[HACK] ALL IN ONE Optimizer for X7720 eclair and korean froyo.. - Milestone XT720 Android Development

# format ur micro sd thru phone then transfer to windows and reformat to fat32 64kb cluster
# shrink the volume for 1g to ext2 partition and linux swap (64 m)...( im using gparte ubuntu)..no need for swap if using others tool partion.
# format the ext2 partion using ubuntu disk utilty .U need to ensure the check box with 'Take Ownership of the File System' is unchecked for the partition before you create it otherwise the partition is created and it has superuser permissions only.
#done
Steps to prepare for installation:
# download all-in-one app2sd HERE
# Unzip the downloaded file
# Move the apps2sd folder to root directory of MicroSD
Next, simply connect the XT720 to your computer.
Ensure it is "Charge Only" for USB connection and USB Debugging mode for USB is turned on under Settings > Applications > Development.
Once you have the above checked, go ahead to launch a command prompt and perform the following:
Type: adb devices (you should see your Milestone serial number showing up. If you do not see serial number, it means there is no connection to your Milestone)
Type: adb shell
Type: su (make sure you do not see a prompt window on your Milestone. If you do, grant permission for it to access)
Type: cd /sdcard/apps2sd
Type: sh install.sh (trigger installation of App2SD)
Type: Number 1 to 0 (for every steps until the end)

when apply this i can get better hd videoing without lag , more responsive and much better on movie playback with vplayer beta.
ps/ personally i think the best sbf so far for 2.1.1 is US sbf..

howdy,
when i install this, i have installed the build.prop and JIT...i only get a quadrant benchmark of low 600's.
any tips on what else i need to do...9 have milestone overclocker clocked at your speed (i.e. 1000mhz and 56vsel). And it is the european xt720.
thanks.

Thanks for great work, but can it be used in my XT701 ??
I wish to use App2SD & JIT, is this possible ??

@Wilson
Do u using swap?..im using ext2 ,swap and us sbf..the responsive and good cam quality is us sbf...
@chen
yes u can apply app2sd but Jit im not sure because never tested on xt701...

OK, I can try JIT this night, worst case is using open recovery to full recovery.
If any progress I will report within this thread.

Yeap...more on journaling but slow on performance compare to ext2..I found that ext2 more stable than ext3 on xt...

hi khalpowers....i loaded the US sbf on to my phone, and i did not even root it and i am quite sure i saw improvement in the camcorder....the only problem was that i dont have 3G access. I am not sure if that is because the US does not acknowledge GSM...is it (xt720 for US) just for CDMA networks? BTW...i am pretty limited with knowledge in this area....so if i am saying something stupid, its cos i dont know any better... so i then reloaded the UK sbf, and got my phone back to working again.
I live in Australia, and bought the phone through expansys website, and use the 3/vodafone network.
i really only want good camcording experience with this phone, as that is why i bought it..got sucked into the reviews that this was state of the art HD .
So..really i just want great photos and camcording...any advice?
your time on replying to me is greatly appreciated

Dude.. with us sbf u need to add your apn telco setting @setting>wireless &networks >mobile network>access point names.click at menu button then u can see +new apn ..now u can add your apn telco apn setting ..only us sbf need to set apn manually..hope can help u solve the 3g problem..

It's not successful, with JIT options my XT701 ended in Moto Logo after reboot.
How can I find the source with the JIT??

Worked for my XT720 (Singapore). Reinstalled my phone with fresh stock 2.1 using RSD Lite before installing this Optimizer.
Is it really Froyo 2.2.1 now? Settings -> About Phone shows firmware as 2.2.1.
Great work! Thanks!

yep, that worked.
thanks man...i am v happy now. cant understand and little bit doubtful to fully believe my eyes, but the camcorder seems SOO much better. wondering if i will be let down in the near future with it, but right now thinking this is the phone i should have been delivered from motorola from the start. thanks again...you delivered what i wanted!!

Couple of questions:
1. The circle battery is stuck at 100%.
2. Although app2sd seems to be installed and running (checked with busybox df -h), the internal memory seems to be dropping after every install. Is there some application that I can use to view/move apps to & fro internal memory and SD.
TIA.

hi khalpowers...i am trying to get swap working, and it does not seem to be.
here are the details:
i have sdcard kingston class 4 16gb, which i have formatted (using the DVD boot image for gparted) to:
15gb to Fat
500mb to ext2 for apps
32mb to ext2 for swap purpose
i have installed swapper, and selected "use swap partition"..the swap partition is /dev/block/mmcblk0p3....which i assume is pointing to partition 3 on the sdcard, which is the ext2 32MB partition.
When i select "swap on" i get a few messages..
setting swappiness OK
turning swap off(partition) FAIL
formatting swap partition OK
enabling swap(partition) FAIL
All done
and when i select button "get information" it supports that nothing has been done as swap is always at 0kb.
Would there be a step i am missing for the XT720?
thanks in advance...and to anyone else who can help me out.

You're the man!
Finally works for my XT720, great thanks!
Only a little experience would like to share.
1. have been app2sd two months ago using apps2sd (adb script in this forum)!
I thought I did something wrong during the process, internal memory keep dropping in every install, I've checked app folder in sdcard, yes, all apps goes to sdcard, but after 40+ apps installed, machine prompt me low internal memory. Also, its heavily lag when recording SD(even not HD!!!) videos, play back videos and playing games.
2. I decided to upgrade my microSD to class 10 (previously class 6) week ago, it did improve on those lagging. But panic on how to copy card, I try cloning all partition to the new one. Sorry, be-remind that it does not work for original apps2sd. I did numerous hard reset. and tried app2card 2.7.6 and re-formating the card! Guess what, I BRICKED my phone. Sent to moto CS for repairing for 24 hrs.
3. So, start all over again couple of days ago. USING OPTIMIZER this time, it works!!! I have now over 60 apps (not including the build-in 110 apps) and still got 115mb internal memory remaining.
*** I think don't try on ext3, the app2sd optimizer come with ext2.ko, correct me if I am wrong!****
***Do not try to re-app2sd, not unless you can un-app2sd before applying new install, or you can flash the stock ROM where I never successfully done it!!****
Hope all happy new years and new machines!

No, you're still on 2.1 Update 1. It's just a build.prop hack.

I'm a little confused about installing JIT. I seem to recall reading that installing JIT on stock firmware is not a good idea. I'm currently running a Wind Mobile XT720 (software STR_U2_05.1F.2) and would like to install JIT but don't want to brick my phone. Do I need to install European/USA/Russian/etc firmware as noted on the droidforums ([GUIDE] Milestone XT720 - Apps2SD and Froyo JIT) before installing JIT? Unfortunately, none of the firmware versions match my phone, though...
Thanks for your help.

[Tutorial - Updt. 07/07/2012] Installing V6 SuperCharger with BEST config. for GT540!

TUTORIAL EM PORTUGUÊS? BAIXE O DOCUMENTO NO FIM DESSE POST!
Well, the V6 Supercharger Script is an excellent tool created by zeppelinrox to fix memory management for any Custom ROM based on Android 2.3+ Type, that we install on our little phone! Android 2.2 or less don't needed, because they got LG's original support.
Original V6 Thread by zeppelinrox (Click here)

PAY ATTENTION TO DO THE TUTORIAL CORRECTLY!

Why I recommend that we users of the GT540, the use of this script?
Because we have only 156MB of RAM, and Android 2.3 is very aggressive on memory management, closing any application that is in the background, such as music player, streaming music, to let free RAM. But in practice this does not happen very well.
With this script running on the GT540, you will be able to browse the Internet using any browser with multiple tabs opened and listening to music (I use the MixZing) or play Angry Birds listening to your favorite music, without closing the applications and Widgets in the background.
This is also good for those with Widgets that need to be running in the background to be refreshed, such as Gmail Notifier, Digital Clock Widget and Extended Controls.
And another important thing, is that the Home Launcher is not closed (NO MORE LAUNCHER REDRAWS), even after you've played Angry Birds listening to MixZing or PowerAMP, if you need, you're back to Home Launcher without waiting to it being restarted or to load the items and Widgets again!! (IMPORTANT NOTE: UNCHECK THE "LOCK HOME IN MEMORY" on Settings> CyanogenMod settings> Performance)
You don't need to kill your process and apps anymore. Its NOT recommended to use Task Killers!
Here are some Screens. Note that applications are running since they were started without having closed, since Android was restarted.

INSTRUCTIONS
You must be root of course!
Using ANY custom ROM.
Root Explorer Installed (Come's with CyanogenMod!)
P.S. When Installing Programs, MAKE SURE Script Manager are installed on PHONE and NOT in the MicroSD Card!
Step 1: Download and Install Busybox Installer
Run the Installer Busybox
Select the version 1.18.2, the Version 1.18.3 or newer are VERY much a hassle with errors that should NOT be errors! (From Original Zeppelin Thread)
Step 2: Download and Install Script Manager
After installing, run the app, press the MENU button and go to MORE and then in ADVANCED OPTIONS and now in CONFIG and leave the options marked exactly as shown in the screen below:
Step 3: Download the Script V6 SuperCharger Update 8 HERE (Right Click, then Save as .txt or download it in the end of this post)
Put it in the root of MicroSD card.
Step 4: Run the Script Manager
Open the "V6-SuperCharger_for_Android-update8.sh.txt" and check the option "Run as root" ONLY
Now, run the script!
Firstly, choose the Scrolling text Speed, from 1 to 3
Touch the screen and tap the number 6, Balanced 3, the best choice for GT540, and hit ENTER .... The script will work .... after finished, touch the screen again and tap the number 16, to exit, and press the HOME button.
NO NEED TO DO STEP 5 AND STEP 6 ANYMORE.
ZEPPELIN FIXED, AND NOW THE SCRIPT RUN AUTOMATICALLY AFTER THE BOOT!!
Step 7: REBOOT YOUR PHONE!
Step 8: Now let's take the test, if it worked or not:
Run the Script Manager again;
Run the script "V6-SuperCharger_for_Android-update8.sh.txt". Do not forget, "Run as ROOT"
And see if it is exactly as picture below, if written "Launcher is .... HARD TO KILL!" and just above "NOTE: Current Minfrees = 6, 8, 26, 28, 30, 32 mb" its WORKING!
Now, just enjoy the new GT540! LOL!
Thanks to zeppelin, for creating this wonderful and excellent script!
Any questions post here I we will try to resolve it in the best way possible.
And Sorry for my bad English...
Looks like a sick tutorial. Will give it a go in a few hours.
About the script.......
Increase the battery life??
Its reversible??
When I upgrade to M7 (for example) I need repeat the entire process??
Good work, and thanks for sharing!!!!

This doesn't change the battery life.
Yes, it's reversible, in the Script have a option to "unSuperCharge"
When you upgrade to M7, YOU HAVE to repeat the entire process again, because are changed the minfree values.
Thanks!
I can't get the minfrees to 6,8,26,28,30,32. I repeated the tutorial 3 times, Launcher is set to hard to kill, but minfrees don't change to what they should after the reboot
Edit: Nevermind, i found the problem, it was Autokiller memory optimizer which was setting minfrees to old values
OMFG !!! This is awesome script. It's working like a charm. ;-)
****in A... I like it
Although steps 5 and 6 shouldn't be necessary.
If you have an init.d folder, 99SuperCharger *should* run automatically when you boot up without Script Manager doing it again.
If you reboot and run the install script and the setting don't stick, then do steps 5 and 6.
Most of the time it does stick automatically.
But it seems to be an issue with some roms with some versions of busybox.
I think older busybox versions like 1.16.2 might be more reliable.
And if you change the font using the font button, it actually looks better.
The formatting was perfect until the Script Manager dev changed all the font stuff they did add the font button with my SuperCharger script in mind, which I was really surprised to learn lol
However, V8 SuperCharger will be even better...

LOL, thanks for you feedback! I am really happy you enjoyed the tutorial!
The steps 5 and 6 must have to be done on our case... I don't know why, because the Cyanogen modification or Busybox version... but works very well.
The font doesn't is a problem LOL, just put in landscape mode and it looks perfect!
V8 version? waiting for the news!
And thanks again for your feedback zeppelinrox, I really enjoyed it.

If you wish, you can create your own settings with this script;
This script locks the Home Launcher perfectly, without error;
The script runs once on boot, while the AMM runs in the background;
The script has predefined settings, so is not needed to testing each settings.
Basically, my problem with the Memory Manager has been resolved with the Script, while AMM can't resolved.
Just did it there, And had a look at my ram usage , 86mb free Nice haah
Easy tutorial and Btw your english is perfect.
Just wondering tho, can i kill the script manager in my task killer?

Hard to use script. Use Auto Memory manager and in advanced settings , set this datas: 6/8/26/28/30/32. This is the balanced setting in this script. Easier? Yes. Faster? Yes. Safer? Yea.....
And first post is bad, we have 167MB total memory.

Hi Surtinira,
Thanks ,1st tell one thing , did you partitioned your sd card to be able to use App2sd , if not then do it as follows
1) .. reboot in recovey
2) choose Miscellaneous option
3) choose partion sd card
4) Choose size for swap (128MB by default) and for app2sd any size of your like 512MB or above.
and proceed with the format , your data will remain instact (else for precuation do take a backup).
If you have partiopned also boot in recovery and do a wipe data / factory reset and reboot.
Now check if you have done as below procedure for the backup.
When you reboot , you 1st install Titanium backup . Open it
Press the left key => choose PREFERENCES ==>Restore backup to...(select ) ==> Internal storage
App2sd will do the rest. Do reboot the phone when you are done with backup and then check if it still shows same do let me know.
Also let me know how many application have you installed post installation.
So that it can give an idea ..as internal memory will be used surely as Sd partion is mapped to SDcard ext.
Hope this will help

Hey can you also look into adding shuffle all option to samsung stock music player and as well delete option in menu while playing song. That would be really great for me as I like default player but missing this.
Hi, thanks for the rom. So far the best I've tried. I have a small problem. After updating from 1.1 to 2.0, can not connect to Kies. This use to backup contacts.

Hi , kies issue is going with all the ROMS ( its basically driver isssue which normally gets fixed by un-installing and installing Driver from Kies --> tool menu) way to resolve this issue is to download "SMS and Contact Backup " app from markrt and backup all the contacts and sms as well . and later you can restore the backup from the sdcard and also from sdcard you can take the contact backup .

Hey can you also look into adding shuffle all option to samsung stock music player and as well delete option in menu while playing song. That would be really great for me as I like default player but missing this.

Hi ,
thanks for the suggestion , if you want to hv that feature you can install honeycomb 3.0 music player.
This will require a bit of coding to be done , which will consume lots of time and now a days I'm a bit busy with work . I will try to make these changes over it later
Best ROM I ever tried..!!!
This is straight up the best ROM i came across....simple, clean & fast.....and battery life AMAZING!!!!!
Performance?????........very very good!!!
I was able to successfully update to 2.0 from my stock ROM that i reverted to, because the previous ROM i was using wasn't stable at all.
Very good installation tutorial as well!!!!
however.. i found sum bugs,,which isn't really of issue....but could make your ROM flawless!!
1) Maps don't work, as well as Places app... i keep getting a no network error every time i try connecting!!..& sometimes it just keeps loading...and loading...& loading..... doesn't stop loading actually!!!
2) Call end tone doesn't work.... whenever a call ends you aren't notified by the tone... I kinda like knowing when the call ends!!
Like i said its not much of a problem, but thats the errors i found so far..!
Thanks again 7 keep up the excellent JOB!!!!!
Please help. What can I do for a greater battery life?? Compared to other ROM (Indroid) half. I would like to keep Vivek ROM is really cool, but this bothers me and it's pretty fundamental problem. : Zmatený:

[Gen8v2] Stock 2.4.81 rooted build for SDE enabled A70it2/A70B

Hi All,
Here is 2.4.81 firmware for SDE enabled devices.
I did two versions:
- squashfs, in this one, system is read-only, you can't add/remove stock apps and edit system files. Files are compressed so it takes less storage space than ext3, it should be also slower than ext3.
- ext3, system is read/write and should be quicker. Be careful if you modify system files though. No ext4 for the moment as source code for the kernel is not available and ext4 is not enabled in stock kernel.
To install it:
(Pictures are from G9 A101 but menus are similar)
0) You must have SDE installed. If you didn't do it already, check there instructions on how to do it.
1) Extract zip file content
2) Copy android_2.4.81.squashfs (or android_2.4.81.ext3) to internal storage root.
3) Reboot
4) On boot menu, select "Recovery system"

}
5) Select "developer edition menu"
6) Select "flash kernel and initramfs"
6) A drive should appear on your PC, copy zImage and initramfs.cpio.gz to it.
7) Select OK, the kernel should flash.
8) Select OK to reboot and maintain vol+ pressed. Boot menu should appear after reboot.
9) Select SDE in boot menu, you should be rooted and SuperUser functional.
Download rooted 2.4.81 on squashfs here.
Download rooted 2.4.81 on ext3 here.

Hey letama,
it seems you're cracking everything you got at hand
So how about the OS on this devices... is it still Froyo?
Extracting and grepping the included kernel gives:
Code:
Linux version 2.6.29-omap1 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.4.1 (GCC) ) #1 PREEMPT Mon Dec 5 13:58:23 CET 2011
EDIT:
Not sure, seems to be recovery kernel
Waiting for letama's reply...
So what did they change here... better hardware specs of course.
So did they use 512MB RAM?
Screen resolution also increased, right?
What's the actual kernel version?
Congratulations for your new toy!!
Cheers,

512 MB of ram yes, a quite nice 1024x600 screen, and charging through usb which was one of my main grip with ram.
And yes, it's a 2.6.29 as expected to match froyo. Unfortunately no kernel source and too lazy to backport panel and touchscreen from .35 knowing that gingerbread should come soon.

Thanks! Was lucky to get it at a low price, it's a nice upgrade that didn't cost too much. I really like 7", easier to work with it and laptop in the train, my main hack time . Next will be asus I presume if they arrive here, but until then...

Hi scalaneo,
Kernel did get flashed properly ?
You're sure the ext4 or squashfs file is at root of internal storage ?
It's not hard drive model, right ?
Hi,
Yes it´s hard drive 250gb model. Developer Menu is ok and the i copied the file to root yes.

Ok, that's why, I was not aware that HD model was out already when I did it, I mounts SD internal storage only. I'll take a look to see how I can detect HD and mount it.
Thanks Letama!
Can you try to flash this kernel and let me know ?
It should mount hd instead of sd.
Hi,
I have tested it and i get same result. :-(
It flashes kernel but then i get´s freeze at boot screen.
Grrr!
Ok, if you don't mind, could you try this one ? It should display two debug screens, could you show me the result (picture or write it here ?)
First Screen:
Product name is A70HDD (A70H2)
Second Screen:
Product name: [A70H2]
Thanks

Ok, so detection is good.
On second screen, nothing is displayed under the "Product Name: [A70H2]" ?
If nothing is there, mount didn't work.
Can you try the one attached ? And if not better, give me the result of "adb shell mount" on regular boot?
Sorry for the trial and errors
Hi again,
Menu 1 and Menu 2 photos attached:
After i can boot into Developer mode. But i always get the hdd as "Damaged internal storage". Internal storage problem. Please reboot.
It seems that i cannot access the hard drive somehow. Could it be because the build was done to work on SD card and not the internal HDD?
Many thanks for your support on this mate.

Hum, ok.
So mount worked, Android starts and you get this message just after?
I have no idea why, build should be the same between SD and HD as far as I know. The only thing I do differently from stock is that I mount the internal storage at the beginning to be able to access the ext4 file, but I do it in a separate directory than normal mount location to avoid interaction.
I'll take a look if I can find something.
Hi,
Thanks again for your help.
Well yes...this happens after the boot. Everything works fine but i cannot access the files or anything in HDD.
Also...everytime i try to access aplications that were installed in HHD it gives me an error saying that cannot find sd/.
I think that it assumes sd as default and not hdd. Also this is ext3 and not ext4, but i don´t think it will affect here.
Thanks again for the help.

Supercharging CM10?

I've been trying to figure out how to get zeppelinrox's v6supercharger to work with CM10 on Bravo. Defy users are having fun with the script results, so I figured I'd try to get some too...
Whenever I try to run the script in Smanager, I get an error. Anyone around know what's up?

Nope, tried Script Manager once and didn't like it. Try using the Terminal Emulator and see if that helps.
For you and anyone else who saved the script under /mnt/downloads/ -- just type the commands exactly as follows. The crap in (parentheses) is what the command actually does and shouldn't be typed.
su (uses superuser)
mount -o remount,rw -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system (mounts /system as rw)
cp /mnt/downloads/V6* /system/xbin/v6.sh (copies the file)
chmod 0777 /system/xbin/v6.sh (sets permissions)
v6.sh (executes script)
NOTES:
On the 2nd command, it may be ext4 since we have ext4 support via a kernel module now, but ext3 should work even if its mounted as ext4 already.
If there happen to be multiple files that start with V6 then the 3rd command will fail. If it does, then replace V6* with the full file name (or add a * at the point where the V6 file you want to copy has a unique name).
I'll report back as soon as I get a chance to test the terminal method!

Memory Management and other tweaks.
Check out the full thread for all the info.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
Its really useful and beneficial on CM7, use it if you're on CM7. I included it with my old CM7 customs. I didn't think it was as good on ICS (I used the online OOM tool and everything), but ICS has better memory management. I haven't even ran JB yet so I'm not gonna comment on its performance there.
RAM and cache management. It supposedly allows your launcher to STAY in RAM so it never redraws, keeps previous apps (ones you were just in) loaded in RAM with a priority so multitasking feels faster, and caches apps that don't need to be in RAM. I've only read glowing things about it and can't imagine that it could improve CM10 much...but any speed improvement is worth it!
I'm backing up right now, and about to play. I'll post back with anything I find. My hopes aren't very high at the moment, I don't have much skill with this stuff so problems take me a while to solve (almost always with the help of google + community here).
Skeevy posted a link (while I was posting one too!) to the supercharger thread so you can read all the glowing reviews.
EDIT:
Skeevy, you are an incredible asset to the Bravo community. Those directions are stellar...

Curious as well, not about the performance, just if it works.

/Another Slashie??? Out dumb crap to post.
No progress. I get the same error in terminal when I attempt to run the script in /xbin.
Looks like it could be a problem with the version of busybox (1.20.2-cm9) I have installed; the script seems to respond to older versions of busybox.
PROGRESS! I downgraded to busybox 1.18.2, still the same error. So I decided to cruise the V6 thread and...as dumb as this seems, it looks like the script I was trying to run managed to get corrupted. The newest version of the script loaded, and I'm working through it.
I'm running 50% supercharged after the automatically script. I'm going to try the manual edits to services.jar that should make me 100% supercharged.
If it works, I'll post the modified services.jar file here to save you some time if you'd like to test it.
Moto Bravo - Aleeyt's CM10 7/26
Modifying services.jar with the edits in the V6 Supercharger thread got me to 100% supercharged! Testing tonight and I'll post feedback
This version is based on 7/26 build. I do not know if it will cause issues if you use it with another build.
After I started using this the notification bar stays empty at boot until you pull the drawer down. It refreshes just fine after that
Moto Bravo - Aleeyt's CM10 7/26
New services.jar based on Aleeyt's 7/28 build. Make sure you read the V6 Supercharger page before you use this.
CM10 is already really responsive without this, but it's great to never have to wait for the launcher to redraw.
New services.jar based on aleeyt's 7/30 build.
These have all been edited with "Bulletproof" launcher settings.

Can you post the app and whatever its needed to make this work please?
Skeevy posted a link on the first Page.
Download the V6supercharger script from that thread, Smanager from the market, and this services.jar file onto your sd card.
Run the script in Smanager as superuser, and follow the directions as it prompts you.
Choose the manual services.jar patch instead of automatic, and the script will locate the services.jar file on your sd card.
EDIT: If you're on CM7, don't use this services.jar! Choose the automatic patch when you're prompted.

It all depends on what settings are used...similar to the conservative governor, too much tweaking will introduce lag and too little won't matter. The middle setting worked great with ICS although it was hard to tell since the OS is getting better all the time as well. With V6, you really have to just try it and play with the settings until you find what works good for you and the apps you use*. Regardless of V6's performance, I highly recommend the 3g Turbocharger and its unknown 1 setting , also from Zeppelinrox, as it will greatly improve 3g and Wifi** speeds -- makes my 3g upload faster than my cable internet and wifi download a tiny bit faster (just go to the V6 page and you'll find it).
Everyone here should at least try Zepplinrox's V6 Supercharger, 3G Turbocharger, and Kick Ass Kernelizer since they all improve performance and do good things on the Bravo. All the info for all of them are linked from the V6 main thread.
*My setup for mp3 playing, lightweight games, minimal activity wouldn't be the same as someone playing games, using live wallpapaers, cpu intensive apps, etc...
**When using the Wifi Afterburner option
If you're interested in trying this, go for it. You can unsupercharge if you don't notice a difference, it's an option you can select as part of the script.
Here's a services.jar updated to go with Quarx's 8/2 build.
It seems as though the 8/4 build is snappier without supercharger than 8/2 was with it We've got some great devs...

[Q] New to forums, new to rooting

Hello everyone.
I'm new to rooting, however, I have managed to root my SM-N9005. I followed a long and for me; difficult process, but I got there in the end. Odin, Tar file & SuperSU all led me to where I am now. My friend told me that I should be using Cyanogen Mod; which is installed. But I've noticed a few perplexing issues which I'm hoping you clever guys might be able to help me out with.
1) Since Modding, my SD card is no longer showing up in "My Computer" when I click on the phone icon. It is still there according to the "Storage" options on the phone and it is populated, but not showing up in my computer.
2) We have a number of devices in our house. 10" tablets, 7" tablets & various android phones. All these show up when I go to Google store, however, since the root, mine is nowhere to be found and I have no idea what to do. I cannot add software old or new, unless I go down the torrent route. MY friend told me that I should install "[GAPPS][4.4.x/4.3.x] OFFICIAL Up-to-Date PA-GOOGLE APPS (All ROM's) [2014-06-08]" as this would solve my issue. So I installed it to my SD card, booted up with Vol up, Power on & home button, selected load zip.... = Fail
Look guys, I'm an old man who suffers from dyslexia, I have honestly tried my hardest, but I'm stumped.
I throw myself at your mercy and beg you for help.
Many thanks in advance.

To make this clear.
1) Factory Reset your phone using odin and install latest firmware that can be downloaded here.
2) Flash your phone using odin. Just get rid of Cyanogen Mod first. (Install it later if you want)
3 After flashing stock rom, Check your SD card is it working or not.
4) If you want to root your phone you can go here and download appropriate file( Which is if you download latest firmware, it should be KK 4.4.2)
4) Flash the file using Odin.
5) If ONLY the problem of SD Card still occur, Try this one here.
Troubleshooting
1) If you are in stock rom and you dont have any problem with SDCARD, then it should be the CyanogenMod problem (I'd never install this rom so i don't know). You can ask on CyanogenMod Thread.
@Wulfrune :
in addition to @IzArsha post,
if you have problem with internal SD card, coming from CM/AOSP to TW rom,
you can try this.

Thank you for the reply.
However, please understand that you're talking to someone with ZERO experience of rooting and in a nutshell..... I'm afraid I've almost no idea what you're talking about The way I usually get around this is to follow video advice.
I will try my very best to get around this problem, but it's abundantly clear to me that I'm in over my head and that it was clearly a huge mistake on my behalf messing around with the phone in the first place. I just HATE the way Samsung think that just because I bought their phone that they own a piece of me.
Given my above statement, I will of course understand if you've no wish to spoon feed me through this process..... But if you can be of further help, I will of course, be very grateful.
The main thing is, you had noble intentions and wanted to help and I think you sincerely for that.

Here's an update on the state of play .
I have upon advice here updated to Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones 1.5.29.0.
I have also changed out my 64gb SD and tried a different one. whilst it still didn't show up in my computer, it did enable me to load up Google's stock package, which in turn, via play store app on the phone lets me load apps again.
I have come to the conclusion that Cyanogenmod might not have been the best route for me and that I'd probably be better off without it. I'm pretty sure it may even go a long way to solving the issues I'm having with the SD card not showing up.
So..........
2 things.....
