasher I just came from MT3G.
I know the Vibrant is new, but with a Galaxy being released on all 4 major carriers, I am honestly surprised a bunch of developers have not jumped all over the Vibrant and Captivate that are out with the 2 others expected soon...I mean this is basically the first time that I know of that virtually the same phone is being released on all 4 US carriers! it seems like a developers dream. are the US galaxy's just still too new?
Going along with that, when Dev start making Roms for US Galaxys, will basically all the same Roms easily run on all 4 US Galaxy variants? basically will they just need some very minor tweaking bc the same hardware? (except for qwerty version)? or will there have to be major modding with the same rom between the different US variants? (if very little tweaking is needed, that is why it seems to me that the US galaxy S versions would be so appealing to dev's)
Lastly, even though ive not rooted mine yet, (mt3g was rooted for the past year), I am looking forward to CM6 like everyone else. But it seems thats mostly what I have seen talked about is CM6. no doubt that the CM team are at the top of the game, but what about developers bringing other Roms too, for example Sense? I am just wondering why most seem to just talk about wanting CM6 when there are tons of other developers and other Roms (coming from my experience with g1/mt3g)?
I know this was a long post, but these topics have been on my mind lately. what do you guys think to any of my thoughts/questions posted above?
The phones haven't even been out a month, give it time. They're drastically different from the HTC setup that most devs are used to, so there is a steep learning curve that needs to be tackled. Also the devs have more then one phone on their plate. They should focus on what they started first before taking on another project, so I expect them to get the slide where it needs to be before starting on the galaxy s.

Guys, we have a custom kernel. That was a huge step. There is significant progress here. JACs kernel is on rev2. We have other good devs outside of the main CM team looking at things as well. Give them some time, this is a whole new way of doing things, they are having to learn how Samsung does stuff. I honestly think we will see a custom AOSP 2.2 before Samsung releases their custom one.

Anyone Feel Like the Desire Z/G2 Lacks Development....

in certain areas? Things like roms and overclocking kernels our developers are on top of, no question about it
From time to time, I wonder into the other android device's development sections of xda and think what if we had those developments. Take for example the Nexus S, they have a sound patch that improves the sound quality and ext4 optimizations to increase performance in Gingerbread. In the Desire HD development section they have a performance enhanced kernel for CM7. Just a few examples of such developments I see in other sections, that gets me thinking.
Dont get me wrong I appreciate all the hard work and effort that our current developers go through to provide us "normal" users with kernels and roms for our devices. I wish I had the time and knowledge of the Android system to get into development, to help out.
Just sharing my thoughts and would like to hear others opinion on this, not criticizing or trying to create a issue.
I believe that there is in fact a huge rom development out there. I can see why your frustrated with certain things not being there, but you have to remember how hard it was to crack root on this phone, therefore it is harder to do certain things to it. Where as the galaxy s series is easy as pie to root and hack, along with the evo and older phones. Just mosey on other phone forums and notice the lack of development that they have. There are other great phones, like the evo shift 4G and others that aren't getting love like this phone.

haha try working with something with a weak following, like a Samsung Transform. All I really see is guys complaining there's no XDA sub-board. There's an SDK but it all sucks especially because I'm used to how wonderful my G2's support is.
There's a decent following for the Vibrant, but zero cyanogen for it, and I doubt there ever will be. I do like my Axura rom, but it makes me sad I can't cyanogen it. Which makes me appreciate cyanogen even more though, because I see that it has sooooo much more than other roms.

I was trying to find the XDA forum for the Moto Cliq for my sister, and realized on doesn't even exist, lol. But I do miss the Vibrant forums a little bit. When I had my Vibrant I ran Nero/Bionix and it was the tits. I am new to CM but having Gingerbread gives me wood, so I'm as happy as a pig in poop with my G2.

Yep, I tried to help a friend with a Cliq and found that too. He was sooo excited for his 2.1 OTA that was super late from the initial promise date that he was expecting. And I found just about zero following for that thing.
I ran bionix for a bit, and I think overall I prefer the Axura over it, except the newest one doesn't have HD Camcorder as of now

I love development and the Android community. So much choices to satisfy anyone's flavor. Here in the G2/Desire Z forums, I believe there is plenty of development. QUALITY development.
In the G1 forums, when it was still really popular, you would just see the forums flooded with all different kinds of ROMs, from several devs. I tried out tons of them, but none of them, except a handful were well made (Cyanogen, JAC, Haykuro, to name a few). Pretty much all the half assed ones were all basic copies of all the other ones, or rip offs of the good ones. In addition there were only two types: stock and sense.
With our forums, we have so many possibilities. Stock, modified stock, froyo, gingerbread, sense, miui. Our hardware can actually support all this too and run well, unlike on other devices.
It doesn't end at roms. We have kernels, modifications, hacks. Anything to make your phone unique. And may I say, our processor is an overclocking champion. I can load up the 1.8 Ghz kernel and run it all day every day, stable. Now, I don't do it, but it's nice to have the option.
In addition to all of this, our phone is still relatively current. Next gen snapdragon processor, nearly 2 gigs of accessible rom, 512 megs of ram, decent screen, stock froyo. I don't see why the G2 wouldn't receive a 2.3 OTA.
As time progresses, I can see more and more devs pop up to try and take the reigns of development for this forum. It's a matter of when, not if.

I don't really feel that way at all. There are the roms that most consider relevant, the sense roms (which has been consolidated into virtuous) and the cyanogenmod team that is so large now that most of the top developers have teamed up. Sure the number of roms are down but the quality is top notch
Sent from my HTC Vision
I agree to a certain point. If it wasn't for the Devs then this phone wouldn't see anything. There is barely any support from the manufacturers (ie. docks, car docks). They released the G2/Dezire Z then the Nexus S comes out and it's a forgotten phone from their standpoint.

Yeah, modmymoto was the best site around for Moto modding. Good to see an original Moto modder here. I also modded Motorolas, I modded two RAZR V3's . I loved the fact that you could seriouly mod EVERY LITTLE thing; from small stuff like removing the anoying buzz noise when the phone is near a speaker through a seem edit to stuff like changing the housing to all gold, I saw this one guy put a see-through housing on his RAZR V3 wand made his keypad gold and all the sound up and down buttons down or some other bits of gold parts in it. I loved modding Moto's, I remember that I had an iPhone theme with an iPhone icon pack and an iPhone font, I always used the Mulifex way of flashing, I liked that way the most. I loved the fact that I could change my service provider to 'Beast-Mobile' and change the names of the items in the menu, like for example I had my phone book says "my name's Homies" like "KoolKidsKlub's Homies" I wish that I could change stuff like that on an Android phone.
I've modded stuff like this for as long as I can remember XDA rules, lol. I once bricked a Moto Rokr E8, but I think that's about the only thing I've genuinely bricked haha. I always tell people it usually takes talent to brick an android. I just scored a Vibrant because it was "bricked" and I resurrected it.
[email protected] the post that if this phone didn't have Dev's, it wouldn't see anything at all. I haven't seen any docks for it, yet there are dock settings. Yet the phone I do have a dock for has no dock settings

Time to let go????

I have had my slide for a very long time now. I feel like development is coming to a crawl. CM7 will never have flash integration even though we keep getting upgraded versions of android. The CM7 forum is floaded with issues the last time I peeked. Gotta love those guys for giving us hope and their time. The Alpharev 2 looks super promising kinda wish chiefreloadz and other dev's would take a peek at it to give us life. I am at a point where getting a new phone is inevitable. Wish I could setup a poll via my slide to see how many people feel the same way. How many of you feel the same or disagree with me.

I feel the same way too. The slide really is a powerful device. I'm really upset it died so quickly.
Yeaaa and I'm especially dissapointed w/ the lack of custom kernels. I see so many devices w/ a wide variety of custom kernels (new and old phones), but this one only has 2 (dumfuq and miguel). I root other peoples phones and do overclocking and such, and I c all these kernels to choose from, while this device only has 2 kernels, even lower end devices have more kernels than this..
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using Tapatalk
The slow of progress in the Slide has driven me to new levels in the android world. I have made many sad attempts at creating my own Roms from source...as well as several successful attempts at modifying a ROM to fit my needs...as well as creating batch files to do most of the the work for me when it comes to nightlies, but nothing original. I am sad to to see this phone in the state it is since this is the second phone I've had of the android family. (I've hacked many others for the purpose of profit) I still use and maintain several G1s...which re-enforces my dismay over the staleness of this device. My next buy is a G2x (LG Optimus 2x). I could wait for the 3D line in the next year but my boredom has eclipsed my interest 10 fold. I plan on passing this phone on to my wife when she gets home from active duty in South Korea. So all is not lost. I know this doesn't even belong in this sub-topic of the forum but I thought it worth sharing my opinion on.
Well in my attempt of waiting for several things to happen I just went online and pre-ordered my WIFI Motorola Xoom. I am very excited hoping this will not have me thinking about my slide that often awaiting the next best thing. I also have a Nokia Maemo phone which the firmware will be updated to Meego by the end of April so its a matter of waiting I guess. Well hopefully this thread will bring things back to life if not then I would like to say goodbye to my slide by the end of the year and get myself a new phone with more power yada yada. lol. Anways...
can someone send me miguel's kernel?
or tell me where I can find it?
i can't get my hands on it...
As for the HTC Slide. I just upgraded from my Motorola Cliq a few weeks ago.
It's definitely a big hardware boost, but the dev support is certainly less.

As for the slide I still have mine and it's running strong. It's a nice little phone and I don't think support for it will fade entirely for a while, there's just not much else that needs to be done to improve it thanks to cyanogen.

I actually posted a comment similar to this thread in the Gingersense thread. But yes I feel as if upgrading handsets will be the only way to get that "new phone" feeling I had got when first flashing cm6 and cm7 .
Edit: also this phone has yet to reach a year in age.(june or July)
And as far as flashplayer, its not the roms that don't support it but the UI. Sense UI was flash lite compatible but only armv7 processors are full flash capable.

Im sure most know, but maybe not the original poster, that this is not the place for this. Yes, you are talking about devs and roms and what-not, but this has nothing to add to the development community.
Yes, the slide does lack devs unfortunately. It is very sad that many devs did not take an interest in this device early on and those that did lost interest. I personally dont get it since i love this device. But the last thing to do is to complain about all that and just leave it at that. One of you said you tried to tinker with roms. Great! Thats what we need. We need people to get off their asses and take initiative. Lack of devs led me to attempt the port gingersense. I do not call myself a dev since i know 0 code and simply just know a few tricks, but at least i try. I would like to see more people start tinkering. If you love your slide, keep it alive. If you think you dont have the time, thats on you. I personally have a full time carreer which has crazy hours and a nearly full term pregnant wife (which means i have to do nearly everything around the house).
If you read this all, thx, i hope this sticks with someone.
Oh yeah, and admin plz move to appropriate section XD

I agree with most of what's been said. There really isn't much else we can do with the slide. With everything that's available to us, we have it, and that's about it. Since no one likes the mid-range of the slide and they all want the high-end awesomeness of the newer phones, the slide has few people to share their roms and themes.
I've had my slide since the very start of the slide era, and it is great with CM7 it does everything you want from a daily phone. I feel like I want something more tho, everything seems outdated with all of the new software and apps out there, we can't use them because of the slides hardware. Sad that's it's only been a year since it came out and it's outdated..tho I suppose launching the Galaxy S right after the slide launch just made it seem outdated weeks after.
As soon as I'm available for an upgrade in April I will be switching to a new phone; which I think most of us, who just want something more, are doing.
I got my slide on June 4th 2010, the day it was available for customers. I have loved my slide since. I learned soooo much about the Android OS and its capabilities since owning my Slide. I absolutely love it and want to hang onto it for as long as possible. It does everything I need it to do and it does it fast. Doesn't Cyanogens wife have a slide? I would think he would continue devving for it until his wife switches phones. Just a thought
It is endlessly amusing to me that someone would rather buy a phone out right simply because development has stopped....
You know the point was for YOU to get involved... right?
Listen I agree this is probably not the place for this but its a great place to voice my opinion to dev's which there is a huge shortage for this phone (this is my sole opinion). I have learned a ton from my slide. My first android phone was a maemo phone with a rigged android version on it. That made me want to get the slide because of android. I apologize if I offended people but just voicing my opinion on a topic that has been an ongoing discussion for many of us slide users.

Such little development on the slide?

Can anyone tell my why the mytouch slide development scene is so dead? Everytime I check there is only about 14 people view where as the ancient G1 has over 130 people every time. Filled with no roms that should even be possible on the g1. I even notice this in the droid forums as well but the slide is much faster than the droid yet they have a huge dev scene with a lot of AOSP development going on and they even have the popular miui rom. Anyone care to shed some light on this and give your thoughts?

We dead scares for almost 4 months last year. There might be an answer in one of those 3 threads.
I'm thinking a lot of the developers that were actually doing things got better phones and just moved on. There's still people out there with little surprises popping up... But yeah, it's kind of quiet around here.
I'd like to see an miui rom ;_;

hey biglo ik that is what it seems like, but on the contrary, dev for the slide specifically might not be as active as Galaxy S, but as sefEXE said, suprises pop up. U hav to do a little searching to find what you want! So far i have found many things like small time roms and even HD HVGA hacked games (like nova, fast 5, etc.) on these very forums. more than likely they will be posted in a forum with a phone that is similar to the MT3GS, or in the android forum itself! trust and believe though that the android community has not forgotten the thing that put it on the map!
but i agree with sefEXE, miui rom wud b awesome
p.s. i am studying up on how to become a dev! may take time but i can do it , so expect the rom of a lifetime in the coming months (that is, if life doesnt come in and take all the freetime in my life away lol)
Thanks for the reply and good luck accomplishing your goal of becoming a dev. I was trying to learn how to theme but had to take a break.

I'm actually pretty pleased with the dev community here. it's become sort of a niche. I love my slide. I only wish it had a 1ghz processor. I think what we have here is quality over quantity. The devs that stick with the slide do it because they love it. The few stable roms we have are great.
agreed with digitaldreamer7 ... i guess we will feel better when chacha and salsa roms are totally working, i will use this for a long time if those roms are totally working
i came from the cliq community at simply-android.com and their ROM selection is crazy. There is seriously over 50 ROMS to choose from and have some of the nicest ppl ever. i bought a slide bc i wanted cyanogen on my phone. and now the cliq has a fully functioning CM7 ROM. who would of thought.

+1 to everything you just said. EXACTLY same story as me
Cliq was a real ****ty phone though, and now the Cliq 2 has no roms.

Htc Aria

its bad that the htc aria doesnt get dhat much support nomore. im just saying

I have to disagree the aria never had ton of roms but the ones that we did get were solid and we still have a couple of great devs that have given us a cm 9 that is currently my daily driver. Hell we even had a taste of miui v4 So I think we are still getting descent support for a device that was never really a blockbuster seller.

not just the roms just any type of help

I have always gotten great support and have learned a great deal about the Aria, Android, and smartphones in general just from this sub-forum. Perhaps I can help you with something?
Aria support
I've found plenty of support for this little phone. We just can't expect a lot from such a slow processor. With a larger (16 gb) sd card and the right apps, it's easy to move things around to get the most from this phone.
I haven't tried the new CM9 on the Aria, but for my money, CM7.2 rocks on the Aria! I'm not sure the hardware benefits greatly from ICS, but again, I haven't tried it....yet.
its pretty qood and smooth, im just waiting on the camera to qet fixed

I think it did fairly well, you have to remember this was the second Android device for ATT and that was two years ago. Times have changed. I definitely applaud the devs that are still here and working on it actively.
I think the phone had excellent support. This was by far one of the nicest communities on XDA-Developers. As mentioned above, although we didn't have a billion ROMs like other phones, the ones we did get were rock solid. Quite honestly, there is no reason you need 100+ different roms on the phone. You either go the CM* route or Sense route.. Big shout out to genepool's liberated 2.2.2 ROM... I think that's the most polished sense ROM out of the bunch. His ROM is how HTC intended the device to run.
What did you need help with? There are lots of people here ready to help, myself included. I don't even have the phone anymore and I still read these forums from time to time.
Edit: I see you're having trouble with the camera. What's wrong with it?
The Aria is a wonderful little phone, and it is a shame HTC abandoned it. However, the community here at XDA has been more than generous to us, and to this day, continues to support the Aria. I owe all the developers a beer or two for their hard work!
